The Rebel Girls series is one that consistently offers it readers inspiring short biographies along with lively graphics. This time the editors have turned their gaze on women who care about and work for the betterment of animals.

Some of those featured are well known, as for example, Bindi Irwin, Jane Goodall and Temple Grandin. There are many others to meet as well including activists, filmmakers, conservationists, architects, vets and more. Spending time with all of them is inspiring. At the end of the books, readers will find additional resources.

This title would make an excellent addition to both home and school libraries.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for this title. All opinions are my own.

Omg! I didn't know world animals are being taken care of and supervised in this pure way. How incredible such people are. I'm so glad that I got the opportunity to read such beautiful yet igniting stories.

Whenever I see animals around me, It reminds me of rebel girls.

I love everything about this book. Highly recommended to animal lovers or who are thinking to pursue the profession.

Thank you @neygalley @rebelgirls for providing the pre-approved arc

The Rebel Girls series just keeps getting better! It's always so fascinating to see what women have accomplished in the world and even better when it's all in one book! Another great addition to the series that I would highly recommend for both girls and boys.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you Netgalley for providing a copy of this wonderful book. I've been a long-time fan of the entire Rebel Girls series, and as an animal lover, this one was a treat. Every illustration is vivid and eye-catching, while the text captures women throughout history who have done so much with such little recognition. Rebel Girls Animal Allies highlights 24 compassionate female activists, veterinarians, scientists, and individuals who championed for animal rights and conservation. While highlighting these rebel girls, readers get the chance to travel the globe and meet animals from different continents and ecosystems. This book is perfect for any animal lover, feminist, or curious reader. These stories both entertain and inspire!

Thank you Netgalley for this wonderful book! I was already a big fan of the series and this one didn't disappoint. In fact, I loved it the most! The art is gorgeous and it features all my favorite women. I cannot wait for it to release just so I can hold the physical version in my hands. A MUST READ for animal lovers everywhere. I love it so much.

This is my favourite 25 Tales... from Rebel Girls to date. I feel like the artists have out done themselves in this one. The animals are sooo cute! I think I would have loved this one so much when I was a kid.

“Meet 25 brave, compassionate scientists, veterinarians, activists, and others who fight for animal rights and conservation. Animal Allies takes readers all around the world—to the tops of trees and the bottom of oceans, deep into the jungle and high into the mountains.”

This book, a collection of mini-bios of Animal Activists, is exactly what you’d expect from Rebel Girls.

Inspiring stories (mostly new), great artwork from female creatives, and skin-in-the-game activities to promote animal welfare and awareness.

I particularly the story of Leela Hazzah and the Make-A-Rescue-Kit project.

Really, the only way this could have been improved, was to include more stories. Twenty five makes for a fairly slim volume.

7.5/10

Thanks to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for this ARC.

I received an electronic ARC from Rebel Girls through NetGalley.
This volume introduces readers to women who work with animals in a variety of fields. Each of these women is an inspiration to others with their passion and commitment to their causes. I appreciate the consistent format across the books - one page spread per woman consisting of one page of information, a full page picture and a quote from the woman. When a reader sees a new volume, they know what they will find including the encouragement to create their own story at the end.

Yet again, Rebel Girls delivers a beautiful and highly engaging book celebrating women of all ages and this time, they share a common interest and passion; animals. As a little girl, I wanted to work with animals and only ever thought I'd be able to do so by being a vet. Now, as an adult, while my role as a marketer keeps me at my desk, I've been able to volunteer and help animals by providing my services free of charge to sanctuaries I'm passionate about. I liked that this book opened conversations in different ways we can help and work with animals. It's always great seeing books highlighting women and the role we play and this is no exception.

I liked this book much more than the Entrepreneurs one. I appreciated that women of all ages were chosen to be profiled, showing how important work can be accomplished all throughout one's life. I enjoyed that there were fun facts about relevant species included in almost every profile. It felt more focused on the target audience of girls. I look forward to reading other books in the Rebel Girls series.

They chose to feature such amazing people in a book about animal welfare and movements. To quote my own review again: I honestly believe Rebel Girls Book Series is going to change the world and the narrative that only men were in charge of our history and our world.

Thanks to Netgalley for this advanced reading copy.

This book is perfect for my animal-loving daughter! We both love the illustrations & way the info on each animal ally rebel girl is presented. The book is set up in a way that lets you easily read one or two profiles and set it down if you need to. Alternately, the content is interesting enough to suck you in and read a lot of the profiles at once if you’ve got the time! My daughter is a lover of all the Rebel Girl books, and this is another amazing title to add to her collection. Thank you for this amazing book! We can’t wait to add a hard copy to her collection!

It is always such a joy to receive these books and share them with my nibling. Each entry into the Rebel Girls library has sparked wonderful discussions and searches as we search out more information about these amazing women together.

Animal Allies shines a spotlight on 25 diverse and hardworking women around the world who have a deep passion and care for the animals that share our planet.

One of the things I loved the best is the sheer variety in the ways these women all care for animals. We have conservationists, educators, photographers, artists, and academics. The ways that these 25 women work are as diverse as their backgrounds. And the biographies make sure not to say that any one way for caring for the planet is better or worse than another.

The artistry behind the individual portraits continues to be my favorite part of these books. Something I would like to see in future installments is a list at the end of other places to find the works of the artists highlighted in the book. There is a list at the end of the artists and their countries, but I'd like to see links to their portfolios. This book in particular had some amazing artists and I would love an easy to reference list of their own websites to seek out more of their work.

The additional activities at the end were a delight to do with my nibling who really learns better with hands on activities. It was so fun to sit and draw our family animals together, and when it gets a little warmer in our area we've made some plans for a butterfly garden.

And I wish that there were another way provided for people to access the bonus content. Not every family has access to a smartphone for the QR codes, and it disappoints me to see that content made more difficult to get to.

Thank you again to Rebel Girls and to NetGalley for this opportunity to read this ARC!

Thank you to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for the e-ARC of this book to read and review. I'm a big fan of the Rebel Girls stories overall, but I love the 25-story editions even better than their longer bedtime story books, as there's a chance to dive deeper into specific niches and also cater towards kids who are showing an interest in a specific area/genre/field. I have to say that this compilation of Animal Allies stories is my favorite one of their themed collections yet! The variety of influential rebel girls featured is fantastic, and the anthology does a great job showcasing different ways you can work with animals, animal science, conservation, activism, etc. I think that readers interested in animals will not only be entertained and inspired by the stories included, but also it can start conversations about different future career fields and potential ways of getting involved with animal welfare efforts right now within their own communities.

I absolutely adore this book. I don’t normally read or review books for children, but the topic of this book made me pick it up. I was lucky enough to get my BS in biology and work as a zookeeper for a few years before I had to step away from that career path. this book highlights some of the stars of the animal world. these are women I looked up to and shaped my career goals as I was starting out. they deserve all the recognition they get from this book. I also believe this book is so important and every kid, but focused on girls because it shows them that you can turn that love of animals into a career and it isn’t just for the boys.

I also wanted to give a big shoutout to whomever chose the women. The story about the curator of the Cincinnati Zoo was especially special to me, as I was able to work with Fiona’s dad, Henry, before he moved and passed away!

thank you netgalley for the arc.
