So far, I've enjoyed all of the books from this series that I've reviewed.

This book opens with the protagonist telling the reader about something she has done. A simple declaration, but an effective way to start a story.

I like this character, and I like the way she interacts with the other characters. I like the way she speaks to the reader and tells them about herself. When you become fond of a character while reading, you feel as though you get to know the character, and that's a big part of what I enjoy about this series. I'm also going to review the fourth book, so I'm keen to know what happens next for Lucy Kendall.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a free copy to review.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any more twisted and shocking, Stacy Green does it again. This time, she’s after Mary Weston, who featured prominently in book 1. The twists and turns in this series are nonstop and keep me on the edge of my seat. Lucy is smart, savvy, and seeks justice in her own way. This series is fantastic and I can’t get enough! Highly recommended but start at book 1. This book isn’t for the squeamish.

Awesome continuation to the series, couldn’t put it down! I love a good crime investigation and this book held up to the expectations of the series. Might be my favorite one so far.

The Lucy Kendall series are binge worthy. I found myself unable to put them down and wanted to read any and all books in this series. In this book, The Girl in the Cabin, a 16 year old girl is found deceased in a hunting cabin, and Lucy is drawn into the case. The clues left at the cabin signify that Mary Weston may once again be on her murderous spree. Not only are the lives of young girls in peril, but also, the life of one of Lucy’s closest friends, Chris. Chris is intimately familiar with Mary Weston, as she is his estranged mother. Lucy is distraught and laser focused on finding Mary Weston and ending her murdering days, but she also needs to save Chris. I enjoyed the further development of Chris’ character and learning more about his history as a young boy. Additionally, we are introduced to other family members, never mentioned before. We also get to delve more deeply into the character of Lucy. The author, Stacy Green does a wonderful job of sharing clues throughout the story to whet your appetite. She provides bite sized pieces that keep you guessing. The suspense is noticeable throughout the story and you want to keep reading to solve the mystery. I enjoyed the flashbacks that were provided, as they give pertinent history into the life of Chris and his mother. As noted in Books 1 and 2 in this series, the character development is on point and the characters (most notably Lucy), is relatable and interesting. I highly recommend this author and this series and will continue to seek out the other books. Thank you the publisher and NetGalley for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.

The Girl in the Cabin is the 3rd book in the Lucy Kendall Crime Thriller series.  This book is a continuation from 1 and 2 and if you've made it this far, you'll end up hooked like me.  In this book, Lucy's friend has gone missing and she has reason to believe he has gone after the serial killer that has been part of the sub plot in books 1 and 2.  This time, she's determined to find her and her friend, before it is too late.  But her reputation precedes her and while the law enforcement assigned to the case appreciate her insight and help, they warn her not to go off on her own and investigate.  She promises, but can she keep it?    These books are absolutely impossible to put down and I love all the twists and turns they take.  I still have one more left to read and while I'm hoping there won't be another cliffhanger at the end - I'm also not sure what I'll do with myself once I am done!  Lucy is sort of like a female Dexter. And I absolutely love her, even though I often times don't know if I should be rooting for her or not.

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.

The Girl In The Cabin, also titled Gone To Die, is the third book in the Lucy Kendall series by best-selling American author, Stacy Green. As Lucy mentally comes to terms with her latest killings, her friend Chris Hale is in contact with his mother, serial killer Mary Weston aka Martha Beckett. Much to Lucy’s dismay, she learns from voicemail that he has travelled to an isolated town in Maryland to meet up with her. But even worse, the sound of a gunshot…

As she hurriedly arranges to go to Jarrettsville, Detective Todd Beckett insists on accompanying her. Lucy is frustrated by Jarrettsville’s inept Sheriff’s deputies, and the delay they cause in finding the location. Blood in the snow and a discarded cell-phone have her extremely worried for her friend’s safety.

When a search discovers the body of a missing teen in a hunting cabin, Mary Weston’s signature is apparent. Finding her will be their only chance to save Chris. Desperate to find his nephew, ADA Frank Hale brings FBI Agent Lennox and his tech team, but Lucy is not confident they can find where the killer has taken Chris. As it becomes apparent that Chris has not been honest with her, she worries that his mental state will make him more vulnerable to his mother’s manipulation.

Given her recent history, Lucy is somewhat stunned to find herself working with the FBI and local law enforcement. Some clever tech work and a lot of grunt sorting through non-digitised cases, in a bid to learn Mary’s history, helps them to eventually guess at the most likely location where Chriss is being kept. But will they get there in time?

This is a series best read in order as there are massive spoilers for the first two books in this one. It is a vast improvement on the first two: perhaps this publisher offers a better editor, although the blurb is inaccurate and misleading. Now that Lucy has vowed to stop killing, it will be interesting to see where the fourth book takes the reader.

A really ironic premise of a good killer hunting down a bad killer😂.

It's thrilling, it kept me at the edge of my seat the most of the time. The entire investigation really peaked my interest. Such a great flow of plot, and well paced as well.

Characters are developed properly. Their intentions and interactions are organic and play out really well. A good thriller to pick up through and through!!

Just as good as the previous two, if not better. A fantatsic read that had me hooked and I couldn't put down. I was on the edge of my seat throughout most of the book.

Book three does not disappoint. With the first two books in the series being page-turners, this series is one I have looked forward to. The Girl In the Cabin is one riveting read. The plot, the characters, the writing keep the readers hooked. The characters, from the beginning of this series have evolved and it is enthralling to keep up with them.

This is an okay read. The graphic descriptions of child abuse are extremely hard to stomach. The main characters don't really grab me and I struggled to get engrossed in the story.

The Girl in the Cabin is the third book in the Lucy Kendall Crime Thriller Series. It was originally published under the title Gone to Die. I did not completely finish this book, not because I didn't like it but it gave me horrible nightmares. The book is very good but if sexual sadism of a minor bothers you, then this book might not be for you.

I'm rounding up to 4 stars. Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

This is book 3 of the Lucy Kendall series and for a pessimistic reader of vigilantes storylines I am now totally hooked! Stacy Green is a fabulous writer and I have already enjoyed her Nikki Hunt series (also highly recommended). Stacy green is now facing a very self awareness crisis where her previous actions (killing paedophiles) are weighing heavy on her (as it should).
However, she does not get much time to feel sorry for herself as Chris, her friend and also son of a serial killer mother is now in danger from the said mother.
Holly mackerel this series goes again on a roller-coaster of action and suspense and what a ride!
Forget the sleep, I need the next book now!

"I recited the information as if the memories were my own scars, scattered over my body, deep and welted, never properly healed."

The Girl in the Cabin is the third book in the Lucy Kendall series. Prior to reading this I hadn't read the first two books, but Stacy Green did a great job setting the scene and filling the reader in on previous details. Because of that it was super easy to keep up with the plot. I did have trouble at first figuring out the relations between Chris, Justin, and Todd, but that was explained after the first few chapters.

This book deals with heavy topics of assault, sexual assault, and murder. The scenes described are obviously very graphic in nature, but I think the author did a great job of finding the "just right" amount of description in order to keep the reader engaged, but not completely grossed out. With that being said, if you're squeamish I would recommend skipping over the descriptions of the murder scenes.

I would have loved to have seen more development on the relationship between Lucy and Todd. It seems like there is something there, but he disappears very suddenly in the book and doesn't make a reappearance. Chris also obviously has a thing for Lucy, and while throughout the story it seems like Lucy might have feelings towards him, the ending of the book leave us with more questions regarding their relationship.

It was interesting to see Lucy's perspective. She is technically a good, bad guy since has killed, but has only killed bad people. It would be interesting to see her development in another book as she definitely has some unresolved issues and it would be interesting to see how she deals with the big change coming her way.

This book wasn't mind blowing, but it was entertaining and I would definitely like to read more from the series.

3/5 stars

Yet another great book in the series from this author. This is the 5rd book that I have read one after another. It continues the story of Lucy Kendall, Chris, Justin and Todd. Lucy is still set on helping young children whilst still dealing with her hidden darker side
Highly recommend reading this series..

I have read and enjoyed the first 2 books in this series so far so was looking forward to reading this one. I wasn’t disappointed, a great but difficult subject for a storyline but very well written and just makes me want to keep reading. I highly recommend this book and author. Can’t wait for the next book.

This is the third book in the Lucy Kendall series by author Stacy Green. It has taken me awhile to get to grips with this series but by the end of the last book I was felt that I was finally there. Former CPS worker turned Private Investigator, Lucy Kendall is a very complex character and I now feel the connection many others felt a lot earlier than me.

The body of a sixteen-year-old girl is found in a remote hunting cabin in the middle of the snowy Maryland. There are handprints around her neck and the incense left burning at the scene are vital clues to who committed this terrible crime, the notorious serial killer Mary Weston. The police have been chasing her for many years and failed leaving many parents without daughters. Lucy is working closely with the police and wants to catch Mary Weston as much as the police do. But May Weston has other plans and appears to be teasing them when the bodies of three other teenage girls are found in remote locations. Once more a race is on to hunt the killer down before more innocent lives are lost.

Everything suddenly gets personal when one of Lucy’s closest friends Chris who just happens to be Mary’s son disappears. Lucy is convinced Mary is responsible, and she will do anything to find him. So when Mary sends Lucy a message asking to meet her alone she knows she must face her to save her friend. A meeting that could end in her losing her own life.

For me personally this series has grown on me little by little and I am really looking forward to book four in the series.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

After the events of Book 2 Lucy goes into shutdown. The things she did have weighed heavily on her & left her wondering just who she has become. She cuts herself off from everyone including Chris to whom she had promised to find & deal with his evil, serial killer mother- Mary Weston. The body of a young girl is found in a cabin in the woods. The way she died points to Mary. She receives a message from Chris to say he is investigating himself but the voice-mail ends with a shot. This time her she is not alone. FBI agent Lennox & Detective Beckett are also involved but can they get to Chris before it's too late .It was good to see Lucy not working alone for a change.

This was a fast paced read that kept me glued to the page. So pleased book 4 is beside me! Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book

Mary Weston is a brutal serial killer who has evaded the law for years. She is connected to former social worker now PI/vigilante-turned-murderer Lucy Kendall since she struck up a friendship with a man named Chris. In fact, Chris sought Lucy out at their first meeting, and she cannot help but to be drawn in about the story of his dark and upsetting past.

Not only is Lucy facing the dangers of meeting Mary Weston, but she has begun to question her vigilante activities that has cost the lives of several men who harmed children and did not get the justice that she felt that they deserved. But now that her friend Chris has gone missing, Lucy is desperate to find him. She is not alone in this. The police are searching for Chris as well. In fact, they allow Lucy quite a bit of leeway when it comes to the search for Chris.

In order to find Chris, Lucy must attempt something that could be extremely dangerous. Knowing that Chris has been captured by his own mother, Mary Weston presents a real challenge for Lucy. Mary wants to meet Lucy. By so doing, Lucy’s life could definitely be on the line.

What a tense read! As this thrilling series has progressed, Lucy has been on the line about the decisions that she has been making regarding her vigilante activities. She does not measure to the depravity that the serial killer killers and child molesters that she has killed, but yet she questions her actions. With Chris now having gone missing, Lucy wonders whether or not she would be able to do harm to Mary Weston in order to save Chris. However, the decision as to what to do could be taken right out of her hands.

This exciting third book in the Lucy Kendall series follows The Girl in the Pink Shoes and Little Lost Souls. This is an interconnected series that really should be read in order, and by so doing it will definitely help readers to understand Lucy and her motivations. This well-written story shows the dangers that are facing Lucy, especially when it comes to her desire to right the wrongs of the past and some of the decisions that she has made. Suspense and danger go hand in hand in this book, making this easily a one-sitting read. With shocking twists and turns and a pulse-pounding conclusion, this book set the groundwork for the final book in the series.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

The Girl in the Cabin (A Lucy Kendall Crime Thriller Book 3) by Stacy Green is one twisty tale that keeps Lucy on her toes and the reader along with her. I applaud the way Lucy ends this story with an insight and decision concerning her life. Mary Weston, serial killer, mother of friend Chris is back with the FBI tacking her down. Lucy is help them, but Mary proves to be elusive until she chooses otherwise. Not for the faint of heart but for those who love a truly thought provoking, well-crafted biting thriller. It is even better than the first two in the series if that is possible.

One small detail is discerning concerning the right-handed gunner who. killed Lionel. I can help but wonder if that is coming back to hunt Lucy in the last book of the series. I must read to discover.

Please note The Girl in the Cabin was previously published as Gone to Die. While perhaps this could be read as a stand-alone I would highly suggest reading the series in order, the chill factor will be increased!

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
