I want to preface that I absolutely love Meghan Quinn. She’s given me two of my top 2022 reads this year alone. But sadly this book didn’t hit the right notes for me.

The story itself was a tale of two half’s. Whilst I adored the romance itself, the side characters (in particular, the heroines sister) flat out ruined this book for me. This book had the typical MQ swoon and comedy, but I had the hardest time getting past the side characters and the horrible way they treated the heroine. It was toxic for me unfortunately.

While this wasn’t my favourite Meghan book, I’m still a huge fan and always will be.

If you are looking for a book that will have you cracking up with a side of the feels check out Vacation Wars! If you’re going on vacation or wanting to feel like your on vacation…another reason to check this book out! I definitely want to go to Greece now! This one was a bit of a slow burn bit worth the wait! I wasn’t ready for this one to end! This is the book that is definitely like to see where these characters are ten years from now! Overall a great read that I’d recommend!

Received a arc for a honest review.

Set at a resort in Santorini, Tessa is with her twin sister and their best friends enjoying a girl’s trip before her sister’s wedding. Very Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants vibes with the friend group and their traditions that started in high school. While I thought some of the girls’ actions were immature for 30 year old women, I think in the end they all had growth, and I laughed so much and died with lots of secondhand embarrassment.

Myles’ family owns the resort and he is having difficulties with his dad. Myles and Tessa have crossed paths many times over the years without ever speaking, and they both have crushes on each other.

Tessa, while very awkward and quirky, was relatable in her insecurities and shyness. Myles was lovely – obsessed with him! I loved the romance and character growth in this story.
The setting, the family drama, the friendships, the stories of love and loss – it had everything. And truly turned into vacations wars!

Thank you Netgalley and Meghan Quinn for this ARC!

Can Meghan Quinn do any wrong?? The answer is no.

I'm a ride or die Meghan girly at this point. I know she's going to give me the giggles. I know I'll be kicking my feet and screaming through the best kind of nonsense and I'll east it up every time.

I’m a huge fan of Meghan Quinn’s books and her wit and banter is fully on display in Vacation Wars!
What I loved - the budding romance between Tessa & Myles and all of their missed connections over the years; Myles’ attempts at rekindling his relationship with his father after seven years; Tessa’s awkward attempts at looking undesirable and at early conversations with Myles; and the slow burn and worth the wait steamy scenes.
What I didn’t love as much - the friendship between Tessa, her twin, and their two friends - it was a bit too mean spirited at times.
If you love a slow-burn romance with picturesque scenery, and some pranking between sisters and friends, this could be the book for you.

I was absolutely ready to give this 5 stars long before I had even finished reading it. But then I got to the last 10 percent, and honestly ended up skimming most of it up to the incredibly predictable (and in my opinion especially for romance novels cliche) epilogue. I just cannot stand when a character loses themselves and bases their lives and overall happiness on a man, It's worse than miscommunication troupes for me.
The rest did have me captivated though. Once you get past the group of 30-year-old women acting incredibly juvenile. With friends like that who needs enemies?

I adored Tessa and Myles and could not get enough of them finally living out their long-wanted love affair. It is why I was so sure that it was going to be a 5 star rating and maybe in my heart it is but my brain cannot accept Tessa's deciding she's only happy when she's with him.

4 stars!

"Vacation Wars" is my first Meghan Quinn book, and if this is a preview of what's to come, sign me up! Her writing is so spicy, so descriptive, so funny! This book made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion. The banter is top-notch! I enjoyed the main characters, Tessa and Myles (though Tessa can be a bit much and a little too try-hard and *~quirky~* for my tastes). I appreciate the time Quinn takes to develop their friendship and relationship, both from afar and up close once they get to know each other better. The premise of this book is really cute... haven't we all "fallen in love" on vacation? Well, Tessa gets a real shot at the boy who has enchanted her for years. Her social awkwardness might get in the way, though (to a cringeworthy degree). While she's busy wanting to get to know Myles, her twin sister Roxanne and their two best friends have made it their mission to find her a man (just not the man she wants) to honor the pact they made in high school. I must say, at times, I HATED Roxanne. I get that the shenanigans between the sisters are supposed to be funny, but man... they ventured into borderline toxic and downright mean territory. My one critique is that the dialogue gets pretty repetitive after a while, and I think this book could have been a little bit shorter. It's a predictable book, but that doesn't stop it from being a good time. I recommend this one!

Thank you to NetGalley, Meghan Quinn, and Montlake for providing me with an ARC copy of this book! All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for my review.

Vacation Wars has me planning out a trip to Greece, sooner than later. The story of twin sisters who are so very different and a long time crush that has possibilities many years later becomes a laugh a minute rom-com as well as a clash of wills and some eye opening moments for several in the characters in the book. Tessa has always stood in the shadow of her twin sister Roxane and has been okay with it for the most part-until a teenage contract between friends begins to unravel their bonds and illuminate their differences. Myles has his own issues to deal with within his own family and the reality of these two becoming true to themselves and coming together seems impossible. I had a few eye roll moments and many, many laugh out loud (read to my husband) moments.

I have a few mixed feelings regarding this book. I did love the premise of the MCs knowing each other and unknowingly crushing on the other for years and finally having their moment. Tessa Doukas is the shy, quiet, and oh so awkward twin whose family for years have been vacationing at the Anissa’s Palace Beach Resort in Santorini which happens to be owned by the father of the hero of this story, Myles Cirilo.

It has been 7 years since these two have seen each other, but when Tessa, her twin sister Roxane and their two best friends decide to have an all girl week before Roxane’s wedding at the resort, they are finally face-to-face. After an almost cringe-worthy reunion, these two developed a friendship, helping the other out with some family issues. It really was Tessa and Myles that really made the book for me.

What put me on the fence was the secondary characters all round. I really had a hard time with how Roxane treated Tessa throughout the book. I was okay with her at the end, but I was really upset for Tessa.

Overall, Vacation Wars was a cute love story that had me laughing out loud so many times. The things that came out of Tessa’s mouth was so embarrassingly hilarious and I loved how Myles loved that about her. I did wish Tessa was better at defending herself more (and sooner) and really learning to communicate better, but I still loved her. Myles really has to be the best book boyfriend!

Thank you to Netgalley and Montlake Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.

Tropes: friends to lovers, destination, love on vacation, childhood crush, angsty

Something about this book I just absolutely loved! I loved the setting which was in Greece, I love the feel this book gave and I LOVE the main characters.

Tessa has gone to Santorini with her family since she was a little girl. She spent her summers there with her parents and twin sister. Jump ahead and now she is there with her twin sister and best friends celebrating her twins wedding. But things go off the rails when the girls are determined to find a man for Tess. That is when Myles, the man Tessa has crushed on since she was child comes in and helps her out.

This is such a sweet story of two people coming together and building a friendship and relationship. I loved Tessa's quirks and random facts she throws out but I love that Myles embraces those quirks. While you are reading this you may want to push Roxanne (Tessa’s twin) into the pool multiple times but I promise it will all be worth it at the end of this sweet romance.

Thank you so much Meghan Quinn and Montlake for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Let me start by saying I am a HUGE fan of Meghan’s books. Her writing brings me so much comfort and I love her for that, but this book wasn’t 100% it for me.

I loved reading about Tessa and Myles’s relationship (I’m a sucker for a childhood friends/crush to lovers trope), but I couldn’t stand Tessa’s sister and friends. At times they were just cruel and my heart hurt for Tessa.

I did however LOVE seeing Myles and his dad rekindle their relationship. As a daughter of a stubborn father, I saw a lot of my relationship reading about them.

It’s giving Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants meets Sex in the City vibes. And sprinkle in a bit of 13 going on 30, just for good measure.

Over all I thought this was a cute and enjoyable read. Very different than Quinn’s previous work.

While on a ladies trip to ring in her twin sisters wedding, Tess runs into her long standing childhood crush. This leads to her sister and best friends bringing up a contact from their youth involving a lucky perfume and shenanigans ensue.

Despite how adolescent these 30 year old women were at times, I rather enjoyed their banter and individual personalities. This is where it reminded me a lot of the infamous quartet from Sec in the City.

I kind of struggled a bit with Tess because though the socially awkward and quirky personality was relatable it was over the top at some points.

The spice isn’t really at Quinn’s best but it keeps with the playful breezy theme of the rest of the book and it added to the more wholesome story line.

I would recommend this to anyone feeling nostalgic for some 90s vibes and just looking for a nice summer read.

Tessa's twin sister is getting married at their family's favorite vacation spot in Greece, and to celebrate the twins and thier two best friends are arriving a week early just to spend time together and enjoy the quiet before all the festivities start. What Tessa doesn't realize is that a contract that the girls made when they were teens is going to rear its ugly head. Each woman has found their partner, but Tessa is still single and now that she's reached 30, the contract gives her friends control over her romantic life. While Tessa wants nothing but to relax, her friends are becoming more and more manipulative in their attempts to pair her off with anybody that will say yes. When Tessa gets help in fighting back with one of the resort's staff, it becomes a battle to ward off their unwelcome attempts at matchmaking. Welcome to Vacation Wars.

Like everything Meghan Quinn writes, this book is full of fun, humor, embarrasing situations, and steamy romance. Tessa has always had a crush on one of the staff at the resort, and she and her friends call him 'the bulge' (for reasons we can all probably figure out), and watching Tessa bumble along, embarrasing herself in front of him is adorable (and a little cringy) to watch. The battles between the ladies are a hoot, and Tessa gives as good as she gets. But there are also a lot of touching moments as each character goes through their own issues in trying to establish themselves in who they want to be and what they want to do. This was a great read with an incredibly original premise, and the perfect beach read for this summer!

Thanks to Montlake Publishing for providing me an ARC of this book.

Vacation Wars had me from the description when I first read it and I'm very glad I took a chance on this book. I really enjoyed it even though it did feel like it took me a very, very long time to read it.

Tessa and her family have been spending summer vacations in Santorini, Greece ever since she was a young girl. Over the years, she developed a crush on the son, Myles, of the hotel owners. Several years ago she even tried to kiss him once, but that ended in embarrassment and not in the romance she had hoped for. Now Tessa's twin sister is getting married at the Hotel Anissa and she, her twin and two of their best friends have gone early to vacation and are making it their mission to find a partner for Tessa. The antics of Tessa's twin and their friends were a little much in my opinion. They went too far and didn't care to listen to Tessa's feelings on the situation.

Myles has grown up at the Hotel Anissa, given his parents own it. His parents are now divorced, but Myles has always wanted to be involved. He left for seven years to go to New York City to learn more about the hotel business, but now he's back to help his father continue the family legacy. While he has returned, his father is still icy towards him for being gone for so many years. He doesn't understand why he went and is punishing him in his own way by shutting him out.

Myles and Tessa find solace in one another given they are both dealing with their own issues. Myles accepts Tessa as she is, for who she is and doesn't want to change her. Tessa understands that everything he has done is because he wants to be a part of what his father has created here with the resort. They also learn what they have meant to one another over the years even though they had no idea at the time what the other was thinking. Will they be able to make a relationship work even with an ocean between them?

I really enjoyed this story and it made it that much sweeter that I have a trip planned to Santorini myself this fall; I simply can't wait now!

I enjoyed the fun, mostly light trip to Greece. Tessa and Myles have crushed on each other for years during her annual family vacation to his family's resort. Finally they connect when he tries to help her get back at her sister and friends' attempts to set her up with practically any single man around.
There were some funny moments and some awesome dates. This was a nice little escape.

This book was cute! We've got a quirky, terribly awkward main character named Tessa, and a lifesaver hottie named Myles who used to see each other every year on vacation (though they didn't interact). Then, after not seeing each other for some years, they run into each other when Tessa's twin is getting married. While Tessa's sister is trying to find her a soulmate, Tessa falls into Myles's arms.

So, like I said, this book was really cute. However, there was a lot of secondhand embarrassment. Like a lot. But it definitely relatable. The storyline was good. I will say, I hated Tessa's sister and kind of the whole friend group dynamic. It just seemed so toxic and not good vibes.

However, the relationship between Myles and Tessa was fun and flirty and cute. I really liked the chemistry between the two of them.

this book is giving a mix full of banter, emotional, drama and romance. it’s perfect already. i was hooked from the prologue that got me laughing. the introduction for Myles and Tessa literally got me giggling. this is my first time reading a book from Meghan Quinn and not gonna lie i’m enjoying so much. this will not be the last time i guess. this book is not only focused on romance but it is also more to family and friendship. absolutely in love with the tension and the angsty in this book.

i don’t want to write a long review but let me just say a bit about this book so basically it’s about Tessa who is spending her holidays with her family at Santorini and she has always had a crush on Myles who is the resort’s owner’s son. it’s a strangers-childhood to friends to lovers. very very interesting plot. the relationship development between them is always got me smiling and giggling. Tessa’s relationship with her sister and her friends are also one of the best plot in here we literally got to see their ups and downs. while Myles, he’s such a beautiful soul. he’s such a supportive guy. the way he always being there for Tessa just made me cried even though he had a big problem with his family. Myles and Tessa will always be my fav.

so in conclusion, you need to read this if you love a beautiful destination romance with the two lovers who spend their childhood watching from afar and a story about love, acceptance and finding a way even when it’s impossible. very great story and quite meaningful.

thank you to netgalley for this e-ARC. this book will release on 18th April!!! go get them!!!

***5 Stars***

This baby was a roller coaster of a ride, not that I was necessarily surprised considering the author and the title of the book, but still…my brain is a little sore from the craycray, but my heart loved how Myles and Tessa found their HEA because of the craycray.

I gotta say, I adored Myles from the start. He is just a good man. Sweet, quick on his feet and when he wants something, he goes for it. Tessa, drove me a little batshitcrazy, but I did adore her because she owns all that she is and is unapologetic about it.

As for their journey to their HEA. I loved watching them finally collide and get to know each other up close and personal instead of from afar. While things may have started off awkward (OMG the awkward was so real) it’s plain to see that there is a spark between them. I loved their flow and how they admired and respected who the other was and found their quirks to be endearing, instead of annoying. While most of the journey is pretty smooth sailing (the wars aside) they do deal with some real world road blocks, but with a little nudge here and there, they get the HEA they both deserve.

Now, as I said at the start, this baby is a roller coaster of a ride. As is the norm with this author, OTT happens and the “wars” definitely went there. Some were amusing, others not so much, but I will say that they are the reason why Myles and Tessa FINALLY connect, so they have their purpose…they also bring up some heavy issues ~ one which I definitely related to ~ so they, again, have a purpose. While I did like Roxanne, Clea and Lois, Toby is my fav and I am crossing my toes that he gets an HEA at some point down the road.

I started out really liking this book. Overall it was pretty good. I had issues with Roxane as she annoyed me for a good 60% of the book. Not to mention that most of the chapters were above 30min of reading time. I usually have trouble with books with longer chapters, because it loses my attention.

I was craving hummus for the majority of this book and I did enjoy the setting and the main characters.

I think the only flaws I really cared about was how irritating Roxane was and the length of the chapters.
