This book was a pleasant surprise. It was not what I thought it would be. I was thinking it was going to be a sci-fi type book but instead I found it a book that had a feel good element to it. Ms. V is a student councillor and she loves her students. As she’s helping them work through their problems she’s putting a smile on my face.

I was provided an audiobook copy by NetGalley for a honest review. Listening to this audiobook was easy listening. The narrator was clear and interesting. A feel good book that touches all the feelings.

I started listening to this audio, but the story was different than I expected. I struggled to listen to it so did not finish it, however, I can see that many will love it.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial Audio for accepting my request to audibly read and review The Prayer Warrior, narrated by Anita Faye Thomas.

The story built around a high school guidance counselor and her consistent Christian belief system. She treated every person the same paying attention to their needs. She listened. Throughout the story bible verses are given referencing the advice.

In addition, there is a shady, metaphoric side to the story. Bits and pieces are dropped until the end when the book goes full circle.

This would make a nice car audiobook,a nursing home activity listen, as well as an anytime gift for young or older.

Anita Faye Thomas did a fantastic job as narrator.

This book, The Prayer Warrior by by Traci Wooden-Carlisle and D. Tina Batten, is my 26th book of the year (2023).

Let me begin by saying that the Bible verses fit well with the content of this novel. However, I thought a lot of this book was “cheesy” and predictable. I have only read a few Christian novels, but I was not really shocked by any of the events and what happened.

It was a sweet story about a woman who helps counsel teenagers. As nice as she is, I did not find myself loving her character. I felt like her character could have been developed a bit more.

This book was so-so for me. I am giving it 3 out of 5 stars.

I am so grateful to NetGalley, Traci Wooden-Carlisle & D. Tina Batten (the authors) and BooksGoSocial Audio (the publisher) for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Just an Amazing Book! I plan to buy this book for family and friends. I plan to start a study of this book.

The Prayer Warrior is about a Christian counselor, Ms V, that works at a Christian school. She prays for her students and friends.. She prays with students during their sessions. She prays silently during the sessions, so that God can lead her. This book really encourages Christians to "walk the talk". This book could help students, parents and anyone that wanted to lead their life directed by God..

Ms V deals with many difficult topics with her high school seniors like - God, sex, attire, parents, promises, academics, and their future. Ms. V helped her students think Biblically about their future decisions. She truly listens and does not judge others.. I can understand why the students brought their concerns to her, she really cared about them in a very special way. Some of the students sought her out; others were scheduled because she felt called to intervene in their circumstances. It would have been so easy to just tell the student what she thought was right for them. but she let them make their own decisions.

Ms V also helps faculty members and people that work at the school with their struggles. There is also spiritual warfare described in the book for the souls of people and students. The work that Ms V does for everyone is taxing and she goes home every day tired and worn out. But she also goes home knowing that she has done the work of her Heavenly Father all day long.

"Blessings be upon you!"

This book was a delight that I can’t wait to purchase and share with the youth at my church. Finally a fantasy novel I can pass on to kids and feel okay about it.

As a counselor at a Christian high school, Ms. V is in a unique position to know of personal struggles that students may not have shared with anyone else. Seeing her job as a ministry, she faithfully prays for young people. I have to admit that at first, Ms. V seemed a little "too much" with her verbal blessings spoken over everyone she met. The audience for this book is definitely Christian and I think readers who are not believers will struggle to connect with the story.

As the book went on, however, I have to say that I was impressed with the range of topics that were introduced: sexual pressure in dating, abusive grooming, communicating with parents, academic struggles, and choosing what to do after high school. Ms. V helped students think critically (and Biblically) about each of the struggles they faced. She was a compassionate listener who genuinely cared about what the students were going through. I think it could be a good book for teens to read just to have an opportunity to see how God factors into their struggles.

I loved the representation of the spiritual battle that goes on behind the veil of what our eyes can see. Ms. V was wrestling with the principalities of darkness in prayer and the enemy was putting up a fight. Sprinkled throughout the book are little clues that Ms. V's health may be in danger and readers will be wondering whether she will make it through her own struggles as she so valiantly fights and prays for others. My teen daughters listened to some of the audiobook and they too, got caught up in the story. Reading or listening to it as a family would offer a segue into discussing some important issues teens or their friends may be struggling with.

I didn't get far in this book before I realized it was not for me. A shame, really. I love a nice clean Christian read but this was quoting scriptures at ever turn. I had a hard time finding the plot because I was constantly stumbling on the bible quotes at every turn.

This review is thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the audiobook version of this book.

I rate this book 3 1/2 stars.

I was left conflicted as I finished The Prayer Warrior, having appreciated many themes but not entirely satisfied by the text as a whole. Ms. V is a woman of God and a powerful prayer warrior, and is a person I would love to have in my life, if only to keep hearing her wisdom. This book is at its strongest in the counselling sessions in which Ms. V loves her students and colleagues through some of the hardest things people can go through. Christians who long to help those around them through tough times would do well to learn from Ms. V's method of asking questions to help individuals realize what is really important to them.

As a minor note, the text deals with some hard things, and I would warn people who are dealing with grief, pregnancy loss, and sexual assault that they may struggle through parts of the book. Still, the healing that characters experience in the book may be an encouragement to those who are in pain.

While I enjoyed getting to know Ms. V and seeing her faith in God, I have to admit she came across a bit "holier-than-thou" at the beginning of the book. Additionally, I struggled with the twist that is hinted only very subtly at the beginning of the book and reveals itself at the very end. I still am not sure I understand how the entire book works with the twist. Also, though this book is listed as fantasy, the description is tenuous at best. The dream battle sequences are light on description of battle and are infrequent.

Still, I would be happy to present this to a Christian friend as a non-fantasy work of Christian Fiction that they might receive encouragement from.

Thank you, Netgalley and the publisher, for an advanced copy of the audiobook version of this book, in exchange for my honest opinion! I'm leaving this review voluntarily!

Unfortunately, my opinion is one of the unpopular ones. I really wanted to love this book. The writing was great and the concept of the book was great as well. However, I went into this book expecting fantasy like actual fights in the spiritual realm and all. Why did I expect that? Because of the synopsis and the fact that Goodreads lists "fantasy" as the main page genre. Putting this book into the fantasy category is a biiiiig stretch! This is more of a contemporary novel with a few fantasy elements. With that being said, this book was only OK for me. I didn't hate it but I also didn't like it enough to reread it.

Ms. V is a counselor at the Center of Hope Christian Academy. She is also a devout Christian. She has a true heart for the teens she councils as she listens to their problems, observes behaviors in their classes and on campus, provides sound Christian guidance, and bathes all their situations in prayer.

When she goes home, at night, Ms. V steps into the spiritual realm with a warrior’s sword and the word of God to battle the enemy that wants to steal the hearts of her students. These spiritual battles are taxing on Ms. V, but she is willing to stand firm as long as God calls her to the task.

As we glimpse into Ms. V!s life, we meet young people struggling with teenage issues; including sexual pressures, predatory situations (even in the church), and bullying. There is also a co-worker who is dealing with bitterness and jealousy whose attitude is eventually changed. Her counseling is consistent and she displays genuine snd unconditional love to everyone. Her character is beautiful and her legacy is perpetual all because she is willing to humbly serve her faithful God.

V’s story is very upbeat and endearing. The writing is direct and an easy listening audio. I feel this is s story for both for adults and teens. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an inspirational story whether they are a believer or a nonbeliever.

Narrator, Anita Faye Thomas does a superb job with her reading. She brings Ms. V alive and draws the listener into the spiritual and physical lives of the characters.

Even though the fantasy part of Ms. V ‘s life was awkward for me, I am glad I had the opportunity to listen to The Prayer Warrior: A Spiritual Christian Fantasy.

I received this audio book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Traci Wooden-Carlisle and D. Tina Batten are the authors of The Prayer Warrior. It is narrated by Anita Faye Thomas, whose warm voice perfectly portrays the female characters. Her attempts to speak in a lower register for the men are occasionally raspy, but always legible.

Ms. V is a counselor in a Christian high school. She provides academic, as well as personal counseling to the students and some of the staff. At night, she enters spiritual warfare on behalf of the students. Her weapon is God's word, and she wields it effectively. However, the constant struggle begins to cause physical problems for her.

She uses prayer as a foundation for counseling sessions, and her interventions are thoughtful and skilled. She models gentle, loving attitudes and behavior toward her coworkers and students.

The authors and narrator depict a spirit filled and led life, and how much positive impact Ms. V has in her environment. The ending was unexpected, but fitting.

The strong spiritual focus could be off-putting to non-Christian readers. However, the plot and characters are interesting and provide insight into what a prayer warrior can accomplish by interceding for others.

Absolutely fantastic.

Christian fiction books are usually difficult for me to rate because faith and fiction don't go hand in hand to me. However, this book is a must-read.

This book follows the daily routine of a Christian high school guidance counselor. She's firm in her beliefs, fierce in faith, and constantly trying to improve the lives of not only the students but the teachers around her.

"Blessings are upon you."

(Please note there are chapters with mild sensitive matter of abuse/harassment and childloss.)

I enjoyed the audio version through NetGalley. This is an engaging, positive Christian novel. My rating 4.5.

Ms. V is a devout Christian who serves as a counselor at the Center of Hope Christian Academy. She clearly cares about the teens she works with, listening to their problems, observing behaviors in classes and on campus, providing sound guidance, and covering all the situations with prayer.

At night, Ms. V steps into the spiritual realm with a warrior’s sword and the word of God to battle the enemy that wants to steal the hearts of her students. The spiritual battles are taxing on Ms. V, but she is willing to stand firm as long as God calls her to save souls.

The story opens with the images of the spiritual battles which caught my attention. Then the story moves into Ms. V’s interaction with the students and her co-workers. We meet a good handful of young people struggling with teenage issues including sexual pressures, predatory situations (even in the church), and bullying. There is also a co-worker who is dealing with bitterness and jealousy whose attitude is eventually changed. Ms. V shows consistent and unconditional love to everyone she is in touch with. Her behavior reveals a beautiful character and wonderful legacy all because she is willing to humbly serve her faithful God.

The story is very upbeat and endearing. The writing is direct and an easy read (and listen) for adults and teens. I am sort of curious about the alternate endings in the digital and print versions. I recommend this to any Christian who is looking for an inspirational story. I also recommend it to non-believers who are open minded to such inspiration.

Audio Notes: Anita Faye Thomas does a lovely job with the narration. She brings Ms. V alive and helps draw the listener into the spiritual and physical lives of the characters. I am glad I had the opportunity to listen to this.

I did not enjoy. Could not get passed the first chapter. The voices are terrible. I'm sorry I wanted to like this because of the title and picture but I just couldn't get into it.

I was very surprised by the book. Thinking it was a self help way to pray. The story following Mrs. V was inspiring to pray by using the scripture. Simple and true and could hear the heart of her wanting to help the ones around her. Very good story.

This was a good book. I like how the relationship between the characters was so special. The author did a great job with this book.

This faith centred story is very well written. It contains many important bible verses. I enjoyed the verse selection and the fact that each chapter begins with a new verse. Also the authors touch on various real world situations that believers face. It also deals with facing grief and struggle with faith.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The narration is pleasant and easily understood. This story is meaningful and has value. It is however, a very slow paced book. Readers should be aware that this is a book to read for meaning and learning in my opinion. It offers a positive perspective and brings verses to modern application.

It has a similar vibe to the movie “War Room”. If you enjoyed that movie I would recommend this book.

Thank you to the authors and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review! #netgalley #faithbooks

This audiobook was really surprising. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started it but thought it might be like a Frank Peretti book. It is like that a tiny bit in the beginning and end, but it is about a Christian school counselor who is an everyday prayer warrior in the real world. It addresses issues both young people and adults face every day. It was well narrated and entertaining. The main character is likable and endearing.

I received a free copy of this audiobook via Netgalley. My review is voluntary and the opinions are my own.
