If anyone needs me I will be throwing the biggest fit imaginable over the fact I have finished this book and the second one isn't available.

I have found a new daddy and I want him to do unspeakable things to me.

This book is the perfect amount of angst and spice to keep you on edge and wanting more. I couldn't put it down, like seriously. I had to download the kindle app on my work laptop so I could finish it. WHOOPS!
Friday morning smut reading is appropriate office behaviour...right?

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an eARC in exchange for a honest review.

This is a spicy mafia story in the Blurred Lines series. It has to be one of my least favorite in the installment.

Everything felt rushed, and the ending tanked any positive rating that could be given.

Title: A Solid Read with Room for Improvement

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Review:
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC
Vicious Little Liar by Daniela Romero is an intriguing novel that captivated my attention from beginning to end. While it had its moments of brilliance, I found myself unable to award it a full 5-star rating due to a few areas where it fell slightly short.

The story delves into the lives of complex characters and explores themes of love, redemption, and personal growth. The author's writing style is engaging and kept me invested in the unfolding drama. The chemistry between the main characters was palpable, and the romance was both passionate and emotional.

One aspect that truly stood out was the author's ability to create flawed and multifaceted characters. They felt authentic and relatable, each with their own inner struggles and personal demons. The development of the main characters throughout the story was well-executed, allowing the reader to witness their growth and transformation.

However, despite the strengths of the book, I felt that there were a few areas that could have been further developed. Some plot points felt rushed or lacked sufficient exploration, leaving me longing for a deeper understanding of certain character motivations and backstories. Additionally, I occasionally found myself wanting more in terms of the overall pacing, as certain scenes could have been fleshed out to enhance the emotional impact.

Nevertheless, Vicious Little Liar remains a solid read that I would recommend to fans of contemporary romance. While it may not have achieved greatness in every aspect, it certainly left a lasting impression. Daniela Romero's ability to create compelling characters and deliver heartfelt moments is evident throughout the story. With a bit more refinement in certain areas, this book has the potential to become an exceptional read.

In conclusion, despite falling slightly short of greatness, Vicious Little Liar earns a well-deserved 4-star rating. It is an engaging and emotional journey that will leave readers eager for more from the talented Daniela Romero.

Five years ago, I walked away from her...

Until I learn she's been promised to another man.

I’ll be damned if my girl walks down the aisle toward anyone who isn’t me.

A cartel daughter marries for one of two reasons: to forge an alliance or settle a debt.

Her father owes me. And after five long years, I’m here to collect.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of Vicious Little Liar by Daniela Romero. This is a mafia, second chance romance (a friends to lovers to strangers to enemies to lovers…?😳) and it was full of tension, plot twists and action! I will definitely be reading more from Daniela Romero.
However, I found myself unable to connect or care for any of the characters. Everything happened a bit too quickly and I think it could have been a bit longer to give everything space to happen. It felt rushed. I don’t think this couple should end up together as nothing has been done with her consent so far. She’s basically had to pick the lesser of two evils to marry and then he took her virginity non consensually in front of HER FATHER.
The Trigger Warnings that I picked up on are as follows:
-physical assault
-sexual assault
-infidelity
-forced marriage
-physical abuse
-dub con (dubious consent)
-rape

If you are looking for a spicy mafia romance, this is the book for you!

The book had everything you may expect from the tropes above - spicy scenes, angst, mafia politics, betrayal and forbidden love!

The book itself was a very quick read for me and I enjoyed most parts of it. However, please check your triggers before reading as it has numerous "questionable consent" scenes within the book.

I was a bit disappointed with the ending of the book, it kinda felt abruptly ended and definitely not the end I expected for Leti & Andres.

Both the beginning & ending of the book are laced with Andres forcing himself on her in front of room full of people and despite the connection the author has tried to build, it is just not realistic to me that she will love or forgive him.

Many thanks to the author and Netgalley for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I have mixed emotions with this one. While I’m not sure if I like what happens, this story is definitely pulling a lot of emotions out. While I wanted our main couple to have a second chance, I feel that Andres needs to step up and do more to show that he cares for Leticia. There is physical chemistry and a past where he looked out for her, but it seems Andres has a long road before he can fulfill his vows to Leticia of making her an equal. Even if he is a cartel leader, it felt he didn’t have control over things. I was hoping for some reconciliation too which I’m sure the author will give us in future books since we didn’t really get it here but I’m having a hard time accepting what happens between Leticia and Andres, especially when Andres could see how his actions were going to have repercussions for Leticia.“No matter the cost” shouldn’t mean that Leticia has to be the one paying the price when she clearly wasn’t comfortable with it and was forced into it (maybe I prefer the hero being able to come out of a situation that doesn’t hurt the heroine in the process). My heart broke definitely for her because every step of the way she has had to pay the cost of others’ actions and I’m a mix of frustrated and dejected on her behalf. I want to scream and cry at the same time. I’m really hoping Leticia can secure her freedom because she deserves the world right now. She is a strong person but there’s only so much she can do in her situation. I need book 2 after that cliff and I really hope we see Leticia become the phoenix she is inside and rise above the ashes!

I really enjoyed this and am kind of upset that I can't read the second one right now!
I really enjoy Leti & Andres relationship and the spice is there.
I will say this is very much a dark romance and there will be people who won't enjoy this trope. I, however, am not one of those people. I've already pre-ordered the 2nd one in the series!

I really tried to like this one. It's a super fast read, but I found myself not wanting to pick it back up... Took me a few sittings to finish it up.

The writing style was good, just was not a fan of the story itself. It felt rushed, awkward and unbelievable. Maybe it's because I don't read a ton of mafia romance, but others I've read were more believable and enjoyable. I mean, the guy comes back for her and immediately hand f**** her in front of everyone.... that immediately put me off. Then later on, more cringy/rapey things happen. I saw a few other reviews complain about it as well. Glad I wasn't the only one that felt it was a bit off 😅

As stated above, maybe it's because I don't usually gravitate to Mafia romance. I have read a few and know they are dark and forceful (which I generally enjoy), but this one was more rapey and offputring than others. I just couldn't get down with the characters and story.

The writing style was good though. I think the author had the right idea, it just wasn't executed quite right. And based on the writing itself, I would check out another book from the author to see if it was just this story.

I was expecting a completely different book. I didn't like it at all. I have read other books of this genre but in my opinion the author really went overboard.

The male protagonist does nothing but use violence (both psychological and physical) against the poor protagonist, up to the point of almost raping her in front of other people.

Not to mention that the book ends in the middle of a major part of the plot. I understand that this is a novella but it does not have a conclusion.

I have to give it 3.5 stars with the promise of more. You see, I liked the story and I'm certainly intrigued with what comes next but it took me a while to get there. This intro felt like it was laying out information to prepare me for the next one, and while it was exciting, it felt like a loosing battle for Andres and Leticia. I was hooked by the danger Leticia is in and by the clear interest bordering in obsession that Andres has in her. She has a lot to fight for, and through time has learned to pick her battles. She has been hurt a lot and I think that is the driver of how she is reacting towards Andres. But although he is not patient, he can see and work towards the end goal. It's just hard for him since he is borderline between being the good guy or the bad guy. I have questions, and this book did good in making me want to read the next one.

I didn’t like this book very much. It wasn’t very long but it did end in a cliffhanger. Leticia and Andres are the main characters in this novel. Leticia is engaged to Maxim at the beginning of the novel. Maxim bullied her during high school. He is a second son and doesn’t have any power unlike Andres. Leticia must marry him in order to one day take over her fathers cartel but must remain pure in order to do so. Andres decides to kidnap Leticia away from Maxim since Leticia’s father murdered his father while they were all still in high school. Andres and Leticia meet for the first time in years since he left. Andres finds out about the marriage contract and how Leticia will inherit her father’s cartel. And he finds out she has to remain pure in order to inherit but her father doesn’t want her to and she just wants her inheritance that her mother left her in order to leave the cartel and go to college. Andres tells her father that he has her and her father brings a doctor to insure that she is still pure and demands he let them marry. To make sure the doctor her father brought doesn’t touch her Andres shows them that she’s still a virgin but in the process he ruins everything but her father does sign the contract but she refuses to talk to him. That’s where the book ends.

I did not enjoy this book. I DNFed around 75%. I put it down, hoping to WANT to continue reading it, but I just couldn't drag myself to the end, kicking and screaming.

I really tried my best to like this book but I really couldn't. The beginning was kind of cringe and forced. I was about to Dnf after 15% but I decided to read on.

I did skim the book after that to see if it got better but I didn't feel it did.

I did feel the 2 MCs relationship just felt forced to me than anything.

In spite of how short the book was, I found myself caring for Andres and Leti, and wanting to know more about them and his brothers. The writing, as well as the pace of the book, were both very good.

A spicy mob book with friends to enemies to lovers?! Heck yes! Sign me up for a great read. This book didn't disappoint for the most part.

Leti is a mob princess that is used, abused and her life manipulated to meet the agenda of her father and everyone else. Andres is the son of a rival mob boss and through a series of events becomes Leti's best friend and only person she can rely on. Until Andres breaks his promises to her and her heart. Fast forward 5-years and Andres is back to claim the girl that he has always loved, and deal with the repercussions of abandoning Leti. Will she allow him back into her life? And what will be the costs?

For a spice level, this book wasn't super spicy. And honestly, the spice that was in there wasn't to my taste. It was well written, just not my preference, which is OK. To each their own. The story was engaging through I found myself rolling my eyes at times because of the decisions that were being made.

All in all, a great read and a SERIES that I would recommend. Why not just the book you ask? Because it had an absolutely HORRIBLE ending that had me wanting to throw the book across the room in frustration. I kept flipping back and forth between the pages wondering where the rest of the story was. It was like the ending to the Sopranos where you are left with a WTF let down moment. If it was a strategy to get the reader to buy the rest of the series it was well executed.
