A Love Catastrophe was definitely funny, in a way that only Helena Hunting can do. The story is chock full of cat puns and weirdly useful information about cats as well. Miles and Kitty shouldn't work in the way that dog people and cat people shouldn't work but strangely, you can absolutely see how this could happen. Both have their own deeply personal issues and losses but both seem to help pull each other through the events that have shaped their lives. I had plenty of laugh out loud moments and enjoyed the story and all of the characters.

4.5⭐️
I loved A Love Catastrophe! It was cute and it was a fun & quirky read. It’s a great opposites attract between cat loving cat sitter Kitty “the Kitty Whisperer” Hart and dog loving cat hater Miles Thorn.
Miles’ mum is sick and she has a Sphynx (ie hairless cat) with a big personality called Prince Francis that Miles needs serious help with. And that sees him contacting the Kitty Whisperer for her professional services. Kitty is literally the most cheerful person imaginable and yet Kitty finds herself physically attracted to someone she strongly dislikes. Miles on the other hand likes Kitty but he’s notoriously not smooth with the ladies, hates Prince Francis with a passion that really irritates Kitty, and somehow manages to keep irritating Kitty without trying. Even under those circumstances love blossoms. The real question is does a cat lover and a cat hating dog lover have a future together? There’s just so much to love about this book!
I especially love this author and my favourites have been her hockey series, so I love how one of the main characters Miles is a total hockey nerd, works for a hockey team etc. That for me was a great tie in.

I don’t know what it is but there’s something about Helena’s illustrated cover books that aren’t my vibe. This was incredibly hard to get into and the writing felt painful at times to read

This is a cute book, with a easy-going story and good emotions. Miles had my heart immediately with his quirks, I've connected with him instantaneously; Kitty was something less instantaneous, she grew on me throughout the chapters and in the end both of them were in my heart. If you enjoy cute romantic comedies with heated desire, this book is for you!

**Thank you to Helena Hunting, Forever Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to receive an ARC of A Love Catastrophe in exchange for an honest review!!** This book was so fun! It is really a compliment to Helena Hunting that she was able to pull me in. I am definitely not a cat person but I really grew to love them while reading this book. (Not as much as Kitty loves cats though, I am not that obsessed!) I am all for a grumpy/sunshine trope and this book had the best of them! I enjoyed how awkward Miles was around Kitty when they first met. I also loved how they were able to grow closer together through their shared experiences. I will admit there are definitely some heavy experiences and moments in this book so please be prepared before you start it. I loved seeing Kitty reach towards her potential more throughout this book. I found both Kitty and Miles to be pretty relatable but I fear I am more of a Miles than a Kitty. I loved this book and look forward to reading more books by Helena Hunting!

I am pretty sure I failed to read the synopsis of this book before I downloaded it. Surprisingly I enjoyed the antics of the cats featured in the story as well as the humans. Miles needed a cat sitter for his mom's sphynx cat, Prince Francis. Contacting Kitty Hart, the Kitty Whisperer, was done out of desperation. Little did he know that he would be attracted to an all out cat lover. Kitty built her business out of love for cats. Meeting Miles the dog lover didn't bode well. As Kitty began to care for Miles, they forged a friendship that was built on trust. They revealed things about themselves that no other human was privy to. Their stories were vastly similar dealing with grief and being stuck in the past unable to move forward. They gave each other strength and support, and showed one another how to love and move on without feeling guilty. Their relationship also gave their respective families the courage to move on.
I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

This was such a cute one! Kitty is a cat whisperer which is such an interesting job and her bff Cat runs a cat cafe. I mean that sounds like high school bff's dreams right there.
Miles needs help with his mother's cat because she is ill and can no longer care for him. He's a bit of a grump and harbors lots of feelings because of his families losses so they start of on kind of the wrong foot.
After they get to know each other and find their commonalities with loss and life they get close.
I loved his rowdy hockey team that he ran stats for. The incident about social media and how positive but then immediately vicious it can be when taken out of context is an important topic. It can ruin lives and careers just for some likes.
Enjoyed this cute grumpy sunshine, pet friendly, hockey adjacent rom com.
Thank you readforeverpub for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

Thanks to the publisher for an advanced copy of A Love Catastrophy by Helena Hunting.
Unfortunately this book wasn't for me. The main character was so awkward and immature and I'm an animal person who grew up with cats and all of the cat puns were just too much. I think it was meant to be quirky but it crossed that line.

Helena Hunting writes some of the absolute funniest books. I love how she brings her characters to life through humor.
This book follows Miles and Kitty. Kitty is a cat sitter. There is a lot of cat content. And for my friends who are NOT fans of the 3rd Act Break up, you’re in luck! This one doesn’t have one. 💋

This is CATegorically the most hilarious romcom I’ve read this year. This is the quintessential Helena Hunting I’ve come to know and love, and Kitty Hart, the Kitty Whisperer, and Miles Thorn will always own real estate in my heart.
Miles has his hands full with both his job with the NFL as a date analyst and his mother's declining health. With Mom in the hospital, Miles needs someone to look after his mother's beloved cat, Prince Francis. Enter Kitty Hart, Kitty Whisperer and beloved internet personality.
What follows is one hilarious CATastrophe after another, with a side of cat-blocked romance and love. There's never a dull moment here, and I sped my way through this one in one evening. And as gut-busting hilarious as this story is, it's also full of heat, sentiment and heart. I have no doubt this will be your top romcom of the year, so start reading it ASAP.

Helena Hunting does it again!! This book has all the things I love about her books. It is lighthearted, has fantastic banter, great chemistry, and all the good humor! I loved Kitty and Miles! They were so fun. This was overall such an adorable book that I highly recommend!!

This is a fantastic read. Helena Huntings banter and knack for realistic but ridiculous events are expertly threaded into this story. Although at first Miles comes off as a jerk, it didn't take long to fall in line with him and the romance of Mike and Kitty.

I just finished A Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting @helenahunting and here is my review.
Kitty has a potential new client for her cat sitting business. A business she built from the group up and her instagram is blowing up with her kitty whispering ways.
After an awkward first meet, Kitty learns that Miles isn’t a fan of his mothers cat and the cat… not a fan of his either. His mother is in the hospital and may not be coming home.
Even with all the stresses in their lives, they find themselves looking forward to seeing each other and as the sparks and cat hair flies and they grow closer and closer, Kitty finds herself wanting things she never thought she would ever want but after an encounter at the park goes viral on social media, it has Kitty retreating back inside her shell and all her plans sliding away.
Anyone who knows me knows I love cutesy romance reads. This one was super cute! I love when they make the women realistic and raw. It makes it easier to connect to them then. There was a lot of humor in this book and the banter between Kitty and Miles is very entertaining.
I love the fact that Kitty has a bit of a social media following and it highlights some of the negative things that can impact your life based on what people post. The plot was fluid and very easy to follow. It is written in the POV of both Kitty and Miles which gives a more balanced read.
I’m not a massive fan of cats, (I’m a dog person like Miles) but at the end of the book I couldn’t help feeling kind of fond of cats. I loved the development of Kitty and the journey she was on was a joy to experience. I thought Miles could have been a bit more rounded but honestly the whole book was so much fun, I read it in one sitting. I always enjoy books set in Canada so if you love romance and have a soft spot for felines, this has to be your next read.
4.5 stars! Thank you @netgalley and @grandcentralpub for my gifted copy

This book was cute. I liked the character growth that we got to see in Kitty throughout the story. The romance we got to watch build between Miles and Kitty was sweet! However, I did find the fact that they were interested in one another as quickly as they were a little unbelievable. But, otherwise they were a cute couple. I loved how Miles supported Kitty after the “incident,” it made me smile.
The cat puns were a little out of hand and also, why was the word orgasam used SO OFTEN in the latter half of the book. It gave me the ick each time the word was mentioned. Not a fan of that.
I really liked the way we got to see what Kitty did with her job and even Miles’ job with the NHL was pretty interesting to read about! I really loved all of the different cats we got to read about. Bumbles is 100% my favorite of the bunch.
Overall, it was a cute romance but I just couldn’t connect with the story too much, which lowered my rating.
🤍 Thank you so much to the publisher @readforeverpub & @netgalley for this advanced reader copy!
⚠️TW: death of parent, child death, dementia, grief, child abuse, car accident

Kitty and Miles took me on an emotional yet fun and quirky journey. For Miles, he’s realizing his mother is in need of more medical help due to dementia. While he’s trying to handle a new job and her being in the hospital, he needs someone to take care of her cat. Enter Kitty, who is passionate about cats and started a cat sitting business to assist. When they first meet, well, Miles doesn’t make the best first impression but he does care about his mom’s house and making sure the cat she loves is looked after. As Kitty begins visiting Prince Francis, she focuses on the cat’s bad behaviors as she gets the cat back on a regular routine. She finds herself wanting to help Miles more at the house as he faces the task of clearing out his mother’s things in preparation of her moving to assisted living. This let’s them get to know each other and realize they may have more in common than they originally thought. Is love far behind? There are new challenges along the way as Kitty’s business starts to grow rapidly following some high profile connections which also comes with harsh criticism. I enjoyed all the puns and crazy moments that made me laugh and cringe at times while giving me a great escape. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

It is a very cat centric plot, which I wasn’t expecting. Looking at the title again I missed the CATastrophe line. My first Helena Hunting book, this one had an enjoyable plot filled with cats and cat puns. The MCs were fun to get to know.

I love Helena Hunting - a fantastic Canadian author who writes great Rom Coms, usually hockey related! This one is not a hockey player, but Miles does work for the Toronto NHL hockey team (NOT called the Maple Leafs in the book). He watches the team play and can figure out how they would be able to improve plays and lines using math and stats and other great things like that.
Kitty Hart is a cat lover, and has turned her love and ability to train them into a career cat-sitting and training - The Kitty Whisperer, well known online. She knows now, after picking the company name and getting a big online following, that it's a double entendre... and gets a lot of dirty DMs from that. Miles reaches out to Kitty to help with his mother's gorgeous Sphynx cat when she's having memory issues and needs to spend some time in a hospital. The two definitely don't hit it off and have a terrible meet-cute - though after he ends up with a scary incident himself, they thaw towards each other and their little sort of enemies to lovers relationship turns around.
I really enjoyed this story - it was cute and sweet, without a lot of angst. A lot of fun and great for animal lovers! I always enjoy Canadian authors writing their books set in Canada (Toronto and a suburb), and especially including our national love, Hockey. The only mistake I noticed is when Helena mentioned something about the legal age in the whole country except Quebec being 19 - not true! It's 18 here in Alberta too.
I really enjoyed this - a very solid 4-star read, and can highly recommend it to everyone, especially those looking for a great, low-angst, rom com that love cats who steal the whole storyline!
I received an advance review copy from NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and this is my honest opinion.

A Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting
Publication Date: June 13, 2023
Is this book for real? Are we being trolled? I can’t decide if this was either a really deep critique on romance novels that I’m too simple to get or something that I would expect to see as a skit on SNL. The book follows Kitty, the Kitty Whisperer. Kitty’s best friend is Kat (KITTY KAT!!). Kat owns a cat café. There are detailed descriptions about cats down to ball-licking and litter box mechanics. There are numerous scenarios involving cats, including the attempt at bedroom scenes. The main conflict is that her love interest is a dog person.
The first half is more cat centric than the first. Well it's either that or I was just resound to my fate and went with it.
The entire thing just felt weird and juvenile and like its entire purpose was to see how far it could push its readers. For me that was the use of the term “bingo button” to describe her anatomy during a spicy scene. Bingo button?!?! The book tries to add some serious layers in the form of parental illness, past parental death and grief but it just didn’t jive together.
A review copy was provided to me by the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I was not sure what to expect with this book. I was pleasantly surprised by the humor. Miles and Kitty sure hit it off with a bang! Life changing update on his mother's health, Miles needed someone to look after her crazy cat. Bring in the Kitty Whisperer, and you have a connection he never knew he was looking for. Kitty, still dealing with some issues with her dads death, tying to be who she thinks her mom and sister need, is not really looking out for herself. This book was a fun read, a great add to your summer reading list. There is humor, love, unpacking of life.

A very enjoyable read. Miles and Kitty both carry guilt of something that happened in their pasts. Together they overcome their guilt. They help each other come to terms with what happened.
I loved how helpful Kitty was with the care of his mom and Prince Francis. Her gentle soul is what made her such a special person along with her love of animals.
The support they offered each other is what made their relationship go from friends to a couple to eventually a forever neither one was looking for. Their story was fun, sweet, and at times hot.
I may not be a cat person but I truly enjoyed this story.
