I adore gnomes and was excited to get to see and review this children’s book.THE HIDDEN WORLD OF GNOMES by Lauren Soloy is so charming that I can see this becoming a child’s favorite book quite easily.

You are introduced to the wonder of the gnomes that inhabit the world around you, and how they live their lives. You get to learn how things work depending on which season of the moon it us, what sort of jobs the do, and how they appreciate all the little joys of nature.

The illustrations are as equally beautiful as the writing. I truly enjoyed this book and think it would enhance any child’s library. 5 stars!

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Random House Publishing, Tundra Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This was a cute little intro to certain flora and fauna of the forest. I can see this being a fun and magical educational experience for children, but can be enjoyed by anyone looking for a whimsical little moment.

It was engaging and fun to see the little gnomes helping in various ways in the forest, and served as a good reminder to notice the beauty in the small things and to treat those things with respect.

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a sweet story with whimsical art, the book is filled with mini stories about different gnomes and their place in the gnomes world.

The language is more sophisticated than an average young- children book, so it should be read with a grownup.

Gnomes and their magical world come to life and invite in with secrets, tales, activities and more.

This book is all about gnomes, every type, every habit, and every other aspect one might dream of. There are wood gnomes, flower gnomes, and so many more. While each one receives attention, this book takes several steps beyond a usual picture book tale and opens up an entire wealth of insight into the realm of gnomes. In other words, this author has done her homework and lets the knowledge flow with imaginative fantasy and fun.

Stories invite readers to dream of this magical world and introduce the gnomes with variety and cheerful thoughts. Gnome activities and thoughts, such as in lists for gnome words, keep things gently-playful and endearing. The activities, which include everything from costume making to recipes and much more, not only allow readers to touch into the 'gnome' world but also offer great activities for those days when they need something to do. These activities will need some adult assistance, but they are definitely do-able and offer some fun.

The illustrations are lovely and enjoyable to flip through as each gnome and scene gains magical tones. Plus, the entire read holds words of encouragement, warmth, and gentle advice. So, it's a treasure chest of many things.

This is an adorable book for those who love to tap into the mystic world or dream of gnomes hiding in their own yards. I do see this one as bringing a smile to many readers young and old. I will be keeping my eyes open for the printed version as I know some readers who are going to adore this one.

A fun, whimsical dive into the world of gnomes. This book features adorable illustrations, a wide variety of gnome characters, and all sorts of gnome-lore. The book is loosely structured around the gnomes' lunar calendar and includes pages with mini-stories, recipes, costumes, exercises, and more, often with a focus on finding simple joys.

The Hidden World of Gnomes, by Lauren Soloy. It's a winter storm day today in Nova Scotia and I'm brightening it up by rereading my advance copy of this absolutely radiant picture book!  If you're young or young at heart you may be getting a copy of this as a gift from me this year. Publication date June 20.  The author is a friend to gnomes and she's been studying them for years.  This is the first time we've been offered an insight into their world. There are ten gnomes such as Abel Potter, who invents musical instruments; Hotchi-Mossy, a moss farmer; and  Bonnie Plum the baker. The gnome year is divided into seasonal moons which signal to the gnomes what activities to do. They have their own words for appreciating scenery and they get together in circle dances. Like little people everywhere, they love to dress up in fun costumes. Through the book, the author provides vignettes about various joys: the joy of doing an important job, the joy of receiving a letter, the joy of a quiet moment….  This is a spectacular book in pictures and words and I hope it receives the wide acclaim it deserves. I can see tie-in toys (finger puppets?), an animated series, but most of all, an invitation for children of all ages to tap into their own appreciation for the natural world and inspiration to find their own joys. Congratulations @laurensoloy and @penguinrandomca @tundrabooks You have a winner on your hands. Thanks to @netgalley

Come find a delightful place to explore just within your vision. According to this book, gnomes live nearby in nature, and humans could see them if they looked closely. Gnomes come in great variety and celebrate a new holiday season each month. We see each month’s celebration and featured gnome in charming illustrations here. This is a fun read for young and old.

Thank you so much to Netgalley, Lauren Soloy, and the publisher for the eARC!

I adore this book. This is such a feel good little read for any age that encourages celebrating the little things in life like how nice it feels sending and receiving letters, whispering goodnight to someone and hearing it whispered back, dancing with friends, etc.

"Circle dances can happen for numerous reasons, spontaneous or scheduled. Some examples include a new seedling, or mushroom appearing, a full moon, or just for fun."

Another quote I thought was adorable:
"A list of gnome words and phrases for appreciating the scenery: gazing, listening, bumblebuzzing, growing lichen, rock-talking, blossom bathing, heart-seeing.

I also love the artwork, I want to have every page up as posters around my house and library!

This is such a fun little book that I think many will love!

Now if you need me, I'll be in the forest looking for gnomes ~
