A friend of mine who is an accomplished baker recommended Anna Olsen to me years ago. Ever since I have bought all her cookbooks and never been disappointed. This one is no different and I can't wait to get baking!

Absolutely brilliant baking book! I rolled over every page. While not comprehensive, Anna covers much of the baking world and includes so many interesting recipes in a peppers of categories. Pictures of recipes are included at the beginning of each extensive chapter, and commentary on background and what makes a recipe different address given for each recipe. Highly recommend.

I LOVE Anna Olson!

This book really got my creative baking brain going. Her illustrations and step by step instructions are a joy to follow, and I had a great bonding time with my children.

Cannot wait to try our next recipe!

Do you like baking? Food in general? You need this book.

This is one of the most detailed, easy to consume, beautifully written cookbooks I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Not only were the recipes well organized and well photographed, the instructions and descriptions were invaluable! I can't wait to pick up a physical copy so I can use it as my permanent baking reference guide.

I have followed Anna Olsen and her tips, tricks and recipes for years. This new addition to the cookbook market is a delightful inclusion and one I will have to get my hands on. Anna has shared many professional tips as well as explores the science of baking and an in-depth overview of techniques, ingredients and tools as well as recipes suitable for the new baker as well as those with intermediate or advanced baking skills.

I absolutely adore Anna Olsen! This is one book every baker needs to have on their shelf. Treat yourself and purchase a copy of it!

I would say this book is not for the casual baker, but it is a very detailed baking Bible for those looking to both perfect the basics as well as try their hand at complex pastries, cakes, and baked goods!

The name of the book describes it well as it is packed with her pro tips on how to nail recipes as easy as your standard icing to as complicated as macaroons (and far far more). Not only that, but it is also filled with amazing recipes that span multiple different baking skills to give a comprehensive understanding of how to bake a variety of different things.

The other amazing part about the book is how thoughtfully it was designed. The book starts with general information regarding the basics then goes into the recipes that are paired with other things (ie. curds, icings, caramels, and much more). This is useful because throughout the book it is easy to refer back to the beginning whenever needed. That said, the chapters are also really well designed! They separate things into like groups, give a legend (with pictures!!) at the beginning of the chapter, and are designed so that the skills used in earlier recipes apply in later recipes! It also tends to include dough and pastry base recipes within these chapters, but even those are designed well in that the page is always a different colour so that it stands out, and the recipes you can make with the dough always follow it. The other thing I love about the design of the book is that each recipe is classified by its level of difficulty and contains references to earlier pages with additional tips on making a portion of that recipe. And finally, because it is always useful, the book is packed with pictures, both of each recipe and to guide you through making different recipes!

Altogether, while I will specify that this book is not for everyone, for the dedicated baker, this book is a must have!

"Baking isn't just following instructions; it's a journey and an exploration."

I am a very good cook, but I don't do a lot of baking. I have a handful of recipes that I make well - chocolate chip cookies, scones, cupcakes. If I try something new, especially pastry, I usually mess it up. I think I'm just too impatient.

I had no idea who Anna Olson is, but her Baking Wisdom cookbook is full of tips and tricks, based on her years of experience. It's kind of like a shortcut for impatient bakers like me. I don't have to practice over and over in order to get it just right. Anna has all the answers. Everything from how to get things to room temperature, and why it's important, to toasting nuts, caramelizing sugar, and tempering chocolate.

I plan to purchase a copy of this book, which I got as a digital review copy via NetGalley, so I have these instructions at my fingertips. My only criticism is that many of the recipes are specialty baked goods that I will probably never make. I did make the Peanut Butter Banana Cookies which my family cannot stop raving about, and I will probably try some of the other basic recipes - scones, pie crust, and egg dough.

This is an amazing cookbook. Between the recipes/instructions, the photos, and the glossaries, it's perfect for beginner and experienced bakers. The recipes are easy to follow with lots of helpful hints, and the substitutions guide offers those with alternative diets ways to partake as well.

This is a good start to baking with helpful tips and tasty recipes. I appreciated the easy-to-follow methods because baking really isn't my strong suit. The commentary was nice and gentle and fit with the overall feeling of the book. Most of the recipes look like something I'll be trying out, but there are a few that don't interest me or my family's palate. I tried 7 different recipes before reviewing and feel confident that it's a cookbook that will appeal to a large number of inexperienced bakers.

Anna Olson has penned the ultimate baker cookbook. Each recipe is easy to follow with tons of helpful tips. It makes a fantastic gift for a birthday, anniversary, moving out, Mother's Day, Father's Day, or really any occasion. I strongly recommend this cookbook.

I really loved this baking book! I would definitely describe myself as a beginner level baker or maybe a step above. So baking books can be a bit daunting and often I have to google what certain terms mean in a recipe. But with this book the first third of it is basically baking 101. It guides you through all the steps and techniques that you’ll need for the different recipes in the book. And my god, all the recipes sound and look amazing!

To test some of these recipes out, I decided to have a mother-daughter baking day with my mom. We decided we could probably do three recipes in a day but narrowing it down to three was a bit hard as there were so many we wanted to try! One of the great features of the book was it tells you how intricate the recipes are (simple/more involved/complex) which helped narrow it down for us.

We ended up going with The Hot Crossed Muffins, Jasmine Tea Bavarian Cream Pots, and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars. And all of them turned out great. My favourite was the cookie bars. They were so soft and chewy; and the recipe was a breeze to follow. They’ve definitely replaced my old cookie recipe!

The cream pots were delicious but very rich. They’d make the perfect dessert for a dinner party or at a high tea. I made mine in teacups which made a beautiful presentation for them and matched the tea theme.

And the muffins had a beautiful spice blend that went nicely with the mixture of raisins and dried cranberries. I couldn’t find any candied orange but I added a bit of orange zest to them which worked out well. These were the perfect breakfast treat and I’ll definitely bake them all year long.

I highly recommend adding this baking book to your shelf. I’ll definitely be adding it to mine!

A beautiful, comprehensive guide book filled with tips and techniques for most baking.. There is alot of guidance and information surrounding various baking techniques.
A go-to must have book for the home baker. I was impressed with the variety and quantity of recipes offered and I cannot wait to start baking from this book!

This is an incredible baking cook book. Anna Olsen shares her incredible knowledge in a way that even beginner bakers can easily follow. This book has a variety of skill-level recipes; beginners to professionals can all enjoy these. The few recipes that I've tried so far have turned out incredibly. They have been a huge hit with everyone and will definitely be repeated.

I love the easy to read and understand information. Each receipt had extra tips and tricks to help you execute the receipt properly.

I love this baking book! I had been looking for something to really help me hone my craft in baking, and this was perfect. Everything from making caramel from scratch to how to toast nuts to use in baking, after reading the electronic copy I can’t wait to purchase a copy of this for my shelves!

What a great book that is truly filled with baking wisdom. This cookbook is perfect for baking novices as well as seasoned bakers. I have been baking for a long time and I still learned so many techniques that I can't wait to try out. This would be the perfect book for anyone who loves baking- I think it would be especially nice as a wedding shower gift because it really lets the reader know the ingredients and tools that will make their baking a success. Now to figure out what recipe I want to start with first!

An engaging and comprehensive guide to making beautiful and spectacular food!

To me, cookbooks are all about the illustrations. For example, a dry text about making alphajores cookies would never catch my imagination, but a well-staged photo to accompany the recipe makes all the difference! Every recipe in this book is illustrated, and if the recipe is complex, there are often several photos of the various stages.

This large (450 page) comprehensive book starts with an introduction to general techniques, tools and materials, and then gets down to the recipes, which have an abundance of character. Descriptions are well-written and welcoming. I was hooked by Seafood Chowder Pot Pie, and was soon imagining the assembly of a Galette des Rois! Many of the recipes are complex, but are well-enough explained that I feel comfortable trying any of them.

The only aspects of this book that did not work for me are its title and cover, which implied a celebrity-author account. Instead, I was delighted to find such clearly-written instructions, and such interesting recipes.

This book is perfect for those who wish to accomplish astonishing dishes! If a celebration meal is approaching, such as a birthday, anniversary, Sunday family dinner, or a potluck, you'll find inspiration and instruction in these pages. A beautiful cookbook!
