Absolutely deserves all the attention this webtoon gets. The first volume was well done, and this installment follows in its footsteps.

For love of makeup! Jugyeong, sick of being treated badly by her peers, became a master at makeup, turning “beautiful” over one summer. Now, most of her classmates treat her a lot better…mostly.

Suoh is a (scrumptious) boy in her class who has seen Jugyeong’s unadorned face, and bonded over a mutual love of horror. Watchful and protective, Suoh fields a fair amount of the dangers that head Jugyeong’s way.

And Sujin is another beauty who has a real Snow White’s Stepmother personality. With the evil schemes to match.

I really love how Jugyeong’s love of makeup is treated seriously by the narrative. She’s not a flighty high schooler. It’s an art for her, and one she’s decided to pursue professionally. In this volume, she gets her first professional gig as a makeup artist, and even announces her intent to go to cosmetology school. She’s got a lot of challenges to face (financially, educationally, and socially), but her goal is legitimized in the narrative.

This is definitely easier to read than the Webtoon version, which is just chock full of whitespace. But, if you finish this volume and want to keep going, there’s a good 15 more volumes up online, all the way to the end of the series, PLUS a few volumes of a spin-off, as well!

**ARC provided by NetGalley for honest review**

True Beauty Volume Two by Yaongyi was a great follow up to the first volume. As a fan of the K-Drama, it seems to follow a lot of the same events as I remember happening. This was a great volume; the ending was a little abrupt, but we got to meet some more new characters and we got some plot development which was nice. It's fun getting the story in a different format too. Would recommend this series if you're interested in the webtoon or kdrama.

True Beauty is amazing! I read the whole series on Webtoon and was excited to see how it translated to being serialized. The end felt abrupt, but otherwise, this is a great volume.

It's been such a joy to go back and read through True Beauty from the beginning, and vol. 2 is where we start really getting to meet the central characters. Jugyeong is starting to see where her passions and talents lie, while still struggling with her self image and compartmentalizing sides of herself. Suho is still a brooding mystery, but clearly Jugyeong is able to get under that skin little by little. Seojin has a huge chip on his shoulder, but oh it's so exciting to think about where this character will go. Sujin is very obnoxious as the mean pretty girl, but again I'm so excited for how these characters and their arcs mature.

I honestly forgot how young the characters were and looked at the beginning of the story. It's been years since I started this webtoon, and I'm so happy to see it reach a wider audience.

Thank you so much NetGalley and Webtoons Unscrolled for giving me the opportunity to read this graphic novel in exchange for my honest review.

Although not quite as cohesive in its plot as the first volume, this second continues to point out the cruelty of pretty privilege, something it excels at. While our heroine is more comfortable with her dual selves - and doesn't hesitate to go out without makeup on occasion - others are caught up in the trap she's still at least a little stuck in. More interesting is the way that we start to get a look at how boys also suffer from the same thing, as the idea of boy bands is introduced and forms a throughline in the book. Add to this one absolutely horrible and abusive mother and the series can be hard to read at times...though I think it'll be worth it in the end.

Thank you to Netgalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group, WEBTOON Unscrolled for the eARC.

I flipped back and forth between reading the comic on Webtoon itself and reading the eARC, but the story is really picking up in this volume, especially that ending!! I'm excited to read more, and can't wait until the book format comes out for the later volumes!

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of True Beauty Volume Two by Yaongyi. I really enjoyed this volume; there was some mystery and a lot of plot twists added! I like that the message of the story is changing and developing into being more self aware about what ‘True Beauty’ is and how it’s about much more than just looks. I will definitely be continuing with this graphic novel!

I can't get over how FUN True Beauty is. It picks up straight from the first volume and is very easy to follow even if it's been a while since I last read the first one. Jugyeong is a DELIGHT. I can't get over how she just blooms as a character and really makes her look her own. I think it's wonderful.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an ARC and provide my honest feedback on it. I hope True Beauty continues to have success. It's a wonderful, uplifting story that hits just right.

I love this story so much. It has a cozy slice of life feel, but simultaneously deals with so many heavy topics. We saw many different things that teenagers deal with in this volume. Yet over all there is still an intriguing, hopeful light that every thing will turn out okay for them. For example the main character has finally found what she wants to do as a career and has begun pursuing that. I look forward to the next volume and seeing how the characters over come their individual obstacles.

Not to mention the art style is absolutely gorgeous.

Thank you so much for letting me read this book. I enjoyed the artwork. The story stayed pretty much on the surface. I hope it will get a little deeper as the series progresses.

One of my favorite webtoons in book form! I love the cover art and being able to physically hold this comic in my hand instead of just looking at my phone for hours. The story continues from volume one perfectly and the readers gets to know the characters more and more. You can't help but root for both boys to win Jugyeong.

I like the premise of this first volume: a girl who doesn’t like her natural face, personality, fashion decides to change everything about herself when she goes to school and out-and-about.

There are a several very funny moments in the story and the art is outstanding! I just don’t know where this story will go later on.

It’s still an entertaining read and would recommend it!

This series is so cute! This book followed the same setup as the previous when it came to formatting, but was still very enjoyable. I’m definitely excited to read the rest of the books in this series and this one was just so adorable. I just wish we got more from our main and their love interest that’s blossoming.

Another quick easy read from a Webtoon I love! This one bring more depth to the characters and of course the banter I love. My only downside of getting to read it early is the pictures are missing on some or have a bleed through like the printer ran out.

If you haven’t read the original Webtoon, or even seen the drama based on this, then you’re definitely missing out! It’s something I wish I had in high school.

I originally started reading this story on Webtoons years ago and thought that that it was well put together. Seeing how Korean beauty standards vary from that of the beauty standards in the united States is always something that I find piques my interest in this series. At times the characters can be shallow, but Jugyeong also shows how there is sill a person underneath the pretty girl and that people will still come after you and your happiness no matter how pretty or ugly you may be. I only wish with this series that she wouldn't need the validation of others as much in order to feel comfortable in her own skin. There is nothing wrong with her love of makeup and fashion, but it is just unfortunate that many of the characters enforce her feelings of ugliness when she doesn't have her makeup on. Even in this volume, she reaches a point in which she feels like there is nothing she is good at beside makeup, and it hurts me to see her as a young female character being encouraged with this mentality at times. Seojun and Suho are somewhat saving graces in the sense that they aren't just into her because of her face in makeup, but are genuine friends to her and feel protective over Jugyeong. With all that said, I do love the series as it was on Webtoons as well as in physical form. I hope that they continue to make printed forms of the series as it continues,

This volume was just as good as the first. The main character's struggles and relationships are very relatable, especially if you were a teen girl at some point. The pacing is good and i can't wait for the next volume!

These comics show the very real struggle that we face in fearing judgement and not knowing how people see and perceive us. We all just want to be seen and loved as we are, but sometimes we feel the need to hide behind mask of some kind or another…

I absolutely loved reading all of these on Webtoons, I am so excited that they are getting printed in English (though I was very tempted to buy them in Korean)

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC

This was a very sweet and cute graphic novel. The one thing that makes me crack up the most is how the author highlights the ugly and beautiful faces with the same amount of energy.

This volume was too nostalgic to the kdrama and I'm planning to watch it again because I just miss it too much. I enjoyed reading this volume, even more than the first one.
