Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review, I began reading this book not realising it was the third in a series but ultimately I don’t think it mattered as this book can be enjoyed as a standalone, in my opinion. I really enjoyed the story and it was completely different to my usual type of books. I particularly loved the relationship development between Nicholas and Petra and the chemistry between them was so well written. A fascinating dark romance story that I would definitely recommend. 4 stars

Tempt me Deadly, is a fast paced fantasy romance told in 3rd person perspective.

Petra and Nicholas, a cursed ‘human’ who can’t touch anyone unless she wants to turn them into a monster, and Nicholas her vampire rescuer.

With her curse it was a given that it would be more of a slow burn, tension read. Which Kira James did really well. And then when they ‘could touch’ those scenes were just what we needed after the build up.

It can be read as a standalone and as someone who hadn’t read book 1 or 2 it is possible and I did understand everything BUT I have now downloaded the 1st and 2nd book to find out what I had missed, as I did feel a few times that the world building would make more sense right from the start.

With a well developed cast of characters, this is a slow burn and a gradual mounting of tension leading to some, perhaps, surprising revelations. A thoroughly engaging read.

I didn't realize this was the 3rd in the series when I grabbed it, so the beginning was kind of hard to follow. I recommend starting from the beginning of the series.
Other than that, it was a decent vamp/non vamp forbidden love style story, with a spy vs spy and double agent feel.
I'll give 4 stars, rounding up from 3.5

i really liked this book! i liked the pacing of this book and it worked really well for this book. i loved the characters a lot and i really enjoyed how this book developed! my only issue is how rushed the ending felt. it seemed like everything happened at once and just seemed thrown in. with the expectation of that, i enjoyed this book and would 100% recommend!

Firstly, I’d like to say how much I adore this cover! It’s so lovely and I couldn’t stop staring at it while reading the book.

Secondly—this book! I was nervous because this has been an anticipated read of mine but I had no reason to be. I enjoyed the main characters and their relationships. James does such a beautiful job curating these endearing and wonderful characters with seemingly real personalities and ambitions. I absolutely busted out freaked out so many times! This book was so dark, twisty and romantic!

Petra, cursed since birth, and Nick a Vampire scientist. I loved the idea of a curse and science however it felt that there could have been more to that.

What I liked:
> On 1 night every decade or so Petra can actually touch anyone without inflicting the curse on them. It simply happened on one of the nights that she was running away with Nick. The scenes were not rushed and for me it was done perfectly given that it was her one night to do that.
> The regret and guilt of Nick was very sincere, sure a woman drove him to reach out the first time but it was because he finally understood what betrayal felt like

What I didn’t like:
> The end felt rushed, a lot happened then bam she’s free of the curse. I guess I was looking for more tension during the climax.
> This can be read as a stand alone but know that there is in fact an ongoing bigger storyline. I really had to understand the world they were in before I got into the story.

Being the first book which I have read in the series, I found that I was lost with the characters and didn't have any of the back story. Despite this I enjoyed the book as it was and think that if I re-read this in the series order I would appreciate the character development and interactions. I will be looking to read the full series as it has intrigued me to want to start from the beginning

Another fast paced urban fantasy romance from Kira James with a side of steam 💨

I was so excited when I saw the ARC for this was available - I loved Petra’s character in book 2 and her curse of not being able to touch anyone lest she turn them into a bloodthirsty monster made for a really cool conflict.

Especially when you throw in romance! It was so fun to watch Nicholas & Petra flirt and tease each other. It kept ramping up the tension until the special moon rose and then for 12 hours they could indulge their passions.

However, and this is a spoiler but it really bothered me so I’m going to mention it, I really don’t understand why her brother being in love with her was part of the story?! It added nothing to the book and only made me uncomfortable at the end when it was revealed. He could’ve just been her protective older brother and his actions would have largely been the same. Then he dies soon after and I really just felt like what was the point??

It’s really unfortunate because aside from that, I really enjoyed this book! There was action, drama, betrayals, and a little bit of steam. The romance was *so* satisfying. It just didn’t need that thrown in at the end.

TEMPT ME DEADLY is a story of betrayal and madness, power and control, acceptance and love. The premise is emotional and captivating; the romance is heart breaking; the characters are powerful, strong and determined.

I really enjoyed this book alot was definitely a good read and will recommend to others as well I'll also be purchasing it

This was Nicholas and Petra’s story and just as yummy as the rest of them. I am hoping a story is coming with Serge. Lots of action and hot romance. The characters from previous books are present.You don’t want to miss it!

Out of the Dark Alliance series, this was probably one of my favorites or maybe my favorite out of all of them. I liked the characters and their chemistry as well as the mystery. Like the other books, this one wasn't life changing or mind altering, but it fulfills that same paranormal romance itch that the readers have. It was enjoyable and I would recommend it to fans of the other books in the series.

From the moment I started reading, I was drawn into the world of Nicholas and Petra.
The characters are well-developed and the story is fast-paced and exciting.
And plot is full of exciting things and the writing style is captivating and very engaging.
I found myself eagerly turning the pages to find out what happened next.
I loved the way the story unfolded.
I have devored the first two in the set and I'm so looking forward to more!

Petra and Nicholas are just perfect- have liked Petra’s character from the first novel so was good to see her get her own story. Very much looking forward to the next instalment!

What a fantastic world Kira has woven, the ups and downs, twists and turns had me at the edge constantly and had me nibbling on my lips nervously on what was going to happen next!
I cannot wait to read the next book in the series to know what serbius and Petras's story is and well do I really have to say anything about Nicholas except for the fact that the man can get it?
