Maggie and Len are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. But as Magies pops into the loft to grab a urprise for her husband, she discovers a woman's scarf. Initially she suspects he may have had an affair, but then she sees a photo of a murdered woman wearing the same scarf...
The Lie In Our Marriage is a murder mystery (the 6th book to feature DI Dan Riley), as well as a domestic drama and psychological thriller, set in the UK. I have previously reviewed The Night Of The Party from the series but each works as a standalone novel.
Maggie and Len's love has grown and strengthened over the last 25 years and now they are looking forward to becoming grandparents. I was surprised at how quickly Maggie jumped believing the worst about Len but her fears and doubts felt authentic. After so many years together, I thought she should have been braver about speaking to him although I feel that she was more afraid of the truth than of him harming her.
Meanwhile we see some chapters from Dan Riley's perspective as he attempts to solve the murder case. He has a good working relationship with his colleagues and in his home life is expecting his second child.
Dan's easy to like personality makes the reader want him to solve the crime. However, this contrasts with our sympathy for Maggie. She has frantic thoughts due to her mental trauma from her mother's suicide when she was a child, as well as her fears about her own and her son's mental health.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.

This was full of twists and turns and I stayed up all night just so I could finish it. With that being said though, it was hard for me to initially get into and I wasn't a big fan of the sex themes.

I think this book will show how hard it is to really know every little thing about a person and would recommend to mystery readers.

A good read, full of twists and turns. I was so gripped and couldn't put it down. Definitely looking forward to reading more from the author based on this.

I’m sad to say this book was not for me. I found it hard to get into and the sex themes were a bit much. The characters were unlikeable and the plot too predictable. Perhaps if I’d started the series from the beginning I might have been more interested in the plot and the characters but this book fell flat for me. I do appreciate my arc copy in exchange for my honest review.

How well can you truly know another person, even a member of your own family?

I think this book will show how hard it is to really know every little thing about a person, and there are shocks and twists galore in this book, as Maggie makes a shocking discovery.

It was great to catch up with Dan and his team and to see how they try to solve their latest murder, which has evidence but not necessarily anything overly concrete.

This kept me guessing throughout and is another excellent addition to this series.

Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I really enjoyed this book, the second one I read of the series. I did figure this one out before the ending but thoroughly enjoyed how the ending played out. The book is full of twists and the characters well developed. A page turner that will not disappoint. I particularly liked detective Dan, a man built full of character , kindness and also has a sense of humour. I will read the other books in the series

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

Maggie and Len are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary with their friends and neighbours.

When Maggie goes into the loft to retrieve a surprise for Len she discovers something hidden amongst their dusty boxes of memorabilia. A silky pink scarf, she recognises the sickly perfume, but why has the scarf got dried blood on it!!

This was a great twist filled read that kept me gripped throughout.

The 1st book I've read in this series, but I will definitely be reading the other books.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was full of twists. I thought I had it figured out, but was surprised at the end. I wasn’t a fan of the husband or his pet names. I haven’t read the other books in this series, though I may have to check them out. Interesting plot and well written.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the opportunity to read and review this arc honestly.

I believe this is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. The writing and story had a good flow. I figured out the twist fairly early on but I still enjoyed the story. I didn’t realize this was part of a series but I don’t think it took anything away from the story not having read the others. I’m interested in reading the others in the series now!

This was my second from Anna and my second in the Detective Dan series. I think I enjoyed The Night of the Party better, but this was still a solid read. I look forward to reading more from Anna!

First my apologies for just now getting to this book. But wow, what a read. Very twisty with plenty of secrets. I didn’t realize this is part of a series but will go back and read more now. But obviously this can be read as a stand-alone, Maybe a bit wordy and repetitive at times but loved it. Thank you netgalley and publisher for this arc in exchange of an honest review.

I haven’t read this series in order but I did read the last one and absolutely loved it! I just HAD to request this one. I was not disappointed. There are plenty of lies, secrets, and assumptions that lead to a thrilling ending.

Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via Netgalley. This is the 6th book in the Detective Dan series. If you have been following my blog for a while you will know I LOVE Detective Dan. Don't worry if you haven't read the rest of the series though you can read these books as standalones.

This book has a dual POV of both Dan and Maggie. I love seeing multiple POV, I feel it provides a deeper insight into the story. This is definitely the case in this book. Seeing both POV made the story more tense and kept me on the edge of my seat. As always Detective Dan works hard to unravel this case and balance his home life. Dan and his partner Lucy are excellent characters.

Anna-Lou really had me stumped on this one. I thought I had it all figured out but the more I discovered the more I thought I was wrong. This story turns out to be quite heart breaking in the end. Anna-Lou really got me in the core with this one. This twisty thriller is an excellent addition to the series and I really hope we see more.

I definately think you are better off going in blind for this one. Number 6 in the series and I didnt even realise this. so you can easily read it as a standalone. I cant wait to read the others if this is the standard .

I loved the previous books in this series, but for some reason, this one did not strike my fancy. The style of the mystery was so different from the first five in the series and the cadence of reveals was not enough to keep engagement.

I loved this book. Right fro the beginning and with so many twists to keep the reader engrossed. A twist at the end that although I had an inkling of it, it didn't spoil the thrill.
A new author for me so I will be looking out for more from her especially if they involve DI Riley. A great character.
This is a book I would highly recommend and many thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read the ARC
