I'm relatively new to the Rebel Girls book world, but I've enjoyed all of the titles I've read so far. This is no exception. This time we are given a brief introduction to some wonderful women activists, conservationists, scientists, researchers, etc that are actively seeking to help animals. Once again, I loved the variety of artwork. I look forward to discovering more Rebel Girls books. These are great books for readers that enjoy nonfiction and biographies.

Is there NOTHING that the Rebel Girls can't do? I'm already obsessed with their series, and I'm thrilled to add this newest edition. The best part is that this book takes care of holiday gifts for many of the little girls (and boys!) on my list. I love the wonderful illustrations, and the writing is simple enough to be enjoyed by the younger set, while intelligently enough written that it will appeal to the teens.
This book truly is a tribute to 26 spectacular women - from professors to painters, and actors to vets - who have been champions for animals in a huge variety of ways. Not only does it educate and entertain, but also introduces so many potential careers and ways to be involved with the animal kingdom that it will open the imaginations for anyone who reads it.
Not only can it be "read," but it would be a great source for bedtime stories since each entry is short and sweet and could lead to some inspirational dreams - and future conversations.
I can't wait for the next surprise from Rebel Girls!
Thank you to Rebel Girls and Net Galley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinions.

Lovely new version of this format: it was great to learn about the stories of these women loving, protecting and studying animals. More than anything, I loved reading about "unconventional" love toward some kind of animals not everybody loves (as bats, my most loved creatures).

Am I the target age audience for this book? No. But I’m a female, aspiring conservationist and animal lover so I definitely meet the rest of the target audience groups!

I loved this book. The illustrations were beautiful, and it was so inspiring to see such a diverse group of women and the ways they’ve shaped and played a part in the conservation field.

The end of the book also has ways younger kids can start their own conservationist journey and I think that’s adorable. I would definitely recommend it for any young animal lover in your life!

I read an eARC of this book provided by NetGalley, but I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

Another great addition to the "Rebel Girls" series, this time highlighting women who work/support animals. My animal-loving 8-year old niece is going to LOVE this book. I can't wait to pre-order it for her!

Animal Allies is a welcome, informative addition to the Rebel Girls universe. As is typical with all of the books in the Rebel Girls series, Animal Allies is filled with beautiful illustrations and informative, accessible text.

I learned a lot and loved sharing this with my kids. Would highly recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book. Full disclosure: I was pre-approved by Rebel Girls.

I didn’t know who a lot of the women were in this book which seems to be a tradition at this point with Rebel Girls.

The job titles listed were amazing since there was a diverse group, such as birds and reptiles. There was even an exhibit designer/architect which was really cool.

After reading each mini-biography, there’s space to write your own story and even draw your portrait. Also, there are activities designed by Bindi Irwin (who also makes an appearance in the book).

Overall, Rebel Girls continues to produce great books and I’m loving the addition of the activities at the end.

this was a really cute book for girls, it gives a short description of these women. I think it's great to get younger children interesting in learning about anyone in these parts. It was written well and I was glad I got to read this, I learned a little about people that I hadn't heard of before.

I cannot wait to get the print version of this book for my daughter (and to have on hand with homeschooling).

This is another fun addition to the Rebel Girls line of amazing women literature. This entire book features women that have worked in some capacity with animals so it makes it exciting and relatable for most children. It even had a number of professions I wasn't familiar with (I love learning along with my kids!). Definitely a lot of fun career choices as well as memorable humans. Highly recommend!

I have read quite a lot of these books in the series and I really enjoy seeing books that hype up women and support women. I absolutely adore them. I would highly recommend reading them. It puts a lot of things in perspective and I will continue to read more of these books.

A great resource for school children to utilise. Full of facts and stories about some of the most interesting women who work with animals. It contains information on famous women as well as unknown women who are working for a better world for animals. Lovely illustrations throughout.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy. This short book tells about various girls and women who have worked in conservation and have advocated for endangered species. The illustrations were wonderful. I would have loved this book as a kid, and I still learned something reading this as an adult. There are options to scan to read more about the individual people described from Bindi Irwin to Jane Goodall. At the end, there are recommendations for kids to learn more and to do their part. Overall, this is a great educational read for kids and families!

**Thank you to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for the eARC in exchange for this review. This in no way changed my opinion**

In general, I am a fan of the Rebel Girls series and this did little to change that. While the artwork is new (and very cohesive in this particular edition. I didn't find any to feel out of place like I have in the past), a lot of the people highlighted were recycled (ex. Jane Goodall, Bindi Irwin, etc.). I think unless you're collecting these specific editions that are broken down into 25 women in a specific category, you probably have another Rebel Girls book that mentions most of these women. I did like how diverse the selection was and that they highlighted women making a difference globally instead of falling into a trap of just highlighting women in predominantly European countries or focusing mostly on the US and Europe. I downloaded the app so I could try out the QR codes and it mostly just read the stories from the aforementioned other editions of this series. I don't think the additional material is worth a $60 a year subscription unless you have a kiddo who is SUPER into this series. My last criticism is that, while I understand why she's important to animal care as a topic, I wish Temple Grandin hadn't been included as her community has long been calling out her problematic attitude and willingness to be a spokesperson for "overcoming" disability. She's also expressed some alarmingly eugenicist views in regards to this, so I wasn't super happy to see her being held up as an example for young kids. Overall, though, I think many of the choices will inspire readers of all ages to better take care of our planet.

3.5/5 stars

In my opinion there is no greater non-fiction series right now than Rebel Girls.

Each book is more amazing than the last. This one would be perfect for any child but especially animal lovers! It includes 25 tales of woman who are making a difference in the lives of animals. Embarrassingly I only knew two of them! I love the brevity of these stories. It’s not too overwhelming- one page of content and one beautiful illustration. A lot of the pages included a QR code for more- which is awesome. I’d love this book for my daughter, my Girl Scouts and any student I would teach.

Bravo, as always!

This Rebel Girls is specific to women helping to save wildlife around the world. It features women from various backgrounds, ages, cultures and occupations.

This is an interactive book through QR codes and allowing the reader to create their own story. The QR code is linked to the Real Girls app and allows readers to learn more about the featured woman. There are suggestions at the end of the book on how we can be an animal ally.

This will make a wonderful addition to the Real Girls collection and any animal lover in your life.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

It's books like this that make me wish I had a daughter or at least a close niece that loved reading that I could share these books. Sadly, the two that I have a close relationship with that are girls aged 6 and 8 are more into technology than reading which is a shame. Maybe they might turn to books when they are older. In this series Rebel Girls, I also wish it was around when I was growing up just imagine the careers I could have ended up with or the heroes I had as a female. I would have had some great strong female role models, but back then we didn't have this exposure. I recently went to a talk about the scientist Marie Curie and they talked about the oppression of women in careers despite there still being some struggles, even in the last 20 years we have come so far for females to be recognised as when I was growing up, we didn't have that recognition and I grew up in the 90s and the early to mid-2000s. This time Rebel Girls has decided to delve into the world of Wildlife heroes. Of course, on this list is Jane Goodall with her work with monkeys etc - she was the only one I knew in this book besides the young Bindi Irwin who took over some of her dad’s work. Like the previous other books, we are also exposed to famous wildlife explorers, we didn't know existed from Eugenie Clark and her work with sharks to Christina Goursch who works with Hippos, and Amanda Lear aka Batgirl as she works with Batman's fear - "Bats".
If you love animals and have ever thought about working with animals of any kind as a career, and are aged between 8-14 years then this edition of Rebel Girls - Animal Allies should be the book on your wishlist for 2023.

I just love this series, and this book doesn’t disappoint. The artistry is spot on and delights and the choice of women is diverse and wide ranging and really does draw you in and engage with you, I don’t know who wouldn’t want to learn about women biologists and conservationists and the amazing work that anyone can do. This book is empowering and will fuel dreams.
