This book is filled woth fun illustrations with a colour schematic throughout making the book perfe t for children. I think the writing style could be tailored more towards children. I found it used big words that the age group this is designed for are likely not to know such as "positive", "pleasure", "comforted". Why not use more simple words just as des riding joy and happy, or saying you might need a hug or a blankey. Kids know what it is to be comforted. They generally do not know the word.
This children's book is written in a style for adults not children and children will likely find it hard to engage. Especially hard to read if they chose to read it by themselves.
I think this is a good choice for parents and caregivers looking to help nursery, preschool and infant school aged children learn about emotions. However, I do think the book itself is failing at the most simple thing - at being a children's book.
A quick, brief, to-the-point, matter-of-fact book with amazing fluffy characters jumping off the page. A great book to introduce the names of feelings, and what feelings are to younger kids.
Anything that helps you talk about feelings with pre-schoolers is a sure winner! This colorful, engaging, entertainingly designed book will definitely facilitate that conversation.
I grabbed this book when I was working as a Children's librarian, and even though I no longer am in that line of work I still enjoyed this super short book on feelings. The character art was just adorable and the whole concept reminded me of the emotions from inside out, which is one of my favorite movies. As an adult who struggles with my emotions, reading this short little book made me smile.
If you have little ones, I definitely recommend adding this one to your library.
Thank you Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Have a little human with big emotions?? This book is perfect for explaining to young ones some of the emotions they experience as well as giving some suggestions for coping with their emotions. It’s a great way to get children talking about their emotions so they know what to do when the emotion arises.
The Sunny Bunnies are here to help your little one understand their feelings through description, colours and asking them questions.
The book cleverly links emotions to colours to allow your child to explain their feelings easier. I found the question at the end of each page to be a fantastic touch as it encouraged conversation and interaction. There were also 4 brilliant activities at the end of the book to help with regulating emotions.
The characters are colourful and engaging which is what you want to keep your little one interested.
The illustrations in this book are captivating. Children would be drawn to the bright and fun colors of each character. Each character is showing an emotion that teaches kids about that emotion. If a child is not an advanced reader, I suggest a parent read it with that child. The writing seems to be a bit advanced for new readers.
Love Always, Catherine
My class really enjoyed this book. It’s very colourful and ideal to help children identify different feelings and emotions.
A wonderful children's book on feelings, one I will purchase for the grandchildren. This book has fun characters and is very engaging for children. An easy children's book that can be used to teach kids about their feelings and how to be respectful of the feelings of others.
Sunny Bunnies: My Book of Feelings is a really good introductiory book for youngsters to learn about their feelings. It gave a swift overview of the main ones and applied a color to each of them, which I think caregivers would commonly agree with e.g., green represents calm, red represents anger, and blue is sadness.
I would have like to have seen a range of terminology. Because the descriptions of each emotion were so short, words like (un)pleasant and positive really stood out, whereas I thought the author could have led with different terms from one emotion to the next to really point out the difference between each one. That said, there was the inclusion of good examples of when each emotion might be felt, accompanied by the illustrations of the Sunny Bunnies depicting these feelings in their facial expressions and gestures.
This is a good book to bring out regularly to read with children as they are learning how to express, deal with, and explore their emotions. As an added bonus, there are four exercises at the back to assist with this.
This was a fun book to read with my daughter but to also utilize in my session with children's therapy clients. I would recommend this to parents and/or people who work with young kids.
In this delightful children's book, young readers become familiar with their favorite Sunny Bunny characters and various emotions. It is filled with colorful characters and charming lessons about managing emotions with kindness, empathy, and the joy of self-discovery. Sunny Bunnies: My Book of Feelings is an excellent read for parents as well as special education teachers at the elementary level. I highly recommend this book and will be purchasing it for my classrooms. Thank you NetGalley for being able to review this book!
This is a cute book about emotions for children and would especially be a great fit for kids that like the Sunny Bunnies. I read this with my daughter who enjoys the Sunny Bunnies characters and she enjoyed it. The addition of the questions in the book helped us to have a good conversation about her emotions and how to deal with them. I especially appreciated the examples of what each emotion feels like and what might cause it as well as the inclusion of unique coping techniques for each emotion. As my daughter is currently learning how to manager her strong emotions I appreciated how the book helped her introspect about what makes her feel certain emotions and we will try the coping techniques in the book over the next couple weeks to see how they work. This is a good book for discussing all emotions for kids.
I received this book for free in exchange for my honest feedback.
"Sunny Bunnies: My Book of Feelings," authored by Carine Laforest and illustrated by Animation Cafe, is a delightful primer on emotional literacy for children. The book employs the charm of the Sunny Bunnies to navigate through the kaleidoscope of human emotions. With each page dedicated to a different feeling, young readers are invited to explore and identify what they may be experiencing. This book is thoughtfully constructed, featuring a colour-coded guide to emotions and interactive exercises, making it an ideal resource for parents and educators to foster emotional intelligence in little ones. Bright illustrations captivate, ensuring engagement, while the text invites introspection and conversation, making it a great tool for nurturing young minds.
A nice book that can help kids identify their feelings and what that emotions means. This book also includes steps to take to change the way you are feeling which can be very helpful for kids.
An excellent educational children’s book that covers topics of different emotions, how to recognize them, where they may come from and why.
My little one enjoyed this book!
I loved this book, it gave me everything I wanted as a reader and more. I am a sucker for a cute cover and it kept my kids interested.
Exceptional narrative and captivating illustrations! Incredibly beneficial – I appreciate the incorporation of distinct colors for each emotion. The storyline beautifully captures the essence of emotions and their tactile sensations, prompting readers to reflect on when they experience each specific emotion. The inclusion of four practical breathing exercises at the conclusion adds immense value – a must-try with your young reader. A truly delightful story that I wholeheartedly recommend. This review reflects my genuine thoughts on this Advance Reader Copy (ARC). Highly recommended.
This one is such a great book for kiddos navigating their feelings. My 3 year old is still learning how to appropriately express his, especially when he is angry or frustrated. I enjoyed reading this one to him and he seemed to enjoy the story as well!
This is a short, colorful introduction to feelings. Each spread briefly explains a feeling, shows a picture of one of the bunnies experiencing that feeling, then asks the reader when they've felt that way. Appropriate for ages 3-7, as the descriptions are pretty simple, but there are exercises at the end that older children could benefit from. The exercises are essentially breathing and other types of mindfulness.
Thank you NetGalley for an advance ebook in exchange for my honest review.
