Excellent addition to the Coben library. Falsely convicted of murdering his son, David Burroughs gets new information and escapes from prison to prove his innocence. Evading cops and wise-cracking FBI agents he encounters a variety of convincing characters in his quest.

Loved reading the story as seen through David's eyes. Quite the tale! The prison breakout was a little hard to believe. Sarah and Max, the FBI duo were very annoying. But Max did finally step up. Lots of twists towards the end that will keep readers involved. Some things were predictable but the story is enjoyable. Recommend.

Harlan writes books that are the popcorn of thrillers. Did this have me enthralled? Yes, but also, it’s the type of book that’s so unbelievable that it takes away from the mystery. I can always see why these books get turned into Netflix series. There’s so much crammed into one story. I enjoyed the plot twists. Not sure I believe all of the prison breaks but I guess that’s fiction isn’t it?

An Action-Paced Adrenaline Rush

“I am serving the fifth year of a life sentence for murdering my own child. Spoiler alert: I didn’t do it."

I Will Find You is an OTT thriller about a prison break, a case of mistaken identity, and a startling revelation.

David has been serving time for 5 years for the murder of his 3-year-old son, Matthew. A visit from his sister-in-law, Rachel, changes everything.

Narrated by David, an FBI special agent named Max, Rachel, and a few others, this novel is not about the characters. The plot revolves around David and Rachel, but the reader doesn’t know much about them. The chapters between Max and his partner Sarah were schticky and cartoonish. David and Rachel are likable enough, and I did care what happened to them.

This is a fast-paced, quick read, but the plot is out of control and over the top. One will have to suspend their disbelief to fully enjoy this novel. The revelation behind Matthew’s murder had me rolling my eyes.

The premise grabbed me, and the first half had me riveted. There are a lot of twists and turns, and I was never bored while reading this, but I couldn’t get past the lack of believability and a few plot holes.

To sum it up: Not my favorite Harlan Coben but still a decent thriller.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

Classic Harlen Coben! It’s a world where everyone has fight moves and witty banter. And I can’t get enough! I read it on my flight today and it was a great way to pass the time!

David's in prison for his young son's murder...that he didn't commit. He feels responsible so he doesn't fight it until everything changes with a photograph. Is he crazy? Desperate to get out of jail or is his theory true? Half-baked plans take you on a wild ride as David and his former SIL Rachel search for the truth. Brief cameos from Hester Crimstein and Win Lockwood make for a fun tie-in to Coben's other novels. FBI agents Max and Sarah's know-it-all banter gets a tad obnoxious, which I'm sure is the point, but eventually shows cracks in that relationship. Secrets, lies, misinterpretations blend to make this a heartbreaking tale, but an excellent read.

This was a great story….murder…a cover up….deception….and finally… justice. I really enjoyed reading it! The characters seemed to come alive.

This was a fantastic read!

I received this pre-read copy late Friday, and on Sunday morning I’m writing this review. It would have been yesterday if I didn’t have plans. The book takes off fast and keeps going at lightning speed. It does slow down a bit at about 70%, but that’s when all the loose ends start coming together so it’s ok.

David was a mixture of wrongly accused loving father, 5 year disgruntled prisoner and a funny guy. When his former sister-in-law visits him in prison for the first time with an unbelievable story, David immediately plans his breakout. With some help from family and friends, he gets out but becomes the target of a national chase.

I really enjoyed this book, the plot was well-crafted and interesting. A little far-fetched, maybe in some ways, but strangely it could happen. I’m hoping this becomes a movie like others by this author have.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Book Title: I will Find You
Author: Harlan Coben
Publisher: Grand Central Publishing
Genre: Mystery Thriller
Pub Date: March 14, 2023
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐5 rounded up

Harlan Coben is without a doubt one of my “fav” authors. This is novel #33 for me. I have read all the Myron Bolitar novels.
Coben is a great story teller and d doesn’t disappoint. This story has twists and turns I know to expect but sure don’t see coming!
Of course there is Coben’s signature wit –I have listened to several audiobooks and while I am reading I totally can hear the wit which always has me laughing out-loud!
Although I have to admit there isn’t much humor in this story.
But there is a cameo for us Harlan diehard fans!

Daniel Burroughs is/was a stay-at-home dad now serving life in prison for the murder of his three year old son Matthew. Daniel found his son covered with blood ~ but knows he didn’t touch him. He did have a few drinks while waiting for his wife Cheryl, a physician to get home from work. Daniel is arrested for murder his son with a baseball bat ~ doesn’t fight it as he has no reason to live without his son.
Now after serving 5 years, his former sister-in-law Rachel Anderson visits him and has a photo taken of friends at a theme park in the background is a boy about eight years old who resembles Matthew. In fact, she had a friend use age –progression technology on a photo she has of Matthew at three. Guess what?
Daniel is now sure this is his son. At the time of the murder no DNA was taken even though there was a lot of blood there was no doubt that the victim was Matthew.
He knows he has to escape this prison and find his son!

Wow Wow Wow I could have finished last night and totally wanted to but so was much going on I thought it best to let it my brain settle! lol
Of course, I couldn’t sleep all night for thinking about it!
Harlan Coben has an amazing imagination!
How in the world does think of these things?

I was very impressed with this story! I have heard many great things about Harlan Coben and this was my first novel by him. I started this book this morning and did not want to put it down until I just finished it. The story was very fast paced and kept the reader intrigued and guessing. Although the reader learns pretty early on that the reason David is in prison did not really happen, the reader was still unsure how it was all going to fall into place until the last few chapters. I had that light bulb moment when I figured it out about 90% through. This ah-ha! moment is rare for me and makes me love a book that much more when it happens. I really enjoyed the dialogue between Agent Max and Agent Sarah, it brought humor to a dark subject. I really enjoyed that you had a feeling that David was innocent from the first few pages but you are not sure how or why unlike many other thrillers. I would recommend this book to everyone I know that is in need of a good fast paced who-done-it.

Confession time… I have not read a Harlan Coben book in the past 5 years or so. Sometimes you read an author for so long you become apathetic, or at least I do. As a result, I gave him up. Yet, when I read the description for this new one, “I Will Find You.” I was intrigued and wanted to try him again. After all, he is a great writer.

The premises of this book is about a father, David Burroughs, who is in prison for committing murder! The murder of his young son. Ow those who know David, know he was an attentive and great father, so how could this have happened? While in prison, David gets a visitor, a visitor who shows him a photograph with an image that looks like his son? Well, obviously being in prison poses problems for trying to figure out who the boy is in the photo, so what does he do? he plans to escape…and we’re off…

Does anytime remember the movie with Harrison Ford, “The Fugitive?” Well, this is the book version. Throughout I was rooting, cursing, and gasping. Harlan Coben knows how to write a gripping thriller. The twists were hard, you don’t seem them coming turns! One thing I do remember is he can wrap up a story tightly and you are satisfied with the end, after having been on such a ride. I foresee a movie or Netflix series in the future.

The only reason I did not rate this story a full 5 stars was because of two detectives, Max and Sarah, whom I thought were more like Laurel and Hardy, which was a turn off.

Thank you NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

BIG thanks to both Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of I Will Find You!

Expected publication March 14, 2023

Five years ago, an innocent man began a life sentence for murdering his own son. Today he found out his son is still alive. Now he must break out of prison to save his son, clear his own name, and discover the real story of what happened. No sweat, right?

I was thrilled to get my hands on this early copy of I will find you! Usually, I'm a total snob when it comes to books that aren't 100% realistic, but when it's a book written by Mr. Coben, I couldn't care less. This is a well-written book and a fun escape from everyday life. I hated to put it down!!

Excellent

This had a great plot, great characters, and was very well-written. A man is serving time for the murder of his young son. He doesn't remember bludgeoning him, but he was a sleepwalker and figures his life is over after losing his son so he doesn't really care if he is incarcerated for the rest of his life. But when his sister-in-law shows him a picture of a little boy who looks exactly like his boy would have, he decides his only option is to escape and try to find his son.

I enjoyed this book a lot. It was a very fast read. My only regret was that I read it too quickly and now it is over.

Harlan Coben's latest novel I Will Find You amazed me. It is a cleverly plotted tale of a man in prison who learns that the son he murdered is not dead after all. So what does he do now? The answer is what makes the novel so unique. In typical Coben fashion, he sets out the plot in careful steps to keep the reader's interest. He sure kept mine!
Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. I loved it!

Granted, this one stretches the believability factor past its upper limit, but so what? It's definitely worth sitting back and enjoying the ride, and hey - this is fiction, after all. At the heart of the story is David Burroughs, five years into his life sentence in prison after being convicted of murdering his young son Matthew. He and his wife Cheryl are divorced, Cheryl is remarried and pregnant and he's refused to see any visitors ever since his first day of incarceration. From Day One, of course, he's insisted that he's innocent.

Suddenly, his entire world - or what it has become - is turned upside down. He gets a visit from Cheryl's sister, Rachel, who brings a photograph that brings them both to tears; taken at a theme park, it's a current photo of a boy roughly eight years old who is the spitting image of Matthew. What's more, he has the same distinctive birthmark on his face as David and Cheryl's beloved - but years-ago dead and buried - son. With just one look, David and Rachel are convinced that the mangled body David found on the day of the murder wasn't Matthew. So now what?

The what, of course, is what the rest of the story is about. For openers, there's David's plan to escape from prison (ah, whatever could go wrong with that), followed by the intent to visit the witness whose testimony sealed the jury's verdict and learning who the real victim and killer were and - most important - finding Matthew. Standing smack-dab in David's way are FBI agents Max Bernstein and his partner, Sarah - characters who can be somewhat amusing in a work of fiction but in real life would be two of the most obnoxious, reprehensible officers of the law I'd never want to meet.

From that point on, it's an action-packed chase - but I can't reveal any of the details without spoiling it for other readers. I'll just say it kept me turning the pages (well, thumbing my Kindle) right up to the end that comes with a well-deserved twist. Very enjoyable, and many thanks to the publisher, via NetGalley, for giving me the opportunity to read and review a pre-release copy.

I'm a sucker for Coben's books and this one was just as thrilling as I'm used to! David is a felon as he's accused of killing his son, Matthew and has spent the last five years in prison. Of course he has no memory of doing this but his neighbor claims she witnessed him burying the bat that has his fingerprints on it. Things get out of control...well, everywhere and David must figure out for himself what happened as his then-wife is remarried and the only "evidence" is a photo that seems a little too unreal. All you need. If you adore Coben's books then you know you have little chance of figuring it out, but the ride is always worth it!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!
(And on a related note, I met Coben at the L.A. Times Festival of Books back in 2007 and he is the most gracious and kind author I've met--and I've met a lot)!

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Grand Central for this advance readers copy of I Will Find You, in exchange for an honest review. This is the story of David Burroughs, who is serving a prison sentence for the murder of his son. We are told upfront that he does not believe he committed the murder but, since he does not have the will to fight as a result of the pain of his son’s death, he continues serving time without complaint. However, shortly into the story, David received evidence that his son may still be alive and this sets off the events of the story including David’s escape and search to find him.

This was a fast paced story with an interesting premise that kept me quickly reading to see what would happen. I enjoyed the different perspectives that the story was told from, including first person from the narrator and third person from all of our other characters. I think this contributed to the quick pace of the book and I enjoyed getting to see how different parts of the story evolved, while our main character was continuously on the move.

While I found the ending to this story a bit predictable, I did enjoy a few specific twists that I think tied up the loose ends nicely. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good thriller to get lost in!

Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

A terrible crime is committed and David Burroughs is now in a maximum security prison for life. However, when he receives a visitor one day everything he thought he knew is flipped upside down. David plans an escape from prison and is determined to find out the truth about what happened that night.

This wasn't my favorite Harlan Coben book. It was a little bit (or a lot) predictable. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it but from the beginning I had a solid idea of where the story was going. The two FBI agents, Max and Sarah, were pretty annoying, although I think that was the point. Overall, it was a quick fun read.
