Shari low got me back into reading during 2020 and I’m always waiting for more from her. This was amazing and I loved every page. Thank you Shari for all you do for this community.

One Day with You was emotional from the start and I loved everything about it. The characters, the plot, the pace and all the themes. The book really made me think.

This was my first Shari Low book and it won't be the last! This book hits the ground running and doesn’t stop. Full of secrets and lies, family and friendship and would make a great book club read.

Max and Tress are completely in love and are expecting their first child. Max leaves Tress to go on a work trip and never comes home.
Meanwhile, Noah - Max's best friend - his wife - Anya also leaves to go to work and she never returns. Unbeknownst to Tress and Noah - Max and Anya have been having a long-running affair which only comes to light when TRess goes into labour.
Alongside the 2 couples' story is the story of Eddie and Nancy. Widowed Nancy is gearing up to meet her old school flame at a school reunion - but is he all she expects him to be?

A wonderful but emotional novel from Shari Low - possibly her best yet.

One Day With You, written by Shari Low has quickly become one of my new favorite books!

The book takes place over the course of one day. It follows four individuals (Max, Noah, Nancy, and Tress) whom are experiencing one of the most important days of their lives. While the characters are all connected in one way or another, their relationships are put to the test.

I could spout off a million reasons for why I loved this book. However, for the sake of time I will limit myself to three. The following are what I adored most:

First, I found the format alone to be super refreshing! As I mentioned before, the book takes place over one 24 hour period. This is done intentionally to illustrate how important a single day is. It only takes one choice or action to change the course of someone’s future. In addition, the book is told from multiple points of view. The chapters alternate between the four main characters. In doing so, readers get a bird’s eye view of their world.

Second, I loved the messages of forgiveness, dignity, and unconditional love. Without giving too much away, this book deals with some heavy topics. Readers could easily struggle when reading this book. Instead, Low highlights the humanity of characters. She writes with such heart that you cannot help but feel sympathy and root for characters that are tragically flawed. While their morals may be called into question, you know their heart is good.

Last but not least, I adore Shari Low’s writing style. She is a master of pulling her readers in by keeping her chapters short and fast paced. I devoured this book in a day and have no regrets!

As an avid reader, I can attest to what a stellar book this is. It is a true five star read and I cannot recommend it enough. Please, do yourself a favor and go get a copy now.

A fantastic read that is well written with a compelling storyline that is told from multiple perspectives and well developed characters. I couldn't put it down and read it in almost one sitting, it is full of drama and atmosphere and some parts of it are incredible moving. I loved it

I absolutely could not put this book down. This story is told in multiple points of view of a group of friends over one day. It’s heartbreaking and beautiful. Very realistically told. I was hooked from the very first page.

My first Shari Low book and this will not be my last!
What a read.
This book is packed full of drama, it's quite hard to believe it is set over the space of one day! At the start of the day, no one will realise that at the end of it, their lives will never be the same again.
There are lots of characters and while I didn't like some behaviour by some characters (If you read it, you'll know) it was all integral to the story, so completely necessary.
Nancy was my favourite, her funny quips had me in stitches! I'd love her to be my BFF.
I did find myself confused at times, forgetting who was married to who, but the cast list at the start was so helpful!
There is lots to unpick from the drama, but I don't want to give spoilers. It's a fabulous read. Full of secrets and lies, family and friendships.

I loved this book. All shari’s books are brilliant. I love the writing style and storylines are good. Kept me interested to the end and enjoyed it.

Regular readers of my blog will know I’m a huge fan of Shari Low’s work. A search for her name will take you to a plethora of reviews from her earlier releases.

I can honestly say, however, that I think this is the best one yet!

There are certain traits you come to accustom with a Shari Low novel; strong central characters, including an older, often hilarious, feisty female, a plot which interweaves them all in some way and a perfect balance of humour and drama.

One Day With You fits the same mould, with Nancy and Val’s friendship, funny ripostes and unswerving loyalty a definite highlight providing some light relief in contrast to some uncomfortable turns in the narrative at times due to the actions of Max and Anya.

Tress and Noah capture the hearts of the reader immediately and their strength of character shines through as, during the course of 24 hours, their lives are turned upside down.

There is something for everyone here, from humour, second chances at romance and a day where one course of action changes lives forever.

An absolute, must-read!

Wow this was a quick read! As the title indicates, we follow a one day span of a few characters. We have Tress, who is pregnant, her husband Max who leaves for a business trip, his best friend Noah and his wife Anya. The couples are extremely close, but we quickly find out that they are even closer than their spouses may realize. When Tress goes into labor, she relies on her neighbors to get her to the hospital. Noah realizes something is off with his wife Anya, and realizes she booked a local hotel, so he decides to go investigate. So many twists occur and poor Noah is put into a difficult situation of how much to share with others in order to keep everyone safe medically. So many emotions over a span of one day.

Shari Low seems to specialize in telling a story that has you completely in from the start and wanting to read straight through! With this book, you might have to fasten your seatbelt as she takes you on such an emotional ride with all the events taking place in just one day.

As the song goes ‘what a difference a day makes’, the theme of this story shows how life can completely turn in a single day!

While this is essentially the story of two couples – Noah and Anya and Max and Tress – it also has other great characters that make it such an amazing read.

Love and marriage, friendship and community, birth and death and difficult issues like infidelity, Alzheimer’s, are all packed into this beautifully written story. You’ll find yourself smiling and crying, deeply moved and sometimes upset as you read it.

What a story! A quaint neighborhood outside of Glasgow where everyone knows everyone and neighbors have been together forever. Two young couples, one facing an exciting time, the other challenges. One older couple facing a difficult situation and another neighbor trying to deal with loss.

Contemporary drama with likable characters in different but not totally unrealistic situations. After an initial surprise of what was going on, the rest turned out as almost as expected. Easy read, keeps your attention. The writing keeps the story flowing between the situations, laughing one minute, tearing up the next.

This is an emotional occasionally funny story about a chaotic 24 hour period in the lives of two couples and an older neighbor. I felt for the main characters and enjoyed the ride.

A story packed with drama and I enjoyed every minute of it. Definitely would recommend and would love to read more from this author.

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Boldwood Books and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

My Thoughts: This book grabbed me from the first sentence through the end. Unique premise of this all takes place in a day. When Tress waves her husband off to work, she has no idea that she will go into labor and cannot locate Max. Max’s best friend, Noah, also has no idea that his wife, Anya, has been lying to him. Finally, the neighbor between the couples, Nancy, has the chance at meeting her first love again. You travel along all of these characters for a twenty-four period of life, some altering events, that breaths a sliver of hopefulness.

The story is narrated by the various characters, Tress, Max, Noah, and Nancy, from their POV, which I loved. While there is a host of characters, their stories bleed together. You feel for some of the characters, dislike others, and yell at some of them. Tress and Noah go through heartbreaking events, while Nancy and Val keeps a lightheartedness in the story. The characters were well developed, with depth, some banter, full of emotion, and just creatively done. The author’s writing style was complex, beautiful, funny, deeply emotional, and kept me engaged.

This book was a true rollercoaster, but the good kind. The cleansing kind. I laughed, I cried, I was sad, and I was happy. This is a poignant, yet hopeful story of love, loss, and just getting through life. I would recommend picking up.

This was a tricky one to review as it's a mixed bag for me. I have never read anything else by the author and I was intrigued by the synopsis.

The book takes place over 24 hours and focuses on the lives of two couples and an older family friend /neighbour. I quite liked the use of one day as a narrative device. I didn't really feel a connection to all the characters but I did really like Noah and Nancy. I think my favourite bits were related to Nancy and her life and her friend Val. They were the light in an otherwise dark story. I felt really sorry for Tress, the anxiety of going into labour is enough but topped with not being able to get hold of your husband must be horrendous. I liked the calm kindness of Noah and thought he was incredibly strong. The book dealt with themes of friendship, found family, infidelity and secrets, love and loss, illness and of course birth and death. It took me a little while to get into the book but soon became invested in the story. Some of the dialogue felt a little forced or unrealistic. The book became more and more heartbreaking and although the epilogue was a lighter antidote to this it left me feeling punched in the guts. Ultimately I think the author has created a story with a lot packed in, with insights into characters pasts whilst focusing on the present, a fast developing crisis and some hard hitting themes. There is some humour thrown in and definitely a smattering of uplifting moments but a little too much heartbreak for me.

This book covers it all from relationships to lies, betrayal, hope, joy, loss, doubt, friendship, family and more. It’s a collision of a number of events on one day and how they affect the main characters and, in turn, how that affects others. This book shows what people don’t always consider, that one person’s decision can have consequences for so many others. Even the most unassuming of decisions can change lives. Sometimes this is in a good way, and sometimes it’s not, but there is always a change, however small.

If you read the book you’ll understand why I didn’t like all of the characters, I don’t think that would be a surprise. But all of them are written so brilliantly that even the ones I didn’t like, I felt some degree of empathy towards. There are a few standout characters too, Nancy and Val being two of them. Those two are how I want to be when I read their age, dealing with what life throws at them as best they can with sass, humour and determination.

There is joy and lightness in this book but there’s also a lot of tension. Tress goes into labour (not a spoiler!) and uses breathing exercises to help with the pain. At times I felt I needed them too, to remind me to breathe as I read through each characters chapter. I spent each chapter wanting what was happening to that character, but also desperate to get back to the others to see what was happening with them.

Shari Low’s books are always brilliant, this one is no exception. She takes a seemingly ordinary day, fills it with events and shows how much can change in a minute. But the books also show that it’s the small things that make life what it is, whether that’s a stranger buying someone a coffee, a random conversation on a train or even just someone holding a door open for you. It’s the things that seem inconsequential, that get lost in all the day to day chaos, that can turn out to be more important than we ever expect. These books remind me of this and this is one of the many reasons I continue reading them, to remind myself that everything can change in an instant and nothing should be taken for granted.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters are well developed. I loved the characters of Tress and Noah!! This story is told in a 24 hour period. It is told from multiple point of views but it is clear which is which. I really enjoyed this book and the writing. It is a light, quick and engaging read!

They are eccentric and lovable! Max and Anya are off on what their spouses think is a work trip but it's really a couple getaway. Tress goes into labor. She is desperately trying to get in touch with her husband. Nancy and Val bring her to the hospital. While Max and Anya try to get to the hospital they are in a horrible crash. There is so much going on and it is so intriguing!!
