This was super fun! I didn’t expect it to be as funny and quick witted as it was. A great modern day twist on dating sites. I did get frustrated occasionally with the main character but I guess that happens in any murder/thriller when it comes to questionable choices, whether it be a book or a movie. Thanks so much for the arc!!

If negotiating the dating scene with the use of apps ever gives you pause for thought, this debut novel from LM Chilton will most likely have you wanting to delete all apps, including your social media accounts, and maybe even ditching your smartphone altogether.

Gwen Turner, 29, entrepreneur, part-time barista, true crime podcast enthusiast and newly single, is on a mission to find fun via a very Tinderesque dating app, Connector - all she has to do is swipe right to connect.

All good fun, right? Or maybe not, given the calibre of men Gwen is matching with! She sure knows how to pick a dud, or perhaps there are more underhand tactics at work. Such ill-fated liaisons, however, fail to deter the determined Gwen from constantly scrolling, even at her best friend's Hen party, where she connects with the mysterious Parker, and her already chaotic world becomes utterly surreal.

They say romance is dead, but when her dates start getting murdered, that couldn't be nearer the truth. What's worse is the bodies are turning up at or very close to the location of their dates with Gwen, making her the prime suspect.

Enter a couple of highly unconvincing detectives, and after a quick chat down ‘the nick’ Gwen is allowed to join in as amateur sleuth extraordinaire, and this becomes a cat-and-mouse style hunt across Eastbourne.

Don't Swipe Right is a fast-paced mystery with plenty of red herrings to throw you off the scent. I confess I figured out who our perpetrator was, but I was a good bit into the book, which had minimal impact on my overall enjoyment.

If you're going into this wanting a serious police procedural / crime thriller, you'll be disappointed, but if you can suspend belief for a while, this is a blackly comic cosy (yes, I know cosy and murder are not words usually combined but trust me) read that will have you laughing until you cry.

Overall, it is a quick romp of a read that deserves you taking a chance and metaphorically ‘swiping right’. 3.5⭐

Many thanks to NetGalley and Head of Zeus for the opportunity to read an advance copy. As always, this is an honest review.

Finally! A cosy murder mystery with my kind of sarcasm and humour. It's witty, modern, fun, fast paced - honestly, this book was an absolute joy to read, and I couldn’t put it down.

100% Recommend - I'm absolutely swiping right for this debut and very much look forward to reading future books by this author 😆

This was a fun book and had some really great funny moments. I found some of the plot a little bit too out there for me personally. But I did love the writing and would definitely read more from this author.

After a break up from a long term relationship, Gwen turns to a dating app for distraction and goes on a series of bad first dates. When her dates start being murdered, the police question Gwen. She’s watched many episodes of a detective series and tries to solve the case herself. Is she a suspect, and who is really committing the murders?
This book was not compelling. The characters are not particularly well drawn and the writing is a little scatty - though I initially thought that was supposed to reflect Gwen’s character. When the truth emerged, I just wanted to shake Gwen for being stupid - both for how she’d acted and for how she hadn’t just told the police. The very idea that she could try to investigate this case herself, and that she wasn’t arrested sooner (to keep her out of the way) was beyond belief.
A very unbelievable story, but it is that, just a story. A bit of a romp that whiled away a few hours. Suspend your disbelief and it’s quite enjoyable. 6/10.

As soon as I read the synopsis for this book I knew I’d love it, it already seemed funny and quirky and just something completely different.
It really lived up to expectation, it was funny, it was relatable, it had a good old Murder mystery and was just genuinely different to anything I’d read before, a cosy crime crossed with a dark comedy = love love love!

Online dating can be scary. Even scarier is if everyone you date seems to be the target of a serial killer, just like in Gwen's life.

This book was a lot more fun than I initially anticipated. A lot of Gwen's dates were amusing and I loved trying to guess who our serial killer was! This was a fab fast paced debut for LM Chiltern and I'm really hoping we get to read more by him soon.

This was a great read that keeps you interested with short chapters and lots of twists along the way. There’s something for everyone with some aspects of a rom-com and some of a murder mystery. I really enjoyed this read and would recommend it to others. I would definitely read another book by this author in the future.

This is a great black comedy. Based on the obvious (title that even a 52 yr old like me understands!) and really this has grabbed me immediately. The whole idea of a psycho stalker always makes me want to read it and this isn’t going to give you nightmares.

This is a corker of a debut novel. A great plot with an abundance of plot twists and red herrings. I did guess who was to blame but I was a significant way through before doing so which made the read all the more enjoyable. I really don’t want to say too much and spoil this read for anyone suffice to say it will be relatable (only to a point hopefully!) for most in the era of dating apps, catfishing and ghosting. Looking forward to more from this author.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for an ARC of this book, I highly recommend you buy a copy on release.

I'd describe this as rom com with an injection of murder mystery... Rom com has not been my thing since my 30s but I read some good reviews on this one so opted for it on Netgalley.

It was similar to How to Kill Men and Get Away with it ... However it lacked the wit that I needed to keep me enthralled.
It entertained me to a point but I did start to speed read a bit to get to the end.

I think this would be a fun summer read for many but it didn't quite hit the mark for me

Thanks to @netgalley and @ariafiction for the ARC of the book

Finding love can be murder, from serial dater to serial killer.
It’s a laugh out loud debut novel that ends up being a murder mystery.
Gwen Turner is a 29 year old entrepreneur and part time barista and her experiences of dating apps are all too relatable, only she discovers her latest match is actually a serial killer.
It’s witty and deadpan, although a bit chaotic at times, the short chapters and fast paced plot twists make for an easy binge-able read.
Perfect for fans of Netflix You
Thanks @LM_chilton @headofzeus & @netgalley for the eARC

I read this as part of our bookclub read and read this over a period of 3 days! I could not put this own, this book is a fast paced, funny, thriller! The humour is brilliant, its dark yet witty. If you like books such as Sweet Pea, How to Kill Men and Get Away with It then you will love this!

The MC was brilliant, I loved her and she was so well written, I honestly felt like I knew her. There were times in the story where I was unsure whether she was a reliable character as all the evidence pointe to her however, nothing could prepare me for the ending! It was brilliant.

Cant wait to read another book by L.M. Chilton.

Thanks to the publishers for sharing this novel. It made a nice change to read a murder mystery that was a bit lighter and more fun. My full review appears on Toopa.com.

Finding true love can be murder.

Gwen Turner, 29, entrepreneur and part-time barista.

Likes: true-crime podcasts, cheese-based snacks (the more unnaturally orange the better) and constantly refreshing her dating apps.

Dislikes: two-day hangovers, people who refer to themselves as entrepreneurs… and discovering her latest match is actually a serial killer (probably should have put that top of the list).

They say romance is dead – but if Gwen can’t catch the mystery killer who’s targeting every man she’s ever dated – it’s about to get a whole lot more deadly…

This murder mystery with a twist kept me guessing all the way through, and I was always wrong, swapping one character with another for the murderer – the twists kept coming, but with plenty of humour too. I love the way the story is written, the author’s writing style is very readable and has a uniqueness to it. I absolutely flew through this book and I’m not by any means a fast reader.

“The phrase ghosting had taken on a whole new meaning.”

My thanks to the author and L. M. Chilton for my advance copy to read and review via Netgalley.
