The book started off great, with Rayne's funny and relatable inner dialogue making her instantly likable. Her quick romance with Hale felt genuine, even though it caught me by surprise. But things got a bit overwhelming in the second half with problem after problem popping up out of nowhere. Some traits in Hale and his dad felt a bit off, and the rushed ending and sudden cliffhanger left me feeling a bit disappointed, especially since I didn't realize it was part of a series.
Overall, it was an entertaining read.

The ARC of this book was provided by NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review This was my first time reading this author but I'll definitely be checking out her other books and adding them to my TBR. Awesome story about how opposites attract. Enjoyed reading this one and planning to read the second book! I can't help but relate to Rayne all throughout this book! We take a calamity and by the end she's transforms to a more self confident woman! I love her - especially her banter. Love a good banter. She cracked me up!

This is a good book. The two main characters are Rayne and Hale. Rayne wants a change in her life so she applies to be a personal assistant for a wealthy man. The wealthy man turns out to be Hale’s father. There is an instant attraction. They go out on dates. They are living on a yacht. Through all their problems they fall in love.

I wanted to like this book, but I had a hard time connecting with the characters. Hale was...fine, but Rayne struck me as immature and entitled. She puts her resume online with minimal experience and then is surprised when she's not being sent offers for jobs other than entry-level or service industry jobs. I had such a hard time liking her.

Honestly, this book kind of sent me into a book slump. I had to keep taking breaks and reading or rereading other books to get through it. It was really funny in parts and I did laugh out loud a few times, but I don't think I care to read the next ones.

Calamity Rayne was an unexpectedly good book, and I truthfully enjoyed it a lot. So if you are looking for a romance comedy that will make your teeth fall from sweetness, this book is for you!

The story resolves around Rayne, who's always causing disasters and her new adventure - the job opportunity to work for the rich Davenport family. However, while working for them, she meets the man of her dreams, and now everything is about to change.

I loved the writing style and the story. It was the perfect mix of reality and fiction! And I LOVED the communication between the two main characters!

The heroine, Rayne, is a very interesting and chaotic person, and while she can be brain dead sometimes, I don't think she is as disastrous as she is described. <spoiler>My only issue was with her crying so much </spoiler>

The hero, Hale, was also a great character. He was sweet, but also spicy. His control and confidence were panties-wetting, and I loved the way he was portrayed. And while he is not in the top 10 book boyfriends, he deserves an honorable mention!

Remington... I love his character, and I really enjoyed that Rayne's daddy issues weren't connected to a love interest, rather than a simple paternal figure. Their interactions were both sweet and infuriating, and the connection they have is very adorable.

Why did I give it 4 stars? In all fairness, I was really debating if I should give 4 or 5, but because the shortness of the spicy scenes, and <spoiler>the surprising baby, which I hate as a trope</spoiler> I decided to settle for 4.

However, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

This was a pretty genuinely funny time. I am really looking forward to reading the next one in the series. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a fun summer read with a quirky and chaotic main character. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really didn’t expect to enjoy this book -

But honestly I was hooked on Raynes life. I appreciate her whimsical approach to life.

When she meets her complete opposite in her bosses son, they are the real definition of “when opposites attract”

this book left me with lots of giggles + I can’t wait to read the next in the series to get more of Rayne!

Rayne's life has not been kind to her, so basically on a whim, she applies for and lands a job that she is not quite prepared or qualified for.She grasps this opportunity to restart her life in a new and shiny environment but calamity is never far behind. She is sparky and witty and her comebacks to her conniving employer are oftentimes brash and unapologetic even while she is fearful of going too far.Hale, her boss' son is wary but attracted to her at first meet and engineers ways to be in her company. They hit it off and as you continue to read this story, you wonder if "hot mess" Rayne will eventually get it right. This was a comical, heartwarming story with just a smidgen of jealousy thrown in.I will continue to seek out the other books in this series as they become available. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing access to this ARC.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and author for an ARC of this book. I am leaving this unbiased review voluntarily. This book is the first in a series and the second book that I have read by this author - I have to say that I find this writer's work really enjoyable to read.
This is a comedy and there are plenty of hilarious moments and turns of phrase that made me snort/laugh. But there is some real depth to the characters too, which makes them so relatable.
Rayne is nicknamed 'Calamity Rayne' but to be honest, I just think she's a smart, capable person trying to find where they fit in a world full of boring options.
When she takes the opportunity to be a personal assistant on a luxury yacht, she is being incredibly brave. It's also great to see how she matures emotionally through the experience.
Hale is a wonderfully layered and interesting character as well. Since the entire book is told from Rayne's perspective, he is hard to get a read on at first, but he's the one I loved the best when I finished this book.
I need to let you know that this book ends on a cliffhanger and I am so interested to see where this story goes.
I hope we'll get more of Rayne's friends and how Rayne and Hale work through the massive changes in their lives. This was a really fun read.

I’ve been dragging my feet trying to finish this book and I’ve just come to the conclusion that it’s not going to happen. I like Rayne well enough but she also irritates me. I admire her drive to get the job and she seems smart but then does silly things. I may try again in the future but for now, it’s a DNF.

This was such a cute book! The cover really threw me off but I ended up really enjoying myself while reading this. Sometimes you need a book that’s full of humour and a little bit silly.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an E-ARC to read and review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Read if you like:
- snarky, humorous narrator
- long chapters
- boss x employee romance
- grump x sunshine
- single POV

Rayne Meyers is a little bit down on her luck lately, but she knows all she really needs to turn this around is a nice cushy assistant job working for a rich family in a beautiful tropical land 🤪 And what would you know it but the richest family in town is actually looking for some help while the patriarch of the family Remington Davenport recovers from a heart attack AND a broken leg. After a few disastrous and painful phone calls to make her dreams come true she actually gets the job! 😮
I love that the chapters are named!! (and I feel like all the books I read as a kid had chapter titles, and I honestly really miss it! It gives you a little sneak peak of what’s to come in the chapter.
The author’s writing style was right up my alley and I absolutely loved it. She was snarky and sarcastic and hilarious all at once! It was very enjoyable to read with this narration, and also I didn’t want to stop reading because it was just hilarious.
I really liked the main character, and there were a lot of unlikeable characters getting into conflict with the MC, and I absolutely loved the banter between characters. The sarcastic care-free attitude the MC had when interacting with these unlikeable characters actually made me giggle out loud 🙊
I enjoyed the inclusion of some text messages between the characters because, although the book is a single POV it also lets us see a tiny bit into the view of others surrounding the MC.
I think this is my favourite romance troupe: grouchy guy who gets mad at anything the girl says/does and then a sunshine girl who takes joy in annoying the boy 🤣 It creates excellent and funny banter between the characters, and I loved reading it 💕
I would absolutely recommend this book to literally anyone 🤪 but especially anyone who likes to laugh while you are reading! I love LOL rom coms!

For me "Calamity Rayne: Gets a Life" is a fun, beachy read. It is book that does not take itself too seriously and is quite enjoyable when taken for what it is: a slightly unrealistic romcom.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A strong and solid 2.75 stars however I strongly dislike cliffhanger and this book ends with a major cliffhanger. She learns a lot about herself on this job. I took of .75 due to the cliffhanger. She applies for a job she's majorly underqualified for and she comes to realization as she continues to work. He's going to be a father but its not his baby and the twists continue from there. Overall a good and entertaining read.
