Maggie/Meg/Margaret lives in three time periods - 1861, 1941, and 2001. On her 21st birthday, she must choose which timeline she will live in permanently and give up the other two lives. With the Civil War and Pearl Harbor looming, Maggie must navigate the impending devastation while being unable to alter the course of history.

The research that went into this book is evident! I really enjoyed all three timelines. I appreciate that Gabrielle chooses time frames to write about that are not typically selected. Her attention to detail is fabulous, and I love how she interweaves the story using multiple sets of characters. This series is a fun twist on the normal time travel story.

I really liked that the romance in this book was more central. I found it to be a vast improvement from book one’s modern storyline, and I wasn’t sure who she would choose!

I am really looking forward to book three in this series!

What a wild ride this book was! From start to finish, it kept me guessing, as I was constantly trying to anticipate the direction it would take.

This is the second book in a series of time crossing families. I definitely recommend you read book 1 first, although in my honest opinion, I enjoyed book 2 even more.

This book follows Maggie, a girl born with a gift. When she falls asleep in one time period, she wakes up in another. She is consecutively living three lives in Civil War 1861, World War II 1941, and 2001. I mean, whoa! That’s a lot to take on!

In each life, she is drawn to healing and striving to expand her medical knowledge as much as her time period will allow. Being surrounded by war, this gives her ample opportunities, and gives us as readers an eye-opening experience to each time period while begging to ask the question, how do you hold knowledge of the future and not be tempted to change it? And how does she possibly choose, when on her 21st birthday she can only pick one life to continue in?

I love the questions this book presented me with. There’s a lot of complex moral dilemmas and thought-provoking nuances woven throughout the story, then add in how love and faith can challenge the choices we make.

“None of us are independent of the ones we love. We are woven together, like a big tapestry, with each color unique and vibrant, but making a larger picture possible. Your woven right here for eternity.”

This part got me, especially knowing Maggie will leave people she loves dearly behind when she eventually forfeits her other lives.

There is also love interest in each era making things interesting. I found myself rooting for different men during different parts of the story, but as it came to a conclusion, I truly felt she made the right choice and was happy with the ending.

This book is Christian fiction, and there are light themes of faith interwoven throughout the book. I appreciated it, and felt like it was nicely done without being preachy.

Thank you to @bethanyhousefiction for the complementary copy, all thoughts are my own.

A Timeless Journey of Faith and Choice

Have you ever finished a book and wished there was a button to turn back the clock so you could re-read it for the first time? In This Moment is that book for me!

There is a reason this series is called Timeless! Gabrielle Meyer brings history to life with yet another fabulous time-crossing narrative with not two but THREE time periods!!

"It sounds like each of your lives prepared you for the plans God has for you." ~ Gabrielle Meyer

In This Moment is one of those books that will leave readers speechless yet simultaneously desperate to shout its praise from the top of a mountain! I wasn’t sure how Gabrielle Meyer would juggle three time periods without making things confusing, but she did a PHENOMENAL job immersing me in the sights, sounds, emotions, and history of each era without leaving me feeling overwhelmed. I knew exactly what was happening and felt excited at the start of each chapter when Maggie would wake in one of her three lives. Though Maggie was unquestionably the shining star with her selflessness and unwavering desire to help others, the supporting characters were equally enchanting and relatable. Like Maggie, I also struggled to determine which life she should choose because they all had qualities that made them great choices. In the end, I think she made a perfect choice, though that’s all I’m going to say about that! ;)

"No matter where you decide to stay, Maggie, you will be a blessing, and that’s exactly why you were created." ~ Gabrielle Meyer

Every page of this book was sensational, but my favorite part of In This Moment was its incredible message of faith and trusting in the Lord that truly set it apart. Through Maggie’s decision, Gabrielle Meyer reminded me of the importance of relying on God’s guidance and surrendering my doubts and fears to Him. The underlying theme of choosing the right path without guilt or doubt also resonated with me deeply.

"It is not your job to fix all the pain in the world, Maggie Hollingsworth. You have been given a special gift, and it carries with it a lot of responsibility, but perhaps God is trying to teach you how to let go and trust Him. Not only with your life, but with the lives of everyone you love." ~ Gabrielle Meyer

In This Moment is a must-read! If you enjoy historical fiction, romance, faith-based storylines, great world-building, and quality writing, then don’t waste another second twiddling your thumbs when you could be turning the pages of this marvelous book! I cannot wait to see which historical events and adventures await us in book three — I’m already counting down to next year!

"We’re all trying to make sense of life. God has given each of us a unique path, one that draws us closer to Him because of the uncertainties and challenges. You’re no different. We all make mistakes and have regrets, but I admire you because you are seeking God’s will. You could have told Him a long time ago what you wanted, but you didn’t. You desire to know what He wants." ~ Gabrielle Meyer

Thank you to NetGalley & Bethany House Publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book before it's publication date! This in no way affected my review, opinions are my own.

Yeah so okay I’m going to be needing the next in the series and I’m going to be needing it ASAP. So. Uh. Yeah.

I picked up the first in this series (When the Day Comes) on a whim last year and I absolutely loved it - I had a little bit of trepidation for the second in the series but honestly I loved this one too!

The entire premise of this series is beyond ingenious - it’s time slip + historical fiction + romance and honestly I’m just here for it. I really enjoyed the timelines she was in (1861 Civil War, 1941 WWII, 2001 right before 9/11) and loved how many parallels Gabrielle Meyer was able to draw between these three time periods, as well as how the MC, Maggie, was able to be some form of healthcare provider in all 3 timelines.

That being said, there were a couple things worth noting: this series has a bit more of a faith thread than I normally read, but I really loved the way that aspect is portrayed. And in this particular volume, there were quick moments where I would get confused at which time period we were in because Maggie’s POV sounded very similar throughout all of them. (A girl from the 1860s shouldn’t sound like a girl from 2001, you know?)

THAT being said, I still genuinely enjoyed this one (and the romance was SWOONWORTHY) and cannot WAIT to see how the next book in the series is going to go!

In This Moment has everything that you want in a good book. A strong main character, Maggie. Wonderful side characters that you grow to care about. It is packed full of adventure and drama. She includes a thread of suspense, romance, and faith. All of these elements are woven together to create this page-turner.

Maggie is a strong female protagonist, but her imperfections and flaws shine through allowing her a chance to point to God (as much as a fictional character can). What better characteristics could you ask for in a main character?!

The historical elements will appeal to those who love historical fiction and those who don’t. Many of the events and people are well-known historical figures which allows anyone to enjoy this book!

I wanted to prolong this reading experience so I chose to read three chapters each night. I really didn’t want this book to end.

Gabrielle Meyer is officially a favorite and I hope she continues to write these books so I can keep reading them.

Oh, and don’t miss her first book in this series either!

I love the idea of this series. It is so interesting and my mind is constantly at work trying to figure out what path Maggie would choose. It did sort of become clear but there were other twists and turns and surprises.

I also love how the author had three major events taking place that we are all familiar with. The most recent one was really intense because most of us lived through that ourselves.

I’m very interesting to see what the author has in story for her next book.

A copy of this book was given to me through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

In This Moment by Gabrielle Meyer has a fascinating concept + compelling heroine! I loved getting another glimpse into Meyer’s story world and, this time, 3 different significant historical eras on the brink of wars. Surprises and twists abound, and I was not quite sure how it would end up until the last few chapters, especially concerning the possible love interests.

I cannot elaborate too much on the various storylines of Maggie’s life because I don’t want to spoil some of the best surprises and constructs of the story. One aspect I can share I absolutely loved is the way the reader sees life through Maggie’s eyes. Like the best crafted stories, this insightful look at a character’s experiences allows the reader to shift perceptions as she learns, grows, triumphs, and even grieves parts of her life that change.

This is a historical romance, but I feel that the romance threads are secondary to the overall personal journey Maggie undertakes. A significant part of her journey, through all of her eras, is a gained awareness that God is present and active in every circumstance, even when it’s harder to discern His role.

Maggie has three different love interests: one charming, one brooding, and one enigmatic — except I immediately liked two of them better for her. In other circumstances such a setup could feel like a love triangle (rectangle?), but I never felt that way about the writing of these characters thanks to the sensitive way it is approached and even considered in Maggie’s mind as she lives her days contemplating her different timelines. I was unsure until I was deeply into the story which was going to be favored by Maggie, and I’m quite happy with the ending and the ultimate hero — he is lovingly aware of Maggie at a selfless level the others didn’t quite reach.

If you enjoy historical romances or the occasional mind bending time travel concept, you should consider adding Gabrielle Meyer’s Timeless novels to your reading list.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the review copy. This is my honest review.

Ah, I have so many thoughts for this book. First of all, I loved it! I was engaged from the very beginning and couldn’t wait to see what would happen next for Maggie! I loved how the author seemed to breathe life into history and bring such pivotal time periods to life. I even loved how it ended (hopefully with another book in the making?).
This series is the first of Gabrielle Meyer’s books that I’ve read and I have so greatly enjoyed both the first book and this one! Her attention to detail and love of history shine through in her writing, especially with 3 different paths to keep straight. Honestly, I was a little surprised how very different this book was from the first in the series. Or maybe more accurately, how very different the characters and their paths were, between the two novels. I’ve found that sometimes, particularly with books written from just one perspective, the characters can start sounding very similar and that definitely wasn’t the case with this one! I adored Maggie and how much she felt called to helping and healing everyone she encountered. I was fascinated with the differences, and also the similarities, of her roles in each path. And her struggle to know what to choose, where to stay, I expect will resonate with anyone trying to discern the “best” option amidst all of the “good” ones.
My family can attest that I stayed up too late more than once, wanting to find out what turn the story would take next! Also, I really want to share which of the love interests I liked the best, but I don’t want to spoil anything or suggest an ending that might not be accurate. So if you want to know, you’ll just have to read it yourself!
Overall, if you enjoy historical fiction, I would highly recommend this book!

*My thanks to the author and publisher for my advanced copy of this book! I was not required to write a review and have not been compensated for it in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.

I really enjoyed this story even with its proximity to the Civil War and World War II, topics I would generally avoid. The author’s storyline was easy to follow despite the three concurrent sub stories. And talk about a crazy love triangle! Try navigating three romantic interests at the same time and knowing you can only pick one. Or imagine having the experience of 60 years of living before you are 21! You’ll just have to read it to find out what I’m talking about.

I really enjoyed this book by Gabrielle Meyer. I enjoyed the first book in this series so I was looking forward to reading this book and it did not disappoint. I loved the historical detail that was in this book and I love the idea of living in different times and then having to chose which one you will stay in. I thought she did a great job of capturing what each group of people would have felt like as they were on the cusp of war. I also loved that Maggie was a healer in all her timelines and she was able to use her knowledge to help people. I also loved how she found her true love as she went about helping serve people. I thought this story was really good and I can’t wait for the next book to come out.

I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors.  A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.

Do reviewers make a difference when recommending a book? They absolutely do for me. I have so many fellow reviewers that I trust so when several of them mention a book and rave over it, I'm going to pick it up and read it. That's what happened with this book. It popped up multiple times in my reading circles and everyone was gushing over it. I knew I had to pick it up. Plus, the combination of genres was just too enticing to me.

Historical Fiction. Time Travel. Romance. Sounds like a good mash up, right? This book had me hooked from the very start. It's a fascinating concept with Maggie living in three alternate time periods. It's like three stories in one, three lives in one. I liked that it didn't hurt my head to try to figure out the time travel aspect and Maggie was such an easy character to like. I was so invested in which pathway she was going to choose. There were some surprises along the way and I always like that too.

Every time I had to put this book down, I was thinking about it and wishing I was back reading it. I love when books have a powerful pull like that. This is actually book two. I didn't read book one but I had absolutely no problems with anything. From what I understand, this book may be a spoiler for the previous book and it's characters though. I will be going back to read that one and I will be following this new to me author and reading whatever comes next. LOVE!!

Content: peril, kissing. Some Christian elements (mention of God and praying, faith)

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live at the start of the American Civil War, Pearl Harbor, and most of us already know what is was like the horrific day of September 11, 2001? Maggie experiences all three time periods and must choose which one to remain in at the start of her 21st birthday. ⁣

historical fiction + time travel + romance ⁣

You know I’m in. I couldn’t wait for my physical copy, so I read on the kindle (thanks to Bethany House )and listened to the audiobook. A complete binge read!

Wow! That is my one-word summary after reading In this Moment by Gabrielle Meyer. If you haven't read Ms. Meyer's incredible books about time crossing, than prepare to be astounded! I thoroughly enjoy the unique intrigue that Ms. Meyer brings to this book with three different time periods, but I also greatly appreciated how Ms. Meyer captured the ordinary and unique challenges, stresses, and decisions that her heroine faced. You may think that a book set in three different time periods would be confusing and full of discord, but Ms. Meyer artfully wove these three historic times into one harmonized plot.
Maggie lives a very unique life as a time crosser. When Maggie goes to sleep at night, she wakes up in a different time, living three lives each set in a different era in 1861, 1941, and 2001. Maggie has seen nearly 60 years worth of living in her young twenty year old body, but on her twenty-first birthday she must choose only one of her three lives to remain in. In her 1861 life, Margaret Wakefield is a senator's daughter in the nation's capitol on the edge of Civil War. She finds her purpose in helping the sick and injured, even though it isn't socially acceptable for a young unmarried woman In 1941 Maggie Hollingsworth is a nurse serving with her sister in D.C. soon to transfer to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. She has a loving supportive family, familiar with her inherited time crossing ability. In 2001 Meg Clarke is a medical student prodigy, learning from the best in the nation's capitol. She has the opportunity to learn how to best help those who are sick and injured in ways well advanced beyond her other two times.
Maggie has vowed to not let herself fall in love or enter any romantic entanglements until she makes her final decision, but eligible and intriguing men in each time period make that decision very complicated. Can Maggie live in each time period, each with its horrors and tragedies without giving away what she knows of the outcome or her secret? Which life will Maggie choose? Will she find love for herself or will her life purpose be found in her service to others? Read this excellent work by Ms. Meyer to find out for yourself!
If I had to choose my favorite historic times, I would choose World War II, the Civil War, and World War I. The fact that In this Moment brings the World War II and Civil War eras alongside the early 2000s is brilliant and nearly bursts my nerdy heart. I appreciated the deep historic context that Ms. Meyer brought to In this Moment which made the readers feel like they were actually walking through the streets of Washington D.C. during 1861, 1941, and 2001.
The characters of In this Moment were incredibly well-crafted, making them easily loved by the readers. I especially was drawn to each of Maggie's family members, especially those who were aware of her time-crossing and her different lives. The love and advice from her family and friends was refreshing and full of sacrificial love. The romantic interests of Maggie in each time period were intriguing, mysterious, and unique. I had my favorite scenes that I may have re-read a time or two ;) , but I think that Ms. Meyer did an excellent job of keeping the plot full of surprise, mystery, completely unexpected plot twists, as well as an ending that will leave you waiting for the next book. In this Moment is a truly excellent work and I am extremely excited to read the following book in Ms. Meyer's outstanding series. Happy readings!

In This Moment is book two in the Timeless series. I read book one, When the Day Comes, last month and then *immediately* began the sequel because I was totally and completely hooked! These books are both 5 star reads for me and will land on my 2023 favorites list. I would *highly recommend* reading When the Day Comes before In This Moment.

Maggie is a time-croser living each day in three different timelines - 1861, 1941, and 2001. It’s such a fascinating concept to see US history through the eyes of Maggie in each of these pivotal moments for the country. I especially loved to see how she was able to use her abilities as a healer in each of the timeframes. I am so incredibly impressed with the way the author weaves together these stories and the ending of this book has me desperate for book 3!!

Read for:
• A story you will NOT want to put down
• Fascinating look at US history
• Time travel done in a very unique way
• A strong female MC
• Christian faith elements
• Love triangle that will keep you guessing

This is an amazing book. Gabrielle Meyer had me from the first page to the last. I would love to read a follow up of this book to see how the characters play out further down the road. This book has it all. Romance, trials, friendship, historical events, heartache and heartwarming. Must read. I was given an advanced reader copy by NetGalley and I am freely leaving my review of this very well written book.

Oh, where do I even begin with Gabrielle Meyer's book In this Moment? Let me tell you, words fail me when it comes to describing just how good this book is! It is an absolute gem of a book! From start to finish, this story takes you on an exhilarating ride through three monumental dates in history, and let me tell you, it's a journey you won't forget!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We follow the incredible journey of Maggie, a natural healer who gets to experience life in 1861, 1941, and 2001. And let me tell you, it's not an easy decision for her. On her 21st birthday, she's faced with choosing one life to live forever while saying goodbye to the other two. Talk about a heart-wrenching choice!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Meyer's writing is simply amazing as she weaves together rich historical details that transport you to each time period, making you feel like you're waking up right alongside Maggie. It's an immersive experience that had me completely hooked. The story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming as Maggie struggles to make her decision, torn between the love and connections she has made in each life. And the way she intertwines a thread of faith in God and His plan for our lives? It's simply beautiful. It adds depth and meaning to the story, reminding us of the power of trusting in God's plan for our lives.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you're a fan of time travel, immersive historical fiction, clean romance, or if you just love Outlander, then the Timeless Series is definitely for you! I couldn't put this book down and was left wanting more at the end. Gabrielle Meyer has truly outdone herself with this stunning novel and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us with the third book in the series. In short, I highly recommend In this Moment to anyone looking for a fantastic read that will leave you feeling uplifted and inspired. So, do yourself a favor and grab a copy. You won't regret it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨While In This Moment can be read as a stand alone novel, I HIGHLY recommend reading the first book When the Day Comes before reading this one. It just adds more depth and connection to the series as this book expounds on the first.

In This Moment is my second Gabrielle Meyer book. Just wow. Waiting for book three is going to be painful.

This time, we see Libby’s daughter, Margaret, or Maggie, or Meg. Because she’s the daughter of two time crossers, Meg inherits an extra era from each of her parents. She lives in 1861, 1941 and 2001. In each time frame she has a suitor and each one teachers her a little more about who she really is, in any era.

As I expected having read When The Day Comes, the first in the series, the depth of historical details is impressive and when Meg is caught up in various events, I felt transported to the scene. My one tiny niggle is Meg’s remark that World War II would begin after Pearl Harbor. Given that Meg’s brother is a member of the British aristocracy, she knew of British involvement from 1939. But this is small and in no way spoiled my sheer enjoyment of this book.

Much like the first installment of the series, In This Moment is tightly written, attention grabbing and well thought out. If you enjoy historical romance, both books are highly recommended.

I received a copy from eh publisher via NetGalley. The opinion is entirely my own.

I always have high hopes for time travel stories, but I think they can be hard to do well. What a wonderful surprise it was to be drawn into In This Moment so fully and find it to be so compelling. I loved the questions that our protagonist wrestled with as she had to consider which time & life she would chose to commit to on her birthday, when her time-jumping ability came to an end. I don't want to say too much, because I loved discovering this one as it unfolded on the page. Not only was this one a joy to read, but I found myself thinking about it when I wasn't reading it, which is always the sign of a good book to me. Definitely recommend.

PS. This could be read as a stand-alone, but is connected to the first book in this series, When The Day Comes.

Y'all, I have to hand it to this author!
Wow! What an incredible job she has done in making this story real-life and with such amazing characters!
I thought Maggie was the luckiest person ever!
By lucky, I meant that she inherited an amazing gift!
How is it possible without aging or changing things while doing that and such a hard choice, too?
How hard that must've been! I know that if I was there it would absolutely break my heart and watch everything unfold, knowing that it wasn't meant to be changed!
This is why I love this author's imagination!
She's able to take us places that we only dream about!
There are a lot of surprises that will keep you glued to the book! I was spellbound!
I highly recommend this book!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I just completely love this series! The concept of time travel with a dual timeline historical novel is amazing and Gabrielle Meyer's writing is just superb!

The storylines, all three, were so interesting and engaging, the characters are incredible and the whole idea is just awesome. It's incredible how the author can come up with some imaginative storylines and yet tie them all together in a way that makes it easy to read and follow. I really think it's cool how the main character keeps the knowledge of the other two lives in her current life. I loved the first book in this series and didn't know how she could continue this series but it's fantastic and so enjoyable to read.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.
