The Vanishing of Class 3B is a fast paced, tense read full of surprises. As a Teaching Assistant in a primary school it’s also a little to close to home for comfort!
I enjoyed the build up as we got to know more about the parents as the horror of the disappearance unfolded. Each character with seemingly something to hide.

The Vanishing Of Class 3B was a great read, I raced through this just to find out where these children were.
Ten children and their school teachers are setting off for a day out t their new minibus has a fault, the children aren’t happy but one of the teachers manages to get a replacement from the taxi firm in the village. Off they all go for a glorious day out until home time comes and there’s no sign of them, the teachers mobiles are all turned off and no one knows where they are. All the parents have a secret of some kind, some worse than others and it is this the kidnapper wants to pick up on. Money to be paid or the secrets out. Which parent and how can they raise the money?
This was a very twisty read with lots of misdirection, as I am a parent it seemed very believable as I think we’ve all been there when children have been a few minutes late and you have that doubt creep up so this book played well on these emotions.
I would like to thank Netgalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

Suspense until the very end!

Thanks NetGalley, HarperCollins UK and One More Chapter for the ARC!

I read #TheMurderList by Kabler last year and enjoyed it so much! Glad that her latest delivered on my expectations too.

How does an entire class of 3rd grade kids and a few teachers simply vanish on a day trip? Read to find out!

#TheVanishingClassof3B is juicy and entertaining thriller that will keep you speculating and pointing fingers all the way! A small town mystery that is set in a pretty quaint village in the Cotswolds involving its esteemed primary school and some of their very wealthy, famous parents.

Kabler is a police procedural specialist and her skills are their best here. Once the detectives are involved and the parents are questioned – we start getting an insight into each of the couples.

Although there are a lot of characters, I never had difficulty keeping track and pretty soon I had a grip on the parent-children pairs and their backgrounds. Several dropped hints about some of their dubious on goings and pasts, made them all potential suspects.

As the time ticks by, the tension and suspense build at a steady tempo. The blame games commence and the plot gains momentum - rife with gossip, drama, lies, betrayals and hidden secrets of the past.

The multiple POV works wonders, making us choke with curiosity, anxiety and serious concern for the safety of these little ones. Soon a web from the past unfurls and everything starts making sense.

The twisty and dramatic ending delivered on all the thrill and entertainment one can hope for!

Highly recommend if you love a great small town mystery!

There is much excitement as the Class 3B gather to go on a school trip. The Cotswold Primary school is well organised & usually they use the luxurious minibus bought with generous contributions from the parents however when it doesn't start they have to use a somewhat well used hire bus. Nevertheless the ten children & four staff set off. When they are late returning at first no-one is too worried but as the hours pass the parents & head become seriously worried Then the bus is found with the badly beaten body of one of the staff on board. The police have no clues. How can they just disappear?

The story is told through the eyes of various characters, the parents, the Head, the police & from inside the hiding place. This kept me glued to the page & totally engaged. I really enjoyed this one. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

I really tried to like this book because the premise itself seemed so interesting. While the plot was great, the characters felt flat to me, and I just didn't connect with them at all.

So many secrets!

This was a good easy read which I really appreciated as i just wanted one more page! Then it's midnight and I'd finished.

The Vanishing of Class 3B is a fantastic read. It is full of secrets and lies and just how far some will go for revenge. There are plenty of twists and turns which I did not see coming and I just could not put it down.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC.

Waving your young children off on a school trip is meant to be a momentous occasion: seeing them go off, all happy and excited without you is a sign they’re growing up and exploring the world. It’s time to embrace their absolute joy and not feel as though they don’t need you anymore. It’s tough, but it’s a rite of passage… until they don’t return home. Then, your worst fears are realised and you need them back, safe under your protection. But you’re powerless, this is beyond your control and you have to trust others – namely, the police – to find them… alive and well.
As a premise, this is such a compelling story, and seeing how the parents react is fascinating, especially when the twist comes and their own behaviour comes under scrutiny from those in this small circle of friends and neighbours, courtesy of very cryptic demands from the kidnappers.
Tension increases, friction drives a wedge between the parents and the police, and then amongst the parents themselves.
When the perspective shifts to the children, the reader gets an insight into how they’re being treated, who is coping and isn’t, and this lays the path towards a resolution. An intriguing style that really pays off in balancing the parents’ concerns with the kidnappers approach to keeping the children calm.
Engrossing and engaging, well-paced and with an ending that might raise an eyebrow or two as to its credibility.
Miscategorised as new adult and college fiction though as the children are much, much younger

I had a lot of fun in reading this novel: it's like watching a tv series about the life of rich and famous people and their secrets.
There's an original idea, the disappeareance of an entire class, and the author delivers an entertaining story that kept surprising me.
I would have preferred a more structure closing chapter but it's a very entertaining and gripping story.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

Ten children and several teachers/helpers go on a school trip to a wildlife park and then vanish. As they were about to leave the school, their very new minibus had a fault which meant a replacement had to be quickly found. A message was sent from one of the staff to say they would be later back than anticipated due to the initial delay. None are answering their phones and there are no reports of heavy traffic or accidents on the route. Some of the children are from famous parents and most are wealthy. Could this be a kidnapping? What on earth could have happened? Several of the parents have secrets or something they wish to hide either from the world or just their partner. When a message comes through from the kidnappers, who has the real secret and just who is going to have to pay?
This is a very cleverly thought out concept- a whole bus load of people missing rather than just one or two and hence the logistics of how this could be done. At the beginning I found myself thinking “ how on earth is this going to pan out?”. I quickly found myself invested in the story and the snippets of information along the way to try and find out the who’s and why’s. A read that very much kept me engrossed the whole way through and one where I kept turning and turning. A brilliant premise and one very skilfully written. Loved it.

When a bus of primary school children fails to come home from a day trip to a wildlife park, the well heeled, wealthy and a few famous parents soon come under the spotlight. What has happened to the children and who has them.

The book centres around the secrets we all keep and how far someone will go to get their revenge. An easy beach read of a thriller with a twist at the end I didn’t see coming.

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the advanced copy.

R E V I E W:

Things I loved about this one:

✅ small countryside village vibes
✅ lots of characters who are intertwined with secrets galore
✅ you get information as the characters do
✅ tension building plot lines, full of DRAMA
✅ twists right until the last page!

This one had it all! Tension, suspense, drama, you name it, it’s in here.

I found the characters entirely frustrating, they all secrets they were desperate to keep which sometimes appeared to be at the expense of their children. I did like the addition of lots of badly behaved wealthy people as that's a set of characters I always find myself enjoying!

The ending had lots of little twists and turns to finish it off, which was quite exciting, however I could have done with one last chapter wrapping up how all of the characters were impacted after the revelation of their secrets. There was no loose ends, I just wanted a little bit more.

I would recommend this one to mystery thriller lovers! 🕵🏻‍♀️

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I found some of this a little far fetched but still a good read.

Cotswolds

Today, 10 - 7 and 8 year old students of Littleford Primary School, plus 4 staff members are heading out for the day to the Cotswold Wilderness Park. When they go to board the school’s bus, it shows mechanical trouble, so another bus is brought in and they all depart.

As the time arrives for them to return, they are late. But the bus is not seen on cameras along the way and there is not much traffic on the road they are taking. Parents and school officials are panicking as the night drags on.

As we read along in the book, it’s hinted that some of the parents may be hiding something. But what could that be? As the tension mounts, secrets surface among the parents and much is revealed.

I liked this book but some things felt a bit off. The police didn’t seem to have much pull to get out and comb the area looking for places these people could have been taken. They mostly drank coffee and worried in place. When the ending is revealed, I felt like the reason for taking these children was overdone. However, the “air was cleared” finally among the parents. Sounds rather vague I know but I don’t want to reveal any spoilers.

POV ~ multiple 3rd
Featuring ~ police procedural, secrets

Ah my mama heart. As terrible as it sounds I do like a missing child plot and in this one we have 10 missing children and 4 missing adults.

Our main narrators are parents: Reynold, Clare & Ben. Olivia is headmaster of Littleford Primary School and Sadie & Daniel are our detectives. We hear from one of the teachers in The Bunker and The Visitor too. And excitingly we hear from one of the children, Luca, to ease our pounding hearts just a little to let us know what's going on where they are, but in turn it decreased the suspense since we knew they were okay.

There are so many different POV's that it does have some repetition, but I wasn't too bothered by that because we are slowly given little nuggets about why the children might have been kidnapped. Some things were pretty predictable and I wasn't thrilled with the 2 similar secrets from the parents. And the secret that started this all, while on the terrible side, was not really groundbreaking IMO.

On to the police ~ I could just feel how tired they were from working nonstop, but do I feel they could've been a little quicker and a smidgen more thorough. I won't give much away, but this could have been wrapped up quicker than it was. They made a few questionable choices as well.

Overall, not perfect, but enjoyable and fast paced. The ending was rather surprising.

Cover gripe ~ there are 2 options, but I'm not in love with either. Maybe the school bus one if I had to choose, but I'd have liked it to look like the one described. I do like that the yellow lettering matches the lock though.

What a riveting thriller. How could so many children and adults just disappear.. did they have an accident.. or is something more sinister afoot.

These kind of chilling events aren’t common but would be any parents worse nightmare.

What I particularly liked is that the story plays on your emotions. the unknown. We’ve all sat there a some point and have over-thought a situation and the worst possible outcome and this book plays nicely into this fear.

There’s quote a few twists and misdirection to keep you on your toes but as time goes by things start to heat up as revelations are revealed, all this is setup quickly but plays on throughout, smouldering all the way until the truth is revealed right at the end.

With a plot like this I feel it’s hard to really develop the characters as motivations can be hidden but the author did a great job of setting the scenes and injecting detail just when you needed it.

Overall The Vanishing of Class 3B is packed full of suspense and misdirection, leading to an enthralling read.

A bus full of children and teachers goes on a day trip. At night parents wait for them, but the bus doesn't show up. The deeper we dive into the story, the more secrets unfold.
It's an interesting concept, but I couldn't get into the story.

I got the ARC, all thoughts are my own

Super Thrilling and Suspenseful.......................
The Vanishing of Class 3B by Jackie Kabler is an incredible mystery thriller. A school bus full of students vanish into thin air without a clue. All the parents are baffled. The plot is so interesting that you would not be able to take your eyes off. You can literally feel the tension while reading. Bit by Bit the plot unfolds with each character under suspicion. I just could not wait to finish the book to know the real culprit. And, it is sure that you would not find a thriller like this.

Definitely 5 stars for the book. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with an opportunity to read and review the book.

First, I want to thank Jackie Kabler, Harper Collins, NetGalley and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

O.M.G. Jackie Kabler has me questioning whether to send my niece and nephew on a school field trip! The Vanishing Class of 3B is every parent and teacher’s worst nightmare become reality! You will be wanting to hug your little ones a little tighter after this read! This is a scenario that surely could play out in the headlines! I don’t know where she got her inspiration but dang this was such an addictive read!! This is a book that every parent and teacher will be talking about long after they have finished the book!

The Vanishing Class of 3B deserves way more than 5 stars in my opinion! The storyline was fresh, It was totally addicting where I was literally glued to my Kindle, my heart strings were pulled hard as my heart ached for the parents, it had so many twists and turns, oh and the secrets that were revealed were unbelievably shocking! I just loved it so much and could not get enough!

I loved how Jackie pulled out every emotion possible within her characters. You couldn’t help but feel empathetic to the characters in their worry, panic, and anxiety over where their children were. Heck, I would be the same way if not worse!

What I found interesting were some of the parents were famous in the entertainment industry! Each of them having a very interesting backstory!

Jackie totally shocked me with the secrets, revelations and jaw dropping climatic ending!! This is one ending I never ever in a million years saw coming! Jackie is good!

The Vanishing Class of 3B is a book that I would love to be turned into a series on Netflix! I would totally be binge watching it if that ever became reality!

As a parent and a primary school teacher this book encompasses my worst nightmare. How does an entire class disappear on a school trip without a trace? And what secrets are lurking in the playground?
I love a multi perspective story and short chapters jumping around each main character really made this an edge of my seat read. The perspectives of different parents slowly reveal lives behind closed doors and not everything is perfect in this idyllic village in the Cotswolds. The slow reveal of clues about each character and then finding out their secrets added to the tension and made me suspicious of everyone. I love trying to play detective when I read crime novels (even though I am terrible at it). I suspected everyone and I loved this.
Occasional chapters added in from the police perspective and one of the children add intensity although I would have liked more of the investigation (I love a police procedural).
The different reactions from the adults was really well done. People react to situations I different ways and this was captured really well in the various ways the parents dealt with things.
I really enjoyed this book and yes, you do have to suspend a bit of reality, but it’s such a suspenseful and fun book to participate in rather than just read.
A very enjoyable and exciting thriller!
