I had access to this as an ARC through Netgally. I loved it! Christina Lauren's books are great. The main character was entertaining and I loved that they played with so many romance love interest tropes.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC–this book broke me out of a reading slump!

Christina and Lauren are seriously at the top of their game and one of the strongest and most enjoyable writers of this genre. This book ticked a lot of boxes for me. Loved the concept and the characters. Their work always feels like it's about real humans with real problems and always seem to come at the perfect time as I'm thinking about similar issues!

I will say that, unfortunately, I found the plot a little frustrating here. The set-up worked, but the engine of the novel as a whole didn't engross me as some of their other books have done. But overall, a truly enjoyable read.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC! I was very excited to read this because 1, I love the authors, and 2, we were getting a sequel to “ The Soulmate Equation. “ This did not disappoint. I absolutely loved it. Fizzy and Connor’s love story felt like a warm blanket. All of that chemistry and tension! I definitely think the first book should be read first, but it’s not 100% necessary.

I’m so excited this was my second advanced Christina Lauren book (after Something Wilder last year, which I didn’t love or hate). This time around, I’m so happy to say The True Love Experiment was so fun from top to bottom and I loved reading it, so much so that I took it slowly to savor it.

The True Love Experiment picks up from The Soulmate Equation with Fizzy as the heroine here. Fizzy is a romance writer, which makes her conversations about the genre extra fun for readers. When she’s asked to star on a dating show, things get complicated as she grows closer to her producer.

I loved the story here and the characters. For the first time in a long time (ever?), I enjoyed the “things fall apart” section of the story because it felt genuinely emotional and was paced differently than is typical of romance. The only fault of this was that I felt like Connor’s Britishness was forced and felt very written by Americans.

So glad for this one to go out into the world!

Reading this book felt like watching my best friend fall in love. I loved all of the nods to the genre and seeing a heroine be completely unapologetic about her healthy sex life and past relationships. I would love to watch every season of Fizzy and Connor’s story.

Thank you, NetGalley for early access to this fantastic book!

This book is truly a love letter to romance readers and has quickly become one of my favorite books.

I can not wait to buy a physical copy this spring!

This book was clever and wee-written, but very predictable. That’s not a bad thing for a romcom though. You 2ant them to end up happy at the end.

Thank you to @netgalley and @gallerybooks book this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Guys! Fizzy got her book!!! To say I inhaled this book is a vast understatement! Less than two days, staying up way too late late both nights to get all of this in!

While the authors claim they never intended to create a whole story around Fizzy, I'm sure, like me, after reading The Soulmate Equation you wanted more fron Fizzy. Christina and Lauren say that it was the fan response that drove this book.

Felicity, or Fizzy to all who know her, is a successful romance novelist with a severe case of writers' block and a completely dried up love life. In The Soulmate Equation we saw Fizzy trying out various DNA matched dates, only to find out she was the "other woman" without her knowledge.

Burned out on love, Fizzy is presented with the idea of appearing on a dating show unique to her -- a show that documentary filmmaker, Connor, needs to be successful to save his career and stay living near his 10 year old daughter. I'm sure you can see where this is going...Sparks fly between Fizzy and Connor, but they both need the show to be a success and being together would throw that all into jeopardy....

The True Love Experiement is fun and funny, full of spice and heart. It might possibly be my new favorite Christina Lauren book and I really though Love and Other Words had claimed that title. For a book they really didn't intend to write, they hit this one out of the ballpark.

I have read almost all of Christina Lauren’s books, and I have to say, this may be my favorite yet. The banter between Fizzy and Connor is hilarious and adorable, and the ending is just *chef’s kiss.*

This is the sequel to “The Soulmate Equation,” and I definitely recommend reading that first to understand the technology the reality show is based upon (plus, the book is wonderful).

I didn't even realize the amazing duo that makes up Christina Lauren were writing Fizzy's story! After the wildly fantastic "Soulmate Equation", I guess all of their readers fell in love with Fizzy as much as I did. Her and Connor had beautiful, scorching chemistry, and I loved the reality TV angle. I would love to read about Natalia and her hot boyfriend next (*hint hint*)!

I love Christina Lauren novels and The True Love Experiment did not disappoint! I loved The Soulmate Equation and was so glad to hear that Fizzy was getting her own story. This book was so fun. I loved Connor and Fizzy's story. Connor had a great backstory. I also really enjoyed seeing more of River and Jess. Overall, this has been one of my favorite Christina Lauren books!

The True Love Experiment is like reading a glass of champagne. It has all of the elements that Christina Lauren writes so well: exuberant love, sexual tension, joyful anticipation and a happy ending!

My thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the e-ARC. I might have exploded if I didn't get my eyeballs on this.

If you've read The Soulmate Equation, then you are quite possibly one of the people who badgered the authors for Fizzy's story. I don't want to take away anyone's joy, so rather than a recap or careful analysis, what I'll say is this book lives up to Fizzy's exuberance and Conner is a hero worthy of her.

The True Love Experiment is a most read if you like Rom Coms. I am a huge fan of Christina Lauren and couldn’t wait for their newest book. It is a sequel to the Soulmate Equation but can be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed every second of this book and had to remind myself to stop reading so I could savor it a bit longer.
The main character Fizzy is a romance author who owns her sexuality. She is full of life and extremely funny but has lost her spark. She reluctantly agrees to be in on a reality dating show produced by Conner who usually produces nature documentaries.
The chemistry between these two is amazing and I loved every moment of it. 5 stars.
I want to thank NetGalley and Christina Lauren for allowing me an advanced copy for my honest review.

This may be my new favorite Christina Lauren book ever. Fizzy is the most incredible character and leading lady that I have read about in forever. As a romance, writer, herself, she hasn’t found her happy ending although she’s had many a happy ending if you get my drift. So when TV producer approaches her about a dating show, she’s a little skeptical that it would actually work out. That TV producer, however, turns out to be way more than she bargained for.

I laughed out loud, snorted, a little hot and bothered at times and got teary. All hallmarks of my first 5 star read of 2023!

I really liked The Soulmate Equation, so I was very much looking forward to this sequel, and boy did it exceed my expectations. I think this is one of Christina Lauren’s best books in some time. Fizzy is such a fun, engaging character who just immediately captures your heart, and the romance is passionate and full of humor and absolutely swoon-y. The reality show and behind-the-scene romance aspects reminded me of the book The Charm Offensive and an ABC Family movie called I Want to Marry Ryan Banks, both of which Ioved so that’s a big thumbs up for The True Love Experiment.

I love Christina Lauren books and loved Soul Equation from the beginning. It took me a little while to get into this book, but once I got into it I couldn’t put it down. I loved the Fizzy and Connor relationship. 4 stars for language. I can always do without bad language in books

The Soulmate Equation was one of my favorite romances of 2021, and Fizzy, the irreverent, sex-positive, romance author BFF of the lead in that book was one of my favorite side characters of all time. So when it was announced that Fizzy would get her own book, I literally could not have been more excited. And when I heard it both incorporated the dating app tech from the first book and had Fizzy starring in her own reality dating show?? CUE THE HYPERVENTILATION.

In The True Love Experiment, after giving a graduation address on the power of romance, Fizzy becomes disillusioned with love herself. She takes a break from dating, failing to get butterflies for anyone she meets and suffering from terrible writer's block. But when television producer Connor approaches her to star in a new reality dating show, she takes a chance and says yes--with a few conditions. One of them being that Connor helps her find her joy again. And in the process, Fizzy and Connor begin to fall for each other, but there's the oh-so-small-hurdle that she must go on television and date eight other men publicly. And her contract specifies that she can't be with anyone else during filming.

I absolutely adored this book. It had everything I could possibly want in a romance novel: a supremely likable, bad@$$, accomplished, fun heroine; a charming British single dad television producer; a reality dating show a la The Bachelorette; a big hurdle that wasn't based on miscommunication; and a plot that moves at a nice clip. Seriously, it was amazing. If I had to change one thing and be super nitpicky--I know that Christina Lauren have been moving away from their steamier earlier works and into more mainstream, but Fizzy is such an irreverent, sex-positive heroine (who is a steamy romance novelist herself) that I perhaps expected a bit less tame or truncated intimate scenes. If there was ever a character to bring back the heat for, it would be Fizzy! But the plot and the characters were so *chef's kiss* it's a minor thing in the grand scheme of things, and this book is still an A+ in, well, my book.

Thanks to Gallery for my eARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

5 stars - 10/10
