Ava Wilder has officially joined my auto-buy list. Will They or Won't They was the most delightful follow-up I have read in a while! I loved How to Fake it in Hollywood, and I thought this was even better--it flowed better, it definitely feels like Wilder has found her groove. And this was a fantastic enemies to lovers story. They can easily be contrived or annoying, but this was just really wonderful. A delight.

we need more celebrity romances! this was really cute and easy to read. i loved the dynamics between our two main characters and they felt real and not just characters on a page. i laughed, i swooned, and i overall reccomend this book.

"Will They or Won't They" keeps you guessing until the very end.
In this story, we meet Lilah and Shane, actors who star in a popular TV show together. The pair begin a physical relationship at the beginning of the first season, but it quickly goes south. Unfortunately for them, the show runs for 9 whole seasons.
Lilah struggles with anxiety and being emotionally unavailable, while Shane is a 'relationship guy' who tries hard to hide his hurt and true feelings through the course of their on/off again drama. The characters are complex, maybe overly so at times, with it's lust at first sight-lovers to enemies-enemies to friends-friends to lovers journey. But, through all that, it begged an interesting question: Can you really be in love with someone who doesn't let you all in?
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for an early release copy of this book!
"Will they or Won't They" is being released June 27th 2023-mark your calendars!

Lilah and Shane were the will they or won't they couple of a popular tv show... they kept almost getting together on the show but didn't... but they did in real life! And then Lilah left to try her hand at making movies. Now, seasons later, Lilah is back on the show but is struggling to find her place back with the cast. There is tension between her and Shane and they are back to the show pulling the "ross and rachel" act with them. They are put in a series of hilarious situations and the banter is great.
This is a fun lovers to enemies to lovers story. I read it in a day and didn't want it to end

I enjoyed the second chance romance and enemies to lovers tropes of this book. The author kept me engaged and rooting for these characters to eventually get together. The chemistry was on point and kept me on my toes about “will they get back together or will they not?” until the very end. I liked how the author tied up all the loose strings in the end. Overall I enjoyed reading it.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

This was one of those books that I enjoyed so much that I almost don't know how to articulate all the things I loved about it.
Ava Wilder does it again! I really enjoy the way Wilder writes about Hollywood; both HOW TO FAKE IT IN HOLLYWOOD and WILL THEY OR WON'T THEY were slam dunks for me.
As Wilder herself admits, this book is less heavy than her debut, but it does still discuss anxiety and panic attacks, and I really connected with the way those were depicted and thought the topics were handled very well.
The entire cast of characters has my heart. Lilah and Shane had incredible chemistry, and I was fully invested in their relationship journey. I loved the couple's therapy that Lilah and Shane attended as well; I always enjoy when therapy is positively represented in books.
Lilah's cast of friends was delightful as well, though I wish they'd taken less of a backseat once the relationship hit, but that's something I'm always looking for.
This book was a pure delight to read. Highly recommend!
Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Lilah Hunter and Shane McCarthy are co-stars in the TV show “Intangible.” On-screen they are in love, but off-screen they can’t be in the same room. This was such a fun book and storyline!! There is drama, angst, banter, and love. This is the perfect enemies to lovers, second chance romance, celebrity romance pool read. If you liked Famous for a Living, Nora Goes Off Script, Romantic Comedy, or Meet Cute you will love this one!!
Thank you, NetGalley and Random House Publishing - Ballantine Books for this eARC in exchange for an honest review. Will They or Won’t They was released June 27th, 2023.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a very predictable rom com. I will say it was better than her previous novel, but not by much. I was at least able to finish this one. I just didn't connect to the characters and found them immature.

I had the pleasure of receiving "Will They or Won't They" through NetGalley, and after a delightful experience with "How To Fake It In Hollywood," I was eager to dive into Ava Wilder's writing once more! 🎧💕 I'm happy to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book, although it fell just short of a full five-star review.
Ava Wilder's writing style continues to charm and captivate, drawing me into the world of celebrity romance once again. 💫 The witty banter and emotional depth between the characters made for an engaging and heartwarming read that had me hooked from start to finish. 🌟🌸
As someone who isn't usually a huge fan of celebrity romances, I must admit that this book has me rethinking my preferences. There's something about the way Ava Wilder crafts her stories that adds an extra layer of allure to the genre. 👀🌈
In conclusion, "Will They or Won't They" by Ava Wilder is a charming and endearing novel that left me eagerly anticipating more from this talented author. 🌹✨ If you loved "How To Fake It In Hollywood" or are curious about the magic of celebrity romances, this book is definitely worth adding to your TBR list! 🎬🌟

3 stars!
I enjoyed the lovers/enemies/lovers trope of this one. The ending felt a little rushed and chaotic to me, and a ton of it felt really unnecessary. Overall I found it to be a cute story, very slow but also a fun read.

My two favorite tropes are Hollywood romance and second chance romance so this book was right up my alley! I loved the dual POV, dual timeline story of Lilah and Shane, two former co-stars who reunite for a final season of their hit TV show. The chemistry, the banter, the roller coaster of emotions - it's all off the charts and written in a way that will keep you surprised. And that ending! Just perfect. I can't wait for whatever Wilder writes next!
Thanks to Ballantine / Dell for the copy to review.

Lilah and Shane reunite to star in a final season of a TV series that made them famous. When they met years earlier, they had a brief romance that ended quickly. Now they both hate each other ... or do they? If you like enemies to lovers, second chance romances that are slow burn, this book is for you! I loved Ava's previous book, How to Fake It in Hollywood, and came into this book with high expectations that just were not met here. I felt that the book dragged on in parts and I didn't find the main characters to be all that likeable. A solid 3 stars for me.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for the ARC!

This was a fun, slow burn, friends to lovers turned enemies to lovers to second chance romance. SO many of my favorite tropes in one!!!! The slow burn and anticipation was well worth it. The title couldn't be more perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this- felt like I was watching "Intangible" in my head!

Will They or Won't They by Ava Wilder is a great romcom! This is a famous/Hollywood romance with a second chance trope. It is funny, steaming, and overall a great story. I love when I can laugh out loud while reading but then get right back into the steamy parts. While I'm not a fan of 3rd person, this book was written well! I will definitely read this author again!

I… don’t think I like this one. And I did like the first one! So maybe if you didn’t like the first one you’ll like this one and vice versa idk!!
Dual timelines and dual POV had be so confused. What was happening when?? I had no idea. Really thought some past stuff timing was happening in the present. All that really threw me and took me out of the story. I also did not believe those two would end up together for real. I didn’t get any relationship growth, only hatred. And maybe that’s cause I was confused with timelines? Totally could be true.
So anyways, this wasn’t for me

DNF at 43%. I just don't care about these characters to finish this book. The tension between the MCs doesn't make me hope they'll get back together after "the big misunderstanding." They just seem emotionally immature for not either moving on or communicating in any way.

Thanks to Ballentine and Netgalley for this advanced copy!
I really loved Ava Wilder's first book and it is so great to see her hit it out of the park for her second novel. Will They or Won't They is so tender and funny and delightful. It's an lovers to enemies to lovers novel where the main characters actually seem to hate each other, but we all know they are in love from the beginning. Watching Lilah and Shane work through things and come back together was fun and it never felt like the anger was forced, nor was the reconciliation. Lilah's surprise move towards the end felt a little much, but I loved the twist at the end. I would probably never watch the show they are both on (ok maybe I would) but I would spend more time with these characters for sure. Wilder really has a way of stripping away emotions to make them raw but not forced, letting the characters be honest with themselves and the reader at just the right pace.
Such a great story, I can't wait for her next one!

ava wilder does it again! one thing i've loved about both of her books has been the complexity of her characters and by extension, their conflicts. they are so well-rounded and we get to know them so well, and because of that, there's no trouble understanding why they make the decisions they do. lilah and shane have Chemistry™️ like no other; even when they weren't touching each other, i was losing it. because of the way their careers paralleled in trajectory, they share such a special, unspoken bond, that had them so at odds, while simultaneously caring for each other on a fundamental level. i loved this and can't wait to see what ava has coming next!
*thank you Random House & netgalley for the eARC!

Oh my god, the tension, the angst, the pining 😭 this was such a wonderful second-chance romance <333
💫 Second chance celebrity romance between the titular characters of a famous TV show
💫 Second chance after nine years of hating each other (well, passionate back and forth revenges)
💫 Past and present time switches, and it was done so well
💫 Swoony and angsty and steamy
💫 The bestest hea 😭
TWs - anxiety, panic attacks, alcoholic/drug-addicted parents (past), difficulties faced by child of divorce, bullying, invasion of privacy by fans and media
-- ty to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an advanced copy!

Lilah and Shane met at an acting audition. Lilah, a trained, aspiring actress and Shane, a strikingly handsome bartender just trying it out because he can. They both land lead roles in the paranormal romance television show, Intangibles, where their characters are hopelessly in love on screen. They both became famous, became involved, and then fell apart. They have the opportunity to re-connect when Lila returns to the show for the ninth and final season.
This is my first Wilder book, but I’d heard good things about her prior book and this one. I was excited to read it because I love the title and premise — a whole book about the particular romance trope “will they or won’t they” which I haven’t read too much of in the past. There are other tropes and themes too - enemies to lovers, celebrity romance, second chances, forced proximity, and more. Those tropes, I am much more experienced with.
It was written in dual POVs and timelines (then vs. now). I love dual POVs in my romance! I love knowing what’s going through both parties heads which adds way more to the tension and conflict in most books. However, what I don’t like in my romance is lots of irrelevant backstory and a slow burn without resolution until the very end. Perhaps second chance/will they or won’t they romance just isn’t a trope for me since it requires some of that to a certain extent. I ended up renting this book on audio at my local library after it published because that was my only way I could get through it and finish (on 2.5x). It took me a really long time to come to care about the characters — until near the end actually. I liked Shane more than Lilah. In fact, I thought Lilah was pretty unlikable for most of the book and didn’t really care if she got her happy ending or not but I wanted the world for Shane…
Thank you to Ava, Random House Ballantine, and NetGalley for the digital review copy!
