What can I say…. I had heard of this author, mostly on our local radio station talking about her novels.

This one follows two women, one in modern times and one during WW2. The things that link them are a house in Sidmouth and the events that happen to them. Am trying not to put any spoilers here.

The chapters are set out for the two main characters, Elizabeth ( WW2) and Nancy ( today). Jane Corry seems to make each chapter end on a thrilling moment which made me want to read on to find out what happens next. A gripping read which I would give more than 5 stars if I could.

Tall Chimneys is the name of a house in Devon, a house with stories to tell, filled with characters and secrets over the decades.
The story is told in two timelines, present day, Nancy has seen her half brother sent to prison for murdering her mother and her stepfather, Nancy retreats to the the house in Devon which she inherited from her grandmother Adeline, she is hoping to find peace here, escape the journalists and her fiancé Alex, she can’t have him finding out the truth about the night of the murders
The second timeline is set in1941 WW2. Elizabeth and her husband live in Tall Chimneys, their 17 year old son has just left for war, Elizabeth takes in two evacuee girls and their teacher. Elizabeth and Adeline are best friends, both relying on the help and support of the other, they are both keeping secrets.
There are decades between the timelines, Nancy wants to find out what happened in the house during the war, to tell its secrets, she also needs to tell the truth about what happened at her mother’s birthday party the night she was murdered.
The two stories blend together, there is great atmosphere in the story, lots of emotion from all the characters and I could feel myself emerged in both timelines.
Many thanks to Net Galley and Penguin General UK for an ARC of this book in exchange for a review.

This was an excellent story that had a couple of surprises that made it all sound so real, you wait a long time to find out what happened but it has been written so well that you just want to keep on reading. Nancy is a good character so it all works well together. This was a hard-to-put-down book as you constantly want to know what is going to happen, I like how the way it is written as it really keeps you logged into the story.

I absolutely love Jane Corry's books so I couldn't wait to get stuck into Coming To Find You.

This novel is told from the points of view of Nancy whose stepbrother Martin has just been imprisoned for murdering her mother and stepfather (Martin's father). Nancy decides to lay low after the trial to avoid the media circus and goes back to her family home in Devon, Tall Chimneys, which was previously a boarding house or B&B.

We also flit back to the story of Nancy's grandmother Adeline and her best friend Elizabeth whose son was sent to the army when he was seventeen. Elizabeth previously owned Tall Chimneys and passed it to Adeline. The women then enlist into the 'secret army'. As I am not a historical fiction reader usually, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed these chapters.

There are a lot of secrets being kept in both stories and it all ties together beautifully. What I love about Corry's novels is the setting. I can always picture myself there, especially the beachy scenes in this one. I also love the slight peppering of information, urging you to keep reading because the truth is all about to come out. I definitely recommend Jane Corry's novels if you haven't already read any!

I’ve enjoyed many of this authors other books but unfortunately this one didn’t do it for me. I found it difficult to get into and it dragged at some parts

An entertaining book. Nancy returns to her family's holiday home after her mother and step-father are murdered by her step-brother. I nearly gave up early on as the story switches from Nancy's present to recent past and her grandmother's association with the house during the Second World War. Sometimes the segments were so short that it spoiled the flow of the other story lines. I'm glad I stuck with it as I enjoyed it in the end.

I struggled with this book and the characters, even though I found a few of the themes explored interesting, so I wasn’t as engaged with this psychological thriller. However, it was an easy and quick read, with an intriguing dual timeline at times and some very tense moments.

Another Jane Corry Best Seller!!!! Absolutely love Jane's writing style, she always manages to fully immerse you in the storyline and feel attached to the characters! This novel does not disappoint told in present day and back in WW2.
Nancy is present day owner of Tall Trees in Sidmouth after her mum and step dad were brutally murdered in their farmhouse in front of her. After it being splashed over the papers th he police tell her she needs to hide out for a while and Talk Trees is where she thinks of. But Nancy is keeping secrets of her own! Why did she break off her wedding to Alex?
Back in WW2 Elizabeth was the owner of Tall Trees and it was used as a guest house as well as where evacuees were housed. After the war ends she gifts her house to Adeline - her best friend and grandmother to Nancy!

Tall Trees has so many tales it could tell - if only houses could talk!!

Highly recommended to both Jane Corry fans and fans of thrillers in general. Can't wait for her next novel. Many thanks to NetGalley and th he publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book. Wish I could give more than 5 stars!!!!

When her family tragedy is splashed across the newspapers, Nancy decides to disappear. Her grandmother's beautiful Regency house in a quiet seaside village seems like the safest place to hide. But the old house has its own secrets and a chilling wartime legacy . . . And someone also knows the truth about the night Nancy's mother and stepfather were murdered. That someone knows where to find her. And they are coming to find her.
A cracking read, revealing piece by piece just who was responsible for the murder of Nancy's mother and stepfather in the present day, but at the same time also revealing the story of a wartime murder also tied to Nancy's grandmother's house.
I hadn't realised initially that this was a dual time line mystery but actually found that the more I read of the two stories, the more they intertwined. I really enjoyed this book.

📚📖 BOOK REVIEW 📖📚

📖 Book - Coming To Find You
✍️ Author - Jane Corry
📕 Publisher - Penguin
🗓 Publication Date - 22nd June 2023

I’ve read a number of Jane’s books and loved them. This one felt a bit different BUT I say that in a positive way. I’m not one for reading books that are set during the war (I used to years ago).
This was a dual timeline - set during the war and the present day.
The war years …. We find out about Elizabeth & Adeleine . They are best friends. Elizabeth lives in a lovely family house called Tall Chimneys. Elizabeth has a lot going on as her house is also a bed and breakfast. She has also taken in 2 refugee’s children and their teacher. They both learn that their lives will never be the same after the war.
Present Day …… we meet Nancy and also Martin who is her stepbrother. We know that Martin is in jail, her mum and stepdad were murdered in the family home. We have to wait to find out exactly what happened that night. Also what happened with Nancy & Alex?

What is the connection between the two timelines? I do love a dual timeline!! Especially when it’s written so well.

I’m giving this a 4 star for me, it was just the ending ….. I was like “ Mmmmmmm!”

The gripping story about a family‘s darkest secrets including three murders, committed during WWII and in the present time respectively, plus the highly coercive-controlling, toxic relationship between the heroine and her step-brother make this an at best interesting but by no means pleasant read.

What is coming to find Nancy are the lies she has told and the secrets she has kept, and when they arrive it is going to be nasty! Straight off, you know you are in Jane Corry country where everyone has deceits and untruths eating away at them, and nothing is quite as it seems.

Nancy is in at the deep end! Her stepbrother has just been found guilty of murdering Nancy’s mother and her stepfather, Duncan. She has dumped her boyfriend Alex because of what happened and she is trying to hide out in the old family home in Devon. Of course, that’s impossible as the tabloids are after her and… the truth.

She’s partly rescued by Vera who lives next door but then it turns out that Vera has her own secrets and that story veers off into the Second World War and involves Nancy’s grandmother, Adeline. Meanwhile, the stepbrother, Martin, gets weirder, escapes from prison and is out to find Nancy. He is convinced that since he took the rap, she owes him. The love isn’t exactly mutual!

There is more confusion and the secrets and the lies are slowly unravelled before a dramatic and chaotic ending sorts everything out. It’s a great read, fast-moving and controlled and it leaves you wondering just who can be trusted – anywhere – and you won’t be certain until the last page!

A very intriguing book this one. You've essentially got 2 storylines running and so it jumps back and forth with very different characters in each. Eventually the storylines come together and fills in the gaps with some more twists and turns! Definitely a book worth reading and one you'll find hard to put down until you finish!

This book has a dual timeline. We meet Nancy who’s step brother has just been convicted of murdering their Mum and Dad. To escape the media, she travels to Devon to stay in her family’s summer home Tall Chimneys.

Tall chimneys holds some secrets though which is the basis for the second timeline set in WW2.

The timelines work well together and seamlessly pull ‘coincidences’ together. I found myself preferring the second timeline. I actually found myself disliking Nancy and found her timeline a bit all unbelievable.

It was a decent read, I was lucky enough to receive an early copy. The book is out now.

Nancy escapes to Sidmouth after her stepbrother Martin is convicted of killing his dad and her mum. Convinced the journalists will follow and going through her own secret issues she shuts herself off. However we are then treating to a very skillful charscter arc and the telling and intertwining of a historic mystery and Nancy's and Martin's story.
I loved this book all characters were well developed and the twists and turns really hooked me. Although I gueesed Nancy'story early on it was such a pleasure to read. I rooted in each story. Another 5 star thriller highly recommended. Look forward to the next. Thank you to net gallery penguin books general uk and jane ciry formy arc.

Brilliant.
As usual, Jane Corry had me gripped from the beginning.
Enjoyed the story and how the different eras and events intertwined.

Set during both WW2 and the present day this book tells the story of a house and the people who lived there.

A fascinating story but you do need to concentrate as the different layers are revealed.

Without a doubt this is going to be one of my books of the year!! Part psychological thriller, part murder mystery, part historical thriller this book has something for everyone. Set in Sidmouth, Devon the story flits between the present and 1941 when Britain was faced with the prospect of invasion by Germany. The present from Nancy’s POV and the past Elizabeth’s. The characters are all beautifully drawn from Maisie and Shelly the young evacuees to Elizabeth, Adeline and Nancy.

Briefly, we first meet Nancy following the trial of her step brother Martin for the murder of her step father and mother. He is found guilty but Nancy for some unknown reason believes she is guilty too. But someone know the truth about the murders… Following the trial in London Nancy runs from the press intrusion to Tall Chimneys, a house in Sidmouth left to her by her mother. In 1941 the house belonged to a close friend of her grandmother Adeline. The owner Elizabeth has a fractious relationship with her husband and following the loss of her son Philip to the war she starts to take in evacuees from London.

The suspense was so good as family secrets are gradually revealed and the house is hiding it’s own secrets! This was a gripping read from start to finish and don’t you love it when you learn something new; I now know what a “silent sentence” is! This is one hell of an emotional ride, a brilliant book that I couldn’t put down right up to the shocking end. A stunning read.

An atmospheric domestic suspense with disturbing secrets and an exploration of the impact of being related to a murderer. Dual timeline, current and 1940s, with the family holiday home as the connecting element. The suspense builds as the story develops, and Nancy, the current-day protagonist, has many characteristics of an unreliable narrator but still draws the readers' empathy. It's a compelling read. I like the vivid description, the characterisation and the suspense.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
