The book has an interesting premise, but the execution is not the best. Written in first-person-present, it's a shame the author and editor haven't looked closer at what was written, as the tense has a habit of changing from one sentence to another. Or even in the same sentence.

"I didn't even know where I am going" should be "I don't even know where I'm going".

Some of the messed tense roads like a F9nd/Replace of past-tense words without checking their context. The format of the kindle version I was gifted is also messed up, sometimes with paragraphs ending part-way through a sentence, chapter headings not on their new page, and a graphic half-way through each page.

The story itself is exciting, and once I turned off my inner editor, it was enjoyable. Thanks for the read. As I ground so many issues with this book, I will not share the review publicly. Good luck getting it all fixed up.

I would like to thank Xlibris and NetGalley for granting me this ARC in exchange for writing an honest review!

I picked this ARC because I needed a dose of a dystopian book. Beyond glad for reading this book as I was engrossed and very much into this story. This dystopian book takes place in a wasteland (hence the title) and it's very graphic (so much gore). Regardless of my fear of AI, this book was incredible and so well written. I loved the illustrations at the end of each chapter and this book gets the award of "making me weep in the first 30 pages". I have no clue why I can't find the book at GoodReads (it's called: The Chronicles: Wasteland") but I totally recommend it to any dystopian/AI book lover.

Comments on the characters:
- "his chocolate brown hair" ahh I can literally imagine that.
- Chase and his brother have such a wholesome sibling relationship.
- I feel like the main character's character was somehow unstable? like he enjoyed doing things that shouldn't be fun or smiled at. He gave me psycho vibes and it left me creeped out (I still enjoyed the book).
- Bullet is lowkey treated unfairly, yes he is an arsehole but still.

"so close but out of our reach"

"I keep denying what my eyes are showing me, what I see right now has to be some kind of nightmare, but it's not, it's reality."

"This is the beginning of the end...
No one is coming to save us..."
