The Catch is part two of the fabulous trilogy by Shari Low and Ross King. You don't necessarily need to read The Rise first but I recommend you do.

This gritty drama shows the darker side of Hollywood where stars and wannabes will do anything for fame, money, and love.

A perfect escape read.

Absolutely loved everything about this book…..the plot, the glamour, the characters, the humour and of course the ending! It follows on the story of Mirren, Zander and Davie from the first book, The Rise, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. I read The Rise again this year to refresh my memory about the original story, but to be honest this new book does such a great job of recapping that it would be easy for any reader to pick up and enjoy straight away.

I didn't think that the second book could be as good as the first but I was wrong. Built on the first book but could be read as a stand alone.
It focuses on the here and now of the three childhood friends and the rollercoaster of their personal and professional lives.
A new look at Los Angeles and the entertainment business.

The Catch is the second book in a series by Shari Low and Ross King. In The Rise readers were introduced to Mirren McLean, Zander Leith and Davie Johnson, 3 teenagers from Glasgow who rose to meteoric fame when Mclean turned their life story into an award winning film.
The Catch follows on (but does recap events from The Rise throughout the novel) and Davie is still with Sarah - the Scottish reporter who flew to the USA to uncover why the three characters left Glasgow. Davie is still an award winning TV producer but are events going to bring his fame to a crashing end?
Zander is still battling his demons, can he stick to his promise that he made Chloe (Mclean's daughter who died from a drugs overdose) ?
Mirren is still grieving for her daughter, but is her pop star son - Logan involved in something that he shouldn't be? Is love on the horizon for McLean and will her ex husband continue to make a fool of himself?

Reminiscent of Jackie Collins' writing - this is fast paced and completely hooks you in. A recommended read.

This is both good and bad, fun and tedious. There are some likable characters and some not so likable ones - friends from poverty way back all achieved dizzyingly high levels of success in Hollywood. But there is a catch, a secret that could ruin them. They stay apart until a series of problem force them to confront current and past problems..
The story is fun enough, so much that it was a page turner simply to find out who was behind it all. The loose ends are tied up nicely.

The Catch is apparently the 2nd book in a series by Shari Low but I have no idea what that 1st book was called. I’m pretty sure I have not read it but I read this one anyway. This was just ok, lots of celebrities in it … maybe it would’ve made more sense if I read the other book first. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release.

I love this intense, climactic thriller. I was incredibly invested in the characters and plot. Readers are going to love this incredible novel.

Not for me at all I requested this book thinking it would be a Scottish noir but it’s more like a bad Jackie Collins full of stereotypes. Candy floss for the brain sure it will be a success within its target market but it is a bit Glasgow NAW for me

I absolutely love “The Catch”, the second book in The Hollywood Thriller Trilogy by Shari Low and Ross King. Davie, Zander and Mirren are my favorite characters and once again their drama filled lives were met with scandal, secrets and life threatening situations. Romance was in the air for Mirren, Zander was searching for who he really was and Davie was busy being the king of reality TV. I devoured the book in only a few hours and I couldn’t get enough of the Hollywood hierarchy, the glamour of red carpet events and the chances the characters took to finally achieve happiness. We are introduced to Mirren’s son Logan, who is a member of a super popular boy band that was climbing the charts and causing young girls to swoon. Zander still has women flocking to him but unfortunately, he was obsessed with the one woman who could ruin him. I was surprised he couldn’t see that his life would be better with someone who truly understood the man he was behind the movie star. Davie’s girlfriend Sarah was immersed in writing a tell-all Hollywood tale while closely guarding their potential career ending secret from falling into the wrong hands.

I was captivated by every heart pounding chapter as Davie, Zander and Mirren dealt with Hollywood politics, gossip and emotional personal issues. I wanted to be a fly on the wall at the business meetings, parties and quiet nights at the beach so I too, could experience the magic of Hollywood. Of course, danger was right around the corner for all three of them and no matter how much security they could afford, no one ever felt safe. I was absolutely convinced that I knew who was behind all of their troubles, but I was wrong and completely shocked by the final scene that I never saw coming. Ms. Low and Mr. King are a dynamic writing team and I am grateful that they came together to write this creative and entertaining series.

Back among the glitz and glamour of Hollywood with Mirren, Davie and Zander.
As they prepare to celebrate the Oscars , a secret from the past threatens to blow their success apart.
We first met them in The Rise but this sequel can be read as a standalone.
I loved this book as much as the first. Could very well imagine it as a TV series.

It was thrilling, full of secrets and written in a way that made the story very realistic. The kind of story you can't put down. I loved the first and last third of the book, however the middle part I found repetitive, and the story dragged a bit.

I’m a big fan of Shari Low and while this series isn’t as readable as her solo work it’s still enjoyable, I would recommend that you read the first book just to get a flavour of the characters involved

This was a very gritty thriller. Three kids who grew up poor in Scotland are now Hollywood stars. But a secret from their past has come back to haunt them. Someone wants to expose their secret and ruin them. An good read though I found it too long.

Yayyyyyyy Mirren,Davie and Zander are back in this the 2nd book of the explosive Hollywood series
Got to say the addition at the beginning of a ‘reminder’ or a ‘heads up’ for new readers is a great idea as is the much needed in many books ‘cast list’ AND how each character is linked to each other….
And for the story…well its dynamite again, total escapism into the world of L.A. and all that happens there, films, music, the stars and their lives, good and bad, every page thrills with the pictures forming in your mind of the lifestyle…but there is importantly a really really good story here too, exciting, thrilling, edgy and brilliantly written and played out
I loved every sentence of this book,I wish the next instalment ( please let there be one ) was out but the wait will be worth it,these books are pure reading enjoyment

10/10
5 Stars
