Upon returning home after a 10 year absence - Katie wants to make amends and help her sister get better, confront her BFF Emma about what she saw that night.

This was a good quick read the only cons were a few errors where the wrong name was transposed Jimmy/ Jeff causing some confusion.

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture Audio, and Shannon Hollinger for an ARC copy.

This was my first time listening to an audio book. The story was interesting but I was not able to finish the book. I found the voices that the narrator was doing for the different characters to be distracting and took me away from the story.

This was my first Shannon Hollinger's book, and won't be my last. This is a great thriller, complex, intricate, and captivating. The characters are enigmatic and well developed. I liked the mystery, the secrets, drama, and the unexpected twists and turns. Kate Handford did a good job bringing this story to life. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley, a Bookouture Audio production, for an honest review.

This one was a little bit of a slow burn, but it definitely kept me hooked. I did like the plot twists at the end.

Unexpectedly good. Wasn't sure of the story from the cover, may not have picked it up if I hadn't read the blurb. Enjoyed the listen and reccomended it to others on holiday. Relatively straightforward forward, listen. Good mix of characters, good storyline, would read more from the author

This mystery of a young woman battling her past started out quite slow. It did pick up as it went on, but it wasn’t as gripping as other thrillers I’ve read. I did like the dynamics between her and her sister who suffered from selective mutism. The mystery of their past trauma kept me reading on.
Thanks to NetGalley for the review copy.

Wow! This book has a lot, and I do mean a lot. With that being said, I thought it was very entertaining, even though it was slightly slow in the beginning. Some of the things that happened were way over the top and unbelievable. It definitely kept me interested and engaged trying to piece together the mystery. I have to admit I didn’t predict the final twist even with clues sprinkled throughout the book. Very shocking! The narration added an extra layer of creepiness to this already twisted tale. Thank you Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for my copy.

A great fast paced read (or listen) for those who love thrillers. The author keeps you engaged and guessing!

A dark and twisty tale centering around two friends and a couple of murders. It is well-written; however, the protagonist was a bit-wishy-washy for my taste. All in all, it is a well-written solid suspenseful thriller.

Audio version, excellent job by narrator. I really enjoyed the story and would recommend it.

Having said that, there were some quirky (unrealistic, highly unlikely) components that needed to be overlooked. There were numerous twists and red herrings, some I saw coming but many I did not. I liked the characters and the dual timelines it helped build both the story and the suspense. I was satisfied with the conclusion.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a copy in exchange for a review.

The narration of the title was really good - it was clear who was talking and where we were at all times.

It took a while for the book to find its feet - but once it does it really ramps up the action. Lots of predictable twists, with a few shockers - but all a fun ride. Nothing that really requires a lot of your attention/thought (in fact...some parts of the plot work better if you do switch off slightly).

A fun 3/3.5 stars

Just after graduating from high school Kate saw her best friend Emma murder a man, or at least holding a bloody rock above the body, so she left. Now 10 years later her mother is unwell and needs her help so she returns to her hometown and shortly later Emma is found dead. That's when it all starts.... the guessing and trying to figure out was it an accident or suicide that killed Emma and what about 10 years ago what exactly happened then and what did her little sister see that changed her so dramatically.

During the whole story we get clues and start thinking we know what happened and what is happening, but then we end up unsure of it and second guessing everything and not trusting anyone.

There were twists I had not seen coming and I was definitely entertained from start to end and the narration was good.

Best Friends Forever
by Shannon Hollinger
Narrated by Kate Handford

Rating: 3.6/5 Stars

Best Friends Forever is a story about Kate. Kate saw her BFF murder someone years ago. She left and hasn't been back until now. Emma is dead, and Kate is digging into the past to find out what really happened all those years ago.

The story took me a while to get into. About midway through, it really picks up. There's a lot of action in the second half of the book, and though the ending was a little predictable, there were still some good twists and turns throughout. I think the thing that bothered me the most was that, for the first half of the book, it really dragged. The narration was performed well, and I thought Ms. Handford did a great job.

Thank you so much to #NetGalley, #BookoutureAudio, and the author for the opportunity to listen to and review this ARC!

This one was slightly predictable. Maybe it’s just my pattern recognition, but I wasn’t really surprised about anything. I felt like it had a nice plot, but could have been better.

Best Friends Forever by Shannon Hollinger

Kate and Emma were inseparable best friends since childhood. They did everything together and bonded together. That is, until one fateful night, when Kate witnessed Emma standing over a body holding a huge rock. Kate cannot believe that her best friend killed someone. Lily, Kate's younger sister was also there and has not spoken since that night. Now there is a secret between them and their bond breaks.

The story takes off from there where Kate returns after ten years later, Kate is back in town, Emma has been found dead, and Kate's mother needs help after being injured after a fall. Faced with the past, Kate begins to look back. Her former best friend's death doesn't sit right with her. Neither does that fact that there have been other murders in town.

The book went into a direction I wasn't expecting, and I found it weird that Kate saw her friend do something unthinkable when they were younger. The book is told in dual timelines the past as kids and present day. I was surprised at the end how the story wrapped up nut it felt a bit farfetched a bit.

Narrated by Kate Handford who did a great job with giving voice to the characters each had their own voice. This was three star for me it was just a mediocre read for me. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes thrillers it is still worth a read and others may get more enjoyment than I did. I would still like to read something else from this author in the future.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture, this was my first read from Shannon Hollinger, and it’s a solid read. Kate is back in her hometown to help her mom recover after a fall. She sees her former best friend, who then turns up dead the same day. Kate stopped speaking to her former best friend Emma after witnessing a horrible crime, convinced that her friend was the culprit. But although Emma’s death is deemed accidental, it doesn’t sit right with Kate, and so she does some digging on her own. And that digging leads her to the past where she must confront her own demons and figure out what really happened. There are plenty of twists and a never ending list of suspects. The narrator also did a great job!

Wow….not where I thought it was going and quite frankly, that made the book for me. I was nervous after a little bit of listening that based on the cover and some of the verbiage that this was a YA book. I was sure mistaken and in a very good way! The book turns dark, and I loved it. This was a twist I would have never seen coming and that is hard to find these days!

Wow! I didn’t know what to expect when starting Best Friends Forever by Shannon Hollinger. I’m a big thriller and mystery lover, so this ended up being right up my ally. I would recommend to those who enjoy B.A. Paris, Freida McFadden, or Karin Slaughter type novels.

The twists were solid throughout, and while I did guess one of the big ones about half way, I was still engaged to figure out the many other unknown twists. I could envision this as a good screenplay too.

I’m a big audio book lover. Kate Handford’s narration was enjoyable, and easy to understand at a fast pace (2x). I would agree with other reviewers that the change in POVs may have been easier to digest on paper versus audio. Perhaps, some minor changes in the narration could help delineate the perspective change.

Overall, I would be eager to read additional works by this Author and to listen to other audiobooks by this Narrator.

Thanks to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for an advanced listen to this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts expressed are my personal opinion.
