This is an adorable small town, second-chance romcom that had me rooting hard for Rob and Laura. I haven't read the first book in the Getting Shipped series, but that did not affect my reading experience. This is definitely a quick read/listen and the audiobook narrators did a fantastic job bringing their characters to life. It's a very clean story, so if it's steam you're looking for, this one will not deliver it. A great big thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Laura and Rob were high school sweethearts gone wrong...Rob left Laura to go to MIT and even though they still hangout in the same friend circles back home, they aren't exactly friends. It's years later and Rob runs a popular YouTube channel called Make It Don't Break It and Laura works as a hair dresser at the Dippity Do. As they are helping two of their friends prepare for their wedding, they are thrown together for lots of activities and Rob decides that he wants to win Laura back. Laura does not forgive easily after her dad left her and her mom back in high school and she wants nothing to do with Rob and the rumor mill that comes with him trying to win her back. The small town that they live in is so invested in them getting back together, but also with Rob potentially getting an offer from Discovery and Disney for his creations. Laura of course hears about that through the rumor mill and not from Rob and is scared that he is going to leave her again. Will she get past that and trust her gut with Rob or not?

I loved the first book, Friendshipped, and knew that I would love this one too. I am now a Savannah Scott fan and can't wait to read the rest of the Shipped series. Laura and Rob's sweet love was very PG so if you like spicy books, this might not be the best for you. The small town feel is right up my alley and I loved how Rob was willing to put in the work to win Laura back.

Battleshipped by Savannah Scott is a closed-door second-chance contemporary romance and the second book in the Getting Shipped! series. I listened to the audiobook, which clocks in at nine and a half hours and is narrated by Amy McFadden and Will Damron with an alternating first-person point-of-view.

Laura and Rob dated when they were in high school, but he broke up with her right before going off to college at MIT. Now they're twenty-three and Rob runs a successful science YouTube channel, while Laura is a hairdresser at the local salon.

This could probably be read as a standalone, but we do get some progression to the plot of the couple from the first book in the series, Lexi and Trevor, that was really charming to see.

I feel like the title of this book is a little misleading, since this isn't really enemies-to-lovers. It's more like exes who are civil with each other but mostly avoid each other to friends to lovers. I was a little disappointed there, as enemies-to-lovers is one of my favorite tropes. I was also a little confused to Laura's thought processes at times.

It was great to see more of Aiden's personality shine through here, and apparently the third book in the series focuses on him so I'll have to check out where his plot line goes.

Tropes in this book include: childhood sweethearts, second-chance, small town

CW: parental infidelity

love this cast of characters. This one is Laura and Rob focused! But I love that the other characters are still there and in the story line. Small town life at its finest.

Super sweet romcom that has some laugh out loud moments. No steamy stuff, so if that’s what you are looking for keep on looking.

Narrators are excellent and do such a great job with the back and forth perspectives.

So glad these are being released to audio. Thank you to NetGalley and Savannah Scott for the opportunity to review. Cannot wait for the next installment.

Quick Summary: A second chance until forever romance

My Review: Battleshipped by Savannah Scott was a total hearts, stars, and diamonds romance. I loved it!

What I Appreciated:
- I loved the young love angle.
- The conflict points were believable, which added a richness and depth to the story.
- The one that got away approach set the tone for what was to come between the two main characters, and it did so in a big way.
- Those who stood as obstacles to the second chance love story were good at being not so great.
- The ex trying to win back his true love was goals. (I adored the "scientific formula." That was cuteness.)
- I loved the chemistry that existed between the two main characters. (Although they stuck to kisses, cuddles, parking, and lingering touches, what they shared was beautifully intense.)
- The friendships and relationships that existed within the small community were hilariously familiar. (I could totally relate.)
- The unexpected but very necessary reconciliation that happened between certain characters showed the power of love, growth, and forgiveness.
- The HEA was...ahh. (It was totally worthy of a swoon.)

My Final Say: This book was simply delightful.

4.35⭐

Book 2 in the Getting Shipped series ~ yes a standalone, but Lexi and Trevor are heavily involved in this installment. We see how their life is progressing, so I suggest reading Friendshipped first.

Featuring ~ dual 1st person POV, childhood sweethearts, break~up, second chance, small town, no steamage, parental infidelity

Laura & Rob
Rob broke up with Laura right before he left for college leaving her heartbroken. Flash forward 6 years and Rob is back in town. He realizes he was a dope, but Laura isn't falling for his antics so easily. Girl, make him work for it!

Most characters were delightful, except for Rob's mom who was really awful to Laura and I didn't like it. I liked how the town came together for the salon.

Narrated by Amy McFadden and Will Damron for 9 hours and 29 minutes, easy to follow at 2-2.5x. They did a fine job.

Overall, this was another cute addition to the series. As I said above, Lexi and Trevor are heavily involved and I loved that we got to attend their wedding. I'm looking forward to reading/listening more about Aiden in Townshipped.

I received a advanced copy of Battleshipped audiobook from Dreamscape media. This is a second chance romance where Rob and Laura. They are both from the same small town... but when he left once already, and her trust is already rocky what will she choose when faced with career changing dynamics?! It was a cute story.
recommend.

This was a “sweet” romance with a great cast of characters. Definitely fits as a romcom, as there are so many jokes, funny moments, and great banter. The audiobook is an easy listen, with a male and female reader for the dual points of view. If you are looking for a small town, lovers to enemies to lovers trope, this is a great listen.

Oh my goodness!!!! Rob and Laura are adorable and this book was amazing.

I obtained the audio from Dreamscape Media on NetGalley and I was so excited to review it, because I absolutely adored it.

They used the same narrators as Friendshipped, which was also amazing, so it was a lot like “coming home” to the whole community. I enjoy these specific narrators because of the way they emote. It takes nothing in me to imagine their facial expressions, their excitement, the swoony moments. It’s a great experience. So if you have the opportunity, definitely pick up the audiobook, specifically.

Into the story! Things I loved:

💜 second chance romance… LOVE it.
💜 the super smart science guy with the gorgeous gal, it gives me Genya Safin/David Kostyk energy and I am HERE for it.
💜 their little community. Laura’s friends are so sweet and supportive.
💜 Rob taking care of Laura 🥺 breaking into her house to install a deadbolt 😂
💜 Trevor and Lexi and all of the callbacks to Friendshipped!
💜 it’s closed door! I love that it can feel tense and romantic without the spice.

I’m excited to pick up the rest of the books in this series. 🥰

"Battleshipped" by Savannah Scott is all about second chances. After Rob breaks Laura's heart leaving high school for college, she has a hard time trusting men the same day as finding out her father was leaving her mother. But now that six years have passed can Rob win back Laura's affections and her trust?

The book was a quick read, and the narrators made the story that much more enjoyable with their easy tones and the passion in their story telling. It brought the characters to life in a believable way to where I felt like I could see them in front of me.

If you like small towns, romcoms and well done audiobooks this is a book that you won't want to miss!

**Thanks to Netgalley and Publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review**

Battleshipped is a small-town, second chance romance. While this is book two in the Getting Shipped! series, it can be read as a stand-alone. Many of the characters from the rest of the series are in this book but the author does a good job with explaining who the side characters are without giving too much of their stories away. (I somehow read the series out of order and finished this one last but it didn't affect my understanding of the overall dynamic.) This contemporary romance contains some kissing scenes but nothing spicy.

I knew this book was a second chance romance going into the story but what I didn't expect was the sweet second chance that Laura was going to get to rebuild her relationship with her father. Laura has had such a difficult time with all the men in her life leaving her behind but the author does a lovely job showing her personal growth throughout the storyline. She is shown as a strong independent MC but she also knows when to accept help from others. Rob is such a perfect “book boyfriend”. He’s learned from his mistakes and willing to do whatever it takes to earn back Laura’s trust and affection. I think he may be the most underrated MMC in the Getting Shipped! series.

I listened to this as an audiobook. The narrators, Amy McFadden and Will Damron, are perfectly chosen for this series and their performances bring the whole town of Bordeaux to life.

I’ve absolutely loved this whole series. I can’t wait for book six!

I voluntarily listened to and reviewed an advanced copy of this audiobook. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media!

⭐️Audiobook Rating: 4/5
✍🏼Author: Savannah Scott
📖Genre: Women's Fiction, Romance, Comedy

💭Summary:

Six years ago, Rob broke his high school sweetheart Laura’s heart before he left for college. That same day, she also received some bad family news. After Rob returned to Bordeaux two years ago, Laura has worked hard to build up her walls and avoid her ex Rob. Small towns have a way of reigniting old flings, now Rob is determined to win Laura back- but it won’t be easy!

💭My thoughts:

I really enjoyed Rob and Laura , they were such fun characters and the audio version brought them to life! The narrators were so funny and full of personality, I got hooked during the prologue and finished the same day. The underlying element in this book is learning to forgive, letting go of barriers that you’ve built from being hurt and welcoming love again (after all, second chance romances are the best!) 😉

Laura is a small town hairdresser. Rob, a scientist and YouTube star, is the one that broke her heart. In this second chance romance Laura has to decide if she wants to move forward with Rob or go her own way.

Laura and Rob are loveable. Laura believes that everyone she loves will leave her and Rob recognizes he made a huge mistake in letting her go. Throughout the book we see their ups and downs and the love they feel for each other. Savannah Scott does a great job in developing their characters with humour and tender moments. One can’t help but hope for love to win in the end.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook arc.

Ahhhh this audiobook was too cute! I read and loved the other “shipped” books in this series so I knew I’d love this one, and I was not disappointed! Loved it!

I was fortunate to get a copy of the first book in this series and I fell in love with the characters and the small town setting. Now in the second book we return to the familiar small town I already know and love and the characters I already love. Although the characters are in the first book this is perfectly fine as a stand-alone, but I did have more appreciation for it knowing the characters already. In fact, one of the main characters in this book, Rob, was one of my favorite characters in the first book.

This is my second book by Savannah Scott and I have been pleasantly surprised by how she has taken an overused trope and made it so much more. The first book was about best friends to lovers but it was not done in the cliche way we are used to and the same goes for Battleshipped. This is a second chance romance but it just felt different than the typical way it’s usually done and I loved it.

The story follows Rob and Laura. Rob broke Laura’s heart when he broke up with her before college. Throughout the story he is trying to win her back and the interactions between him and Laura feel so authentic. Laura built up so many walls that Rob keeps trying to knock down. This was an excellent story that I could not wait to see how it ended. I'm ready for the next entry in the series.

In Battleshipped, the second book Savannah Scott’s Getting Shipped! series, I was thrilled to return to the small town of Bordeaux. While Lexi and Trevor from the first book in the series are back, the true stars in this second chance romcom are Laura and Rob. They were high school sweethearts and Laura figured they’d be together forever, but after high school before he heads off to college Rob breaks up Laura. It’s now 6 or so years later. Laura is now a stylist at the Dippity Do salon, and while Rob returned to Bordeaux after college, Laura is certain it’s only a matter of time before to leaves again. While they both still have feelings for each, whether to not they’re willing to admit it, they haven’t gotten back together. I’m a sucker for second chance romances and the story of Rob attempting to win back Laura’s trust and her heart is a really cute. This is such a cute series and I look forward to returning to Bordeaux again. As for the narration, Will Damron is really good and Amy McFadden absolutely shines as always. I’d like to thank Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to an advanced copy of the audio version of Battleshipped.

I was given the honor to listen to “Friendshipped” and I absolutely LOVED it. I knew that this book would be as good as the first. This was not a “slow burn “Book where the feelings dont start until the last chapter. I also love that Rob told told Laura that he wanted to have children with her. Rob fought to rekindle the romance. One of my favorite lines in the story is when Laura said Rob was #definatelyswoony! I’ll have to start using that LOL. I will be recommending this book in bookclub ASAP. Shoutout to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to listen and review this book

This is a review for the audio version of Battleshipped, which you can find on Audible on 12/20/22. While I loved the female narrator, Amy McFadden, I thought the male narrator, Will Damron, wasn’t a good fit for Rob. He just sounded a bit too mature for Rob’s character.

This second chance, slow-burn, held my attention all the way through. I thought Rob was downright swoony and so, so patient. I loved how he came up with a scientific experiment to get Laura back! Laura was a tough nut to crack, but I liked seeing her walls come down and watching her grow as the story progressed, until they finally got their HEA. I liked this and would like to read/listen to more of this author. Definitely recommend.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Laura and Rob were a couple in high school, and she figured they would be together forever. Rob was headed to MIT and Laura would be a hairdresser in their small town. Just before Rob left, he suggested they part and be just friends. Her dad left her mother the same day. Rob loves science and has become a famous YouTube celebrity with pod casts and intriguing science experiments. When he comes back home Laura avoids him at all costs but as they spend time together with friends, Rob is determined to win her back. I really liked this book. Laura and Rob are great characters with so much to offer. Their friends add a lot to their relationship. There are plenty of humorous episodes as the people in their small-town gossip and meddle. The love Rob shows Laura is heartwarming. Really great book!

I am a sucker for second chance romances. Their predictability sets the stage for a light and fun read. Had a long drive and this was a great companion. Narrated by Amy McFadden and Will Damron, the miles flew by.

High School sweethearts, Rob breaks up with Laura when he heads off to college. Six years later he’s back and wants to rekindle their relationship. As expected Laura is not a fan of that idea.

Told in a dual narrative which adds to the storytelling, also the relatable roadblocks that needed to be overcome.
