Join Caillou as he listens to a tale from his Dad about a very brave Knight.

What a fun adventure you’re taken on in this story with a full cast of exciting and interesting characters.

The illustrations are bright and colourful with an almost dream like quality.

This is one that is sure to become a family favourite.

Caillou was my favourite show when I was kid, and I was surprised to see it's been remade with a new look to it. I personally prefer the original illustration style to the new 3D look to it, but it still has the same essence of the characters. The story itself is really sweet, and in typical Caillou fashion, contains many messages for little readers, from dealing unexpected changes in plans, to having fun with your family.

Caillou was my son’s favorite show growing up, so when I saw this book for review I had to check it out.
The illustrations are great, completely bringing the cute story to life. I enjoyed seeing Caillou’s sweet personality, in a new story. Once again the writer brings a great story to life with a meaningful message. I can’t wait to purchase this for my grandchildren. The book is about 20 pages which is the perfect length to keep younger children interested, and still please a little older child. The story itself is heartfelt and sweet, teaching multiple lessons including not to judge a book by its cover, although you could judge this as an enjoyable read.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.

I am 25 and I grew up watching Caillou on PBS Kids, so I was surprised to see he is still popular today. I think I watched Caillou from the age of 4-7 maybe. It was not the CGI style that the illustrations in this book are designed like. People can say what they want about Caillou but I thought this was a perfectly acceptable children's book. It was fun and entertaining. Perhaps more boys would like this than little girls but I am not sure. It was a good adventure.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley with thanks.

I didn't realise that this was a TV show; I was attracted to this because of the title. (I'm a nerd for knights.) This was a lovely wholesome story with an equally wholesome moral to the tale (family can be just as fun and supportive as friends can be.) Youngsters will get a kick out of this as will the older audience. (I'm of the latter.)

My 3 year old LOVES watching Caillou so I knew he would love reading this one. I wasn't surprised when we had to read it over and over again! I definitely recommend this one if you have kiddos, and especially if they are obsessed with the show too!

A little too twee and basic, perhaps, but there's nothing at all objectionable about this story. Based on some animated series I've never heard of, it's about a kid whose best friend can't turn up through illness, so is diverted instead by his father's story, of a knight (looking suspiciously like said kid) and a mission to get sheep back from a local dragon. It's about family and cooperation, don't'cha know. It's naff in things just appearing and disappearing as the story demands, in the way of many a mediocre cartoon, but it's presented quite well and the story isn't that hammered into the reader. Three and a half stars.

This was my first Caillou book in about 15 years. I expected something short, easy to read, and drawings. I definitely got more than I thought I was getting.
In this book Caillou is having a friend over. The friend ends up calling saying they can't make it. This leads to a story of Caillou turning into a knight. Who has to save the town sheep from the big mean dragon.
It isn’t until some sharing, and problem solving. Does Caillou, the King, Queen, and the Princess learn, just because the dragon looks big, mean, and scary. That he may actually just be looking for a friend to play with.
I liked that this story was both short, and colorful. Yet still had some good learning/ teachings in this tell. The computer drawings were truly top of the line. This was a book that was easy for both a mid-day break. Or that extra little bedtime book. Where you feel like your little one needs a little more. But you don’t have a lot left.
If your young one likes princesses and knights, or big scary looking dragons. Then you should snag a copy of “Caillou: The Silver Knight”.

Full disclosure on this book: I don't really get the appeal of Caillou. I also find the 3D art a bit off-putting, but I grew up reading hand drawn books and watching 2D cartoons. The plot of this book is cute enough. It's a story-within-a-story as Caillou's dad tells him about a knight's quest to find missing sheep in a dragon's castle. The knight must rely on the help of others to work together and catapult into the castle. My 5-year old daughter enjoyed this book, and it is appropriate for very young children. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and appreciate the opportunity to read and enjoy this with my kid.

This is a very sweet picture book with a lovely moral message within it too. It helps children to learn how to cope with a change in plans and find the positives within it.

It's engaging and full of adventure and imagination. I really like the illustrations too - they're very appealing to young children.

The only negative is it's pretty word-heavy, so it was difficult to keep my 4-year-old's attention throughout it.

Overall, a lovely story.

Caillou was a favorite of mine and my cousins growing up. I loved the nostalgia that this book brought to me. My mother works as a librarian in an elementary school, so I love reviewing books like this to share the love of reading with her students, and I know this will be one her kids love.

Caillou: The Silver Knight is part of a series that is aimed at 3–4-year-olds. Adapted from the series written by Robin Bright, Caillou: The Silver Knight tells the story of little Caillou who through a story about a dragon, learns the importance of family. In this tale we witness Caillou experience disappointment when he is unable to play with a sick friend. This sees him enjoying some intimate time with his dad instead.

Before I delve into the story, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to NetGalley for providing a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Ok, back to the book. Next up, I want to highlight the wonderful illustrations. They present as wonderful, vibrant, CGI images that are extremely inviting and aesthetically pleasing to adults. I am sure children will adore them. Lauren Adams, Rebecca Galloway, Michelle McIver, and Tony Mitchell have really brought the story to life with the illustrations.

The story is centered around a king who has a very cold head and requires the queen to knit him a hat. There is just one problem. The kingdom is out of wool because a dragon has stolen all the sheep. There is nothing for it, the king and queen enlist the help from their son, the Silver Knight to return the captured sheep. Like Caillou, the Silver Knight is missing someone who would usually be his companion on such adventures. Fortunately, his family comes to cheer on his adventure just as he finds himself stumped on how to succeed at the mission on his own.

The moral of the story taught Caillou not to depend on one person and to have an openness towards his family. He had failed to notice his sister’s attention. He also realized just how resourceful and loving his sister could be.

This is a beautiful story that can be told to the target audience repeatedly as either a bedtime story or a reminder about valuing others. The language was just right, the picture supported the story and were engaging, and there was the right amount of text per page and for the book in its entirety. It deserves a well-earned 5 out of 5 stars.

Fun new adventure with a childhood favorite. Caillou Loves using his imagination. In this adventure he is pretending to be a brave knight. He also gets the family involved.
You will live to share this story with your little ones. I love the new illustrations and new look for Caillou.

My 3 yo absolutely loves the show so when I told her I had a surprise book for her, she was over the moon when she heard it was Caillou. The story shows good imagination and it portrayed an important message that my child is beginning to understand.
I’ve just had to read for the second night in a row…I might need to update this to see how many nights this will go on for.

Thank you netgalley for the e-ARC!
I read this with my 2 and 3 year old who were more interested in the pictures than the actual story but it is a sweet story about a boy learning to overcome his disappointment of not having his friend to play with by learning that his family is there and can play with him instead.

Sweet little story about the knight- boy called Caillou, defeating a dragon with a help from his family. My little boy enjoyed reading it with me.
