Wow! That was amazing. What a whirlwind. So many things going on and a twist at every moment. The ending was amazing with yet another twist but tying up the whole book nicely. Every time I thought I knew what was happening I was thrown another curve ball.

Heavily pregnant Andrea and her husband Terry and young son Jack are forced to sell their home and belongings and move across town. Terry made some horrible decisions which cost them their home and comfortable lifestyle. New to the neighbourhood and very lonely, Andrea is grateful when Gabby, the neighbour across the street, befriends her. Gabby is married and a mother to teenage son Flynn. She runs an online parenting advice column and portrays such a competent and caring person. Andrea is so thankful for this new friendship, company and help with her young son, that she blindly trusts Gabby, ignoring several red flags. Sadly this mistake will cost Andrea.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.

Firstly I have to say I loved this book, from the first page I was hooked and I read this in one sitting, as I just couldn't put it down.

The story is told from Andrea and Gabby's POV.

Andrea is married to Terry and they have a son Jack and another one on the way. They have just moved house and Andrea is tired and feeling vulnerable, she has a feeling her husband is keeping secrets from her.

Gabby is an older mother with a teenage son Flynn. She has a following on Social Media for her parenting advice.

The two women become friends and Gabby is keen to help Andrea and offer to babysit for her.

Both women have secrets!!!

I would definitely recommend reading this thrilling and unforgettable book.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

What an introduction to the writing of Nicole Trope. The-Stay-At-Home Mother was a phenomenal psychological thriller. An absolute mind twister that I loved it.

The Stay-At-Home Mother is told from the POV of both Gabby and Andrea. And I’m telling you one of them is an extremely unreliable narrator. I thought it was very unique that the story had two villains, although at first the reader is unaware of this fact. It’s very rare that a plot twist catches me off guard, but to happen twice in a book 🤯. Yes Nicole Trope caught me unawares not once but twice!

Plot twists, an unreliable narrator, secrets and lies, what more could one ask for in a psychological thriller. I absolutely loved The Stay-At-Home Mother. It’s the kind of book that keeps you wondering what happens to the characters once the story ends and hope that the author will write a sequel!

Many thanks to Bookouture, Netgalley and Nicole Trope for my arc in exchange for my honest review.

I rather liked it.

The book is about two Stay at Home Mothers, one has a teenage child, another has a little boy and is about to give birth to the second. I have a lot of acquaintances who are SAHMs and seeing the characters voice certain thoughts was interesting cuz that's what I also think being a SAHM would be like.
There's a bit of questioning the identity, coping with the older child going through "I don't like you" teenage stage, wondering "what's next?" when the children don't need you anymore. One of the mothers even has a popular facebook page where she shares her experience with other mothers and it felt very similar to the online circles I am in.

It's a thriller so it can't be without a dark twist and a "my husband may be doing smth bad" plotline, and what this book did was actually a bit unexpected for me, and I initially disliked it, but after finishing the book, I appreciate that it took me by surprise. I still think I'd like the book more if it took a more typical approach - I think I would appreciate it more for being realistic, but the plot twist wasn't bad, honestly.

I love stay at home mom dramas! You never know what’s going on behind closed doors. So fun and creepy, all the characters were very sneaky and I didn’t know who to trust

When I see a new book come out by Nicole Trope, I put aside whatever I'm in the middle of reading and start in on her latest book. I loved how, on page 1, it was made VERY clear that this book was going to have something to do with an errant husband but it was NOT going to be about him cheating on her. All the while I'm reading to find out what he did, another story was building up deliciously slowly - if this had been a movie, there would be ominous music playing in the background for the first half of the book. And then came the gut-wrenching part. And the ending was amazing. Now, when people tell me there is a big twist at the end, I don't believe them anymore. Either it's going to be some character we've never heard of until the very end of the book, or it's going to be some random neighbor who we had no reason to suspect. I stayed up way too late reading this, and I was SO tired that after reading the first epilogue, I thought I'd just wait until the next day to finish it. As far as I was concerned, it would just give me more closure that I didn't need at this point. Boy was I wrong! I woke up this morning thinking about the 2nd epilogue (my brain wakes up faster than my body does) and at first I thought that the ending wasn't realistic, given everything we had read. And then parts of the book started coming back to me and I realized that YES, it ALL makes perfect sense and Nicole Trope is brilliant..... as usual! This book was enjoyable and very satisfying - I totally recommend it!

I just finished reading "The Stay-at-Home Mother" by Nicole Trope. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookoutoure for the advanced copy in return for an honest review.
This is a story told from the viewpoints of two women: Andrea (the pregnant mother) and Gabby (The woman who befriends her from across the street. Andrea suspects that ther husband has secrets that he is keeping from her. She befriends Gabby her neighbour who has older children who proceeds to giver Andrea advise.
This book has many twists and turns..some good some not so good. It is a page turner for sure and at times surprising with its twists and turns, including the women who have big secrets of their own.
I did like this book because it was suspenseful and intriguing. You could feel something bad was going to happen but you werent sure what it was.
I felt it to be a bit formulaic almost following a how to of writing psychological thrillers. But nonethless, an entertainig book that I recommend to enthusiasts of this genre.
Happy Reading

Holy Plot Twist!

The Stay At Home Mother, put me on a dark and twisted ride of a lifetime.

I cant even begin to describe the way this book was skillfully crafted to come together with an explosive ending that no one will see coming. Talk about twisted! Cue the jaw drop.

This was my first book by Nicole Trope, but there is no way I will stop now, I just want more more more! Nicole, is a true storyteller that will have us all eating out of her hands if she keeps delivering books like this. After concluding The Stay At Home Mother , I did my research to find any and all books that might have been published previously and imagine my surprise when I had FOUR books to choose from (I ended up choosing The Boy in the Photo)

Not only did I find 4 books but I also found out some history behind Nicole and how she came to start writing. Her story just goes to show you, when one door closes, another will open.

Nicole Trope went to University to study law but realized the error of her ways when she didnt do as well as planned on her first law essay because-as her professor pointed out- 'It's not meant to be a story.’

This led Nicole right on the path to becoming and now currently a USA Best Selling Author.

I have become a fan of Nicole with just having read The Stay At Home Mother and I am sure you will be too! Check out the teaser below :

Her chest tightens, her heart speeding up. The kitchen is chaos. She steps on something hard, and looks down. Toy dinosaurs are scattered everywhere. But her son is nowhere – her baby boy is gone.

The police arrive. She can’t look at her husband. Instead, she studies the network of lines on her shaking hands.

Then her phone beeps with a voice message. ‘Listen to it on speaker,’ says the detective.

A woman’s voice fills the air.

‘I’m assuming this is the Andrea Gately listed as a contact on the Missing Children of the World website. I’m calling to let you know that I’ve given your details to the police. Why are you using a picture of my son on a missing children’s website? Why are you using it and where did you get it?’

An absolutely unputdownable psychological thriller that will leave you gasping with shock and staying up way past your bedtime. Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, Liane Moriarty and Adele Parks.

I seriously loved this book. It had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish and had me guessing until the last page. I didn’t predict the ending at all but the plot was so well crafted everything finally made sense by the end. The characters were relatable and well developed, and I couldn’t help rooting for the main character. I’m excited to read more from this author in the future. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher, for a chance to read and review this book.
