My first book by Nicole Trope and I thought it was a good one. A quick read with plenty of twists. Definitely a page turner. I thought it was suspenseful and fast paced. My kind of domestic thriller!

Andrea and her husband Terry move to a new neighborhood. She has a young son and is pregnant. She becomes quick friends with her neighbor across the street, Gabby, who is also a mother to a teenage son. The story is told through the POV of Andrea and Gabby. Both characters are unreliable, and both are hiding secrets from eachother. Gabby offers to help Andrea, and she is tired so she takes Gabby up on her offers. One day while Gabby is watching her son, she arrives home and her son is missing. I really don't want to give anything more away, but this story was pretty crazy, just the way I like. Highly recommend!

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own. Out now.

This book was something else! It was a quick read that was full of suspense. Andrea has moved to a new neighborhood with her husband, Terry, and her son Jack. Nine months pregnant. Andrea is struggling to adjust to a new life that she never wanted.
Gabby welcomes Andrea to the neighborhood. She is so caring and helpful, but she’s hiding a dark secret.
This book use the unreliable narrator, trope very well. The author had me going in so many directions. Some of it was predictable, but the epilogue shocked me!
If you enjoy fast paced, suspense novels, this is the perfect book for you.

This book had a few plot twists I would have never seen coming. Can't wait to read the next story by this author.

✨Book Review - The Stay-At-Home Mother by Nicole Trope✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ STARS

REVIEW: It took me a while to get into the book, but I don’t think that had anything to do with the book, more on me and my headspace. Once I fully engaged though, it gripped me. We had two POV: Andrea, young mother and wife and Gabby, older mother who lives across the street. There are some twists and some turns and I expected & guessed a few of them but the end surprised me. I love when books keep me on my toes.

SYNOPSIS: Andrea, her husband, and their 3 year old son move to new neighborhood all while Andrea is 9 months pregnant. Gabby, their neighbor, takes it upon herself to help out this young mother remembering what it’s like when they are that young and dishing out advice and offering to babysit. Andrea is grateful…at first. Both women are keeping secrets and soon things spiral out of control.

Thank you to NetGalley and Booktoure for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley, and Nicole Trope for letting me read “The Stay-at-Home-Mother” in exchange for an honest review.
The synopsis of the book attracted me and I wanted to read the book.
The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read . I liked how the author presented 2 sides of the story (Andrea's and Gabby's).Andrea, a young mother who is due any day with her second child. She knows that her husband is keeping secrets from her, but doesn't know the whole story of what he's hiding. Gabby was already living across the street when Andrea and her family move into the neighborhood. Gabby talks a lot about her husband and her teenaged son, but it's clear pretty early on that something is off with her.
The benefits with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.
All the characters were realistic, well developed and had strong characteristics and personalities.
Despite while reading this book I thought I had things figured out, the twists were expected, except the reveal from the final .I did NOT expect that ending at all.. What an absolute twist!

I've read all of Nichole trope books. This one was probably one of my favorite ones. The character development was good. I would give this one 4.5 stars out if 5.

Thank you to Nicole Trope and Bookouture for this advanced reader copy. The Stay At Home Mother is an engaging and page turning thriller which I personally found really thought provoking. Very relevant for today's climate of 'living our lives online' and the constant need for information sharing and comparison against other 'perfect mums', I enjoyed the way this book tackled such topics. A fast paced and exciting read, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Andrea is heavily pregnant & exhausted. She is struggling to cope with three year old Jack. Her husband is often out, presumably at work & they have just moved into a run-down house, leaving her friends a long way away. Gabby is a stay at home mum with a teenage boy, Flynn. Her husband is working abroad & she spends her time writing parenting advice on Facebook. She soon befriends Andrea & Jack, inviting them over & letting Jack play with Flynn's out-grown toys.

The book is written from the point of view of both women. I liked & felt sorry for Andrea, But there was something 'off' about Gabby. It is difficult to say much without revealing the plot. I have read a number of Nicole Trope's previous books but this one didn't grab me as much as earlier ones. It all felt as if it had been done before. It was interesting enough to want to finish it & the end was a bit of a surprise! Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

This book was so good! Just the title alone had me hooked from start to finish! The main character was one you just didn’t know if you could trust or not. Highly recommend!

Rounded up to 2.5. Okay, so as you can see this wasn’t my favourite by Nicole Trope. It was all pretty meh, and when it launched into the epilogue at 83% (the remainder was an extract from The Family Across the Street - a much better book) I was honestly shocked that was all there was to the story - talk about predictable!

Great story that drew me in from the very start. And WOW, an ending I did not see coming ! Loved it
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC

This is my 5th Nicole Trope book and I have enjoyed them all. When I pick one up, I know I’ll get a story that will draw me in and get me invested in the characters just to twist a little bit and change my perspective on everything. The writing is easy to read and flows well and despite being set in Australia, nothing seemed overly unfamiliar that it distracted from the story although I did consult a map to see where the different locations are. Recommended for those who enjoy thrillers with a slow, satisfying burn.

Andrea and Gabby become neighbors and quickly become friends. Gabby pursues the relationship a little more than Andrea does. Andrea has a three year old son and is pregnant and Gabby has a teenage son and is alone a lot. She gets bored and needs a friend.

Everyone has secrets they don’t share with anyone; especially a new friend. So far though, they seem to have pretty normal lives. Gabby even has a blog that she writes about teenage kid issues. Her son Flynn is giving her a hard time and she likes to chat about this with other mothers.

An event occurs in which Gabby is irresponsible with Andrea’s three year old son and now Andrea is starting to feel frustrated with Gabby. At one point they have a conversation and end up sharing some personal details of their marriages and lives. Who is telling the truth? We find out about three quarters of the way through the book that things are not as they seem for Gabby or Andrea but one of them is not a good person at all!

I really like this book and the story is good. The only thing I would have liked is to see a little more devious behavior throughout. It takes a while to get to the first twisty part. The ending is satisfying and explains it all. I think Nicole Trope is a great author and I am definitely going to be starting a collection of her books for my bookshelves!

Super fun cover that grabbed my attention right away.

I love any domestic thriller premise like this.

This fast paced book kept me on my toes. Yes, there is some predictability but the twists really surprised me. It was a fun and entertaining read.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

I look forward to reading more from Nicole Trope.

Wow! As a parent, this book is relatable on so many levels. Social media is prevalent and nothing is what it seems. I could not put this book down!

The story begins with the intriguing opening of someone calling to ask, ‘Why are you using a picture of my son on a missing children’s website?’
Then we meet the two protagonists - Andrea who is pregnant and has a three-year-old son, Jack. Her family has just had to move into a rundown house on a well-to-do Sydney street because of her husband Terry’s gambling debts.
Gabby lives across the road and is a doting mother to teen son Flynn who she makes a central part of her Facebook page on parenting advice. Her husband Richard is away working in the US and is not so keen on her sharing Flynn’s life on social media.
Gabby immediately sees that the exhausted Andrea could use a helping hand with Jack. But can you trust someone you have just met?
This is a fantastic page-turner with an unreliable narrator, ominous tone and surprising end twist.

This is the first book I have read by this author and unfortunately, I was not impressed. It was a VERY slow read and I just couldn't get into it. At about the 50% mark, it started to pick up, and then at the 70% mark, it started to zoom by. The ending was good; it even included a twist in the epilogue. It's just a shame it took so long to get exciting.

Looks like I’m in the minority, and had high hopes. The story had me interested the first quarter of the book, but I didn’t enjoy the writing, conversations seemed unnatural and I figured out the twists pretty early on. I kept reading just to finish. The main twist wasn’t that interesting to me. *Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy!
