This book was requested when I was young and requested more books than I could possibly read. Sadly, I no longer have access to this book and my tastes have changed. Thus I will not be able to give feedback on this title.

Requested and downloaded this book back in 2013 with every intention of reading it but then it expired on my device before I had the chance. Have felt bad about that and as a result haven't wanted to leave a review but with more and more publishers relying on Feedback ratings I need to clear out some of these older titles in my queue.

I had a hard time finding anything to relate to in this book. The main character is a weak, balding, overweight and unremarkable middle aged man that has practically nothing going for him. His only trait of use is his knowledge in old stories and languages. While I appreciate the author taking a completely different approach at a hero. . .the main character in this is. . .unlikable. And as a "nerd" hero. . .it would make sense that he wins his battles and becomes a leader because of intelligence right? outsmarting others, using knowledge to his advantage? yeah. . not really. While the character is nerdy. . .he is also very naive and un-knowledgeable and his character growth to me just doesnt make sense. The actual setting for the story was enjoyable and even the theme was enjoyable I just could not get past my hatred of the main character ..

A good dark fantasy. Slow warming-up, the kind of story that begin to compel once you get bored and almost drop the book. But still a good story, tho
