I liked how Alex's pigeon friends helped him, and the beautiful illustrations make this a must-read for anyone who enjoys illustrated animal books.

Let me tell you right now that you're going to fall in love with Alex and his Pigeon buddies! This is a tale of friendship and artwork that goes far beyond the story itself. It makes you think about art differently. It makes you appreciate the intellect of crows and realize that pigeons are amazing! It was equal parts heartwarming, thought provoking, and funny, just like every good picture book should be! Bednarski's watercolor and ink artwork and the sheer amount of thought that went into this book is incredible! I highly recommend this for readers of all ages!

The art and story are both a little simplistic, but the message is nice and the pigeon characters each have a distinct personality.

I love pigeons. They are usually misunderstood and receive a lot of undeserved hatred, instead they have a lot of great qualities. Even though this is not the book that highlight them, I adored reading about this kind of art-adventure of 5 different pigeons. It was a super fun read. Plus, drawings are gorgeous.

A cute story about following your passions and to keep trying. This story is about a pigeon who makes artworks and their friends who want to see them in a museum. It has great friendship themes and would be a great conversation starter about why we have museums and how we decide what we put there. The storytelling is lightly comedic and the illustration is bright and friendly. Would highly recommend this book for art lovers and pigeon lovers alike.

This Art Is for the Birds follows a bunch of birds trying to get their friend’s art inside
of a museum.

The illustration style is very charming and it had a sweet message.

This Art is For the Birds: isn't that title just the cutest one you've ever heard?! And that's not to mention the book's adorable front cover! These things combined meant I simply couldn't stop myself from reading this story, and I'd be very surprised if any bird lover could resist it either.

Like all the best picture books, the plot of this story is simple. It follows a flock of birds, particularly one named Alex. He is 'different' from the others. Why, you ask? Because he likes to collect items and make art from them. This is when I thought the other birds would make fun of him, in a predictable 'shun the outsider' kind of way, but that's not what happened at all. Instead, they decide that Alex's creations should be displayed in a museum and so they set out to make that happen!

Chock-full of brilliant, bird related puns and pretty watercolour illustrations, this book is a delightful read. The story's main text works excellently alongside dialogue that's assigned to the various birds, and I truly enjoyed following the characters on their mission. It's a quick non-rhyming read, and I found nothing to dislike in it at all! The author's note at the end was a lovely touch too, as were the reflection questions. I can imagine caregivers reading this story with young children and enjoying discussing it afterwards, as well as going back through the pages to appreciate the pictures some more!

This was darling! The humor was so cheeky and witty, I adored it. Loved the story of Alex's art and his determined friends. What an excellent representation of cheering your loved ones on. Perfect for any kid's age, my 4 year old and 2 year old both thoroughly enjoyed this book, and of course myself as well.

Cute kids' book about friends banding together to get their friend's artwork in to a museum. They never criticize their friend, a fellow pigeon, for being unique, and they fully support his creative passions.

What a fun book! Alex, an adorable little Crow, is an artist extraordinaire according to his friends. They think his artwork is so superior that it belongs in a museum. They believe he is destined for greatness but how can they get his work into that local museum? Hmmmmm?

The four friends create a plan to make Alex's dream come true. But will their plan actually work?

Debut author-illustrator Susan Bednarski paints traditional watercolour illustrations that are beautiful. The book is a celebration of the joy of art. Readers will be able to spot famous artworks and landmarks as they progress through the story.

Alex's friends never give up on him. Using teamwork and their problem solving skills they succeed in proving to others that their friend Alex has great talent worthy of showcasing for the whole world to see and appreciate!

The book lends itself for a wonderful read aloud and inspires young readers that if you put your mind to something... anything can be possible. I love the book and highly recommend it.

This was cute. A little boring in comparison to other children's books I've read. I thought it could've. been a little more exciting, and the art style was very sketchy, which is not my favorite. I thought it was okay but would've liked more of a message throughout the story.

A lovely children's book starring charming pigeons and exploring art, asking questions such as: What is art? What kind of art belongs in a museum or gallery? Should these spaces be free? Can every day objects become art?
Beautiful, detailed watercolour artwork featured throughout.

4 stars. This was a delightful read. The story follows a little community of pigeons who want to see their friend Alex make it big; they want to help him get his art into a museum. The illustrations are gorgeous and refreshing, and the pigeons are bursting with personality and humor even though, as another reviewer pointed out, they almost all lack names. I also appreciated the questions at the end and how they can be a starting point to explore art.

A city bird that is just a little bit different loves to create art with found objects. He also crafts some amazing accessories for his bird friends. To show him that his art deserves an audience...and is better than the art that is in the museums..they try to sneak his art in to be displayed. How adorable is that?! This story is adorable and shows that when people belive in you and support you, that's all you need to feel loved. I adored the humor in this book and the little comments that each bird made. They each had a lovely and distinct personality and were very amusing. I'd easily add this to my classroom library!

A cute story incorporating themes about who can make art and where it belongs for display. The pigeon protagonists are humorous and quirky, the illustrations are attractive, and the questions at the end may spur some good discussion with potential young artists or museum-goers.

Within a flock of birds, there is one that's just a bit different. Alex is an artist, making things for his pigeon friends from bits and pieces he finds as they fly around. His friends are sure his work belongs in a museum, so devise a plan to get it there.

This is a nice story with a simple plot and writing style. It is possible that the book is too simplistic, lacking the substance to create a clear narrative thread for young readers to follow.

It incorporates speech bubbles to develop the individual characters of the pigeons. However, it would have been beneficial to see this taken further, perhaps with more distinguishing features in the illustrations or a clearer difference in the speech patterns.

There are full-colour watercolour illustrations throughout which are sweet but lack depth in the colouring. As such, this book will fail to stand out alongside other contemporary children's books.

The topic and writing style make this ideal for reading to four to seven-year-olds. Based on the vocabulary used and how much of it is phonetically decodable, a child would be about six years old to read this independently or with minimal support.

This is a cute story about birds working together to support their friend who wants to take his collections into the art museum. A good vision of teamwork and supporting your friends. I think elementary aged children would enjoy this book.

I enjoyed this quirky story about pigeons and found it to be delightful. The art work is different and enjoyable. The story itself has an edge to it that would appeal to adults who read it to young people. It also features the message about being different and accepting of others. This delightful book celebrates a creative bird (not a pigeon--looks more like a crow, which would explain his acquisitive habits) who creates (and gives away) small artworks, and is helped by his friends. Each of the friends (pigeons) has a distinctive trait that helps readers track them through the book, as the team tries to get their friend's work into an art museum. It's not easy, but they persist, and of course, succeed. The watercolor paintings and brief, sometimes corny, text make this a book that will entertain parents and kids alike, while conveying several positive messages about diversity, perseverance, creativity, and friendship.
