3 stars

Kit Fairfield is a retired agent of Hex Support, a division of Federal Bureau of Magic. She left after her husband died to focus raising her twins. Her kids are now in college and Kit is persuaded to help out on a case about a murdered socialite.

I was very entertained every time I heard "hex support" and I would have enjoyed more about the house and refuge for magical animals. I was not entertained by Palmer's actions--not sure how he could be a romantic interest.

The audio quality on this one is fantastic. I found myself immersed into the story and the world while listening BUT once it was over?

I have no idea what I listened to.

But hear me out. I know what the story is about. It’s basically paranormal police force and I found it fascinating. I was invested. And then it just - ends? So is that what it’s about? Or did I miss something? I have no idea.

So basically I really liked it until it ended. Which is such an unfortunate review to be leaving. But it is honest.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio copy!

I actually really liked how fast, fun and easy this book was to get through. I didn’t love it, but it was interesting and fun and that’s pretty special!

I loved the dynamic of the sisters, although I wish there was more of them in this book. I thought the idea of romance and the banter between the two MC’s was nice Palmer gave off Thomas Cresswell vibes, but much creepier in an off-putting way. If he was supposed to be charming, the assignment was not met.

Overall, I’d love to read book two!

I really liked the story over all . It was a good ol who done with this witchy magic and it had characters that where older than 40 and that part I really did appreciate. Its refreshing to see older characters being represented. If you are looking for a paranormal middle age book, this book is for you.

This is a good YA mystery-magic book. It deals with death, witches and magic in a very light form and the murder mystery is very light as well I would say. A little too young for my liking but I am also an older reader so if I had read this years ago I would say it would have been much better.

Thank you NetGalley and dreamscape media for the Audiobook ARC. This story is a great listen and doesn’t take long to finish. It’s filled with the supernatural: witches, vampires, and ghosts. There are some pop culture references too. A middle-aged widow comes back from retirement as a federal agent to solve a murder mystery. I give it three stars, I think the story really dragged on to finally find out who is the killer. I did enjoy the dynamic between the main character and the somewhat love interest. I would’ve liked to learn more about how the main character became a widow, showing a flashback or such. Also more lore on the different kinds of witches and the main character's family. So far, theres only a green and chaos witch. Overall, I did enjoy the story, I would read the other books in the series but as audiobooks. this review will be posted on 12/20/22 on GoodReads.

This was a cute paranormal cozy mystery! I loved the cast of characters, and that they are of a more mature age (30+ yrs old), as it allowed me to relate more. Loved the witchy familial representation, and the mystery case was fun to follow. The audiobook narrator was just delightful to listen to, and I’d definitely listen to more by them. Highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a cute paranormal story.

Loved this story! The characters were developed and they worked well together. The mystery to be solved was interesting and had a surprising twist at the end. Can't wait to see where the other sisters go with Hex Support! Narration was excellent!

This was a cozy paranormal mystery.
The protagonist is a once agent who worked for Hex Support now spending her days at Dark Hollow, a home for familiars. She quit the secret division after the death of her husband to raise her kids. Now they've grown and her old boss wants her on a case: a beheaded prominent witch socialite.

You can't help but cheer for Kit the entire time. She's got this creepy vampire following her around attempting sexiness but comes off as manipulative and excuse me, but what did he do to her drink?! He's definitely problematic and I hope he has more reddeming qualities in future books.

I'd love to know about the Dark Hollow home and familiars. And the history of this powerful witch family. So I'll definitely be continuing on with the series.

A hexing cute opening to a series. See what I did there?

Kit has been out of the game for a long time-and getting back into it isn’t something she’s interested in. When her old boss shows up, she isn’t prepared to help him, yet somehow she finds herself in Savannah finding out what happened to Dottie, a powerful, well known mage. With a large family to interview, Kit gets moving so she can get this case handled and get home to her family, but there is someone else just as interested in the case-and he doesn’t seem to be upfront about anything at all. Using her green magic to help her along the way, Kit rifles through the information in her notebook to get to the root of the problems in savannah. Can she do it before anyone else? Who else can she trust?

*spoilers ahead*

I really enjoyed Kit being a mother and getting back into the FBM after a decade long retirement. I relate to that a lot, and listening to her worry internally about her kids and family while at work resonates with me. I don’t solve muster cases, but my family is always on my mind while I’m working and it’s a real battle wanting to be home for them. The story flowing with Palmer and not knowing if she can trust him was such a real development, even if she is a witch and he’s a vampire. The sentiments are real! I loved how he tried to come in but not actually step on her toes but to help her in a way that didn’t make him ‘the man’ and wanted to also get to know her. I didn’t actually see the murderer coming- I thought for sure Burt’s role was going to be bigger than it seemed, or her lawyer for some reason. I now need to know how her sisters roles in the FBM play out and how they can work together to be a great team outside of the home as well!

Thank you to Dreamscape and netgalley for the opportunity to listen and review this book!

Katherine is a witch, a mother, and a retired agent from the Federal Bureau of Magic. Living with her sisters, she’s enjoyed the peace and quiet until one day, her boss asks her to take up the badge again. She’s called to Savannah, GA to investigate the murder of a wealthy magical socialite. As she’s attempting to narrow down suspects, she finds that she’s not the only person who’s taken an interest in this case and that she might have more of a challenge on her hands than she thought.

This work of urban fantasy was a fun, easy read. The characters were well written and enjoyable. I also loved that the author chose to make the protagonist a mother of older children. It was fun to feel like we were coming into the middle of her life and that she’d already done many different things by the time this story took place. However, I didn’t find Palmer to be a compelling love interest nor an interesting or well written character. I disliked how much of an emphasis was put on that subplot. The focus on him and their interactions detracted from the parts of the book that were actually interesting.

I would have liked to see a bit more worldbuilding incorporated, especially as relates to the magic system. There wasn’t much explanation included relating to the magic. But as this is the first book in a series, there’s a pretty good chance more information will be included down the line. I did enjoy the worldbuilding that was incorporated, especially the idea of a sanctuary for familiars and the Federal Bureau of Magic.

If you enjoy urban fantasy, magical realism, or cozy mysteries, I recommend you read this work. This was an easy, quick story that was enjoyable overall. My thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to read this work. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

A paranormal mystery with a fun spin of a cozy mystery!
I found this to be an enjoyable listen. The narrator, Carly Robins kept me engaged throughout the book. At times, I did find the pacing to slow but overall it was a fun listen. I enjoyed the magical elements to the book, and it appears that it may turn into a paranormal women's fiction romance.
There's some mystery surrounding the Fairfiled witches and I can't wait to see what happens next in the next book. I really liked the idea of using a Hex Support. It reminded me a bit of Harry Potter.
If you're a fan of paranormal women's fiction, with a bit of mystery, then check this series out.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this free audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
To start of this review I want to say that I loved the protagonist. It was very refreshing to read about a 40 year old woman with high school aged children. But I hated Palmer. Everything he did undermined Katherine or went against her wishes. He did things I am completely against but won't go into to avoid spoilers. Nothing about him was charming to me. A lot of characters were introduced in this fairly short book so it was sort of hard to keep up with people and names. That aside this was a quick and fun, especially if you enjoy magic and cozy mysteries.

I want to thank the publishers and Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

This was a super fun and short cozy mystery. For me this is a 3.75 out of 5 but I'll round up because it was pretty entertaining.

I will admit that I wasn't expecting a cozy mystery vibe from the cover, and description of the book but I was still really happy with it.

In this book we have magic, close family ties, mystery and maybe a little bit of a love interest.

I really enjoyed this book, and I don't want to give to much more then the synopsis because it is a quick read and I feel like it will give to much away.

I will say I wish there was a little more magic seen, and not just talked about. I also would have loved to learn more about the familiars and the sanctuary the main character lived on.

It appears there are at least 2 more books so maybe there will be more in those books but I either way I do look forward to reading more.

Even though this book covers topics like grief and empty nest syndrome, this book can be considered a cozy mystery.

Kit comes out of retirement to solve a murder and meets a mysterious vampire who inserts himself into the case. Their relationship really emphasizes the enemy part of enemies-to-love to the point where I’m not actually sure they’re love interests. Palmer, the vampire, has ulterior motives and comes across and the quintessential bad guy. Props to Kit for clearly being uninterested in his antics.

This was a quick, enjoyable read but there was nothing memorable about this story. Even unanswered questions about Kit’s family didn’t seem too pressing in the end.

Pink moon was super fun and easy to read! I loved getting to know the character of Katherine Fairfield as she comes out of retirement to solve a mystery The Fairfield witches were so exciting, and Palmer, the vampire was quite charming. I enjoyed reading about a main character who was in her 40s, and a mom. Way to rule the world! It is obvious that there is lots of room for sequels. I will definitely be on the lookout for them. The reading on the Audiobook was flawless.
