I wanted to like this but found the mystery to not be that enticing and I wanted more from this. The overall thrilling aspects were... less than desired.

Ben Aaronovitch's Bücher sind alle genial, das Graphic Novel dazu einfach ein Muss für alle Rivers of London Fans!
Absolut empfehlenswert.

First off, I thought this was the first one in the series and that I had checked before requesting this ARC on NetGalley, it was the 10th. While the story full stood on its own I would have loved to have some of the other background information. It definitely got me interested in the rest of the series though.
On to this graphic specifically, I enjoyed the fairytale “retellings” aspect of it. Olympia and Chelsea were both fun characters and it was fun to see how they solved the problem they created. The art work was great and it was so easy to follow the story.
I will definitely be looking into both other graphics and the books in this series.

I have to start by saying, when I started this book I didn't realize it was several books into the series. Now, the book says that you can read the books as standalone, but I would disagree. Several characters and events were alluded to and I couldn't help but feel I was missing out on important background information. I liked the concept of this series, but struggled with the plot jumping around and, especially for a graphic novel, there was a lot of telling vs. showing. The narrator's comments almost seemed to more summarize the page or a whole scene that didn't occur. This book felt rushed and, for me, needed a bit more depth and focus. The images were gorgeous!

New twist on fractured fairy tales. Amazing art. Missing character arc, might happen in parallel novels.

Having not read any of the previous books in this series I was worried this would be difficult to follow. However the summary sounded so interesting that I requested it anyway.

Not knowing any of the characters or previous structure going in didn't really bring down my enjoyment of this one. I thought the overall plot was really cool and I loved the idea of the twisted fairy tales coming to life. I think the two main characters are funny and enjoyable. Despite this being a little short compared to other graphic novels I've read before I felt it did a fantastic job of encompassing the story it was telling from start to finish. I didnt feel confused having only read this one and I think others would easily be able to pick it up and enjoy it.

Illustrations from a mysterious book of fairy tales drawn in the late 1800s are coming to life in the 21st Century and causing havoc. The illustrations were originally painted by a Victorian artist called Jeter Day who disappeared one night in an enchanted forest when he was spirited away by tree nymphs never to be seen again…

Now, with the enchantment accidentally broken by Olympia and Chelsea, daughters of the river goddess Mama Thames, Jeter, twisted by his time spent with the nymphs, has returned to our world bitter and resentful. It is a world he neither recognizes nor likes. All he wants is his life returned to him and woe betide any man who stands in his way.

With Peter and Nightingale busy on another case, it falls to sisters Olympia and Chelsea with the help of the Foxes and Abigail to stop Jeter and save the day.

The tenth in the Rivers of London graphic novel series is a fun side adventure. This is definitely not a starting point, as it assumes that you know the characters featured in the first nine graphics and the first 8 Rivers of London Novels.
The illustrations are bright and colorful and the story is amusing, bringing to life fairy tales in a disturbing way.
Recommended to those who have read the rest of the series.

I have been a fan of Ben Aaronovitch’s adult fantastic books (and What Abigail did that Summer for younger readers) , and have ravenously consumed them all. So this comic setting is very familiar. It doesn’t quite have the same feel as the books, maybe a little/lot softer. Which isn’t a bad thing as I’m sure younger readers can dip right in. But as an adult I enjoyed the comic; good story with the usual layers of fantasy and humour. It’s also neat that the leads are Chelsea and Olympia, who so far have been mainly minor side characters in the books. I’ll be back to consume the other comics in this series that from the art work seem to be in the planning. Thank you to Titan Books and NetGalley for the ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.

I did not realize this was book 10 in the series when I first requested it and picked it up. I thought it was book 1 - as such my rating and review are affected by not having experienced the character development & plot other readers of the series have experienced. I will talk specifically about this book, and try not to let the lack of context colour my review.

The concept was pretty fun, I loved the twists on all the fairy tales coming to life. The villain’s motivations felt very forced, & unrealistic, which was a bit distracting. Overall, this was a fun mix of fantasy, mystery, & humour.

I have read numerous books within the River of London series and this Graphic novel is what I want more of. THis is perfect for those who want an easy read within the Rivers of London series. The plot follows the similar style that Aaronovitch uses and lets just say it is perfect. I want to read more from the twins solving crime. The illustrations are brilliant too. I would thoroughly recommend to people who like things like Constantine but do not want as much gore but as much mysticism as is in the Sandman comics.

Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the ARC.

I didn't know there were books of this comic so at first I was a little confused by the story and the file on my kindle but that didn't disturb my reading so much. The story is captivating, the characters very well built and the illustrations are beautiful. I love fantasy and of course this comic was going to win me over.

I will definitely read the complete series to better understand the characters and the whole story proposed by the author.

I love the rivers of London books. These graphic novels a little pockets of joy in between longer novels. I love the humour, the sassy characters and the detailed illustrations. Ben Aaronovitch has created this fabulous world and these graphic novels really bring it to life. I love the fact that the images I had of the characters after reading the novels matches the images drawn in these book.

I'm a huge fan of this series, and it was cool to see it presented in graphic novel format. I enjoyed seeing the depictions of the characters, and I especially enjoyed the fact that this story focused more on characters other than Peter and Nightingale, even though I do love them and their stories.

In this story, we get to know Olympia and Chelsea, Beverly's sisters, a lot better. They're pulled into a magical situation and since Peter and Nightingale are currently occupied, they have to handle it on their own. I liked the incorporation of fairy tales into the plot, and while this was a quick read, it kept me intrigued and engaged from start to finish. I also loved seeing some of my favorite characters pop up, like Beverly, the twins, Abigail, and the foxes.

This was a fun read, and it doesn't require too much understanding of the series to get into, even if it isn't necessarily a standalone.

As I have the first Rivers of London novel on my bookshelf (unread) I thought this would be a great introduction to the series but I think this graphic novel is itself part of a series with a whole set of other characters.

That being said I did enjoy this tale although the kindle version didn't work for me and the net galley version was prominantly watermarked and the illustrations very low resolution (although the text was sharp and clean).

It's a good story well told in graphic from as characters take on fairy tale personas after an incident in the woods.
I think it's just a little misleading to say it's by Ben Aaronovitch as that isn't the case and I have no idea if it's anything like his style of writing.

It has given me that little push needed to start the ROL novel though.

Thanks to Titan for the chance to read the ARC.

I’m a huge fan of the Rivers of London books. I’ve read all of them and adore all the characters. It was great to see them in graphic novel format and this one has the great elements of the main set of books; the humour, the wit, the magic.

I always find graphic novels a little hard to read though, for me they always seem a little disjointed and messy in terms of reading the development of the plot but I think that’s a fault with me!

I loved that this had Abigail and the foxes. Seriously some of my favourite characters. And the main story set throughout this novel was a great one and well thought out. Fairytales coming to life? Frogs turning into princes? Colour me intrigued!

It’s great for those who know the series and love graphic novels. I’ll keep trying to get into reading them as I’m a normal book reading fan so graphic novels are a different way of reading for me!

Although it did not feature the main characters in the series, which I have known for years now and enjoy following, I still enjoyed the story and it is well drawn.

Anche se non raccontava dei personaggi principali della serie, che conosco ormai da anni e che seguo volentieri, la storia mi é piaciuta lo stesso ed é ben disegnata.

I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.

Being unfamiliar with the series, I thought this graphic novel would be a fun way to introduce myself to this series. It was really fun! I didn't need to know a lot of back story to enjoy to tale presented in the graphic novel, but got a know a few characters and enjoy a good story about fairy tales going awry.

2.5 stars but rounding up because it's my fault I didn't see this was very deep in a series!

Interesting take and spin on Grimm fairytale and a very realistic and fun take on magic and a secret magic organization.
