Hello! While browsing on NetGalley I was struck by the graphic novel “Rivers of London: Deadly Ever After”.
Only by reading it I have discovered that it is the tenth volume of a Mystery Urban Fantasy series that consists of novels and graphic novels.
The story was created and written by Ben Aaronovitch in collaboration with Celeste Bronfman. The graphic part was done by José María Beroy, David Cabeza, Jordi Escuin Llorach, and Jim Campbell.
Published by Titan Books, the paperback will be released on January 3rd, 2023.
Thank you NetGalley and Titan Books for the chance of reading it in exchange for an honest review.

If you're intrigued by the plot but scared by the length of the series, fear not. The characters are recurring, but the stories are standalone. In fact, I had no trouble understanding the dynamics between the characters, even though I didn't know them.

The protagonists of this tenth story are Chelsea and Olympia, demi-goddesses, daughters of the goddess of the Thames Beverly. They are twins, very close, troublemakers and a little spoiled.
While camping in the woods, they uncover a berry tree that has been hidden by magic for centuries.
Little could they know that the simple gesture would cause a lot of troubles.
Fairytales come true because of a mysterious picture book, but who is behind the events?
With the detectives busy, it's up to the twins to solve the case and save London.

The graphic novel can be read really fast, it's about a hundred pages and the story is interesting.
As I said, it can easily be read as a standalone, although - it goes without saying - that knowing the characters and the context would certainly have made reading it very different.
The idea behind it is what conquered me - fairytales that come to life and "take possession" of ordinary people. The presence of fairytales -really- is secondary.
I think this graphic novel is more of a compendium to give more space to the twins, make them grow in some way and make them understand what consequences have using magic in a reckless way.
The mystery component is very tenuous, since the detectives are busy with another case and the mystery is easy to guess. After all, I repeat, I think it is a way to give the twins something to do, and they throw themselves into this adventure.

I really liked the fairytale puns of the titles and the presentations of the context, consistent with the whole story.
The illustrations are really beautiful; I loved the colors and the lines of the drawing. They feel very natural and magical at the same time.

It's a very nice story, but nothing phantasmagorical.
Perfect if you want to read something magical, but not too demanding. Furthermore, it could convince you to read series! It looks really interesting!

🌱THE EXCELLENT
~ Troublesome twins camping
~ Random hot menzes
~ Unfolding mysteries & sus looking people

While cruising, training & smoking in the woods 🙄, Olympia & Chelsea come across a hot vegan FFF & a magical mulberry tree, that unbeknownst to them was keeping a seal in place. Their irresponsible attitude releases a seal & the onslaught of bloody fairy tales on a group of friends liming in the forest. As the sisters learn to take responsibility for their actions & investigate the cause of the attacks, they learn that losing each-other would be the end of their fairy-tale.

🦖🤔💭
A quick and entertaining read. I have been waiting to get my hands on the Rivers of London books, so this was a good intro to what I am guessing some of the stories are about. 🤔 I wish the voice was more mature, but I guess it may be for the comic.

✨𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱.

🌱THE MEH
~ Looking down on Cats the musical 😒
~ Very young sounding narrative 💁 (I may just be too aged)

♡🌱 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗲 ;)

Ok so I was not aware this was book 10. This is my first exposure to the Rivers of London series and I did not do my research first. That is what I get for saying "Ohh pretty cover I need" and requesting before actually reading anything about it.

The scans were pretty bad, so the art was blurry. I tried reading it on my Chromebook and the art was just too blurry to give a fair review to. The letters were very well done, they didn't interfere with the art and were easy to read. The story was ok. Probably would be better if I knew anything about it.

So 3 stars for now. I am intrigued enough that I will be looking for book 1.

Thank you Titan Comics & NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this great book. This is a great twisted fairy tale that is part of the series. I wasn’t aware of that fact before I requested this book, but it didn’t matter. I was easily able to follow the plot, the characters were realistic and it was an overall fun read. Would recommend it to anyone who enjoys twisted fairy tales and would look into the rest of the series.

I've been meaning to get into Rivers of London, and was excited to read this standalone graphic novel! Thanks NetGalley and Titan Books for the arc!

This was pretty good, but felt very YA, which I wasn't quite expecting. The art was pretty good, I loved the foxes (foxes are always my favourite), and the funny quips were entertaining. It would have been nice if there was a bit more substance to this, but that's what makes it feel YA and that's ok. It was an entertaining and quick read.

An interesting look at what would happen if someone had the ability to bring fairy tales to life.

While the 10th in the Rivers Of London series, the fact I haven't read any of the previous episodes didn't ruin my enjoyment of this story. Following regular (I gather) characters Chelsea and Olympia as they seek to restore the lives of some local teens who have become unwitting fairytale characters after the girls inadvertently opened a tree nymph portal. This is an entertaining journey involving sisterly sleuthing, family history and lashings of modern day magic.

Great art work and engaging characters I'll be seeking out in future.

A strong edition to the Rivers of London series, following interesting characters. I would recommend for readers who have finished the novels and are looking for more from that world. I like that you get to see Bev and the new twins, as these Olympia and Chelsea are not likeable so it’s great that there are other beloved characters from the series. I will be buying this for my libraries collection,

RoL: Deadly Ever After is a non-Peter, non-Nightingale graphic novel featuring Beverley's the river goddess's younger sisters who have not featured much in the series. The twisted fairy tales are an interesting take, and the artwork is great, but I didn't enjoy it quite as much as I have some of the others in the series. I did, however, like the Foxes, and am glad they were included.

This works as a stand-alone, and is enjoyable for fans of the series.

Recommended - 3.75 out of 5 stars.

I received an advance copy from Titan Comics via NetGalley, in exchange for my honest review.

My thanks to both NetGalley and Titan Books and Comics for an advance copy of this graphic novel adventure filled to the brim with mystical spirits, fairy creatures, monsters and revenge.

A city as old (olde) as London has a lot of ghosts. With these ghosts are creatures whose thoughts and spirits are older in many ways, than the city itself. With their own ways of doing things and ways of getting back at those who have done them wrong. Whose feelings about right and wrong can switch like a teenager's mood. And these are the heroes of the story. Deadly Ever After is the tenth volume in the Rivers of London graphic novel series, which is a companion to the popular book series. Author Ben Aaronovitch is joined by Andrew Cartmel and Celeste Bronfman, along with illustrator José María Beroy in a story filled with dark creatures, family secrets and a bit of the fae to make things difficult.

Twins Olympia and Chelsea, daughters of Mama Thames are messing around in the woods while watching campers have fun, when they decide to do what they think is a nice deed, which as no good deed goes unpunished, does not work out. Soon their friends are under attack from fairy tale illustrations from a Victorian artist who disappeared over a 150 years earlier, and does not like the look of the modern world, nor those who want to keep him from his revenge. The twins take up the case traveling all over London trying to make things right. However no one seems to be telling the truth and some magic is just to old and powerful for even these twins to fight.

A good story set in the Rivers of London universe dealing with characters who don't usually get a chance to be in the spotlight. These stories are good as they expand the universe, filling in facts and providing fresh views to the books, and giving new stories to readers both new and old. The main characters I think are in the book for maybe 3 pages, which can be disappointing for some, but I still enjoyed the tale. The twins are interesting, and the plot moves well, never bogging down, and being pretty clear once the story is explained and the motivations made clear. I'm sure having the author as an active participant helped keep the story in line. The art was good with clear and consistent art featuring the characters, making the monsters look disturbing, and in making London seem like a city where stuff like these happens all the time.

Recommended for fans of the series. Again it doesn't have the main characters, but is still a good story and using other characters quite well with a little filling out of their stories. Familiarity will help, but Titan is very good about putting in character guides and having little bits to explain who people are, their relations and why things are going the way they are which is very helpful. A very good story and perfect for people who will have holiday gift cards in their pockets.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for Rivers Of London: Deadly Ever After coming out January 24, 2023. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Drawings from a mysterious fairy tales book created in the late 1800s are having a big effect in the 21st century. The illustrations were painted by a Victorian artist named Jeter Day. One night he disappeared in an enchanted forest when he was spirited away by tree nymphs. Due to magic, stories like Little Red Riding Hood and The Little Mermaid are coming to life in modern times.

Olympia and Chelsea are the daughters of the river goddess Mama Thames. They accidentally break the enchantment. Jeter has become twisted by his time spent with the nymphs. He doesn’t like the new century and will do anything to get back.

With Peter and Nightingale busy on another case, it’s up to the sisters Olympia and Chelsea with the help of the Foxes to stop Jeter. Will this story end happily ever after? Or will they be stuck in a fairy tale forever?

First of all, I love graphic novels! I’ve read several in this series and I think they’re really fun. This one did feel different than the other ones I’ve read in the series, but I still loved it! I love the fairy tales coming to life aspect. The two sisters were funny and I enjoyed their banter. The story was pretty straightforward. I thought the graphics were well done.

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys fairy tales and graphic novels!

Read Rivers of London years ago so jumped into this! Not my personal favourite art style, but a good introduction into the series if you prefer graphic novels.

An enjoyable read that can be a nice jumping in point to this series if you haven’t read it before. It’s interesting, engaging, and really interesting! I don’t know if this series is for me as a whole, but I definitely enjoyed this particular edition!
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

I’ve been hearing about those Rivers of London novels for years so I thought it would be my chance to get a glimpse of the world. I had never read any book from this universe but this volume can be read as a standalone with the explications at the beginning. I imagine it’s more enjoyable if you already know the characters though.
Personally I liked this one but didn’t love it. The stories revolved around fairy tales and was nice with some action and humour. I probably won’t read new graphic novels but I might try the first novel in 2023. I was hoping to learn more about the main characters in this book but they barely appeared here.
For a graphic novel it’s sad to get a copy with a big watermark on each page. I understand the reason but it makes it harder to appreciate the art.

Thank you for Netgalley and Titan Comics for this advanced copy.

This graphic novel had such a great adventure story. But, sometimes, I couldn't see any different between Olympia and Chelsea. She was twins, but, yes, you sill need to differ these characters. Also I noticed some panels in one page had (almost) same sizes. It would be confusing for some people, especially if they were new to Graphic Novel.

Overall, I enjoyed it.

Olympia and Chelsea, daughters of Mama Thames got themselves in a bit a pickle by revealing a mulberry tree hidden by magic. Opening that tree to the world freed Jeter Day into the modern world and he is not happy. To make his feelings known, he starts reenacting scenes from a book of fairy tales he had drawn 199 years earlier - a vegetarian becoming a ravenous wolf attacking a grandma, a prince turning into a frog, and daughter falling into a coma after being given an apple from her stepmother. They finally traced down Jeter's granddaughter and figured out what was going on. Then they need to come up with a plan which did not quite work out so then they had to ask for help which came at a cost. A fun romp in the Rivers of London Universe!

Thanks Netgalley for the chance to read this volume!

After I noticed this comic was part of The Rivers of London series I was hopeful I’d get the opportunity to read it.

I really enjoyed the story and the twist to classic fairytales. I liked the graphics and found it to be a really engaging read. The foxes were funny and there was some good wit throughout. I look forward to continuing my journey through this author and World.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the opportunity to read this in advance.

Thank you NetGalley for an e-arc of this book. Firstly, I have to say that like the Rivers of London series in general and even though I haven't read a lot of graphic novels in this universe, I was really excited to read this one.

The story is a typical one for this series. You have a mystery and interesting magic. The characters are well portrait and you fly through the story. The graphic was beautiful and it fitted the story perfectly. It was so much fun. I highly recommend it.

I did not realise that this was volume 6 in a series.
Think I lost something with that. Enjoyed the artstyle but I don't think I'll read anymore.

Old fairytale coming to life in the current time and they bring all kinds of problems. The story is good and the illustrations were so good. I'm loving this series.

I had not initially realized that "Rivers Of London: Deadly Ever After" was the 10th graphic novel in a series before requesting on NetGalley to read it. I had no idea who these characters were since I had not read any of the other books previously, but I was able to get through the whole book relatively well. The story was easy to follow and interesting. The illustrations were also really good.
