Per usual another Helena Hunting book that I thoroughly enjoyed!
What's even better about this one is the cats!!!

-meet cute
-opposites attract
-friends to lovers (dog lover meets cat lover)
-cats!!!
-no third act break up

This book is a cutesy little rom com about Miles, who is learning to cope with his mother's dementia and needing to find someone to help him with his mom's cat, Prince Francis. Enter Kitty the self proclaimed cat whisperer, who has a business tending to cats. It's awkward, it's funny, and it's a little silly at times.
Overall I enjoyed the audiobook and would totally recommend to other cat lovers who love quirky rom-coms.

A Love Catastrophe is a really fun, fast read by Helena Hunting that had me rooting for the main characters, Kitty and Miles. Kitty is an internet famous "cat whisper" who runs into Miles, a cat hater who is in charge of his mother's cat for a while. The sparks fly and this whitty book takes off! I am not a cat lover myself but I did enjoy this book so I can only image if someone was a cat lover, how much fun this book would be to read!

I have read nearly everything Hunting wrote... this one, like her others with Forever pub, was a cute romance with light steam... your girl lives for her independently published door-wide-open scenes, but I enjoyed this one tremendously... even though I'm a total dog-lover and not a fan of cats :)

A Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting

My rating:
3.5/5
⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

Kitty is Hart is known on social media as the cat whisper. She has a professional cat sitting business and a large social media following.
When Miles Thorn is in need of Kitty’s cat sitting services while his mom is in the hospital, they arrange a meeting.

I blindly requested this one on netgalley and the fact that I didn’t realize the title Love CATastrophe was a play on words made me giggle. I was definitely the target audience for this book as most of you know I am obsessed with cats #catladyforlife!

This story was super cute and had a couple open door mild spicy scenes. I enjoyed that the main conflict in this book was not between the main characters because that could make a break a book!

Overall if you are a cat lover and love reading about cute animals / want a nice love story, this one is for you!

You definitely have to be a cat person to read this one, and I enjoyed it for that reason. This book also deals with trauma and loss and how the characters grow over time. I really enjoyed that aspect of the book.

This was my first book from the author so I am not sure if her other books are quite like this, but I’ll be reading them for sure!

Thanks netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for the ARC! You can read this one now!

Helena Hunting is an auto-buy author for me so when I saw this was coming out I got excited. Honestly this was not my favorite HH book but it still had its cute moments, especially if you love cats. I think what really brought down my enjoyment level of this novel was that the story wasn't very engaging or memorable. The characters were fine, except I am not the biggest fan of influencer characters. The romance was middle of the road and I honestly can't recall much from this story. I just wanted more and it it had no lasting power on me. I know someone will loves this, it just didn't do much for me.

This one was sweet and fun. And I wanted to love it. But somehow, it just missed the mark for a love it read for me.

I did enjoy Kitty and her interestingly named business. She was quirky and fun.

They way they meet was ... odd? I don't know.

I cannot even describe exactly what missed the mark. It was cute and I liked it. Just didn't make me feel all the feels to love it.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Forever Pub for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Helen Haunting's "A Love Catastrophe" is a delightful romantic comedy that delivers laughter and heart in equal measure. The story follows Kitty and Miles, who meet when Kitty (a cat whisperer) agrees to care for Miles's mom's cat while she is hospital bound. They had a meet cute moment and the rest is - history.

What truly sets this book apart, is its ability to balance romance with the harsh realities of life. Miles is dealing with his mother's illness and some childhood trauma while Kitty provided a soft shoulder for him to lean on. This duality creates a unique reading experience, as readers are treated to both lighthearted moments and heartrending confessions.

One minor critique is that the pacing occasionally fluctuates, with some scenes feeling rushed while others delve into extensive detail. However, this doesn't detract significantly from the overall enjoyment of the book. It's the perfect end of summer read.

Thanks to #NetGalley and the publishers for a complimentary copy.

3.5 stars.

An entertaining premise, but I struggled a little with the main character and her maturity level. She seemed and acted much younger, and her immaturity made her seem less genuine at times, especially in the beginning.

While this may not be my favorite Helena read, it was an easy read and I’m sure will appeal to others, especially cat lovers!

I really liked this book. I liked the premise of an insta famous kitty whisperer and the FMC turning her side hustle into a career. I liked her (really both of their) emotional arc of dealing with grief. I liked the MMC opening up from the buttoned up statistician to let her in.

I found the catalyst moment to be a little preposterous, which I’m sure was the point, but I’m glad it worked out in the end. I could take or leave an animal related meet cute, but the hijinks of the cat that brought them together made me giggle.

Thank you you Netgalley and Forever Publishing for this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

I am officially a fan of Helena Hunting and her brilliant books. I loved the concept of this book and the execution of this novel.

I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. The heart added to the storyline is what caught me. Kitty is a cat lover and she has made helping people with their cats her life and job taking care of his mom

Both Kitty and Miles have many life changes and pasts that they need to deal with surrounding death. They are perfect for each other

I loved the characters and the development throughout the book - the supporting characters were also wonderful - this is a great love story

Started out so so strong.i really enjoyed Miles and Kitty. Such a clever concept with the cats. But ugh, the minute they acted on their attraction the romance got weird. The verbage was odd, the conversations didn't even sound like ones the previous characters would have had 20 pages prior. I skimmed the last half of the book.

When a crazy cat lady and a nerdy NHL data analyst clash you get a very hilarious, punny, embarrassing, awkwardly good time. Kitty Hart, an internet-famous cat-sitter called the Kitty Whisperer, is the very definition of a crazy cat lady. Her whole life revolves around them, she even dresses in cat-themed clothes, makes cat jokes, and even drives a car with the Kitty Whisperer on it. Miles Thorn is the dorky numbers guy, who makes a terrible first impression when he first meets Kitty.

This book had me laughing out loud and also cringing so hard with secondhand embarrassment. I found myself increasingly annoyed with Miles' career because that's not exactly how it works even though you wouldn't really know that unless you knew someone who did it, but it did annoy me. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others. And the best part was no third-act breakup!

This is such a delightful, romantic comedy that has opposites attract as well as grumpy sunshine, which are two of my favorite tropes. We have kitty who is a feline expert and is supposed to help Miles a hockey player who happens to be watching his mothers, cat prince Frances. even the beginning of the relationship starts off with a mishap. There is so much banter, and of course, prince Frances only as to the fun of the story. I love seeing the relationship develop between kitty and Miles, because who doesn’t love a grumpy sunshine Romance. It’s a fun entertaining read from start to finish.

This was my book club July bookclub pick. I loved all the fun and unique conversations that this story brought us; however, the cringe factor of this one was too much for me. As a cat mother, I couldn't get over all the sex cat puns. It was a hard no for me. Bingo button. No, no, no. I love you, Helena. I do, but no. "Want to make out before we take our clothes off" left me wanting to take a cold shower with the embarrassment I had. Will I continue to read everything you publish? Yes, I will, but I will not read this one again. One was enough for me. I love you, though.

Okay listen, when I started this book ... OOF. I was not a fan. I kept setting it down and not wanting to pick it back up. A friend was reading the ARC with me and she said, "it gets better keep going". So I did and she was RIGHT! It DOES get better. But that beginning?!?! Wayyyyyy too many cat puns and weirdness. ( And this is coming from a crazy cat lady! lol) The author definitely chills on all the puns, but the beginning just kind of still ruined it for me. :(
ADORABLE premise, but not one I'm likely to recommend.

I’m a longtime fan of Helena Hunting, and while this book is cute and charming, it isn’t my favorite. The pacing felt really slow, not much happened, and there was a difficult balance between Kitty and Miles and their awkward, sort of goofy relationship and personality and the intense issues — like parental trauma and the loss of loved ones — they grappled with. I liked the representation of both Kitty and Miles’ bodies and realistic lifestyles, and it was fun to see all of the different animal personalities. However, I felt like I had to force myself to finish this story, which is unfortunate because I usually love Helena’s writing. With that being said, if you are into relatively closed door, quirky romantic comedies with an emphasis on domestic scenes and no third act break ups— you’ll enjoy this! Not for me, but definitely for someone. 2.5 stars.

This crazy cat lady loved all the cat references and puns! Maybe they were a little excessive for some, but I honestly enjoyed it and felt it added some subtle humor!

This was one of my favorite books this year! I am a cat lover so it made me happy to see that this was a story that featured cats. Most are about dogs or puppies.

I loved the depth of the characters and the realistic challenges they faced. Enemies to lovers is such a fun trope in this book. It works perfectly for the story. There are some sad things about the book, but the love that comes through makes it a little sweeter!

As a non-cat lover, the bar was pretty low for this story. (Don't come for me... I'm highly allergic!!!) This was actually so cute! The puns were purrrr-fect. I can never have enough. There was only one overall ick (bingo button?!?) but overall I laughed a lot, and the relationship was believable. I also enjoyed how interconnected a lot of the secondary characters were, and would read a spinoff for a few of them! Thanks to Forever and NetGalley for the review copy.
