I love Sasha Velour and this book truly is perfect! It's full of drag history, their life experiences, art, and shows how amazing the art form of drag is. Perfect read for any drag fan, LGBTQIA+ community member, and art lover.

Wonderful read from Sasha Velour. It's more than just a memoir. Loved the history of drag throughout the book. The parts that are from Sasha's life are so incredibly heartfelt, it almost felt impossible to fall more in love with them as a person. The comics by them as well were so much fun, the art style was fantastic. This is one I will be buying even if it's just for my sibling to read it as well.

The Big Reveal is everything that I wanted from a Sasha Velour book. Both academic and personal, Velour does an excellent job of giving the reader a history of drag that feels fresh and contextualized for a modern audience. They create a strong argument for drag as an artform, while also digging into their personal experiences and emotional journeys in that world.

Sasha Velour crafts a compelling "manifesto of drag" (as she puts it) by weaving together a history of drag (in its many, varied forms) with personal and family stories that connect to the 8 themes that the book is centered around. Through this, Velour shows readers that drag as an art form is more expansive and important than many may expect.
While many readers are likely to come to this book expecting salacious gossip about Velour's time on RuPaul's Drag Race (there is little of that here beyond the emotions during the taping of that famous finale), what is much more compelling here is the portrait of Velour as an artist and of the art of drag itself.
