3.5 Stars Vacation Wars by Meghan Quinn was a fun, quirky, and sweet rom com. At the Santorini resort that her family has vacationed at every summer, thirty year old Tessa Doukas is ready for a week of bonding with her twin sister, Roxane, and her friends, Clea and Lois, before Roxane’s wedding. But, due to a “contract” the friends all signed in high school, since Tessa is still single at thirty, she has to turn her love life over to them. Roxane especially is determined to find someone for Tessa and goes to great lengths to humiliate the shy and nerdy Tessa in the name of love. Since she was six years old, Tessa has had a crush on the resort owner’s son, Myles. Myles has always carried a torch for Tessa and finally has a chance to get to know her when he offers to assist with her “vacation wars” with her sister and friends.

This was a very unexpected but very funny and sweet story. I loved Tessa and related to her feeling like the fixer amongst her friends, and putting others’ feelings ahead of her own. Myles was so sweet and I loved that they crushed on each other for years. The hijinx and escalating stakes between Tessa, her sister, and friends were so funny. Recommend this one!

A cute romance full of twin/family drama and set in beautiful Santorini. The sisterly squabbles felt very real. It was a quick, enjoyable read.

Rating: 4.5 star
Genre: Romance

Thoughts: Add this to your Summer TBR immediately! I mean a romcom set in Greece...Yes please!!!

I am a fan of Meghan Quinn's writing....think Sleepless in Seattle meets Wedding Crashers! The humor in her books really sets her apart from other writers.

This book follows childhood crushes, who reunite for "vacation wars" against the female lead's friends and sister! Chaos and love ensues!

This would definitely be a great book to read on a beach this Summer!

I love Meghan Quinn. Her books are never too deep and like this one, laugh-out-loud funnyII had high expectations for this book and felt a little let down. Tessa has vacationed at the same resort in Greece for all of her life, and always had a crush on Myles (The Bulge) since she was old enough to have crushes. Now her twin sister, Roxane, has chosen to have her wedding there and Tessa, with Roxane, and their two best friends are back. And so is Myles after a 7 year stint at a hospitality program in New York. Tessa's friends and Roxane have a "contract (notarized) that says if one of them is single at 30, they turn their love life over to their friends to set them up. This is where it gets weird. They are so over the top with trying to set her up with any single guy at the resort that it becomes obnoxious. Meanwhile, Tessa has started dating Myles secretly, and for some reason which we never quite get to, she doesn't want to tell them and keeps it a secret and goes to great lengths to hide their relationship. It felt very "high school" though they are all in their thirties with kids and life partners. Some maturity occurred towards the very end but the whole idea of the contract and that they couldn't move more than 10 miles from each other just felt meh. There was a good amount of spice and a lot of laughter. For that, I am giving it three stars.

It was cute. The idea of Vacation Wars was funny and fresh. Had its moments of humor, intrigue, and of course heat.
The end felt a little thrown together and rushed though.
The friendships were authentic, the sibling relationship felt a little ruthless and “band-aid” like, and the love development was interesting. Quinn has a knack for creating unique, quirky characters and situations. Sometimes the follow through is a little rocky, but it ties together in the end.

Vacation Wars is a fun, sweet book that makes you want to travel. It has great humor and plenty of heat that Meghan Quinn is known for. I loved following along with Myles and Tessa. I didn’t want it to end.

The prologue was very needed and laid the foundation of the story well. This book was funny. Like I laughed at various one-liners all throughout. One particular favorite “No one asked for a gentleman in these parts. Move along, man”. Loved the nickname for Myles. Again with that great element of humor. Also died laughing at the scene where Tessa was dreaming of Myles and Clea says “why is she puckering her lips like that”. This book is gold. I think the 4 girls friendship was very sweet and had a lot of fun nostalgia references mixed in to make them relevant. I just truly adored both Tessa and Myles characters. They are kind, good human beings and to me it’s what can make a book a 5-star book versus a 3 or 4 if the main characters are lovable and endearing. The author absolutely nailed it with this book. I obsessively read it in 2.5 days because it was just THAT good.

I’m such a huge fan of Meghan Quinn’s, that when I saw this book I immediately knew I needed to read it.

This book is told from Tessa’s and Myles POV.

Tessa is a shy, awkward woman who turned thirty a few months ago. She travels to a resort in Greece, where she goes every year with her family, to celebrate with her sister and her friends for her sisters upcoming wedding.

Myles is the charming, helpful guy that works at the resort, which his father owns. Ever since he’s seen Tessa from the start he’s had a major crush on her.

I really liked how Tessa and Myles got to get to know each other and have fun with the “wars”. I felt their chemistry from the very beginning and I was rooting for them the entire time. The spicy scenes were great. I loved how Myles treated Tessa and vice versa.

The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star for me was the sister and friend situation. Yes, it was all very much needed so it could build up, but I wanted to shake them the entire time. The things they did made NO SENSE.

However, like all things, Meghan wrapped up the book really well. I only wish the epilogue was longer. I felt like everything wrapped up a little too quickly.

Overall a very cute read.

The story and characters were very good, and the angst was heartbreaking, but I’ve missed Megan Quinn’s signature LOL comedy in her last couple of books, including this one. Maybe she’s intending to go more “straight”? It’s not that it’s not still really good, just not what I expect from her.

ARC REVIEW
Vacation Wars by
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🌺 Tessa has been coming to a resort in Santorini every year with her family. She has also been crushing on Myles, who works at the resort, since she was six. That was until he disspeared for seven years. Now, Tessa is back for a girl's trip. And the best part--so is Myles.

This was AMAZING. Honestly, it is my favorite Meghan Quinn novel, hands down.
Here’s what I loved.

🌺 TESSA!! She is my new favorite character. She is shy and filled with anxiety. She’s socially awkward and babbles when nervous. She is also incredible endearing. I loved her and literally felt her in my soul.

🌺 Santorini. I’ve never been to Greece but I want to now. The resort and surrounding areas were so well drawn out that I saw it all in my head.

🌺 Myles. He was downright adorable. I also loved how much he adored Tessa. They were perfect for each other.

🌺The humor. This book was hysterical. I found myself laughing out loud a few times.

Thank you to the author for the ARC book in exchange for an honest review.

Meghan Quinn has never disappointed me before, and this book is no exception. Witty, brilliant, and just awkward enough to be relatable, Vacation Wars was another great read full of hilarious scenes (the nose booping made me cackle and startle my sleeping husband) and the vulnerability of learning to express emotions. I laughed out loud at parts and cried my eyes out in others, but all in all it was worth that happy ending. I couldn't put it down, reading through most of the night (when I definitely should've been sleeping), but I don't regret it one bit. I loved it, Meghan! Can't wait to read your next masterpiece ☺️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

What a great book! I’m a huge fan of Meghan Quinn’s books and, this one did not disappoint!
Tessa, her twin sister Roxanne, and two friends take a trip to Santorini to relax before Roxanne’s wedding that will take place there in three weeks. Instead of relaxing and having fun, Roxanne decides to “help” Tessa’s love life, and she’s determined to find her love. This was adorable and heartwarming. Tessa’s awkwardness had me laughing out loud! I obviously loved her and Miles relationship and their past. But what I also loved were the parts that touched on Miles and his dad, and Tessa and Roxanne. This was such a fun, charming, and hilarious read!

I really wanted to like this book I went in with high expectations. Tessa and her family vacation in the same Greek resort every year and since she was a teenager she had a crush on Myles son of the resort owner. Now she's there with her best friend and twin sister for her sisters wedding and runs into Myles again. Her friends are trying to set up based on a contract they signed in high school stating the rules they will by one being if single at 30 the other girls will find your match. Tessa goes to great lengths to avoid being set up and after some humiliating encounters Myles offers to help her because of course he's had a crush on her too. I did enjoy both the main characters and felt they were likeable and had some good character development. That being said I did not enjoy the friends/twin sister of Tessa. Their whole dynamic felt very juvenile and over the top they were supposed to be 30 years old all in committed relationships one with children and they acted like late teens with unlikable personalities and childish pranks. Her twin sister being the worst and I could not for the like of me figure out why any of them were still friends. There was some development with them towards the end that showed some maturity but it was a too late for me to really care about what happened to any of them. This as quick read had some funny moments and definitely had some spicy scenes. I want to thank Montlake and NetGalley for the digital arc of this novel in exchange for an honest review. I rated 3 starts rounded up from 2.75.

Thanks so much to Meghan Quinn and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own!

Vacation Wars follows Tessa Doukas as she returns to Santorini for her annual trip alongside her twin sister and two best friends. Often seen as the background twin, Tessa has been unlucky in love and carrying her childhood crush for the Greek lifeguard, Myles who just so happens to also be at the resort and trying to navigate his loyalty to his family.

Firstly this book was hilarious! Literally giggling to myself on every page. The interactions between the girls was so funny and I absolutely loved the one liners that were quite literally every single sentence. The humour alone is 5/5.

Secondly, I loved the way Myles and Tessa reunited, knowing that they both had feelings for each other made it even more better. The way Myles uplifted Tessa as she tries to overcome her insecurities especially when she’s been constantly compared to Roxane, her more daring and outgoing twin. I loved seeing how both characters had to balance their familial loyalties and their commitment to try and be together was so sweet!

Lastly, the conflict was excellent, practically realistic. I struggled seeing the sisters insecurities come to light and hated the way Tessa was overcome with the constant negative pointers about her life. Myles proved to be the perfect life partner since he never let Tessa fall for the toxic comments. Similarly, Myles trying to prove his commitment to his Baba was so admirable.

Overall, an excellent read. Both a love story and an ode to family, well paced and absolutely hilarious. Highly recommend!

I adore Meghan Quinn and her writing style just works for me, I also fall in love with every character she writes and this is no exception.

I love Tessa and Miles, I just need more of them in my life.

Childhood crush? Greek setting? Some romance and spice? What more could we want from a romance novel? Nice, light read to help me out of a reading slump! I'm excited for more Meghan books!

This book was amazing!! So different from
Other books I’ve read. It reminded me a lot of sisterhood of the traveling pants. I loved the friendships Tessa had with Lois and clea and of course her twin Roxane. Well written!! Loved it!
