“Katherine Fairfield isn’t a typical woman—or a typical witch. Once upon a time, she worked as an agent for Hex Support, a secret division within the Federal Bureau of Magic. Following the tragic death of her husband, she quit to focus on raising their twins. Now the kids are in college and Kit spends her days at the enchanted family estate known as Dark Hollow, along with her two younger sisters and a sanctuary of forgotten familiars.
Until duty calls.”

Well, this book came out of nowhere for me. With the popularity of witchy-fiction, (Witchion?), and considering how good it was, I’m surprised I’m not seeing it all over IG.

The story itself was great. The characters (both main and secondary) were fleshy and interesting. The settings, both Dark Hollow and Savannah, Georgia, were vibrant. The world-building was deep enough to be interesting, but didn’t drown you in details.

Really, the only reason I’d take away marks is because the end came both too soon, and too abruptly. I had no idea I was nearing the end of the book, and all of a sudden Kit cracked the case, and it was over.

While I hope this writing pair draws out the next one, so I’m left feeling more satisfied, I also need them to hurry up already, ’cause I want the next installment of Hex Support ASAP.

8/10

Let me start by saying that I love this book, the mystery, the murder, the mayhem, I love all of it.

Since I had the audiobook of this one let me just say that Carly Robins is masterful, her voice was the perfect choice to bring our characters to life, with impeccable tone and control it was a fantastic listening experience, one that I highly recommend if you have the opportunity.

Now on to the story, Kathryn Fairfield is recovering from tragedy, there's no other way to put it, and just when she has her daily routine down her old boss at the FBM ( the secret paranormal division of the FBI) asks a favor, one last case.

I have to say Katherine (Kit) is exactly the kind of witch I'd want to be, one loved by her family, the familiars living at the sanctuary her family has built, the ancestors that seem to know more than they should and have no trouble handing out advice, and the house itself, well castle really.

With children that are on the verge of being grown and sisters that can handle things if anything happens, Kit decides to take on this one last case, little does she know how many things will change in the course of just a few days.

With ups and downs, a shadow in the form of a crazy attractive vampire named Palmer, and more suspects than she has room for in her notebook Kit has her work cut out for her.

Firstly, l'd like to thank @netgalley, the authors, and
@dreamscape_media for this #gifted audiobook.
I'Il be honest, I went into this book semi-blind. I was so
drawn to the cover that I really didn't care what the
book was about. (PS: It's a cozy mystery with magic/
witchy vibes)
I think the story had a lot of interesting moments, but
the book as a whole just wasn't the right fit for me.
Even though this is the first book in the series, I felt as
if there was a backstory that I'm not privy to. The world
building was a little lacking. I am going to assume that
the rest of the series goes deeper into everything, but I
would have just preferred to have more story built on
those things rather than the actual mystery.
These are my personal preferences, but I also fully
believe that other people could love this book.
Also, l've listened to other books that were read by this
narrator and I was a little iffy about how I felt about her,
but i think she did a phenomenal job with this particular book
Pink Moon and the rest of the Hex Support Mystery
series is currently available on KU, and the audiobook
for Pink Moon is available now!

I didn’t hate it but didn’t love it? It was an amusing little story but I didn’t like the matter of fact tone it was told in, although I get that it matches the main character well. Easy read.

Pink Moon was such a delight! Annabel Chase and Tana Grey created such a magical cozy mystery filled with suspense, laughter, adorable rescued familiars and of course - a dramatic murder. I loved this series debut! I’m so excited to see what The Federal Bureau of Magic’s Hex Support division gets up to in the sequel!

This book was a fun mystery and was a quick read. I loved the magic in this book and can’t wait to see what happens next. The magical characters are great.

First off, I love a protagonist around my own age with grown children! I'm not at all against reading stories with 20 year old main characters (that is mostly what I come across) but when I was in my 20's I would not have been against reading books with characters in their 40's either, so it's nice there are more of these coming out.

Our MC definitely seems like she has an interesting back story, I had to check more than once to make sure this was the first book in a series, and having finished it I do hope it continues. There are vampires and ghosts and other magical/ paranormal things going on in this book but at it's heart it's a mystery. It definitely hits more than one of my hot buttons as far as genre goes!

The characters are well developed and interesting, the setting is interesting and it is definitely story driven but not to the point that the characters don't matter. I am fully invested in them and I would love to see where they end up next!

I liked the premise of this story. In some ways, it reminded me of the original Charmed tv show, especially since it centers around three sisters from a very powerful family of witches. Family legacy, loyalty , and responsibility play a big part, especially since Kit is the oldest and feels protective of the others.

I found the idea of an animal sanctuary for familiars to be both delightfully chaotic and a little sad. After all, in order for a familiar to need a sanctuary, it would need to lose its magical person.

I admit there were multiple plot holes that tripped me up a little, especially in regards to the magic system and who was capable of what. That being said, this is a fun witchy cozy mystery set in Savannah, but also rooted to Kit’s home and her family. I’m curious to learn more about Elizabeth and Grace.

I enjoyed the narration by Carly Robins.

This was a fun cozy mystery in a magical setting full of ghosts, familiars, shades, & spells.

Tackling some weighty topics such as loss, empty nest, & family inheritance drama- the writing style kept things light and airy. It made this read quick, yet relatable at the same time. The overarching plot drives home the work it takes to realize that change is inevitable and how to embrace it was enjoyable.

I wish the author would have taken that change sentiment to heart. From the very beginning, there is a dark, mysterious love interest. He hits the story and it followed the well-worn and over-used love interest pattern. It felt overdone, and my eyes rolled every time he interacted with the main character.

I say this frequently, but I think it's worth repeating. These sideline romances feel like they are plugged in because that is what has sold in the past. Had the author sidelined relationships that further enhanced the magical setting, (hello, I want to know more about the animal familiars!) this book would have been well-rounded and deserving of a higher rating.

ARC audiobook provided by NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

“Pink Moon” is the first book in a supernatural cozy mystery series centered around Katherine “Kit” Fairfield. Kit is a Fairfield green witch who used to work as an agent for a Hex Support, a secret division within the Federal Bureau of Magic (the FBI for the supernatural). After her co-agent/husband died, Kit retired to focus on raising her twin children and her two younger siblings.

Now Kit’s children are in college, and Kit and her siblings spend their time at home in their enchanted family estate caring for a sanctuary of familiars. Until Kit’s old boss at Hex Support comes knocking and asks for help, pulling Kit out of retirement for one last case. Hex Support is short staffed and needs her help with a high-profile murder case in Savannah. A little rusty at first, Kit starts to get back into the swing of things, meeting an interesting cast of characters, including a mysterious vampire known only as Palmer. As Kit seeks out the killer, danger closes in, forcing her to wonder if she should have come out of retirement. Is it safe for Kit to keep going? Why does Palmer know so much? Does Kit still have what it takes to close a case?

I thought this was a great cozy mystery read. I had just finished a dark fantasy book prior to reading this book, and I felt like this book was like a ray of sunshine in my mind (even though it was a murder mystery). It was just that enjoyable. The characters are relatable and likeable, even with their supernatural sensibilities. The story arc flowed well and kept me engaged throughout. The writing was well done, and I liked the author’s style so much I was able to just tear right through this book. The story itself was entertaining, both in and of itself and as the start of a series. I had some ideas about the murderer, but I wasn’t completely sure, so it did keep me guessing a bit. I did wish there was some expansion on the history of the characters a bit more, especially regarding Kit’s history with Hex Support, including with her husband and her family. However, I can see this being developed more throughout the series.

My copy of this book was an audiobook, so I must comment on the narrator. I thought she did an excellent job. The narrative voice was well done, as was the pace. The character voices, both male and female, were also well done. I was very happy with her narration.

Overall, I greatly enjoyed this book. I highly recommend this book for fans of cozy mysteries. It’s quick, enjoyable read. I think it is a great start to what I believe will be an entertaining series. I look forward to reading more of the Hex Support Mystery series!

Pink Moon by Annabel Chase and Tana Grey
Narrated by Carly Robins

Pink Moon is the first book in the Hex Support series, and I'm looking forward to more! Kit is a retired agent for a magical investigation department called Hex Support. This main character is mature with grown college age kids. She was interesting and someone to root for when she is asked to come out of retirement to help with the investigation of the beheading of another witch at a Mad Hatter tea party. During the investigation, she crosses paths with a vampire, Palmer, who is also investigating this event for a private party. He wants to team up but she is equally suspicious and intrigued by him. Fun witchy read!

I was starting to get down on myself and investigation books. I haven’t been hooked by one in a while and I was starting to think I do not enjoy these types of books like I thought I did. Pink Moon showed me I have just been reading the wrong investigation books. This one was amazing and sucked me in immediately.

Pink Moon follows Kit, Kit is a retired agent for a magical investigation department called Hex Support. Kit retired young after the death of her husband, she wanted to focus on her family. Years later her former boss calls her for help in investigating a murder of a very prominent magic user, and Kit accepts.

During her investigation Kit crosses paths with a vampire named Palmer. Palmer is mysterious and Kit is both intrigued and suspicious of him. I loved the dynamic between the two.

This is the first book in the series and I can’t wait for more. Kit is a great character to focus a series around. I can’t wait to see what Kit is up to next. Definitely check out this book.

Quick Summary: A paranormal mystery with a budding romance in the periphery

My Review: Pink Moon by Annabel Chase and Tana Grey was a light, supernatural mystery that was a joy to listen to, quite frankly. It was book one in a mystery/thriller series called Hex Support Mysteries. This particular story revolved around the life, family, and work of former Hex Support agent and witch Katherine Fairfield.

As a favor to a friend, Katherine came out of widowhood to solve a case. While she worked her case, she met many colorful characters, she learned to release her family from the hold of Fairfield responsibilities that severely restricted their lives, and she was confronted by a reaper who thought she should look into satisfying her needs.

My Final Say: I am totally here for the Hex Support Mysteries. I adored book one and am certain to love books two and three. I highly recommend this magical mystery series.

Honorable Mention: I loved that the protagonist was a seasoned female who was learning to overcome loss. She was succeeding and forging a new path for her life. Brilliant!

Many thanks to NetGallery, Dreamscape media, Annabel Chase and Tana Grey for an advanced audio version of this story in exchange for my honest review. 2.5 ⭐️. This book started off strong but slowly fizzled out by the end I didn’t really care what happened. It is nice premise and the characters are well developed the story just stalled a bit.

Thanks to Netgalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review. This is a great start to a cozy mystery series. The main character is smart but not perfect, has family to deal with, a new guy following her around, and a career to possibly get restarted. Katherine does make one typical blunder that all cozy PIs tend to make, but she also get herself out of it with no one else's help. The supporting cast is good and will likely be fleshed out more in future books. The story was interesting enough without the supernatural elements and the magic adds to the plot in an intelligent way. Now of course I need to read the original series, Federal Bureau of Magic.

I have no idea what to think about this - it's a paranormal mystery with a side of romance. Definitely a quick and easy read - started out strong but I feel like the mystery plotline got boring in the middle of the story - I wanted more from this because the premise is very fun and there was a lot of potential. So i'm going with it was fine... but could have been better?

Pink Moon is a witchy/paranormal cozy mystery with a side of romance. The universe it is based in is very interesting - I loved the magical realism. The characters were fine but they didn't excite me much. I was intrigued by this world though and could see myself reading other books in this series to spend more time with it!

Of the cozies and murder mysteries I've read this year, this one is average. It seemed a little grittier than your average cozy since there's a government office and beheading involved. I'd recommend it if you're into a magical element. I am intrigued by Katherine's family and her home. I'd love to spend more time at the estate and surrounding town.

I think this story needed to be about 20% longer to allow us to build up more information around each of the suspects. I was significantly more invested in Katherine's interpersonal relationships than the investigation, so it's just a balance.

I wasn't a huge fan of this magic system (doesn't seem very well contructed), but that didn't affect my reading very much.

Overall, I'd probably read the next book if I'm able to cut down my TBR list.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape for providing a copy of this audiobook for me to review. All thoughts expressed are my own.

Delightful story! Can't wait to read more books about these sisters and the world they live in. Witches who run an animal sanctuary for abandoned familiars, one of whom is an empty-nester single mom going back to work at the FBI for magical incidents? What's not to love? The storytelling was tight and the characters were great. They mystery was not too complicated or intense, but it was fun and I didn't have the whole picture until the detective did, so that was nice.
