I really enjoyed this book, the illustrations, and the stories of women working with wildlife. The back of the book also provides ideas for how to make a difference for young readers.

Wow! I went into this never reading a Rebel Girl book before and was completely blown away by how amazing it was. This one was on Animal Allies and talked about 25 woman who make a difference working with animals world wide. The book was easy to read with lots of amazing infortnauon. Also had scan codes if you wanted to learn more about one of the Allies. I definitely plan to purchase this book and other Rebel Girl books for my young daughter.

A perfect book to share with all ages. Two-page spreads of each activist (sometimes a duo of friends/collaborators) with text on the left and a colorful art portrait with related animals on the right-facing page make this, like the rest of the extensive series, a shareable book for classroom read aloud or bedtime stories. The multicultural women are from around the globe and many are young activists that readers have likely never heard of. Jane Goodall is included, but the rest of the women are less famous. Occasional Qr codes are included to extend the reading experience. Pages at the end include a spread to write your own activist story and portrait.

Another excellent installment of Rebel Girls! This one is full of various women who have played critical roles in conservation and our knowledge of the animal kingdom. My kindergartner loved these stories and has picked some people to follow up on to learn more about.

I'm a huge fan of the Rebel Girls series, and this is no exception to that rule. This one if particular is perfect for young readers who love animals and especially if they might be interested in a career helping animals, particularly wildlife.

The book has the standard Rebel Girls layout. Bright, colorful pages with illustrations by different artists, all of whom get credits on the photo and are listed with age and country in the back of the book. The stories of the women shared are relatively short and easy to read. They read like short stories to give They highlight birthdates and locations at the bottom of the bio page, and the illustrations include a quote from the profiled person.

The book highlights well-known individuals like Jane Goodall and Bindi Irwin as well as women that people may be less likely to know from Amanda Vincent and Heather Koldewey, marine biologists specializing in saving seahorses, to Christina Gorsuch, zoo curator who helped Fiona the preborn hippo survive.

The people highlighted also cover a range of ages, showing that people can find ways to help where they are passionate about no matter how old or young they are when they start. The book also has suggestions on how readers can become animal allies themselves.

This is another wonderful addition to the Rebel Girls series that animal lovers of all ages shouldn't miss.

Another great book from the Rebel Girls series, this time about women who work with and preserve animals of all kinds and all over the world. I liked that the women themselves came from several backgrounds, were famous or not so much, younger ones were also included, and that they had different jobs and techniques. The book also includes an attachment for children how to be an animal ally. I was so fascinated by the book, I thought I had missed something in life. I only wondered why some women, also young ones and from countries that have a register of births, had a line "birth date unknown". Otherwise another great one in the series.

Rebel Girls Animal Allies is a compilation of 25 stories of women working with wildlife. This is my absolute favorite type of story to read my children because it's enjoyable for all of us. I had heard of a few of the well-known women such as Bindi Irwin, Jane Goodall, Kristen Bell, etc but a lot of the women were unknown to me so I was so happy to learn about them.

Highly recommend for children (or adults) of any age. We loved learning about all the fascinating women and animals. As a bonus, there's a "be an animal ally" section in the back with a sketch activity.

This entry in the Rebel Girls Minis series introduces 26 diverse women from around the world who advocate for animals and the environment. One profile features two marine biologists, so there are 25 profiles. Each profile features an interesting one-page description of the woman’s work and an illustrated portrait. Each portrait was illustrated by a different female artist, so the styles varied, and I liked some of the images more than others.

This is an inspiring book for children. Even as an adult, I enjoyed reading about these women and am curious to learn more about some of their accomplishments.

You really know what you're getting with the Rebel Girls-books by now, and this one didn't disappoint. I would have loved reading this one when I was an animal-obsessed kid - just as I did now as an animal-obsessed adult, albeit the kind who has decided not to work with them. Maybe if I'd had this book as a kid and saw all the many different ways one can work with animals, I would've.

The biographies are, as usual, short, sweet and to the point, and the artworks accompanying each biography are all done by different artists! Loved it.

Little readers will learn about new professions in animal conservation, such as marine biologists, ichthyologists, primatologists, and zoo curators. The illustrations are varied and colorful. Most girls are from developed countries, and seeing some girls from developing nations is good.

It is time for young girls to choose off-beaten paths to save our planet, and Animal Allies is the perfect book for inspiration.

Fascinating group of women animal activists in some form or another. I hadn't heard of a lot of them!

We have many of the Rebel Girls series, but this was the first time we've seen this title. My 7 year old daughter is a vet / park ranger in training, so being able to show her these great examples of women following their dreams was wonderful! We read tons of books about different conservationists, zoologists, and biologists, so I was nicely surprised to see that most of the women highlighted in this book were new to us. (Don't get me wrong, Jane Goodall is the GOAT, but been there, done that.) Also, the variety of ages of the women makes a difference to learn about. Some have spent their whole life working for animals, but it's nice to see younger / more recent activists highlighted as well.
The writing level is in line with other Rebel Girls books, meaning a bit too high for my 1st grader to read on her own, but she likes looking at the beautiful illustrations while I read to her. The QR codes for more information was a nice add-on, too.
NetGalley provided the digital copy for review, but I'll ask my local library to purchase a copy of this book and probably buy my own copy for our home.

Rebel Girls books will always be my favorite and my children’s- yes even my son. Animal Allies was the perfect book to accompany our homeschool about zoology and geography this year. We learned about women we never heard of before and famous people we’ve heard of but were not aware they were animal Allies.

Following the same format of other Rebel Girl books, this is an fun and informative look at animal allies with a page of easy to read information and a colourful picture page.

The Rebel Girls series is very popular in our library's children's biography section. When I saw that they were publishing an Animal Allies edition, I couldn't wait to read it!

As usual, the biographies are digestible and comprehensive. The illustrations are lovely, especially because there are a variety of artists working on them, so there is a style there for everyone to enjoy. The women featured are amazing role models for children of all ages and genders.

For places where animals and the Rebel Girls series are popular, this is a must purchase.

Every girl has a unique talent she can use to act as an ally to animals. This colorful book shows how 25 women developed an interest in and love for something in the animal kingdom as a youngster. Each woman went on to champion animals using her unique talents, observational skills, insight, and determination.

The short, easy-to-read biographies draw readers in. Some of the stories include a scannable QR code which leads to in-depth audio stories. Rebel Girls consulted with conservationist Bindi Irwin (one of the 25 animal allies) to present activities at the end of the book.

It’s never too early or too late to take an interest in the wonderful world of nature, participate in citizen science projects, or get involved in research that helps animals.

What I Loved About This Book

The colorful illustrations grab the reader’s attention, and the interesting biographies arouse curiosity about the women and the animals they advocate for. Teachers, parents, and grandparents could read the stories out loud to younger children. Likewise, involved adults could adapt the activities at the end for either younger or older audiences.

The authors made sure to include women from multiple ethnicities and countries. There’s no need to exclude boys from the stories (I plan on buying a copy for my grandson)—anyone can become an animal ally!

This is a must-have for teachers, librarians, parents, and grandparents.

Rebel Girls, Animal Allies is exactly the sort of book I would have loved when I was growing up. I loved animals (still do) and was always ‘rescuing’ crabs with missing legs or baby birds that had fallen out of nests. In another life, I am one of the Rebel Girls of this title.

This inspiring book focuses on 25 inspirational women who have devoted their lives to caring for and understanding animals. There are more familiar names, such as Bindi Irwin, Jane Goodall and Kristen Bell (yes, Anna in Frozen) and less well known but equally important ones like Bella Lack, a school girl who campaigned (successfully) to change the law on animals performing in UK circuses.

Each woman is given a beautifully presented double page spread, with her story on one side and stunning illustrations with a pertinent quote on the other. I can imagine using this in the classroom, choosing a page each week and discussing the ‘Rebel Girl’ and perhaps researching further if the children are inspired by what they’ve heard. I can also see this book working well as part of a topic on animals or conservation. They would make excellent texts for guided reading.

Basically, I loved this book and think it would be an excellent addition to any bookshelf, whether at home or at school.
