Getting inside the mind of a serial killer is not my idea of fun.
This is the first book I've read in this series. The plot is well done with lots of twists and more red herrings than the Thames. Very interesting.
I requested and received an EARC from Bookouture via NetGalley.

Three Windows is the 12th in the Lottie Parker series. It’s a decent police procedural but I’m beginning to think that Ragmullin Ireland is filled with nothing but serial killers.
I somehow missed the 11th in the series, so I feel I missed something in the personal lives of the team. Everyone is on edge and snarky with each other. Lottie’s mom is starting to exhibit signs of dementia and it just broke my heart for Lottie. Boyd’s dealing with his conniving ex-wife.
The investigation starts with the dead, mutilated body of an unknown woman. She has been tortured and her body dumped. In less than a day, another member of her widow’s support group goes missing from her home, leaving her two young children unattended.
I wasn’t as enthralled with this story as prior ones. For starters, I’m starting to feel like Gibney is writing to a formula. In addition to the omniscient viewpoint of Lottie, her team and the targets, we always hear from the killer, who always seems to be into torture. The targets always have secrets they refuse to share with the detectives. And nothing ever seems to go right in the lives of the team. Having said that, I didn’t guess the killer. But I found the motive behind the deaths to be weak.
My thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of this book.

Lottie Parker has always had a lot on her plate being a young widow and having a difficult relationship with her mother hasn't helped. But now her mother has dementia and is fighting against Lottie even more than ever. Added to this her sergeant and fiancé Mark Boyd is distracted because of his own personal problems. It would seem there couldn't be a worse time to have to deal with one of the most confusing cases she has come across but Lottie works best when she's up against it.
This is a complicated story told with Patricia Gibney's usual flair for the dramatic. From page one I was hooked and couldn't put the book down. As long as she keeps producing work like this I'll keep on reading.

Complex serial killer thriller will keep you guessing.

This twelfth book in one of my favorite detective series is longer and much more complicated than previous installments. Lots of characters to keep straight and a case that has more than the usual number of grisly murders. Lottie Parker and her colleagues are also experiencing some team infighting and drama that puts everyone at odds with others.

The Ragmullin team is investigating a series of disappearances with the beaten and mutilated bodies subsequently being found in unusual spots. It seems that the deaths are connected to a group of women who have come together to support each other after becoming widows. What secrets are they hiding that has made them a target for a deranged killer?

I enjoyed this one but it is not one of my favorites in the series. Very convoluted motive for all the murders but the red herrings kept me trying to work out who was doing all the killing. I like the main character, Lottie, but her family annoys me and please -- let the woman bathe and eat once in awhile. It's past time for Lottie to get some happiness in her personal life as well.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this e-book ARC to read and review. I can recommend the series and would also suggest anyone interested start from the beginning and read them in order.

This is the twelfth book in the DI Lottie Parker series by author Patricia Gibney. I was introduced to this series rather late so have read the books in no particular order. I am still getting to fully know the characters and all their traits but the well written plots make excellent reading.

Widow Éilis Lawlor disappears in the middle of the night while her two little children sleep unaware of what is happening. The children are completely reliant on their mother Eilis since their father’s tragic death and it is going to be a difficult case for DI Lottie Parker to deal with. When Lottie arrives at the house she notices Éilis’s house keys and phone still lying on the kitchen counter, which only adds to her initial fears for tor Eilis’s safety.

It is not long before Eilis’s body is found by a nearby lake, her mouth is covered with duct tape and she is wrapped in an unfamiliar yellow dress. Lottie’s worst fears have been confirmed and she is determined to find the perpetrator of this terrible crime. Lottie investigations reveal that Éilis was a member of a support group for widows and subsequent incidents also have links to this group. Eilis friend Jennifer is found dead on a rubbish heap, wrapped in a yellow dress.

Further investigations show that in Jennifer has lived a reclusive life since the death of her husband and she has remained in her home other than to attend meetings with the group. Jennifer has been out of work for some time as well but when Lottie questions the other women about Jennifer’s isolation, they claim to know nothing.

There is something fishy about the group and Lottie is certain that someone in the group is not telling the complete truth. The race is on for Lottie to solve the crime before further people lose their lives.

I like the way the author keeps her books moving and interesting without rushing the story. Excellent characters and plots are well crafted making them very enjoyable reads.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Another brilliant book from Patricia. Some great characters who are like our friends now. Lottie, Boyd, Kirby and the station staff. A busy time for the all with a serial killer on the loose and a few suspects to keep them busy. I love the fact that the topic of dementia is creeping in with Rose and how they are dealing with it.

The Widow's Club, for women who have experienced loss of their partner or husband. A member of the club disappears in the middle of the night, and her two children are left alone in the house. Detective Lottie Parker takes the case and more women disappear and are found dead, brutally murdered.
Lottie finds that all the women are somehow linked, and then men are being murdered. Why??
Lottie and her team are racing to try and prevent more people being murdered.
In the midst of this, Lottie's personal life seems to be falling apart, and those of her team as well. They have a lot to contend with.

Another excellent book by Patricia Gibney. She never fails to deliver a gripping novel. So many twists and turns that your head reels!

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Love this author and read most of her books! I liked the idea behind the novel and the execution of that idea was impressive. The writing style was simple and effective and the overall flow of the story felt very smooth. I read this book in one sitting.

This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. This author is talented at writing a book of mystery and intrigue. The characters come alive on the pages, but there are just so many. That was confusing. I had a difficult time following each one. The story moved slowly, but there was much suspense and also red herrings. Secrets…
