I have enjoyed Kimberley Woodhouse’s historical fiction. This was the first suspense I read by her, and it amazes me how the author can seamlessly produce engaging stories in different genres.

There was action, murder, danger, and chaos in this cyber-attack thriller.

What I loved in the author’s historical novels was how faith was a big part of the characters – it was part of who they were and they easily brought up their faith and trust in God. It was no different in this story. I enjoyed seeing how Jason realized he was not leaving his faith openly among the people he knew and how he stepped up to just do that and how it impacted those around him.

There was and cliffhanger moment in the epilogue, so it seems best to read this book before the second book is released soon.

If you enjoy action packed thrillers, you should add this one to your TBR.

26 Below by Kimberley Woodhouse is Book 1 in the Alaskan Cyber Hunters series from Kregel.

This book is a wonderful Christian Romantic Suspense. If you love Alaska stories and Cyber Crime stories, with a race against the nature/temperature, then you'll enjoy this book. While this is her first contemporary romantic suspense, if you enjoy Kimberley Woodhouse’s other books, you'll enjoy this one, too.

26 Below by Kimberly Woodhouse is an interesting cyber mystery. The characters were hard to relate to at times and the pace was slower than I expected. Overall, it was an interesting mystery. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

This was such a great suspense read! First of all, I thought the topic of cyber terrorism was really interesting. When you consider just how much we rely on technology for every little thing in our lives, it really makes you stop and think about just how scary such a thing that could really be. And I thought the author did a great job of creating that sense of urgency that kept me at the edge of my seat throughout the story. Early on in the story, we learn of a woman who has been warning everyone that once the temperature hits 26 degrees below, destruction will follow. While it initially seems like ramblings of a crazy woman, when other things she's said starts to happen... the threat is taken seriously. At the start of each chapter, we're given the temperature... which again really created that sense of urgency for the reader. I found myself thinking it acted kind of like the ticking clock in the show 24... in the best way possible. There was also a really great message of faith that I thought made the story all that much better too. If you're looking for a great Christian suspense read, this is certainly one to check out.

Then the bodies start dropping.
Darcie is relying on her experience and intelligence to stop a killer; Jason is relying on God to guide the way. They'll have to work together to find the truth and prevent their Alaskan town from becoming a city of nightmares. The first in a thrilling new suspense series from best-selling author Kimberley Woodhouse, 26 Below will delight fans of Lynnette Eason, Irene Hannon, and Lynn Blackburn.”

Impressions: I thoroughly enjoyed this chilling thriller (with a little romance thrown in there for good measure)! It was easy to follow the plot and get to know the characters. The characters were personable making this story come alive. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Quotes: “LORD, give me patience. Keep me from killing him. That’s gonna take divine intervention.” – Relationships are work but particularly family relationships. I found humor and truth in this short prayer.

“She loved organizing. Loved the feeling when she checked off each item. It was what kept her grounded. Made her feel normal.” –I relate to this very much and it made me smile while reading.

“‘I don’t know what your plan is, God, but I could really use a heads-up. I don’t know how to feel about this. I want to be angry. And I want it to be righteous anger. Because I feel like I’m owed that. After all the sacrifices I’ve made… God, you’re going to have to do some major work here, because I’ve had it.’” – I have prayed this prayer.

“Something about Elijah crying out to God that he wanted to die and God offering food and some sleep- so we should never underestimate the spiritual power of a nap and a snack.” -A bit more humor with truth in it to lighten the suspense of this book.

“Ok, LORD, I need to give this over to you and leave it there. I don’t want to… but You know me. Give me wisdom to deal with this and to do my work to the best of my ability.” – I’ve prayed this prayer more times then I can remember as well.

“I felt Him imprint on my heart.” – I liked this description of God speaking to us.

I received an ARC of this book via the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review shared here.

26 Below by Kimberley Woodhouse is the first in her exciting new series Alaskan Cyber Hunters. Darcie Philips has a new job. She is the Emergency Center Operations Director for Fairbanks, Alaska which prevents disasters. Jason Meyers ( a cybersecurity specialist) is working with Darcie and her office to make sure their preventions run smoothly. Unfortunately for them, a woman who is called by the media as "The Prophetess" as gained national attention by yelling out dire warnings about what will happen when the temperatures get to 26 below. Darcie dismisses the warnings until murders start happening all over Fairbanks. One of which Jason has been accused of as he was being set up by his drug addicted brother. Darcie and Jason work with their team spending long hours every day trying to prevent the warnings from coming true. Darcie is relying on her intelligence and her team while Jason is relying on God to help prevent the disaster that's coming. Of course, feelings are starting to develop between them. Can Jason crack the walls surrounding Darcie's heart? This is my first book by Kimberley Woodhouse. I truly enjoyed it. I love anything cyber and I was excited to learn so much about cybersecurity. It's a gripping tale and it will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. It was so interesting to see how much these people go through to make sure everything goes off without a hitch. It's a fun behind the scenes type of book. The author really gave a lot of detail and I appreciated all of it. The location was perfect for this type of scenario. I just loved it. Of course, I want to live in Fairbanks, Alaska. Who wouldn't? I was happy to get an epilogue. I get kinda cranky when there isn't one. LOL. I think it has the perfect premise as a romantic suspense and has MOVIE written all over it. I know it kept me up reading and on the edge of my seat. I had to know what would happen when the temps reached 26 Below! I was given a copy of this book, but all opinions are my very own.

An amazing thriller! I love that it ventures into areas that most books don't, cyber security, emergency systems, alzheimers, and Alaska so you don't feel as if it's something you've already read before.

It took me a while to get into 26 Below by Kimberley Woodhouse. It as definitely as slow start but once things started moving it picked up quickly. Knowing a cyber attack was imminent added to the suspense of the story as we waited for the temperature to slowly drop. It does leave some cliff hangers at the end so I'll for sure want to pick up the next novel in the series.

What a great start to a new series! Terrorists sabotaging our electrical grid is a very real fear that Kimberley Woodhouse skillfully tackles in 26 Below. As the temperatures plunge, a seemingly crazy old lady starts making national news by warning about catastrophic events taking place in Alaska when the temperature reaches 26 degrees below zero. Emergency Operations Center director Darcie Phillips and cybersecurity specialist Jason Myers at first dismiss the woman as unwanted publicity. But, when Jason’s troubled brother and his ecoterrorist friends pose a viable threat and bodies start to appear, they begin taking the woman’s predictions seriously.

What made this book so chilling, literally, was the setting. Having the story take place in the winter in Alaska really made the risks associated with the energy grid going down frightening. Along with the event occurring at 26 degrees below, there are other terrifying events that cause mass chaos and fear. That the author consulted with cybersecurity experts to deliver a plausible, scary story is definitely evident.

I enjoyed the characters and hint of romance bubbling under the surface. Because of a troubled past, Darcie struggles with faith and trusting others. Jason wants to help her, but she keeps her problems and emotions well hidden. Jason is frustrated by his arrogant, crazy younger brother who follows him to Alaska causing all sorts of problems. He and Darcie experience and have to work through some highly suspenseful, challenging situations which draw them closer together.

The fast-paced setting and reminder at the head of each chapter of the temperature slowly climbing downward add to the the suspense. It’s a faith-filled, intense, romantic read fans of Lynette Easton or Patricia Bradley would enjoy. Looking forward to the next book in the series! I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own and voluntarily given.

CW: brief mentions of suicide, mental illness, school shootings.

Author Kimberley Woodhouse introduces us to her gripping new Alaskan Cyberhunters series in 26 Below.
Darcie Phillips recently arrived in Fairlbanks, hired on by the governor as the new Emergency Operations Center Director. Her first official day on the job starts off by attempting to address a rather unruly group of people. Next she is confronted by the person who wanted her job, but clearly didn’t get it. Now there’s a seemingly crazy woman shouting that “when the temperature hits 26 below, the end will be here!”. Add to that her personal struggles and burdens, and Darcie has her work cut out for her creating a new life in Fairbanks.
Jason Myers is the cybersecurity expert brought to Fairbanks to train the ops center in all things cybersecurity. He’s also dealing with a fractured relationship with his drug addict brother, who finally showed up after years of no contact. He seems clean, but he’s also hooked up with some crazy group.
As “The Prophetess” (as the media has named her) continues to pop up in the streets, shouting about being ready for when the weather hits 26 below, Darcie, Jason, and the rest of the ops center team race against time and temperature to have everything up and running to prevent an attack that they cannot be sure is even real. Add to that dead bodies and acts of sabotage, every bit of progress they make is critical.
Can the ops center team make it in time? Can Jason break through the walls of Darcie’s heart? Can Darcie turn back to the Lord and allow Him to begin to heal her soul? You will want to find out!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own.

A suspense thriller from Kimberley Woodhouse! I was eager to read this. One of my favourite parts was the how the date and temperature was given at the beginning of each portion of the book. Since there are predictions that "bad things will happen" when the temperature reaches "26 below", it increased the tension of the book as you continued reading and watched the temperature nearing that degree. I enjoyed the cybersecurity aspect of the book, it was a new take on the suspense genre for me. Overall a fun read!

Darcie had the formidable taks of trying to put plans in place in the event of a cyber attack or other emergency. Her task becomes more difficult when a mystery woman begins predicting a disaster when the temperature hits 26 below zero.

This and other factors cause more challenges for Darcie and her team as they race against the clock.

Jason is the cybersecurity specialist who has been hired to tighten their security. Things get difficult for Jason when he realizes that whatever's happening, his brother is smack in the middle of it.

Jason is drawn to Darcie but her walls are so high, he couldn't break it down. The romance between them didn't feel authentic as she spent much of the book holding him at arms length.

Readers of 26 Below will be reminded that as much as we want to control things, we can't.  But until we recognize that God is sovereign, we're doomed to chase after a control we'll never have.

I received an advanced reader's copy from the publisher through NetGalley and Just Read Tours; a positive review was not required.

26 Below is a new venture for Kimberley Woodhouse! My limited knowledge of the cyber world made my understanding of some things difficult but I still enjoyed reading about Darcie Phillips, the new Emergency Operations Center director for Fairbanks, Alaska. What will happen when the temperature reaches 26 below? You will wonder if the old woman who predicts disaster when it reaches 26 below knows something or is just a crazy old woman! Will Jason Myers find what (or who) is causing problems with the cyber system? 26 Below will keep you reading to find out what happens next! I received a complimentary e-book through NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.

This book was a little confusing for me. I give the author, credit, though for all the research and thought she put into this book. I love suspense novels, and I thought this one was going to be more suspenseful than what it was. It had too much sci-fi for my taste. But if someone loves sci-fi, this one may be one for you!

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.
