I loved the concept of Scandinavian folklore and dark fairy tales, and this book does that so well. It worked in the horror genre and was exactly had what I was looking for. I had enjoyed the previous two books in the Whiteland series and this may be my favorite in the series. The characters were what I was hoping for from the previous books, and worked well in the story. I was invested in what was going on and am glad I got to continue this series.
"Rubbing her eyes clear with a knuckle, Kira fights their longing to close. Her eyelids are as heavy as iron. ‘Why?’ she slurs, with a petulant pout. ‘You never said we’d leave with the morning chorus.’ Suddenly, the white dawn’s quiet is loud. ‘There is no morning chorus.’
Thank you NetGalley and BHC Press for a copy of this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was very hard to follow and confusing. I thought the writing structure really perpetuated that. This book had potential, but it wasn't for me. I think with some more refinement and clearer writing that it would be a pleasure to read.
