Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me review this book. The illustrations by various female artists were great. I like that these women and girls let nothing stop them from pursuing their dreams.

Another success of a book from Rebel Girls! This dealt with all different kinds of women involved with animal rights, conservationists, filmmakers, vets, zoo curators, architects, and more. The artwork along with each entry was gorgeous, the information is just enough to get the girls (or boys!) interested and wanting to know more. I really liked how they included QR codes to be scanned to continue finding more information for each story. I also appreciated the ending pages that allow for the kids to create their own story. They can write their story and draw their picture to go along with it.

I will keep being a supporter of the Rebel Girls series!

We love the Rebel Girls book series. This one has now become our favorite. My daughter especially loves animals and art so we enjoyed reading about the Animal Allies in the book and the great illustrations. We ended up looking up several of the women online to see their photography, books, or more information about them. We are especially excited to check out Sami Bayly’s books. This is a great book to read with your kids at night or in the classroom each day.

Thank you NetGalley and Rebel Girls for the opportunity to read this book in advance of publication.

I love this book series and Rebel Girls Animal Allies did not disapoint.
Again, the artwork is stunning and I love that different styles are displayed. I did not know most of these women and am now interested in getting more information on some of them.

These books should be in every childs library (girl and boy!)

I first met the Rebel Girls when their first book was released. I purchased it for my niece on her 10th birthday. She loved it, and the best part is I did, too!

Rebel Girls Animal Allies is the latest series installment, containing stories and illustrations by Sami Bayly of women who have done extraordinary things for animals. I was only familiar with five women in the book, making this an excellent learning experience that reads less like a biography and more like a bedtime story. This collection features women of all ages, races, and professions from around the globe. If you think one person cannot make a difference, pick up Rebel Girls and learn limits do not exist.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!

I love this series!

We are transported through the stories of women scientists to different ecosystems and the animals living within them. We start with Amanda and Heather who are scubadiving studying seashorses that founded Project Seahorse with the aim to protect marine ecosystems. Then we follow Bella who managed to correspond with THE David Attenborough and ended up banning the use of animals in UK circuses. Next, we meet Bindi who was positively influenced by her nature loving parents and wants to pass that love on in a detached from nature society.

Biruté's love from urangutans started by reading Curious George to finding herself reintroducing over 500 individuals back to the wild. Christina became an expert on hippos and got known for her dedication to a little hippo named Fiona. Corina and her love for birds inspired the Black birders initiative! Christina and her enamoured passion for capturing the beauty of the ocean with her camera, The ocean but sharks specifically due to their bad reputation additionally, inspired Eugenie to become an icthyologist and break down some myths around the fear of sharks. Gillian with her view on nature being that there are so many stories to be told and narrated to the world. Then we have filmmaker Gunjan who would through high altitudes and jungles to capture the wildlife. We meet Hana who is determined to fight to preserve the nature of her country, Iraq despite all the difficulties she is facing. Of course, such a book could not exist without mentioning Jane and her work as a primatologist (working with apes and showing their connection to humans).

In the second half of the book, we meet Julie, a conservationist biologist and her love at first sight with a lemur when she was 13. You may now Kirsten Bell as a famous actress from Holywood but she also one of the proponents of the 'Adopt, Don't shop' mantra. She absolutely is a dog person! Then we have Kristen and her love for bats whilst we learn that everything that shaped her career started as a Girl Scout project. So inspiring! Reptiles are not as loved as other cuter and fluffier species but that did not stop Laura from becoming a herpetologist and see their beauty reflected in her eyes. We then meet Leela, an expert in lions who tries to reintroduce this species that has become extinct in parts of the world such as Egypt where she is from. Another conservationist called Maria has a love hard scaled pangolins and other endangered species and speak for them! We then continue with Olivia and her butterflies. She is a pollinator activist. How freaking cool is that of a job description???

In Nigeria, we meet Rachel, another conservationist, working mainly around the Niger Delta area. Saengduean is a person where basically animals go for retirement to live their last days on this Earth as well as animals that just need recovery from abuse, trauma and/or injury. Meet Sami a talented artist that brings the beauty of any peculiar animal you may think of. Exhibit designer, Sue, recreates habits in zoos inspired by their homelands for the animals to feel more like home. Temple, an autistic woman, decided to take action and educate people about her condition as well as talking about how important it is to adress farm animal welfare. Last but not least, we learn about Tolani a, veterinarian who has even founded an animal hospital to host both 2 and 4 legged creatures.

I cannot wait to teach my daughter about all these women through this books and inspire her to become one with nature. :) Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

I love this selection of books and the idea of “Rebel Girls” in particular. As a mum of two daughters and one son, as well as a KS2 teacher, I am always interested in positive promotion of women and girls in literature. I feel that this series has set such a good example to all readers, regardless of gender.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this title. I will be recommending.

I thought this was such a great Rebel Girls book about women and young girls who love animals and wildlife and make it their life to help save and protect it. I love how diverse Rebel Girls is and making sure to talk about women and young girls all over the world. Even talking about a few who have passed away, but their legacy still lives on.

Absolutely loved this one! With a little who aspires to work with animals, it was really fun to read with her! As per usual, the formatting was kid friendly, and the stories were detailed, but easy to follow and engaging.

This was a very sweet and accessible nonfiction. Highlighted some women that many people would not be familiar with and their accomplishments. Highly recommend for younger audiences.

“Rebel Girls Animal Allies” contains 25 tales of women working with wildlife. A tale of creative non-fiction, it is a stunning collection of heartwarming and thought-provoking stories inspired by the extremely adventurous lives of 25 astoundingly fearless Rebel women and girls. It inspires us to embrace our natural instincts to nurture, protect and defend animals that capture our hearts in such a warm way. Animals love selflessly. Rebel Girls Animal Allies is the latest installment in the Rebel Girls series. It has 25 amazing stories of women who have become conservation and rescue allies. From zoo exhibit designers and hometown heroes to activists and academics, this book highlights incredible women. As an animal lover with interest in conservation and nature, I found this book very interesting and I know I would've loved it as a little girl. I'm excited for the next generations of girls to have access to these stories and so many resources to learn more about the world they live in. Gorgeous illustrations, diverse ladies, and lots of strength and brainpower. This is a must-read.

I've read or flipped through almost all of the Rebel Girls books and given them out to countless kids at the library. Rebel Girls Animal Allies is by far my favorite! It's possible that I'm biased because I'm also a wildlife rehabber, but this book is so special. I've been an animal fan for as long as I can remember so when I went into this book, I assumed I would know most of the women in this book. I love that I was completely wrong! I learned so much! So many amazing women that I had never heard of and even a few that I knee of the famous animals they worked with but not the women themselves! This book was diverse in every way! I love the women were from all over the world, of all ages, races, and careers! Each spread is a small life story of an Animal Ally and a gorgeous portrait of them! I think it would be really fun to read about one woman a week and then spend the week learning about her work and the animals she's worked with! I hope this books opens many kiddos' eyes to how great animals are and how much good one person can do!

This is a really well done book. It’s full of new stories, I only recognized 5/25 women in the book. The illustrations are beautiful. Each story reads less like a biography and more like a bedtime story which I great for kids.

I received a copy of the book by NetGalley but the opinions in this review are my own.

In general, I am a fan of Rebel girls. I like the fact they shine light on brilliant women. However for Rebel Girls Animal Allies what I wasn't too keen on is that the women chosen are very American-centric and also very young. I think there are plenty of women in history that deserved to be highlighted rather than girls who barely reached their 20s by the time this book is published. With that said, the illustrations are very colorful as always, and the storytelling is nice.

As someone who has loved animals for their whole life, I was SO excited to see that Rebel Girls was writing a book specifically about animal advocates! This book is full of incredible stories about how girls and women all around the world used their passions to help animals thrive. There were stories about animal allies like Jane Goodall and Bindi Irwin with whom I was very familiar, but this also introduced me to women like ornithologist Corina Newsome, conservationist Maria Diekmann, and activist Saengduean "Lek" Chailert".

When thinking and talking about animal rights the first question is usually "I'm just one person, what can I do to help?" and all of these women showed that, as long as you're passionate and dedicated, one person can do SO much. I loved that this book also gave tips to the reader to start their journey to become an animal ally. I have been saying for a long time that someday I want to set up bat houses in my backyard and that I keep meaning to start volunteering at my local animal shelter, but this book finally made me realize that I don't have to wait until "someday". I can (and should) start now!

If you're a lover of animals (or raising one) this book is absolutely required reading. The stories are inspiring and the illustrations that accompany each story are beautiful.

Thanks to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for providing me with an early copy in exchange for an honest review.

I love the Rebel Girl series and I love nature so this is just the best of both worlds! Even as an adult I learned about so many women in the animal field that I had never heard of. I love how the end includes a place for the you to put your own story and ways you can get involved in animal conservation! I will definitely be buying this for my friends kids!

Rebel Girls hots it out of the park again with another amazing collection of women who have impacted the world. This edition includes women who have worked with animals and advocated for them. Some people are familiar names like Bindi Irwin and Temple Grandin, while many others are women who deserve more attention. The illustrations are done by different artists for every woman so you see a wide variety of styles as well as stories. The back includes information on how readers can become “animal allies” too!
