As always, Sarah Adams does no wrong. After reading the first book in the series, I couldn't wait to be taken on the adventures that are Noah's sisters' love stories. Annie's was the perfect place to start!

I truly felt like I understood Annie to her core- both because of the detailed depiction of her- both inside and out- through the words Sarah wrote, and because I related to her immensely! There were times I felt like I was reading about myself (although I am sadly still in search of my own tatted up bodyguard boyfriend, sigh).

Will was the perfect counterpart to Annie. He had a 'rough' exterior (though rough is subjective because I think his exterior was quite the dream), but we were able to learn more about him and could see how soft, sweet, and understanding he truly was when around Annie. They had excellent communication throughout each phase of their relationship too- which is hard to come by in books!

Reading this book simply made me feel giddy- there was the perfect balance between silly and serious. I felt like I had butterflies the whole way through.

I will say that I have noticed Sarah's books are getting a little more 'cracked door' with every new one she releases. I do think this one was the most open of hers that I have read, but I am not complaining!

In my ARC review of When in Rome, I mentioned hoping to see James get his happily ever after right alongside the Walker siblings. I certainly think my wish is coming true! I cannot wait to return to Rome and dive into that love story when the time comes.

Thank you to Randomhouse Publishing Group - Ballantine for continuing to allow me to read early copies of books, and thank you Sarah Adams for being an author! I adore your work.

Can I gush about a book more than I will gush about this one? Annie was the perfect MC. I loved her growth throughout the book. I loved that she took the time to find herself and be true to who she is. I loved Will and the turmoil he was trying to push through. I loved the tension and the romance. This book was SWOONY in the best way. I loved this book so much!

If you were to look up the definition of "goody goody" in the dictionary, you'd find a picture of Annie Walker. Annie has spent her entire life labeled the sweet one, the kind one, or-- much to her embarrassment-- the virginal one. All she wants in life is to find someone who perfectly complements her, but after overhearing her date call her boring, Annie realizes she needs to shake things up to reach her goals. Annie's determined to find the perfect guy to help her practice her flirting and dating skills, and she has just the tutor in mind.

Will Griffin--Amelia's flirty, tattooed bodyguard-- is temporarily back in Rome, Kentucky providing security for Amelia's upcoming wedding to Noah Walker. Aside from his bodyguard duties, Will has one other important job: to stay far away from Annie Walker. Will has spent years building a wall around himself, but something about Annie's sunny disposition causes cracks to form. Despite telling himself to stay away, Will can't say no to Annie and reluctantly agrees to help her with her ridiculous scheme. But it doesn't take long before the line between friends and something more begins to blur.

I loved When in Rome, so I was thrilled to find out Adams was making it into a series. The fact that this has the fake dating trope was icing on the cake. I immediately liked Annie when she was introduced, and I couldn't wait to see her story play out. Like in all of Adams's books, her relationships shine. I adored Annie and Will together. They're so different but complement each other so well. Annie was a bit timid but had a vibrant personality when she was around Will. It was sweet seeing how they brought out the best in one another. Adams also does one of my favorite underrated tropes in here, which is when one of the main characters makes up different names for the other, so instead of calling him "Will," Annie would call him "Wilford" or "Wilson." I don't know why I love it so much, but it makes me giggle every time. I thought this one took a few chapters to find its footing, but overall, I thought it was adorable.

NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group, you, beautiful, poetic, noble-land mermaid!!!
I cherish you forever for providing this ARC for me!

Sarah Adams is an auto-buy author. Period
I don’t even need to know the premise. I just know it SA so done-zo!

As an Audrey Hepburn loving gal who has lived-in small-town Kentucky her whole life, I absolutely love this series!!! I adored When in Rome, but I was on pins and needles to read Annie’s stories.

Practice Makes Perfect has all the makings of a great rom com story
- An honest main character who was relatable
- Fun and open characters you want to cheer on
- Great development
- All the quilts and embroidery
- Hilarious background cast
- Small town hilarity
- All the Nora Ephron vibes!!!!!
- Mabel. Simple as that. She’s my favorite and will always be. She’s a big bowl of biscuit and gravy comfort and I ADORE her.

I loved this story and the raw, reality of life. We all grow up with family baggage and I love how SA wove that within her characters. Will’s story was so honest. It made me think of many of my friends who can relate to his upbringing and fear of allowing himself to love. As for Annie, I RELATE SO MUCH. Her whole life she is being told who she is by other comments and jokes. That happened to me as well in my small town raising. Why people mean well, words matter. I loved seeing her BLOSSOM and BLOOM (see what I did there).

I love love loved this book. Maybe more than the first, but that’s a big maybe!

Friends, read this for a lovely, cozy, small-town story with characters you want to be besties with!!!!!

Sarah Adams is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Practice Makes Perfect had me swooning and smiling on every page! First of all, this book was hilarious. I was rolling laughing at the baseball date scene with Amelia and Will. Annie's interactions with the other characters and her quirkiness had me constantly giggling throughout the book. I adored Annie as a character. She was SO relatable and endearing. It was a joy watching her come out of her shell and grow as a person. Will was the perfect book boyfriend. He was so sensitive and sweet behind that hard exterior. And don't even get me started on Will taking care of Annie when she was sick. Ugh, my heart!!

I felt all the warm and fuzzy feelings while reading Practice Makes Perfect, which is everything you could ask for when reading a romance. Thank you to Netgalley and Random House for the advanced copy.

I was soooo excited to get another Sarah Adams ARC! This is the second book set in Rome, Kentucky…When in Rome was one of my favorites last year. This book follows Noah’s sister, Annie and Amelia’s bodyguard, Will. Will was very swoon-worthy and I honestly related a lot to Annie. Please go read all of her books. They are just perfect!

“I swear the sunlight hits this woman different than other people. It seeps into her skin, makes her glow.” 🥹

Once again Sarah Adams wrote such a magical book. It was wonderful to be back in Rome, in a silly town where everyone is in everyone’s business all the time. I knew it was going to be good and it was SO MUCH BETTER. I loved being able to see all of the Walker siblings again. They are so involved (maybe a little too involved) with each others lives. And I loved how much they were all in the book but it was still very much Annie’s story; they didn’t overtake the story. I LOVED seeing Noah and Amelia again. I cannot WAIT for Emily and Madison’s stories (I think I’ve got them figured out, or at least I’m hoping I’m right!)

Annie and Will were the very classic good girl/bad guy trope, grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract in every way. And it was PERFECT. Because they were both so soft. They were both holding onto their emotional baggage and just processing it in totally opposite ways. Which meant they were PERFECT for each other.

All Will did was talk about how he didn’t believe in love but was constantly admiring anyone who did. It was sweet. He was so closed off, he didn’t think he could be loved, he never saw a real loving relationship growing up, so he never even tried. But there was something about Annie that opened him up in the scariest way. And it worked out SO WELL.

And Annie…I love her so much. she is known as the town’s sweetheart and nothing else, she never allowed herself to be anything else. after her parents death she never wanted to rock the boat. So she bottled up all of her emotions and never let them out. And now here is Will, allowing her to feel her feelings out loud for the time and it is beautiful.

They were SO GOOD together. They had such good communication. For someone that kept a lot to herself, Annie did such a good boy of keeping things real and honest with Will. And even though Will had a hard time communicating, he did a good job of showing Annie that he was struggling to share and to open up, and she did such a good job of supporting him. And they were FUN together. Will got Annie to get out of her comfort zone, which is exactly what she wanted! She stuck up for herself with her sisters which she never would have done before. I love them so much.

Thank you so much to Random House and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!!

*Unofficial book 2 to When in Rome*
This was just as good as Noah's book! I loved the dual POV and how they both figure out that not all change is bad. I look forward to James' book!!!! Definitely some emotions and backstories to unpack there!

I thoroughly enjoyed "Practice makes Perfect" by Sarah Adams. This is my first novel by this author but definitely not my last. If you are a fan of opposites attract romance then pick this up. Annie and Will were absolutely perfect for one another. Will was an amazing hero and I adored how his character was written. I wasn't sure if I would like 'good girl' Annie as well as I liked 'edgy' Will but she ended up being a strong female character. She found her voice and took charge of her life and it was refreshing and heartfelt. There were a lot of surprisingly poignant moments in this novel and the characters had depth. I laughed out loud several times and absolutely loved that Will embraced the pirate romance novels that Annie secretly read. While I am not a huge fan of "small town" romance novels because sometimes the supporting characters (townspeople) are too meddlesome and over the top that it is distracting to me, I didn't have this issue with this book. Yes there were several quirky side characters and a far fetched petition going around town but it wasn't so over the top which I appreciated.

Reccomend for lovers of:
-Opposites attract romance
-Fake Dating Tropes
-Small town Charm Romance
-Secret readers of pirate romance novels
-Lovers of 'Big Duke Energy'

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher Dell Books for allowing me to read an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Hands down my new favorite Sarah Adams book and one of my favorite books ever. This book was so special to me and I’m so happy that it exists.

I was so excited to be back in Rome, a place I’ve dearly missed since reading When in Rome, especially since I was reading about my favorite Walker sibling.

I was surprised to feel this instant and deep connection to Annie. I have truly never related more to a character in my life and I feel so seen and understood by her🥺💖 I feel like we’re the same person and that is so, so comforting to me. In a way, I felt like I was reading about myself, and it made me feel so much less alone in my social anxiety and the reputation I have come to have with the people I know. I adore Annie with every bone in my body.

And now let’s talk about Will. He is actually so perfect. Like one of the best book boyfriends ever! Where can I get one? He was so sweet, gentle and understanding with Annie, and always made sure she was okay. The way he treated Annie made my heart feel like it was going to burst with happiness.

Will and Annie were the sweetest ever, like I had butterflies the entire time. There are so many goofy moments that made me laugh so hard, but also a lot of really sweet, tender ones. This book is a perfect mix of everything and it made me so happy. Plus, we get to see quite a bit of everyone’s favorite couple, Noah and Amelia, which made my heart so happy!! This whole book felt like one giant hug💖

I knew I would love this book because, duh, it’s Sarah Adams, but the extent to which I loved it was off the charts. This book is so special and there are so many moments I can’t wait for everyone to be able to read so we can obsess over them together! The story was so freakin’ cute and it gave me that special feeling you only find every so often in books. That feeling that the book is something different, and wonderful, and it’ll stick with you forever.

This became an instant favorite and I feel like words can’t fully explain how much it means to me. I would give it a million stars if I could.

Now I’m gonna go read it again because I already miss Annie, Will and all of Rome, Kentucky🤍🥹

She’s a florist who’s known for being the small town sweetheart with a heart of gold and he’s the emotionally unavailable tattooed bad boy that doesn’t believe in love... until he meets her. Annie Walker is on the hunt to find the perfect match, someone she can marry, understand her, and support her happy quiet life running a flower shop in Rome, Kentucky. She definitely does not need the famous handsome tattooed bodyguard with a bad boy reputation who is emotionally available and doesn’t believe in marriage in her life, but here comes Will Griffin. Will is a bodyguard for famous celebrities, and one of his favorite clients is Annie’s sister in law. Will is someone who is constantly on the move, ready for new adventures and avoiding settling down and commitment after the disaster that was his parent’s marriage that haunts him. Yet the moment he runs into Annie as she is leaving from a bad date, he can’t stop thinking about her and he knows she spells trouble for his heart. Annie is looking for marriage but when Will agrees to be her dating coach things take a turn as Will thinks Annie doesn’t need to change herself at all, she’s perfect the way she is, but Annie thinks she needs help practicing to find the right guy for herself. and since Will is definitely not the guy for her (despite all the butterflies he gives her) there should be no problem for them since she won’t fall for him and he definitely wont fall for her... right? Will soon finds himself both bodyguarding for Annie’s sister in law and spending every other waking moment with Annie, or thinking about her, or helping her, or definitely not ( most definitely) being jealous of any guy that could be her potential husband. The more time Annie and Will spend together the more “practice” is starting to feel like actually falling in love, but can two people who are polar opposites actually be perfect for one another? Can Will finally see that maybe if he found the right person he could not only open himself to love but to opening himself to feeling that he can be loved too? Can Annie finally see that maybe what she needs isn’t a husband but to find peace with her own happiness in whatever shape or form it takes? This was such a cute and amazingly fun read, I adored the chemistry between Will and Annie! Also the town and all it’s residents were hilarious and adorable, seriously this is the perfect heartwarming read that will definitely make you smile. I adored getting to see them fall for each other and open themselves to love! Seriously add this to your tbr!

*Thanks Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Dell for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*

This book with a good girl x bad boy trope had me hooked since the very beginning. The romance was sweet, slow burn and swoon worthy. I loved the push and you pull between them, making it angsty. I also loved how we happened to got the little tidbits about some another couple that I happened to love by Adams!

Practice Makes Perfect is Sarah Adams’ second book set in the small town of Rome, Kentucky. It follows Noah’s (the love interest in When in Rome) youngest sister Annie who has always been thought of as the “good girl” in the family. That is until a tattooed bodyguard comes into town and Annie starts to think maybe she doesn’t want to be a good girl any more.

Another enjoyable book by Sarah Adams. I enjoyed the story of Annie and Will. There is a lot of humor and a few scenes that had me laughing out loud in public. Adams really has a way of writing romcom. I was surprised that Annie was almost thirty. Through the whole book I thought she was about twenty-two because she seemed young. It had nothing to do with her dating life and everything to do with her daily behavior and thoughts.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved Will and Annie’s story, the charming town, and how the author tackled the subject of grief. I look forward to reading more by this author and will definitely be recommending this!

I’ve loved everything Sarah Adams has written, but this book was next level. It had me squealing and laughing and blushing all at once. I was rooting for these characters from start to finish. My favorite part was the lack of miscommunication. They were very honest with each other which left no room for confusion, and I loved it so much. Definitely another five star read!

I adored heading back to Rome and revisiting some of my favorite characters. While I love Annie and Will, I must admit my star of the story was Mabel. I loved how she filled the parental role for both Annie and Will that was missing. I was really pleased with how it ended. I felt that the ending was perfect for both characters. I’m looking forward to the next book set in Rome!

“Practice Makes Perfect” is the second book in Adams’s Rome, Kentucky series. It features Noah’s youngest sister, Annie who owns the town’s floral shop and who is considered by everyone to be a sweet angelic girl. She feels like there’s something missing in her life and she tries to move past her social anxiety and introverted personality to date and find true love. The person she does find is Will Griffin, the sexy bodyguard for her future sister-in-law, pop star Amelia Rose. I highly recommend reading “When in Rome” before you read this. “Practice Makes Perfect” can be read as a stand-alone, but it works so much better and you know the characters better if you have read the first book. I was very excited to see that Annie was going to be one of the main characters in this book. She was one of my favorites from “When in Rome” as was Will, the other main character. The two of them had such palpable chemistry, steam was coming off of my kindle. I absolutely loved that this was a dual POV book because it allowed the reader to get both perspectives and thoughts from the main characters and it allows the reader to see interactions from both MC’s perspectives. It was great to see how they felt about each other. The side characters, especially Mabel, were spectacular. I want more of Mabel, she’s hilarious! I think that there’s going to be another Rome, Kentucky book, if a scene in “Practice Makes Perfect” is any indication and I cannot wait for it. Thanks to Sarah Adams, Netgalley and Random House Publishing for an e-arc.

I love me a fake dating story. This is no exception. Will and Annie are adorably perfect. I really like Annie’s coming into her own and no longer letting others define her. I was hesitant to say this here but unless I blacked out while reading this is a closed door romance. You still get a fair amount of heat through the longing and lots of making out but no actual … penetration. This is Sarah Adam’s MO but I completely forgot and it was not mentioned in the blurb so … read for the sweetness not necessarily the spicy. I was given an advanced reader's copy via NetGalley, thank you to them. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was such a whole-hearted read! Sarah Adams has a knack for creating such loveable characters that both speak to you and have you rooting for them from beginning to end. While the trope of I-secretly-want-you-but-act-like-I-don't is used a lot in romance books, I felt a tinge of a difference in this book. Maybe because I felt more connected with the characters. Definitely a romance book I would recommend!
