Not saying that this was bad but this wasn’t good either…
The writing was great, the plot, however…
We do get a past/present writing which helps us grasp the timeline better but there are so much missing that it makes us dizzy.

Vicious Little Liar will pull you in from the start. It's a Romeo & Juliet retelling with spice. Leti is engaged to the 3rd son of the Russian Bratva, a man who has tormented her since high school. But she is bidding her time and keeping her innocence in tact, because if she does, she gets a big pay out and will run away from this life. In walks Andrés, the eldest son of her family's enemy, five years after throwing away their forbidden friendship and leaving her behind. He intends to claim her as his own and will not take no as an answer. Leti doesn't want to be anyone's possession. She wants out and Andrés coming in to "rescue" her throws all of her plans out the door. Will she warm up to Andrés and forgive him? Will her father let her live and marry to secure the life her mother secured for her prior to her death? Or will it all blow up?

Fair warning! We are left on quite the cliff hanger and it will leave you dying for the next part of the story! But it is worth it.

There was a solid setup, but the follow up was not there. The book ended with the FMC being sexually assaulted by the MMC, and there was so resolution.

I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is my first time reading this author, and what a pleasure it was. This book was an unbelievably fast read, and so easy to get into. It did feel a little rushed at times, but for the most part, I think it had a great pace. I honestly had no clue that there was going to be a second part to this story, and though I was a little upset at the end with a cliffhanger. I’m still very excited for book 2, and to see where things go!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This just did nothing for me, I really thought it would be a quick and easy read since the book is so short but it was a massive disappointment I didn't like either of the main characters. It was stereotypical and cringy and I found Andres very disgusting and borderline rapey + not much different from Maxim at all other than how Leti feels about him.
The ending was very abrupt and didn't feel like the proper way to end a book but more like end a chapter. In my opinion this book was just. Really bad. I had too many issues with it and it annoyed me a lot.

‼️PLEASE CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS‼️
Arranges marriage ✔️
Mafia/cartel vibes ✔️
Quick spicy read ✔️
Leti and Andres are from rival families. But Andres wants her to be his. And her dad has betrothed her to the worst man for her.

I loved Leti's character. She's a badass and she's relatable. She's been through SO MUCH but she still comes out swinging.
For the majority of the book, I liked Andres too but that ending? Killed all hope I had for them. I despise him now and Leti deserves so much better.
I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT‼️‼️

A hot short story which must be the first of several in this steamy new series.

Rival cartels will not guarantee enemies. This is the situation between our two main characters.

We have arranged marriages, secret contracts and alpha males marking their territory. If you are interested in forbidden love, possessive men & hot scenes this might be the right choice for you.

This book just didn't do it for me. The premise had potential and I was satisfied with the pace. The Author didn't waste time getting right to the heart of the matter, which I always appreciate, but it's the actions of the main characters, in particular the supposed 'hero', that did me in.

The way Andres treats Leticia not once but twice, in front of an audience was kind of vile. He says he has been pining for his former best friend for 5 years and yet treats her as badly as her own cruel father has. Not to mention what has also occurred at the hands of her slimy fiance.

Overall, this kind of story while intriguing has to have more than just men trying to outdo one another in the underworld they live in, while purposefully destroying the one woman they all seem to want for their own.

Not my cup of tea by any stretch and I will not be reading more in the trilogy.

2 stars.

The storyline is short, which was a pro in my experience. No scene felt like it was dragging along and the reader got a good understanding of the main characters' backgrounds without it being boring or overwhelming. Spice was great, though some scenes were somewhat questionable (though you understand what you're getting with dark romance too???). Looking forward to the next books in the trilogy and plan to read them as well.

Loved reading the engaging and engrossing romance story. While Leticia's horrible fiancee, Maxim, forces her to dance on the table, Andres, the man who broke Leticia's heart five years ago, comes to enemy territory and kidnaps her. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and riveting storyline. Can't wait to read the next story in the series!

Thank you to Net Galley and the Publisher for my advanced reader’s copy of Vicious Little Liar by Daniela Romero.
Trigger warnings include: assault, abuse, and dubious consent

“Kindness is a weakness in our world, and I won’t show weakness in front of anyone, let alone my enemies.”

Vicious Little Liar is intended for those 17 and up. It is a very mature and dark retelling of Romeo and Juliet.
With feuding families and romance what else could you need? This book was very good. It was steamy, but still had an exciting plot. You never knew what was going to happen next. Our main characters Andres and Leticia were constantly keeping us on our toes. Leticia is strong and always has a plan for whatever situation she’s in. Andres is possessive and level headed, except when it comes to Leticia.
I liked Leticia as a character I have no complaints with her, Andres on the other hand… I won’t spoil what he did, but he made some poor decisions in my opinion. Overall I enjoyed this book up until the end. The story ended in the middle of a scene, which is my only complaint. Other than that, know what you are reading. Because there were some dark and heavy moments in the book.
I would recommend this book to those just getting into dark romances or those who like Romeo and Juliet retellings.

Let me first say wow, what a ride! This was a pretty quick read and SO much happened on those pages. There are some scenes like did that REALLY happen scenes that had me not believing that would really happen.

I liked the overall concept of the book, but I feel there was one scene I didn't like. I feel like the beginning of the book held me more captive than the ending. Near the end jusy didn't have a good feel like the rest.

Please read the trigger warnings before proceeding with this book.

I saw this novella and thought it would be the perfect quick and easy read.
We’re introduced to our main character Leticia in a nightclub with her forced fiancé Maxim. She appears quiet and is being controlled by her husband-to-be. Internally she appears fierce and determined but on the outside meek and submissive. We know that she is daughter of a cartel leader and marrying Maxim solidifies their position but also their finances.
Andrès is our male main character. He’s also the leader of an organised crime group. He has a history with Leticia and as a reader we get a vivid and disturbing flashback of him saving her from Maxim where she’s being sexually assaulted. This was very early on in the book and I was really surprised to see this.
I had a difficult time reading this. Leticia is in one forced arranged marriage, where she’s treated horribly and suddenly she’s reunited with her first love who proceeds to touch her sexually in front of everyone while she struggles to comprehend his return.
This doesn’t appear to be the first time. The entitlement Andres feels towards her is awful. I think through the entire novella, the two have one conversation regarding their potential marriage. He proceeds to touch her further while in between her protests to the essentially a kidnapping and her attempted escape.
By the end, a meeting takes place with Andres, Leticia, her father and their respective men where they try to negotiate a deal that leaves her with Andres and this would fulfil the debt owed from Andres father being killed by him.
Leticia’s entire inheritance relies on her remaining a virgin until marriage, apparently the reason behind this is her religious upbringing. A doctor attends this meeting where her father insists she is inspected to see ‘if her virtue is intact’. So here’s where I had the problem. She expresses she’s not comfortable with that, her father insists but our MMC thinks bending her over a desk and having sex, if you can call it that, with her, showcasing her clear pain and distress as proof to her father, deeming her ‘worthless’. I was gobsmacked. I’ve read dark romance, consensual non-consent and this honestly felt like assault. She expressed the importance of her inheritance and Andres and his brothers knew the clauses to this contract. But what was even worse was Andres genuinely not seeing the issue with what he did in that meeting.
And this is where the novella ends. Both characters leaving this meeting, Leticia clearly distressed, Andres fumbling over his words on what he’d done.
I enjoyed the initial story of escaping one arranged marriage for another that would be safer and more comfortable for Leticia, as well as the conflicting families, the cartel, mafia etc. but the issues discussed above really stuck with me.
Obviously my opinion is only my own and it you enjoyed this novella then I’m happy you did. Enjoying books is subjective to your own feeling and experiences and that’s the power of reading.

I think the author set the novel really well at the beginning. I didn’t feel lost or confused about what was happening or who the characters were

I received a copy of Vicious Little Liar (Blurred Lines) by Daniela Romero from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This novel was okay, but I was not captivated and felt no connection to the characters or the plot. The summary seemed interesting, but the novel’s pacing was uneven and the characters were kind of boring. Just not my cup of tea.

Fast paced, dual narrative, sometimes gets a bit bogged down in the politics of the world. The ending felt very abrupt and wasn't my favourite.
