Princess Fuzzypants here: Jen is stuck. Her first novel was a big hit and she is working on her second one…or at least trying to work on it. Her muse has abandoned her and she struggles each day in the book store owned by her friend and number one fan. Her world explodes when her friend is murdered. Naturally, those closest to her including her husband are the prime suspects but Jen wonders if there is any connection to the contest her friend won that gave her the bookshop in the first place.
When she learns another winner also died she digs deeper into the organization behind the contest and things begin to get dangerous. Really, really, dangerous. She has a knack for writing mysteries but does she have a knack for solving ones. There is a strong chance that she is easily fooled and it could cost her dearly. Even after she almost dies, she still cannot see the truth. I did enjoy the energy and the suspense although I confess I did suspect the villain. It did not detract at all because I was still one the edge of my seat.
Good start to the series and well worth a read. Four purrs and two paws up.
