I was definitely on the hunt for another story that features a witch after enjoying so many recently, and was happy to discover THE LOST WITCH, which centers around the story of Brigid Heron, a powerful witch and healer during 1920s, in the charming town of Evermore.

I listened to the audiobook and loved listening to the enchanting story as it came to life!

It was fun to be swept away to Evermore, and I really enjoyed the world building and fantasy elements full of monsters, witches, and magic.

I think this had great potential. The premise was interesting, and I enjoyed the worldbuilding and the main characters. However, there was so much going on that it was hard to keep up. I also think the story would have worked better without a modern timeline. The pacing was also off, I struggled through the middle section.ย

I listened to the audio, and once I got used to the narrator, I found she did a great job.ย

Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and St. Martinโ€™s Press for an advanced copy of the ebook and audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I thought this was going to be more of a fantasy romance, but it ended up being just a light fantasy. I was excited to read this and the prologue hooked me immediately....then chapter one lost me. It was slow and I never really got back into it. It definitely could've benefited from a more refined and stronger plot as well as being a little shorter. There were some small subplots that felt like they were added only to add pages to the book.

I enjoyed listening to The Lost Witch. I liked the magic, witches, monsters and characters. The town of Evermore sounded quaint except for of course the damned. If you enjoy witchy books check this one out.

I wanted to love this so much but I just couldn't seem to get into it. It definitely gave me Outlander vibes which hello what is not to like about that? A witch travels forward in time to her new 'coven' who has never been more excited to see her. Sadly they are lacking in the magical skill department and seem to be outcasts in a town getting overrun by monsters.

Great premise but it felt a little long to me, but maybe that's because it wasn't the book for me. It has intrigue, a hint of romance, and a fun sisterhood of characters. I would recommend this book to someone looking for a lower stakes fantasy who is a fan of Outlander. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book

The Lost Witch by Paige Crutcher ๐ŸŽง

Brigid is a witch in 1922 in the town of Evermore in Ireland, but to try and protect her child she gets caught up in wild magic that throws her into 2022. In this year her great nieces are trying to protect the town from beasts and evil magic that have been battling for the last 100 years.

There was a lot of wise words and quotable passages in this one. I adored the writing style that seemed to wrap love, humour and memories together seamlessly.

I think the book may be better than the audio, or at least make sure you listen to the audio when not distracted as I found it a bit hard to follow. The narrator was fantastic, it was just the complicated fantasy elements that had me a bit confused on occasion.

Overall this story was a delight, I loved the characters and would love to see a sequel. I loved the sisterly banter and the forbidden love story.

Thank you to @macmillan.audio and @netgalley for the audiobook!

"A town damned and the healer who damned them. A sister who sacrificed everything and a daughter lost in time. That was her story."

A beautiful story I enjoyed listening to though there were times I couldn't get into that world & didn't understand what was happening.

I really liked it's message about coming to terms with the past and who you really are in order to embrace your power in the present.

"You might also decide who you want to be this time, If who you were no longer suits you. It's never too late to become the person you would like to be."

Thank you Macmillan Audio, St. Martin's Griffin & Netgalley for the advanced copy.

I highly recommend listening to this one on Audio, the narrator is amazing! As for the story itself, it was great, the characters are wonderful, fun, loving, and witty. The witches have quite a fight on their hands, from a 100-year-old curse, monsters, realms, quite the imagination. With one witch who only wants one thing she can't have sets off a course of fate that soon she will have to right .. I really enjoyed this author's writing.

When I started this book, I thought it would be a romance, but it is not. It is a light fantasy book with some great relationships but it does not center around a main romantic pair in a traditional way.

Brigid finds herself in the future with distant relatives, Finola and Ophelia. Brigid is a bland character but her relationships with these two as the best part. Both are so spunky and highlight the different between a women of the 1900s and those of today.

The โ€œromanceโ€ in this book seemed a little forced in the beginning. As the book went on, there were romantic elements but it did not center around a couple dating or being together. It was more about the situations around the two people.

This book was unique, albeit a little boring. It started off slow and did not really pick up. The stakes did not connect with me. However, I am giving it 3 stars because I could see it being someone elseโ€™s perfect book. It was just not mine.

This is one of those odd books that didnโ€™t quite do it for me, but if someone told me they adored this book Iโ€™d 100% understand why. The concept is unique, the characters are fun, and the earthy, witchy magic is A Vibe. Thereโ€™s a mother-daughter relationship at the center and a trickster god for a love interest. In short, all things that should have made this the perfect book for me.

I think what held me back from adoring The Lost Witch is that I just didnโ€™t connect much with the characters, particularly with our protagonist Brigid. I liked her a lot, but I never felt as attached to her as I wanted to be. The narration felt a bit distant from her for much of the book, and because her whole goal was trying to find her daughter but we didnโ€™t get to spend any time getting invested in that relationship, I didnโ€™t feel hugely invested in the stakes.

That said, I had a good time and Iโ€™m glad I read it. I really enjoyed the podcast thread of the story; it was unique and helped build the world and the community we were following.

Aoife McMahon did a wonderful job with the narration, but thatโ€™s no surprise. Sheโ€™s a delight to listen to and seems to embody each character as she speaks their lines.

๐“๐ก๐ž ๐‹๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐–๐ข๐ญ๐œ๐ก is a witchy read steeped in Irish myth, including a goddess and god with no short supply of magic and power. Set in the quaint village of Evermore, off the coast of Ireland, the timeline dances between 1922 and 2022.

1922 - Brigid is a healer-witch, given her powers by the goddess who protects Evermore from a dark coven of witches.

When Brigid asks the goddess to help her have a baby, the goddess refuses. Enter Luc Knightly who controls the loch, but heโ€™s not just a man. Possessing dark powers and shrouded in mystery, Luc promises he can provide Brigid with a child. Betraying her goddess, Brigid asks Luc for the spell to have the child she desires.

2022 - Evermore is under attack from the coven of witches. Brigid awakens with no memory of how she arrived in the future, but she soon realizes that she had a part in the chaos enveloping this town. Two very modern witches, Ophelia and Finola, are now her housemates and become her magical helpers. The person Brigid must find now is Luc; he holds all the answers and may be the only way to save everything.

โœจAs I mentioned, this has a lot of magic and mysticism going on in it. But I love that she added humor with Ophelia and Finola and a touch of romance. I highly recommend the audiobook, as the production is well done.

I like that Brigid eventually remembers what happened to her and is able to solve the mystery and help the town. I was confused at times about the timeline and where we were in the story but by the end of the book I had it all figured out. I look forward to reading more books from Paige Crutcher in the future.

Aoife McMahon did a great job of narrating this audiobook. This is the second audiobook I have listened to with Aofie as the narrator. I loved listening to her accent for 10 hours and I will continue to look for more books narrated by Aofie in the future.

This is a magical read from third person, def gives fairytale vibes.

Audiobook is my preferred way to consume this type of story, and this one was well done. The voice acting was wonderful and gave these cheeky characters life. Lots of whimsy in the writing style.

A little predictable takes a minute to grab you but extremely enjoyable read. Love the world and magic system.

1922. The town of Evermore off the coast of Ireland is under the protection of a Goddess. She has bestowed power upon village healer Brigid Heron to ensure the heart of magic within the Lough of Brionglรณidโ€”the lake of dreamsโ€”remains untouched. For the witches of Knight want to absorb its powerful energies and release the Damned from the Otherworld. Brigid has devoted her whole life to being Evermoreโ€™s guardian, immersing herself in witchcraft, and sacrificing her own dreams. Until Luc Knightly, a trickster god with his own claim on the lough, offers Brigid her heartโ€™s desire in exchange for betraying her Goddessโ€™s trust. 2022. A century later, Evermore is under siege. The witches of Knight wield chaos magic, opening the rift between the island and the Otherworld wider every day. Beings born from folklore nightmares prey on the villagers, consuming their very humanity. Ophelia Gallagher, Brigidโ€™s descendent, and her fellow witch Finola McEntire do their best to keep the monsters and mayhem at bay. Brigid awakens in this world with no memory of how she traveled into the future, and why Evermore has been cursed. To seal the lough and stop the witches of Knight, she must work with Ophelia and Finola to help her remember the events of a hundred years ago. But the knowledge she seeks lies with Luc Knightly himself--mysterious, handsome, and powerful--and the one who once upon a time granted Brigid her dearest wishโ€”a daughter. To save Evermore, Brigid may have to lose her daughterโ€”againโ€ฆ

I don't know what happened, but I just couldn't get into this one. I don't think it is the stories fault, I just could not concentrate. IDK if I missed something in the beginning or what, but I just couldn't catch up and get into it. I am definitely going to have to give this another try.

Not gonna lie, I was pretty bored. I wasn't into the writing or the characters. And from the symopsis, I wasn't expecting the time travel element; I was expecting more of a multi-timelime- multi-generational type of story.

I feel really iffy about this book. There were parts I thoroughly enjoyed and scenes that definitely tugged on my emotions, but I did have several issues too. I'm going to start with the positives.
The prologue was very interesting and it drew me in immediately. The prose was whimsical and lyrical which suited the narrator very well. I loved Brigid's reaction to her first time riding in a car. It seemed very realistic. Brigid was a really interesting character and I respect the hard choices she had to make throughout the story.
Despite some of the things I enjoyed I was disappointed with the plot. I had trouble staying interested after the prologue. I had trouble connecting with all of the characters aside from Brigid. They felt very one dimensional and all seemed to have the same goals and motivations. I like supporting characters to still feel like real people. The romance just wasn't there for me. I would have preferred to see two people fall in love instead of just having their attraction mentioned a few times. Overall, this book just had a few too many negatives for me to thoroughly enjoy it.

But Brigid longs for something her Goddess does not approve of. Betraying her Goddess will take Brigid on a journey of a lifetime. Will Brigid ever get what she wanted? Was going against her Goddess worth it in the end.

While I love witchy book The Lost Witch was more epic adventure than the usual witch vibes. I did want more magic and felt this one read more as a fantasy which is my least favorite genre.

3.5 stars upped to 4 because of the narrator but I can see other people loving the story more than I did because of the adventure and fantasy aspects.

Aoife McMahon does a fantastic job narrating The Lost Witch which helped me get through this one more than if I only had the ebook.

In 1922, on a small island off the coast of Ireland, Brigid Heron is happier than sheโ€™s ever been. She finally has a daughter, Dove, given to her by a Demi god, Luc Knightly, in exchange for a glance into her witch brain. Suddenly, Brigid awakens 100 years later without her memories. With the assistance of her future descendants, witches, Finola and Ophelia, she must help seal the lock that is wreaking havoc on the town of Evermore in 2022.

Fantasy, mystery, suspense and romance, The Lost Witch has a bit of everything to keep your interest in the rich, beautifully descriptive writing and enchanting story. As I listened to the audiobook, the narratorโ€™s accent is terrific and adds enjoyment to the novel.

This book had a little bit of everything. It was a paranormal story with witches, gods and monsters. It involved different worlds and time periods. And blended in with it all was a fair dose of romance.

Brigid Heron is the main character in this story. She is a talented witch but even with her abilities, she can't manage to have a child. Desperate for a baby of her own, she makes a deal with a demigod, Luc Knightly. Everything progresses as it should it life until their daughter becomes ill. Brigid is willing to do anything to save her daughter. This leads to a breach in the world she knows. Then the story jumps one hundred years into the future and Brigid has no memory of those missing years. But the world she has re-entered is nothing like the one she left. Not only has it moved along and become more modern, it is full of monsters that are entering through the Lough. Brigid knows she's missing important clues to her life before but she isn't sure how to recover those memories. She connects with two of her descendants and together they fight the monsters and try to put things right. She's also reunited with Luc who she apparently fell in love with before and appears to still have feelings for. I really enjoyed the way this story blended everything together. It all felt as if it worked. In addition, Brigid and Luc's romance was touching. It was evident that he would do almost anything for her but wanted to let her remember in the most gentle way possible.

AUDIOBOOK: I also listened to the audio version of this book and the narration was quite enjoyable. It really lent itself to this story and fit the characters voices, in my opinion. Sometimes the audio version isn't as enjoyable for me, but in this situation I think it was moreso. This was a book where it made the story more fun. 4 stars.
