The True Love Experiment is a love letter to all romance readers. It's light, funny, and just a breath of fresh air. Fizzy is a romance writer who is approached to go on a dating reality show based off of the popular DNA matchmaking formula. She agrees as long as the producer adheres to her (outlandish and hilarious) demands. Much to her surprise - he does and she is set to be the next reality dating star. The only problem is... Fizzy may prefer the producer over any of the contestants. I'll be honest and say that at first, I didn't love Fizzy. She was a little too much for me - but she definitely grew on me throughout the book. Now, Conner? I was sold from the get-go. ;-) Once I let go of the preconceived notions I had going into the book, it really did change my perspective. It is FUN - and I simply took it at face value and ENJOYED it!
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The True Love Experiment is a follow up novel to the Soulmate Equation. This book focuses on Fizzy who was the best friend of the main character Jess in the Soulmate Equation. Fizzy is a romance novelist who has lost her zest for dating and writing. Connor Prince is a documentary filmmaker who is being forced to create a reality television show. Who better to be the romantic lead of his reality show than the queen of romance? The two get to know each other as they create the show and find themselves unexpectedly drawn to each other. In order for the show to be successful Connor has to help Fizzy find her perfect mate but what if he is her perfect mate? Maybe they are a Gold match or even better! This is a fun romp that will keep you engaged!

I really liked this book, even though I could see the ending coming from a mile away. I liked how Fizzy played with the romance tropes when picking men for her show and I really loved the chemistry between Conner and Fizzy

This is JUST AS GOOD (if not a little bit better) than the first book! I love all the craziness that is Fizzy and they both draw me in soooo much. Christina & Lauren's writing is BOMB and I will forever love them and read EVERYTHING they ever publish!

The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren is my first read of 2023 and it was an absolute JOY! A big thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved the premise of this novel: romance novelist (stuck in a rut with writing as well as romance…. same girl) meets a documentary filmmaker. At the start of the novel, Connor offers Fizzy the lead in a reality show about finding love. As someone who loves romance novels and The Bachelor/The Bachelorette, this novel was right up my alley! Confession: I was worried at first because I’ve read some books with a reality show concept, and they were okay…

A sequel to The Soulmate Equation, readers get more Jess + River + Juno, Jess + Fizzy friendship, AND have another fun opportunity to fall in love with the protagonist, Fizzy! After reading this, I must go back and re-read The Soulmate Equation. But also…MR. CONNOR PRINCE!! What a sweet romantic lead and adorable father. I’ve read a lot of romance, but it’s been a long time since I’ve read something that made me smile so much throughout. The flirting and romance between Fizzy + Connor = million fire emojis but overall, I loved their silly banter and friendship.

The authors did an incredible job with the reality show concept (with fun and innovative twists!) and creating the wonderful ensemble cast of crew members and contestants. Stevie and Juno were an absolute delight throughout. Clearly, everyone and everything in this book was a delight! Nothing was too cliché or cheesy and you’ll find yourself rooting for every character (yay character growth!!!), and left feeling pure happiness at the end. This is a novel you NEED to pick up ASAP and very very thankful for the digital ARC!

Ok, so I’m extremely late to the party on Christina Lauren, as this is my first title by the duo. I plan on remedying that soon!! I loved this book! I loved the snark, and the banter and of course the romance! I am definitely going to enjoy reading the backlist now! 5 stars!!

Thoughts:
First of all, I squealed when I saw that I received an ARC for this one. I LOVE Christina Lauren, and loved the Soulmate Equation.
This one did not disappoint. Dare I say its one of my top three favorites of hers? I LOVED both man characters and was rooting for them through the whole book. The banter between the characters is so great, as well as the spice. You need to pre-order this now! You will not regret it.

Oh. My. Gosh! These ladies sure know how to write a rom com. I loved The Soulmate Equation so much and was so happy to be able to read Fizzy's story! I was obsessed with the relationship between Fizzy and Connor. You could tell from the very beginning the chemistry they had. And the ending was my absolute favorite! This one has jumped to my favorite Christina Lauren book and I will be recommending it to every single one of my friends!

As always, a fast and enjoyable read from Christina Lauren. Fizzy and Connor had amazing chemistry and the reality show setting was entertaining. Thank you netgalley for the advance ecopy.

Love this book actually. There is 3 sex scenes and then also lots of sexual innuendos and jokes. I was pleasantly surprised by how they handled the ending. I through there was going to be a third act break up and there kind of was but it was not for that long and more so because the main love interest Connor was getting ready to do his grand gesture. And boy was his grand gesture toward the end really something, I guess it had to have been because they were producing a tv show together. The show is similar to the bachelor, but they choose a romance author as the main love interest and main character Felicity (fizzy). I loved fizzy and her families relationship. I love how her mom told her she was perfect just as she was, even though Fizzy had built up in her mind she was a disappointment to her mom. I loved connors relationship with his daughter and Natalia. Really good writing and banter. 4 stars solid!

The True Love Equation is just one of those books. You either read it slowly and savor it like you never want it to be over or you finish it in one sitting. I could have done either, but this sweet story I savored over many days. The characters were real and well-portrayed. In the different scenes, it felt like I could’ve been there with the detail and I could’ve just been one of their friends. I agree, The True Love Equation is probably the best book yet from Christina Lauren.

It's hard for me to fairly review a Christina Lauren book because I just love everything they write. This one was no exception. It's a sequel to The Soulmate Equation but certainly stands alone (although I loved how much we got to see Jess and River!). The premise is clever and entertaining, and the chemistry between Fizzy and Connor was perfection. The resolution had me cheering for everyone involved. I'd love more from this universe!

Thanks to Gallery Books for an advanced copy of The True Love Experiment. This might be the best CLo yet!

Fizzy was the best friend in The Soulmate Equation and you know a book about a romance writer looking for romance herself is going to be fun. I love that the dedication page says "This is a blatant love letter to our genre. There will be romance in these pages"

I loved the premise with the reality dating show all of the men as romance tropes. You knew where this book is going with the forbidden love aspect but I really liked that there wasn't a big love triangle. Fizzy is the heroine we need and Connor was just so lovely.

The witty banter and flirting was top notch and I just can't say how much I love this book.

PRE ORDER THIS NOW!! It comes out May 16th.

I fell in love with Fizzy in The Soulmate Equation, and I am so thankful authors Christina Lauren gave us more in The True Love Experiment. When Fizzy finds herself in the midst of writer's block since her last relationship ended in a romantic fiasco, she agrees to star in a new reality tv dating show, but she has a few demands. Executive producer, Connor Prince III, knows there is something special in Fizzy, so he manages to follow all her demands down to the last detail. The result is a show tailor-made to help Fizzy find her true love.

But what happens when Fizzy doesn't want to find her true love from the contestants on the show? And how does Conner deal with his growing feelings all while watching the contestants flirt mercilessly with Fizzy?

Using their trademark wit, humor, and steamy scenes, Christina Lauren craft the perfect tribute to romance and love. I wish I could read this again for the first time!

The True Love Experiment is the 30th!!! book for writing duo Christina Lauren & definitely some of their best work yet.
In this follow up to The Soulmate Equation we get to revisit Jess, Juno, and River, and also get to delve deeper into the life of romance author and bff extraordinaire, Felicity "Fizzy" Chen.

Fizzy is happy and content with her life but has found herself in slump. Her love life & professional life are both at a bit of a stalemate, she isn't interested in the random spicy hookups she once used to live for, and her writers block has her dodging her publisher to buy time before her next deadline. That is until Connor Prince enters her life. Connor is a single dad to daughter Stevie, an update and coming television producer, and just so happens to be tall, extremely good looking...oh and he has a sexy British accent. Connor is producing a new reality dating show and believes he has found his star in Fizzy Chen. The pep in her step is back, her fizzled spark has been reignited, she finds herself smiling for no reason, and the show hasn't even started yet! Will Fizzy go on the show and find love...or has love already found her?

This book was fun! Witty banter, off the charts chemistry, a lovable cast of characters, and plenty of pop culture references. A must read for CLo fans and anyone who loves a romcom. Thank you to Gallery Books & NetGalley for an ARC with my promise of an honest review. Publishing 5/16/23
4.5 stars.

BRILLANT. Brilliant. Brilliant. The writing duo Christina Lauren has written a masterclass on how to write romance with The True Love Experiment. The True Love Experiment is spectacular for so many reasons. They give us everything a book in this genre should be and more.

First, to get it out of the way the book does stand by itself you wouldn't have to read The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren. The female protagonist Fizzy is in TSE and River and Jess but if you have you will have a sweet surprise when you start reading and notice that Fizzy has her time in the sun also. And Fizzy's story is all we would hoped for and then some.

This book has humor through out and it had me actually laughing out loud. Fizzy is funny. This is rom com at it's best. The book starts with Fizzy giving a commencement address and River betting against her keeping the commencement address on track, she nailed it, but during giving the commencement address so feels a punch to her gut that she hasn't lived her best life and she loses her mojo and stops being able to write. Sadly, this affects her across the board and the story takes place a year later after the commencement address and things have still stalled for Frizzy.

This book pokes fun at romance genre tropes in an immensely entertaining way. I've made it clear how much I love this writing duo, I've read everything they have wrote and this story I beleive is their best yet! It's probably going to be up for a GoodReads award in the genre it's that good. When Conner is introduced the tall, British male protagonist with the deep voice, responsible, solid in many ways, a quiet hero to take our fun loving, spirited, independent, feitsty heroine to her knees declaring her love for the hunk of a man then the fire starts crackling. Connor is a devoted father giving up where he could work because he is not wanting to leave the San Diego area where his ten year old daughter lives with his ex. He is a DILF for Fizzy and the banter, laughs and sweet moments they share will actually have you going from laughing to tearing up.

Their relationship is so endearing that it leads to one of the best last chapters of a book I have ever read in my life. So much great stuff is packed in this book, how to parent well with your ex, how complex real relationships are and how to sacrifice from Connor when you put real growth to the test. He'll be an unforgettable hero in that he feels like an everyday man in the beginning but becomes such a gem that you feel all his pain, and glory. I ADORED this book. I'll of course be forever fans of this writing duo. They delivered an outstanding love story with such humor, sophistication and feeling so modern and current and taking something making it feel so fresh but still every day that you fall in love with their writing and this story.

You can't put it down, you just want to keep reading. The pacing is perfect, the arc, the premise, the situations, the whole story keeps the reader engaged. The writing duo takes two reluctant people with more in common then they realize to best friends who deeply care about one another to heartache. Two people who didn't feel lonely but then when they met realized how much their lives were missing makes for such a great story when you have two people who you feel like you can actually be rooting for to be together with such valid reasons to be apart. It's genius to take a not new premise and make it this captivating. Connor will be branded in the hearts of many after reading this love story. I visualized this as a rom com movie while reading.

I noticed on page 230 Jess is stated as having tea but then on the same page it says she lifts her coffee to her lips. Other than that this story is perfection. The best of the best in this genre, an absolute gem of an escape novel, with a great premise, to bring all the feels and the joy. Their absolute best writing yet!

I would love to thank NetGalley and the publisher Simon & Schuster for the opportunity to read and review this titanium of a book. It is so good I want to turn around and read it again. That is rare.

I have to admit that I was not a huge fan of Christina Lauren’s most recent books (Something Wilder and The Soulmate Equation). The fun, quick banter between the two romantic leads was missing; I wasn’t getting what I expected from a CL read. The True Love Experiment, however, was a return to what they do best. Fizzy was a great romantic lead and Conner was her perfect match. I loved this book and flew through it. Highly recommend if you enjoy CL and/or funny and light rom-com books!

It's no secret whatsoever that I love CLo's writing (and also love them as people), but God, The True Love Experiment was on a whole other fucking level. Fizzy was even more delightful as a main character, and Connor was the truest of romance novel daddies. The TV show concept was adorable, and I love me some precocious children. But above all, I adore how this book was a giant send-up to romance readers everywhere. What an absolutely delightful and fitting tribute from two icons of the genre we all know and love.

Anyway, if y'all need me, I'm currently trapped in a glass case of emotion with no means of escape.
