Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC of The Girl in the Cabin, the third installment in the Lucy Kendall series. Another great, edge of your seat read as Lucy chases down Mary Weston. This installment sees more growth and introspection from Lucy. Anxious to see where she goes from here!

Gave me dextery vibes a bit which I was all about .

I almost didn't read this when I noticed it is #3 in a series but I'm so glad I did ! I flew through this book & couldn't wait to go back to it when I wasn't reading . A rollercoaster of a read for sure . Creeps you out while also making you laugh .. 🤔

I will now be catching up on books 1 & 2 to prepare for book #4 .

This book was hard hitting and gritty and very cleverly written. I found some parts of it disturbing but, I read on and really enjoyed this twisty book. The third in this series and I’m getting to know the main character Lucy very well which helps when reading a series. Looking forward to reading the fourth one now. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

TWISTY & curiosity-inducing. My favorite combination.

From the jump, this story had momentum. The pacing was quick, but the plot was thoroughly developed.

Lucy Kendall is an interesting character—she's morally gray but likable. She's self-aware enough to grapple with her own darkness, even to the point of comparing herself with the very psychopath she's hunting. That component added quite a bit of nuance to Lucy.

Chris's disappearance (after deciding to pursue a confrontation with his abusive serial-killer mother, Mary) and Lucy's resulting bloodlust created a very rich plot. I was curious, rapt, and theorizing the whole time.

Overall, I found this book very thought-provoking. It was a fairly quick and totally enjoyable read. Would definitely recommend it.

Big thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Lucy is an absolutely fascinating character. I've enjoyed her inner growth and her outer ferociousness.
I am still pulling for her and Todd to hook up.
I was glad Mary reappeared and it led to a culmination of everything.
Did Chris shoot his uncle?
Is Chris secretly his mother's son?
I enjoyed Kelly appearing more in this book.
I don't understand why so many law officials are readily overlooking and ignoring their gut instincts about Lucy.
I feel like she was at her best in this book. Especially when it came to protecting Kelly.
I can't wait for the next one.
I received an advance copy. All opinions are my own.

The twisting trail to a serial killer: riveting!😳

I found this Lucy Kendall story fascinating, with plenty of action, as MC Philadelphia-based private investigator/vigilante Lucy Kendall works with law enforcement to chase Mary Weston, a long-operating abuser and serial killer, and Chris Hale, the killer's damaged son who disappears after arranging to meet his mother.

Lucy's a truly complex character with unique insight to just how close she is to going permanently rogue. She channels her own dark side to develop theories on the killer's mind and moves. I liked the way the characters closest to her help rein Lucy in and constantly remind her that she has choices and the psychological strength to change course.

I preferred this third book in the series to the second. It seemed much more realistic, with Lucy working the case as part of a team including lots of law enforcement and resources at their disposal, instead of attempting everything by herself. This novel is more directly connected to The Girl in the Pink Shoes (another excellent read), the first part of the Lucy Kendall series, than book number two. I would recommend reading the first book before this one to get the backstory on Mary Weston's violent behavior and relationship with her sons.

I rate this a top-notch crime novel.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Lucy Kendall gets a little introspective in this book. She cannot decide if she is a monster or if she is doing society a favor. This introspection gets real when Chris is kidnapped by his serial killer monster mother, I do not know if serial killer can even begin to describe this woman. Mary is beyond disturbed and depraved, and she has been killing girls for years. She was so good at it that she got her husband sent to prison and he took the fall for her vicious kills (even though he was partially responsible).

Lucy is working with the FBI because of her valuable knowledge about Mary and her methods. She also wants to save Chris and feels responsible for his kidnapping. Kelly is Lucy's behind the scenes computer mastermind who rarely leaves the house, but she decides that since Chris the victim, she will go with Lucy to help the computer analysts of the FBI. Kelly knows all of Lucy's dirty little secrets, but Kelly also owes her life to Lucy as Lucy rescued Kelly many years ago from imprisonment by her father.

We are introduced to a new character in this installment of the series. Agent Lennox works with the FBI, and there is a little underlying tension as Lucy "feels" that he knows what she has done in her past. However, she puts aside her fear because if you know Lucy, you know that Lucy would give her very life to save a friend in need.

You get a little more insight into the psyche of Lucy in this book as she mentally berates herself for not being there and saving her sister, and then moving on to being a vigilante all in the name of her own brand of justice. There was non-stop action as they are on the run trying to find Mary as she drops clues that lead them on a wild goose chase. You will find out a lot more about Mary and her past. There is a reporter in this book, Beth Reid, that I would like to smack! I wanted to reach into the book and pop her. Once again you will find yourself pulling for Lucy Kendall as she valiantly tries to save her friend, Chris. Put you seatbelt on and get ready for a ride!

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Girl in the Cabin is book 3 in the Lucy Kendall series.

In this installment Lucy is finally ready to find Mother Mary and deal with her once and for all. That is until Chris is taken by Mary.

Now she is out to save Chris from Mary. Lucy continues to struggle with who she is while searching the cold wilderness for Chris. With the FBI and Todd by her side to help, she is sure to find him in time. Right? Lots of suspense and terror in this one.

I love that we find more and more about the characters as the series goes on. They are all troubled in one way or another, but are likeable even so. As we learn more about Mary's past, it just gets creepier and creepier.

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the arc.

This book is the 3rd book in the Lucy Kendall Series by Stacy Green. This a well written series but anyone reading this series should be made aware that it is a gritty and unpalatable topic where there are predators of children and human trafficking. In this instalment of the series, it centres around Chris and Mary. This has been an ongoing back story in the other 2 books, but now it feels that we are getting to know more about the characters and where this is heading in the series. Whilst this was a good thriller in its own right, this book felt like it was mainly setting up Book 4 in the series.

Thank you to the Author, Publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and give an unbiased review of a complimentary digital ARC.

Book 3 in the Lucy Kendall series. Lucy gets a message from Chris who had gone to find Mother Mary, the voicemail ends in a gunshot. Will Lucy be able to track Chris and take out another Mary before it’s too late. This is a super fast paced quick read and another great addition to the Lucy story.

Lucy Kendall is one complex person!
What she does some can see as being just a bit too much.
She delves out her own form of justice because the police aren’t doing their jobs.
She struggles with what she does.
Please read the series from the first book! You need to know the backstory of Lucy to understand why she is the way she is.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Girl in the Cabin is the third book in a series but it stands alone.

A sixteen year old girl is murdered in a cabin in the snow and is found in strange circumstances. It is up to Lucy, a PI, to solve the case as more teens are found. She knows the murder is committed by a serial killer, Mary.
While she tries to solve the crime Mary's son, Chris disappears. Chris is Lucy's friend and she assumes he has been taken by his mother.

The story looks at the inner life of Lucy and follows her thoughts in an illuminating world.
The facts and thoughts make a compelling read, as does the mystery

Wow what a read! So glad I read books one and two in this series (but can easily be read as a stand-alone). For sure my favorite in this series. Loved all the characters! This one hooked me from the beginning and just never let go. Great twists and turns.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book

I received this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion and review. I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this book, because I was a little disappointment with the second novel in the series. My interest was immediately piqued. I have enjoyed the Mary storyline, and having her the center of the book was much more thrilling. I do think that Lucy’s days of killing are not over just yet. Overall, I enjoyed the book, but nothing will ever touch how I felt about the first novel in the series

Book 3 of Private Investigator Lucy Kendall leads her to cabin in the woods and finding a body of a 16 year old girl that has the hallmarks of a serial killer who is close to her friend!! Lucy is working with the police in order to track the killer down and to find her friend. This story was a real page turner and full of twists and turns with a surprise ending!!

The chase for the really bad people continues. Lucy is "fully" cooperating with the police to catch the woman she has been looking for, as well as the son of this woman, Chris, someone she called a friend. Lucy's quest for justice for sexually abused children still takes some turns to the gray side, but at least she and the police now have a common goal.

It is interesting to read about the history of what happened to the people, how they went "bad", and ow it affected so many people around them. Good book, and I love how the story keeps on unfolding! Stacy Green is a skilled author, and she knows what she is doing. She keeps the tension going, and the reader keeps on wanting more!

Book 3, I decided I do like Lucy. I think she is a good character and hopefully changing for the better.
Chris goes looking for his mom, will he survive if he finds her. With Lucy’s tenaciousness, probably so.
Lucy is going through some emotional dilemmas and trying to overcome her demons. This one was full of intense suspense. My favorite of this series so far.
Many thanks to Netgalley for the chance to read and review this one. On to the next.

After the event leading to the deaths of two people, Lucy Kendall has gone into a deep depression. Having ignored pretty much everyone around her, including her friend Chris she felt lost.

When Lucy finally listens to the voicemails from Chris it quickly pulls her out of whatever slump she was in. He’s gone after mother Mary and now she can’t get hold of him.

FBI agent Lennox is on the trail of Chris and Mary and he’s insisted Lucy helps the investigation. As things unfold, Mary’s life is also opened up, giving the people on the hunt for Chris plenty to go on. But the big question is, will they be able to find Chris before Mary does something that can’t be undone?

As with the rest of the Lucy Kendall series, this book has some themes that may trigger some readers including rape and suicide.

Again this book had me pulled in from the start. The story was full of mystery and twists. I’m really enjoying following the different characters progression throughout the books and how things link up. I’m looking forward to starting the next book.

PI Lucy Kendall hunts for serial killer Mary Weston after a girls body is found and her friend Chris is held hostage by the woman that is is his mother. This was a very tense and emotional read. This is the third book in the series and can be read as a stand-alone but I suggest reading the others first. Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Stacy Green! This book will be released January 30, 2023.
