I just love anything that has to do with rendezvous. I think they are fascinating and that is main reason I decided to read this book. Also, I grew up in the Rocky Mountains so I do enjoy stories with that setting. I loved the sisters idea and their interactions, and it is obvious how this series will probably continue now after reading the first book. I really liked the setting of this novel and there is a bit of a mystery that makes this book a slight page turner. I had a hard time with the two main characters and I struggled to really love them. There were a few parts that were a bit slow and so because of that I had a hard time being fully invested in the plot. I did appreciate the slight cliff hanger at the end and I am sure many others will completely love this story.

Three and a half stars.

What an amazing start to a new series. I enjoy every book this author writes and how I am taken back in time to an undeveloped land to see how our ancestors fought to stay alive and thrive in this majestic mountain terrain. This new series does that and more as we are along with four sisters that have come west to find a Peigan Blackfoot woman that saved their father years ago while he traveled through this harsh land. On his deathbed, he asks the girls to return something to this woman with his thanks for saving him. The sisters had no idea how difficult this task would turn out to be and the hardships they would face.

Riley Turner is at the rendezvous along with hundreds of other trappers to restock their supplies and gather together for this annual event. When he first lays eyes on the sisters he has no idea why they are here but knows they are in danger of being unprotected from all of these men. He puts himself in charge of doing just that and in doing so sets out with the sisters to find this Indian woman they seek. There are many dangers along the way as well as disappointments of not finding her. What he does find though is the second oldest sister, Juniper, has caught his attention and is quickly winning his heart. This land is no place for a lady and he has no intention of going back to the States so where does that leave him? Alone once again it seems.

Join the sisters and Riley as they find their way in the Rockies on this wonderful journey that will test their faith and skills. The characters are well thought out and the story will keep you guessing. There is danger, excitement, humor, faith, and love and it is just a great first book. I can't wait to continue with this series to see what happens next.

An early copy was received through Baker Publishing Group, Bethany House Publishers, and NetGalley. These opinions are my own and were in no way solicited.

Four sisters take on all of the odds...

Once again I've set off on a wilderness adventure with Misty M. Beller and once again it was quite a ride. Take four sisters, three men who want to help them, a wild rendezvous camp, a troublesome coyote pup, one missing woman, and a promise, mix it all up against the Wyoming wilderness backdrop and you get the exciting tale that is Rocky Mountain Rendezvous.

I will say that this first Sisters Of The Rockies novel had a little larger cast of characters than I would usually expect from Misty M. Beller but I found myself enjoying it. Of course, as is my usual, my favorite character turned out to be one little four-legged troublemaker. Yes, I liked Juniper and her sisters and Riley and his friends but...I love characters of the furry persuasion, I just can't help myself.

Rocky Mountain Rendezvous was another good read from this author and I find myself looking forward to the next Sisters Of The Rockies book where hopefully there will be some more clues to the mystery that the Collins sisters promised to unravel...

Going west into Wyoming territory in 1837 finds four sisters trying to keep a deathbed promise to their father. To find a woman who saved their father's life and return her beads to her. These are of special significance, and the sisters want to honor their father in this. So, they set out, not really knowing what they are walking into, but they have established some rules for themselves.

What they come upon in the Rocky Mountains is a trapper rendezvous that brought men of all kinds to trade for an entire year. I had never heard of this historical nugget, and it was interesting to learn about.

One of these men is Riley Turner who just wants to have peace and quiet. But these four unprotected women stir something inside of him, a very protective instinct. And one of them he becomes very interested in.

Chock full of adventure, family love, sisterhood, and a sweet romance, this was a fun book to go back in time and get lost in.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this first book in a new series by Misty M. Beller. I always enjoy her books because I love how she describes the West in the 1800s and shows how important faith in God it. I love how uplifting her stories are. I always feel better after reading her books. I loved the characters in this story and the experiences they went through. I liked how they were willing to sacrifice for each other in order to make the other person happy. I also liked how she described the scenery and the interactions with the native people. I thought she did that with a lot of respect. I thought this was a good read and I can’t wait to read the other books in the series as they come out.

I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors.  A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.

Nothing is quite as exciting as the initiation of a new series by Christian historical Western fiction writer Misty Beller. Her books never fail to have me reading for hours at a time, usually finishing them in two or three sittings. There is just something enthralling about being transported nearly two hundred years back in time to a period when the American West was still largely untamed and unmarred by industry and development. For me, at least, it speaks to a part of my spirit that longs for the simplicity that has become a casualty of modern technology, for the natural wonders felled by progress. That being said, however, one aspect of Beller’s novels that I appreciate the most is that she does not romanticize the lifestyles and hardships of her characters within their historical context. A simple life does not necessarily equate to an easy one, but when a person chooses to walk by faith, the journey always proves worthwhile.

Set in July 1837 in the Green River Valley of what will one day become Wyoming, “Rocky Mountain Rendezvous” is book one in Misty Beller’s Sisters of the Rockies series. The titular Collins sisters include the oldest and the leader, Rosemary; the second oldest, Juniper; animal-loving Lorelie; and the youngest and most adventurous, Faith. This first book focuses mainly on Juniper, or “June,” who along with Rosemary has taken on the task of raising and taking care of their younger sisters, even now that they are mostly grown, and as a result, the four share an unbreakable bond that has brought them all on a westward journey to find a Peigan Blackfoot woman named Steps Right in order to fulfill their father’s dying request. I found myself relating to the trapper Riley Turner in his admiration of the sisters’ bond, especially as an only child, even as my heart broke for his own circumstances.

Always rich in characters as well as setting, “Rocky Mountain Rendezvous” likewise follows suit with Beller’s previous stories in its diversity of both trappers and Native Americans, as well as the aforementioned Collins sisters. I do think that a pronunciation guide would be very beneficial for some of the Native American names and terms, particularly given that they are historical and not always as easy to research and find. Along with romance and tense situations, Beller also interjects humor into the storyline at opportune moments to lighten the mood, and I am continually grateful that despite at times describing scenes of violence, this author never ventures into graphic details. Likewise, the element of faith is always present without being overbearing, and in “Rocky Mountain Rendezvous” Juniper acknowledges the crux of what we who are followers of Christ are all called to do by saying, “We can plant the seed in the sunshine and water it, but only the Lord can bring the crop.” Sometimes we, like Riley and Juniper, try to take on responsibilities that we are not called to bear, and learning to discern this is part of our faith journey and walk with God. Furthermore, in the midst of the inevitable heartache and trials of life, may we, like Juniper, realize that the Lord is always at work in us and in our circumstances, so that “she couldn’t miss the hand of God clearly working all these things together for good.”

Good book. Interesting story about four sisters who head to a trapper's rendezvous to fulfill a wish of their father's. They had no idea what they were getting into. Nice to get to know all of the characters, with Juniper being the main focus and Riley who felt the need to be their protector. The wild west at some of it's rowdiest! Trappers, native Americans, theft, a search and mystery, danger, a fulfilling journey. Very close sisters and their relationship. Communicating with others and understanding their ways and cultures. Beautiful scenery. Basic Christian values.

The first installment of the new Sisters of the Rockies by Misty M. Beller, Rocky Mountain Rendezvous is the perfect appetizer that makes readers want more. Interesting characters, vivid imagery, and just the right touch of danger, action, and adventure helped keep the pages turning into the wee hours of the night. A rambunctious coyote pup, horse thieves, and mysterious blue beads added to the intrigue.

After the death of their father, the four Collins sisters set out on a quest to fulfill his last wishes to return a necklace to the Indian woman who saved his life. When they arrived at the annual trappers rendezvous with the supply train, they realized they just might not be prepared. They had not expected the sheer number of trappers gathered in one place, men who had not seen white women in years. Fortunately one man among them, Riley Turner, had been raised to always protect women and he was impelled to protect these four innocents if at all possible. As he joined them in their quest to find the Indian woman they sought, he and Juniper Collins found themselves forming a strong bond. Too bad Juniper was committed to returning home with her sisters to build a horse ranch of their own.

Rocky Mountain Rendezvous was one of those books that could easily entice the reader to also travel to the mountains where one could breathe. I enjoyed the time I spent with the Collins sisters and Riley and look forward to future books in this series.

Rocky Mountain Rendezvous is book one in the Sisters of the Rockies series that is written by Misty M. Beller. We are back in the Rocky Mountains - and we are transported back the 1800's. I love that the author brings this portion of history to life.

We meet the four Collins sisters. Their father's dying wish was for a set of beads to be returned to a Piegan Blackfoot woman he credits with saving his life during his travels west. The sisters venture west and make it a rule that they are not allowing an attachment to form with any of the men here. We get to Juniper in this book - she is a likeable character and her story was written well.

They hire Riley Turner to help them navigate. Riley is worried when he sees four unattached women show up. He realizes they know next to nothing about the dangers that can unfold all around them. Riley becomes interested in Juniper. The author did a great job in creating their story. Riley has some childhood scars that he deals with - and Juniper helps heal his hurt.

I am so excited about book two - I love the Collins sisters. The author's settings come to life before your eyes and you will not want to stop reading. Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.

Imagine setting out for the west in 1837 hoping to find a Native lady that saved your father’s life 20 years earlier. That is the task set before the four sisters - Rosemary, Juniper, Lorelei and Faith. Just getting to the rendezvous must have been an adventure all its own. But how to find Steps Right?

This lovely story starts us out on a new series, Sisters of the Rockies, one you certainly will not want to miss. From a coyote pup to rattlesnakes, the dangers are many but the search goes on. In the vast area called the Rockies, is it even possible to find one woman? Will these sisters survive the charge they have been given?

What a surprise, to read outside my usual genres!

Rocky Mountain Rendezvous is a romance set in the mid 1800’s. A group of four sisters embark on a journey to fulfill their fathers dying wish, and with it grow close to a few hunting and trapping men who befriend them. This one definitely is tamer than what would actually have happened in this time period but it was a cute, quick read. Very predictable!

The sisters needed a bit more development. Halfway through the book I was still confused on who was who, and there was one sister that played such a minor role I often forgot she was there.

It took me about 80% of the way through to realize this was a Christian romance so if that isn’t your thing, stop here. It was a very gentle, chaste romance that developed over the course of the book which was actually a nice change from today’s romances!

This book isn’t for everyone but it’s a sweet story of sisterhood, adventure and following your heart.

So sweet! In Misty’s true style, Rocky Mountain Rendezvous has gorgeous scenery, a heaping scoop of adventure, and sweet romance. Juniper and Riley are so precious! I can’t wait to read the next ones in the series!

There is something special about this author that draws me to her books. She is able to take readers on an adventure while painting a picture of the land and people with vivid details. I was transported back to 1837 with four sisters on a mission to fulfill their father’s last wish. It will be a dangerous task to track down the woman they are looking for but they have faith that they will succeed. I loved reading about the land they traveled on and the danger that they faced.

This new series promises to be an epic adventure where strength, hope and courage will be tested. I adored the four sister in this first book and loved how they protected each other and was always there if someone needed encouragement. I was very intrigued by the determination they had to seek out a woman who they didn’t know. What if she was not receptive to them? Would this woman reject the gift they have brought? It is truly an emotional story complete with snakes, horse thieves, a handsome man who comes to their aid and a coyote as a pet.

Riley is someone the sisters need to help them locate the woman and I admired how he stepped up to not only travel with them but to also protect them from the treacherous land, weather and unexpected travelers on the road. With a subtle nudge that the author gave we discover Riley and Juniper start to become more that just acquaintances. Their attraction grows slowly and shows how much they are meant for each other.

The ending is one that gave me such hope as the sisters get closer to finding this special woman. Juniper runs into trouble and I was shocked at who saved her. The author does leave a door open which I hope will continue this journey with Juniper and her sisters. I find myself already getting excited about the next book in this series.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

“It’s been a while since we’ve discussed the rules we set for ourselves before we started on this journey. It might be good we take time to recall them. Especially the one about not allowing an attachment to form with any of the men here.”

It’s time to visit the Rockies again (as they were in the 1800s) with Misty M Beller as she leads us into a new series, Sisters of the Rockies. Rocky Mountain Rendezvous introduces us to the four Collins sisters, but we get to know Juniper best.

The four sisters arrive in 1837 in the Green River Valley, now Wyoming, at an annual trading rendezvous. Having promised their dying father they would find the Piegan woman who used her healing knowledge to save his life, the young women hire a young and handsome trapper, Riley Turner, to lead them to different Blackfoot Piegan tribes.

Riley and Juniper both are very likable. However, Riley’s childhood leaves him with scars hard to overcome. Juniper may be attracted to Riley, and decides to help him in a way he may not be prepared for. But she must guard her heart, as the women made a list of rules for themselves before coming west. Topping the list was no romantic attachments to men on the trip!

Part of the mystery I figured out. There was some unfinished business at the end, which leads one to believe it will be solved in the next story.

I loved learning about the rendezvous, a new historical event for me. I wonder if Dragoon’s character will grow more in another book, or is he just not a strong person? While I had fun imagining the pet coyote pup and the story flowed well, I really yearned for more vivid descriptions of the gorgeous, dangerous scenery and events.

Notable Quotsbles:

He wouldn’t be his parents. He would be better.

Why did she have to say no to one love in order to accept the other?

Loving someone made you far too vulnerable to the pain of loss, whether they left you by choice or through injury or sickness.

“Even when you think you know a person, sometimes they change.”

I try to take the measure of each person individually instead of labeling an entire tribe as dangerous. There’s good and bad in every village.”

Strong women. Family. Romance. Mountains. Action. Faith. I mean what more could you ask for, especially from Misty Beller? She has a way of pulling you into the story right from the get go, and you can’t help but to keep on reading until you reach the very end. This new series proves to be a strong one, not that I am surprised. It just means I have more books on my radar!

Juniper and her sisters are such great characters. They are close knit, always looking out for one another. But as much as they are strong, you can also see their vulnerable side a little here and there, and that’s what makes Beller such a wonderful story teller. Then you add Riley to the mix and wow. Juniper and Riley were a fantastic couple. Their romance was perfectly paced and this reader had a smile on her face more than once.

All in all, Beller fans should be prepared for another fantastic story and series. If the cover alone doesn’t make you want to go all in, well then just read the book blurb. I think you’ll find yourself in the Rockies faster than you can say “Take me to the Rockies!”

What were Rose and her sisters thinking? I can't imagine going out in the wilderness so very far from home. But they promised their father that they would grant his last request. He wanted them to find a certain Piegan Blackfoot woman and give her back blue beads that she gave him so many years ago.

The sisters were focused on completing their task. They never expected their lives to change as they explored the picturesque Rocky Mountains. Thank goodness, Riley Turner was there to help them and give them his protection. But what will protect his heart?

I was introduced to Misty M. Beller's books a few years ago. She does an amazing job describing the sights and sounds of the wilderness. I always want to read her books. She never disappoints.

I was pleased to find out that Misty M Beller had a new series to release called, Sisters of the Rockies. Once I got the first book, Rocky Mountain Rendezvous, in my hands, I devoured it in one afternoon. I loved the historical details that took me back to the 1830s Green River Valley. I adored the main characters, Juniper and Riley. It was quite the adventure to go on with them. It was an inspiring and sweet romance to read.

Rocky Mountain Rendezvous will be getting five plus stars from me. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading books from the clean historical romance genre. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment from the Sisters of the Rockies series.

I received a paperback copy of Rocky Mountain Rendezvous from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

May 1, 2023. This book is amazing. The story line grabbed me from the first page until I finished the last sentence. Misty has the knack of bringing to life the surroundings and characters in her books. I visualized the mountains, trees, and felt a part of Riley and Juniper's adventures. Juniper and her two sisters came west to fulfill a promise to their father to find the Indian woman who saved his life and return the blue beads to her.
That was the beginning of their western adventure which lead to Juniper falling in love and her sisters agreeing to revise their plans of buying a ranch in Virginia. A story of a coyote pup, miners at a huge rendezvous, faith, promises made and kept, and seeing God's hand in directing their paths. A definite 5 star book.

Rocky Mountain Rendezvous kicks off the Sisters of the Rockies series in a big way! Here we meet the Collins sisters—Rosemary, Juniper, Lorelei, and Faith—and embark on their daring Western adventure to fulfill a mission from their late father. Juniper is the featured sister in this story of family, duty, and faith. I love the way the romantic relationship develops between Juniper and trapper Riley Turner who takes it upon himself to protect the sisters. Masterful storytelling drew me in from the beginning and immersed me in the 1830s majestic Rocky Mountain wilderness setting and action. Wonderfully crafted characters captured my heart and imagination. I appreciate the gentle faith thread that is woven through the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it especially for fans of historical romance. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Filled with great visuals, plenty of action, and a bit of romance Misty has written another can’t put it down winner.
I love the way she brings historical stories right into the living room. I could feel the awe of viewing the rendezvous from above, feel the buzz of excitement at the horse races, and experience that first growing attraction between Riley and Juniper.
Some reviews found this book a bit far fetched but for me that’s what fiction is all about, making the impossible possible.
When the four Collins sisters travel west to fulfill their late father’s request to return an item to honor a woman of the Piegan tribe who saved his life they have no idea what they will find. When they arrive at the rendezvous they are overwhelmed. Where will they even begin?
Riley takes it upon himself to keep them safe in the camp. Soon he’s gotta himself embroiled in their lives much more than he planned. As he helps them look for Steps Right his heart may also be at risk.
I highly recommend this book.
